All Is Not Well In MAA?

Share

The new panel of Movie Artists Association (MAA) has no coordination right from the day it got elected. On the oath taking day, president Naresh’s behavior became a talking point and then the rift among the members widened.

These differences reached a whole new level as Executive Vice-President and actor Rajasekhar has decided to serve show-cause notices to President Naresh. Though this is strange last night around 11’o clock, reportedly a committee meeting was held and it was chaired by Rajasekhar. The committee opined that Naresh got busy with films and is not bothered about MAA and its activities. Few members alleged that for the last six months, no major activities were held by MAA and despite repeated attempts, Naresh is not attending the committee meetings. Further no fund-raising events are planned for future so as to pay pensions for aged artists and other beneficiaries.

So this committee has decided to give the full powers to Executive Vice-President Rajasekhar and accordingly they signed a paper supporting Rajasekhar’s name. However, the supporters on behalf of Naresh rubbished this committee meeting and said their decisions are not valid.

Not to forget Naresh has worked very hard to win the MAA Presidential elections. Against the odds of strong members like Sivaji Raja, Naresh gathered support from all corners and lastly from the Mega camp, Naga Babu too extended his support. But somewhere things are going haywire and they need a serious fixation for future.

JC’s Review On Jagan’s 100 day rule

Share

AP CM YS Jagan led YSR Congress government has completed 100 days of its office last week but it has invited harsh criticism from the main opposition TDP and also from the likes of BJP, Jana Sena and Left parties.

But one man’s review on Jagan’s government matters a lot and he is firebrand politician JC Diwakar Reddy. Post retiring from politics, JC mostly remained silent even though the media kept haunting him. The other day media confronted him and when asked about his view on Jagan’s government, JC replied that it is too early to talk.

“100 days is not a big time frame. This is too early to make a comment and with his decisions, the government is laying a step backward and forward. This clearly shows there is no one properly to guide Jagan,” said JC. Also on RTC merge, the former Anantapur MP opined that this will put a lot of burden on the government’s exchequer even if the employees get benefited. “No government in the country will do business. Taking the authority of RTC is fine but intervening in its key business would have a serious impact,” added JC.

On key issues like job creation like village volunteers, JC said, let Jagan breathe for some time. He might have done a lot of research before coming up with this initiative. Time will figure out what sort of results it will yield and there is no need to look everything in microscopic view.

Concluding JC said even when he is in oppositions or vice versa, Jagan is ‘Maa Vaadu.’

No, Vijayashanti Is Not Part Of #RRR

Share

As it happens to be one of the biggest films coming up, surely #RRR is engulfed with lots of rumours too. One such hot news that stunned film lovers is the arrival of former heroine Vijayashanti into this startling mult-starrer that already features two big superstars of Telugu cinema, Jr NTR and Ram Charan.

Reports have come out that Vijayashanti will be essaying a crucial role in #RRR like how Ramakrishna dazzled in Sivagami’s role in Baahubali. The news seems to be untrue, however.

“Anil Ravipudi is the only director who met me on a couple of occasions, requesting me to feature in his films. After missing out his previous one due to political commitments, now I’ve agreed to do Sarileru Neekevvaru as my role is very interesting” said Vijayashanti, further adding, “Rumours about #RRR are not true. None have approached me, nor I have the interest to sign any films immediately after this Mahesh Babu starrer”.

So, with the iron lady herself giving the clarity, let’s put a full stop to rumours of her presence in #RRR.

Ola, Uber Slowdown Auto Sector: FM Trolled Heavily

Share

The Indian automobile sector is going through one of the worst slowdowns for the past 3 decades with the sales of both 2 and 4-wheelers falling down to double digits. The Modi-led government and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman have been targeted from all quarters for the lackluster measures to revive the auto sector.

But the icing on the cake was Nirmala Sitharaman’s yesterday’s statement. She said that the change in the mindset of ‘millennials’ who are now preferring Ola, Uber and metro instead of buying cars on EMI basis is one of the reasons behind the automobile industry slowdown.

Needless to say, netizens across the country are taking to social media and mocking Nirmala’s statement, by trending the hashtag “BoycottMillennials”. “Millennials have stopped cooking at home because of Zomato and Swiggy,” said one Twitter user. Another troll tweeted a meme with Baba Ramdev doing yoga and wrote, “Oxygen levels are dipping down since millennials are breathing Oxygen in the mornings.”

India’s automobile industry employs nearly 3 crore employees, and lakhs of jobs are at stake due to the slowdown. On the other hand, India’s leading truck manufacturer Ashok Leyland has reported a 70 percent drop in sales in August. Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest 2-wheeler maker, reported a 20 percent drop last month. Maruti Suzuki posted a 34 percent drop in sales.

Naini Expecting KCR’s Call, Got From KTR

Share

Former Telangana home minister Naini Narasimha Reddy made it to the headlines for not picking him in the cabinet. He added that CM KCR did not keep his words and even he is the real owner of TRS flag too. Naini’s comments certainly brought a discussion within the party and finally, they reached Working President KTR.

Off the record chit-chatting with the media again today, Naini said my small comments were well highlighted by the media and I got a call from KTR. But Naini did not disclose what he spoke with KTR and the other way.

“If KCR calls me, I will go and talk else I would stay where I am. TRS party is ours and the positions, roles and responsibilities should be ours,” said Naini in a diplomatic way. Yet he refused to raise his voice further.

While the majority of the upsets leaders have calm down in TRS, it appears like Naini is the only leader who still wants to be heard by KCR. Hope he gets a call from the TRS boss.

Tollywood Welcomes Boney Kapoor

Share

The success of films like Baahubali and Arjun Reddy in Hindi hinterlands are actually blurring the boundaries. While there used to be a crossover of actors earlier, no we have directors and producers from the Telugu industry heading to Mumbai to test waters in Bollywood.

But this Bollywood producer, who is known for many things, is working the reverse of that equation as he is penetrating down south. While many Telugu producers are trying to get a foothold in Bollywood, Boney Kapoor is trying to do the opposite now. He has debuted into Kollywood recently with Nerkonda Parvai, the remake of Pink movie, and now he has set his eyes on Telugu Film Industry.

Buzz has that Boney will be co-producing the Telugu remake of “Badai Ho” with ace producer Dil Raju. That way he sets foot in Telugu industry after a long time, as earlier he used to watch Telugu movies but produce them in Hindi, but not produced any films here.

And the remake of Badai Ho might feature a popular Telugu hero as currently, they are in consultation with Naga Chaitanya for the same. The film’s story is about the hero’s parents getting pregnant and how the family deals with emotional after-effects and repercussions of society.

Exclusive: No faction background for Palnadu MLAs!

Share

It is a known fact that Palandu region of Guntur district had been ridden with factional feuds for quite a long time.

As in the case of Rayalaseema region, factionism in Palandu is mostly confined to a few sections fighting for dominance in the area and politics is only a cover up for them to get out of the cases.

Hitherto, whether it was the Congress regime or the TDP regime, the elected representatives were associated with one faction or the other fighting for one-upmanship in the region.

The ruling party leaders used to get away with the police support, while those associated with opposition parties used to suffer.

During the TDP regime, two leaders ruled the roost in Palnadu region: one, former Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao from Sattenapalli and Yarapathineni Srinivasa Rao from Gurajala.

There were allegations that Kodela and his family members gained control over Narsaraopet, Sattenapalli and adjoining areas, Yarapathineni reigned terror in Gurajala, Macherla and Rentachintala areas.

Particularly in Gurajala region, where Yarapathineni was allegedly involved in illegal limestone mining activities, more factional incidents were witnessed. Among the opposition, only Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy family was known be involved in factional feuds.

However, in the present YSRC regime, almost all the ruling party MLAs have no factional background, except Pinneli.

For instance, Kasu Mahesh Reddy, coming from the family of former chief minister Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, keeps himself away even from petty quarrels in his constituency Gurajala, known for factional violence, and does not entertain even YSRC leaders involved in any violent incidents.

So is the case with Gopireddy Srinivas Reddy from Narsaraopet. Though he has political rivalry with Kodela family having faction background, there is not a single case of any factional feuds against him.

Similarly, Sattenapalli MLA Ambati Rambabu, who defeated Kodela in the recent elections, is a loud-mouth politician, but has no factional background. He doesn’t maintain any groups nor does he have any record of indulging in land grabbing or extortions.

Only Macherla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna hails from a family involved in factionism, but he personally had never indulged in any factional violence. In fact, his followers suffered a lot during the TDP regime.

So, one is surprised when TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu started shouting from roof tops over increased violence in Palnadu region, as none of the MLAs of YSRC from the region have any such violent record.

As a matter of fact, if at all there are any people who faced violent attacks in Palnadu, they were the victims of former TDP MLAs Kodela and Yarapathineni.

Apparently, Naidu is making a hue and cry only to protect these two leaders whose atrocities are now coming out in the open!

Sankara Netralaya raised $200000

Share

A great performance “DrishTi” unraveled in front of our eyes this afternoon at Infinite Energy Center.

An entertaining opening by emcee Jayakiran Pagadala whose grip over several Indian languages made all regional audiences from India feel settled in setting the right note.

The roll ups related to several programs Sankara Nethralaya has in its radar along with Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s AI revolution and how it is leveraged in detecting diabetic retinopathy were thought provoking. Google is partnering with Sankara Nethralaya hospitals.

Atlanta Trustee Srini Reddy Vangimalla, Vice President Moorthy Rekapalli & President Bala Reddy Indurti addressed the audience before the Bharata Naatyam program and discussed about Sankara Nethralaya fundraiser events in different cities in USA and service activities in India. Program was celebrated at Infinite Energy Center in Atlanta USA on Sunday September 8th.

When the dance drama unfolded on the stage, I wondered how the very talented guru Padmaja Kelam garu and her team were going to relate it to cause of Sankara Nethralaya.

The way Hasini character loses eye sight and the way she revokes her passion towards dance in spite of dearth of vision and message towards the end that inner senses have no boundaries and inability to see hardly matters when you pursue your passion were heart warming.

This connection establishment was awesome and what a terrific performance by the artist who played Hasini.

Our heartfelt congratulations to Padmaja Kelam, Siddartha Kelam and team of children who worked so hard to make this happen. lyrics by Dr Uma Eyyuni & composed by Asha Ramesh.

We heard from one of the audiences outside how he couldn’t control his tears seeing the performance of girl who played Hasini.

DrishTi program is conceptualized & directed by Padmaja Kelam and written by Siddarth, performed with live orchestra with 700 plus spellbound audience. Padmaja Kelam’s disciple Priyanka Kasula played Hasini.

Drishti signifies much more than the literal meaning. It’s about the awakening of our inner humanity and care for others.

The external beauty that we see with our eyes is temporary and does bring short term joy. Anthar drishti or the inner sight, on the other hand, invokes the highest pleasure or bliss in all of us.

Fundraising team led by Bala Reddy Indurti, Moorthy Rekapalli, Srini Reddy Vangimalla, Rajasekhar Reddy Aila, Meher Lanka, JayaKiran Pagadala, Padmaja Kelam, Upendra Reddy Rachupally, Ramesh Chaparala, Rajeev Menon, Suresh Vemulamada & Neelima Gaddamanugu raised $200,000 to support 3000 indigent patients. Bala Indurti dedicated this victory to Atlanta Chapter founder Dr. Seshu Sarma who has been moved to Washington DC to stay with grand children.

Thanks are due to Atlanta team members Krishnadas Pisharodi, Srikrupa Easwaran, Phani Dokka, Uma Narayan, Raghava Tadavarthi, Kamal Satuluru, Namrata Satuluru, Rajesh Tadikamalla, Ramesh Valluri, Venkat Chundi, Ravi Kandimalla, Subba Rao Maddali, Ram Mallappa, Swadesh Katoch, Viju Chiluveru, Niranjan Prodduturi & ByteGraph for their continuous support and hard work to this event.

Thanks are due to MESU (Mobile Eye Surgical Unit) donors: Moorthy Rekapalli & Madhavi and Aniil Jagralmudi & Mahalakshmi. Main purpose of MESU is to eradicate preventable blindness in India. Initially we are planning the MESU for Telugu states and eventually we want to replicate the same model all over the country.

Thanks are due to the following Adopt-A-Village donors: Mulri Reddy & Bindu, Dr. Sanjeeva Reddy & Sridevi, Suresh Vemulamada & Dr. Madhavi Rayapudi, Srinivas Surapaneni & Priya, Srini Reddy Vangimalla & Deepa, Prasad Mallu & Niveditha, Ravi Reddy Maraka & Praveena, and Balakrishna Nuli.

Thanks are due to Atlanta local associations TAMA, GATA, GATeS, GAMA, GATS, IFA, Maitri & Atlanta Telugu Samskriti for spreading the word in weekly broadcast news.

SN team also recognized community leaders and philanthropists Dr. BK Mohan & Rajyalaxmi, Pramod Sajja & Pratima, TR Reddy & Niranjini, Dr. G.S. Visvesvara, Veena Bhat for their support since inception of Atlanta chapter.

Mr. S V Acharya, President Emeritus and founder of Sankara Nethralaya OM Trust expressed regret for his inability to attend the event. He conveyed his message to Atlanta audience over phone thanking for their long term support and making Atlanta chapter one of the most active chapters in US.

He also thanked the Trust President Mr. Bala Reddy Indurti for spearheading this event with support from Vice President Moorthy Rekapalli, trustees Srini Reddy Vangimalla, Rajasekhar Reddy Aila, Meher Lanka, JayaKiran Pagadala, volunteers, Kalavani Academy & Atlanta community to make this as a memorable event in the history of the Trust in USA.

TRS does damage control, pacifies rebels!

Share

With one Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader after the other coming out in the open expressing his anguish over the neglect of loyalists in the latest cabinet expansion, TRS leadership swiftly entered the scene to control the damage.

While former home minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy openly expressed his anguish before the media for being ignored in the cabinet expansion, there were reports that former deputy chief minister T Rajaiah, former environment minister Jogu Ramanna, Nizamabad rural MLA Bajireddy Goverdhan and Malkajgiri MLA Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao, besides former minister Jupally Krishna Rao might jump the fence into the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Added to this, Serilingampalli MLA Arekapudi Gandhi also registered his protest for being denied cabinet berth by telling the party leadership that he was not interested in accepting the government whip post.

Apparently realizing that trouble is brewing in the party, TRS working president K T Rama Rao plunged into action and talked to each of them individually. He assured that all their interests would be taken care of.

At the same time, he also warned them that if they make any attempt to jump into the BJP, their assembly membership would be cancelled automatically and the government would also open cases against them for their past corrupt activities.

As a result, the MLAs like Jogu Ramanna, Bajireddy and T Rajaiah, besides Jupally held a press conference and denied the reports of their defection to the BJP. However, others like Mynampalli are yet to fall in line, according to latest reports.

Are TRS, BJP fighting a ‘fake political battle’?

Share

TRS and BJP were always considered as ‘secret friends’ during the past five years.

However, this opinion started changing after recent Lok Sabha results in which BJP trounced TRS in four Lok Sabha seats and more importantly after defeating KCR’s daughter Kavitha and KCR’s close aide Vinod Kumar in Nizamabad and Karimnagar Lok Sabha seats.

After Lok Sabha results, the BJP stepped up attack against KCR and TRS and trying to project itself as alternative to TRS in 2023 Assembly polls.

TRS too is not sparing BJP and coming down heavily on all the BJP leaders starting from Narendra Modi, Amit Shah to Kishan Reddy, K Laxman.

However, all this seem to be a ‘fake political battle’ between TRS and BJP with an hidden agenda of eliminating Congress from the political landscape of Telangana.

This argument gained credence after Telangana new governor Tamilisai Soundararajan heaped praises on KCR and TRS government.

BJP leaders claimed that Soundararajan was deputed by Modi and Amit Shah with the prime purpose of troubling KCR and TRS government and help BJP to grow in Telangana.

But within 24 hours of assuming charge as Governor, she issued a public statement praising KCR for Kaleshwaram project, Mission Bhagiratha and his welfare schemes of Rythu Bandhu, KCR Kits, Kalyana Laxmi etc.

She went on to say that KCR and TRS governments have become role models for the entire country.

Her statements naturally have given rise to suspicion that TRS and BJP still continue to maintain ‘secret ties’ and there is a hidden agenda to eliminate Congress, which still remains the major political force in TS after TRS.

Both parties are trying to create an impression among people that only TRS and BJP exist in Telangana and Congress has vanished and to achieve their goal both the parties are fighting a fake political battle.

Samantha to stop acting after 10 months!

Share

Bad news for fans of Samantha Akkineni. She won’t be acting in films after next 10 months or so.

No, it does not mean Samantha will be retiring from films, but she is planning to take a long break before taking a call on returning to film industry. Apparently, she wants to go family way.

For the last two weeks, Samantha, along with her hubby Naga Chaitanya, was away from hustle-bustle of the film industry. They went abroad on holidaying and are just back to their daily grind.

Soon after landing in Hyderabad, Naga Chaitanya has begun working for Sekhar Kammula’s untitled romantic drama, while Samantha is gearing up for the shoot of “96 Remake” that has already completed a major portion.

As we reported earlier, Samantha will take a break from her acting career in the second half of 2020 and start planning for a family.

She wants to have at least two kids as she will turn 33 next summer. So, she will not do movies after 10 months!

Trivikram going at super speed!

Share

Ace dialogue writer-director Trivikram Srinivas is known for his meticulous planning and careful crafting while making films. He generally takes at least a year to do a film with a big star.

But now, Trivikram is going at a super speed in making his current film – “Alav Vaikunthapurammulo”- starring Allu Arjun, which has now become a talk of the town in Telugu film industry.

After facing some setbacks and small differences with Allu Arjun initially, Trivikram has now taken the entire film under his control and is going ahead in completing it without wasting a single call sheet.

According to sources familiar with the film, Trivikram is likely to wrap up 90 per cent of the shooting of his film by October end.

The remaining portion will be canned in December. This is a new record for Trivikram, known for taking a long time in making a film.

With a bounded script in hand and with experienced and talented actors as the main cast, Trivikram is doing two things simultaneously: shooting the film and also giving inputs to the promotional team to ready the material for every festival.

On the occasion of Vinayaka Chaviti, the film’s first look poster came out. Now he is planning to release the teaser for the Dasara festival.

The first song will be released in the first week of November. And finally, the film will hit the screens on Sankranti. Such is the planning with precision by Trivikram in promoting the film.

“Ala Vaikunthapurammulo” is the third film in Trivikram and Allu Arjun’s combination.

The film has Pooja Hegde as the main heroine and Tabu is playing a key role. A house set worth Rs 5 crore has been erected to shoot sequences on Tabu.

Soon after wrapping up the movie, Trivikram is likely to go either with NTR Jr or another surprise star. Watch out for more on this front!

Police foil Palnadu rally, Naidu launches fast

Share

The Andhra Pradesh police on Wednesday successfully thwarted the attempts of the Telugu Desam Party from taking out a rally as part of “Chalo Palnadu” call given by party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to express solidarity with the pro-TDP villagers who were allegedly hounded out of their houses.

The police kept scores of Telugu Desam Party leaders including MLAs, MPs and former ministers under house arrest and prevented Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh from coming out their house at Vundavalli in Amaravati to take out the rally.

Angered at the preventive arrests and house confinements of the party leaders, the TDP chief launched a fast from 8 am to 8 pm within his house premises.

Though he was not exactly house-arrested, the police told him that he cannot come out to participate in the rally.

Though Lokesh managed to come out of the house and walk for some distance, he was not allowed to proceed further and sent back into the house.

The TDP chief asked the party leaders and cadres to take up day-long fast in their respective areas across the state in protest against the highhanded attitude of the police. He described it as a black day in the history of the state.

Naidu was planning to lead a rally with 127 families who were alleged victims of the YSRC violence at Atmakur village in Palnad region. They have been taking shelter at the rehabilitation centre at the TDP headquarters in Guntur for the last one week.

Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani, former minister Gollapalli Surya Rao, TDP youth wing president Devineni Avinash, MLC Dinesh Reddy and several others were taken into custody at the Prakasam Barrage connecting Vijayawada and Guntur.
