Lanka Cricketers Pull Out, Pak Blames India
Remembering the 2009 terrorists attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore nearly 10 top players have pulled out of the upcoming tour of Pakistan. Fast bowler Lasith Malinga, Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews are among the players and they cited security reasons behind their withdrawal.
Even on Lanka players’ action, Pakistan is blaming India. Pakistan minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Hussain who has been very vocal ever since revoking Article 370, tweeted that India has a role in Lanka players pulling out.
‘India threatened SL players that they ll be ousted from IPL if they don’t refuse Pak visit, this is really cheap tactic, jingoism from sports to space is something we must condemn, really cheap on the part of Indian sports authorities,’ tweeted Fawad Hussain.
Yet there are no takers for Fawad Hussain’s comments while BCCI sources refused to comment on it. On the other hand, Sri Lanka cricket board is planning to send their A team as senior players are reluctant.
Srisailam Dam Overflows, Big threat ahead?
After a decade, sufficient water reached Srisailam dam and from it the water was also sent to Nagarjunasagar dam in millions of cusecs. Again with rains pouring down in the upper region and the water level is on the rise in Srisailam dam.
Since yesterday there is a heavy flow at the dam and so the officials of the project lifted few gates partially by few metres and released the water to downstream. But the officials failed to estimate the flow and this resulted in the water overflowing above the crust gates. This is seriously a big mistake and it poses a threat to the dam. This overflow of water is witnessed at 2,3,10,11 and 12 numbered gates. Also the dam has reached danger levels.
Noticing this the officials lifted all the gates of the dam on Tuesday morning. Currently the inflow is 3.69 Lakh cusecs and outflow is 3.08 Lakh cusecs. Reacting on the media reports, chief engineer of Srisailam dam project Narayana Reddy said the water flowing from crust gates is not at a problem and they are continuously monitoring the inflow and outflow of the water.
The chief engineer further said that they are deliberately not releasing the water to down so as to use it for power generation and to supply water to the Telugu states. “If the water is released, it will go to the sea as all the projects interlinked to Srisailam are full capacity,” added Narayana Reddy.
Irrespective of the chief engineer’s analysis, Srisailam dam needs a better understanding of water flow because any unwanted incident could have serious impact.

T-PCC post: A Test for Revanth Reddy
A week back or so there came reports that Malkajgiri MP Revanth Reddy would be appointed as the chief of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). As and when this news broke out, seniors in Telangana Congress openly expressed their disapproval and this has reached the Congress high command. So no decision is taken on TPCC chief post yet Revanth hasn’t stopped making his efforts in convincing interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
On one hand it’s Congress leaders pressure and on the other it’s Revanth’s force. Unable to get on with it, Sonia Gandhi got an idea to handle the issue as sensitively as possible and find a solution. She came up with a thought that Revanth has to get an approval from all dissent leaders in T’Congress and then she promised to make him TPCC chief.
Taking up this task, Revanth started to pacify the Reddy community leaders in the party first. He is said to be holding talks with as many Reddy leaders as possible on day-to-day basis. Later he is planning to have a word with senior leaders who hail from other communities.
Convincing his community leaders is not a big deal for Revanth but it is the likes of V Hanumantha Rao, Congress Legislature party leader Bhatti Vikramarka and other prominent faces who are bluntly against Revanth.
Sonia Gandhi did not fix any time frame for this task but at the same time Revanth should pull the socks up as BJP is slowly spreading its wings in Telangana. Will he succeed? Let’s see!
Who Is Vijayashanti’s Favourite In Young Heroines?
Returning back to the silver screen after taking a gap of thirteen years, veteran heroine Vijayashanti became a talk of the town in no time. She was a superstar back then who has commanded pay on par with the likes of Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna, but eventually, she confined herself to solo films. When quizzed about the present generation heroines, the senior actress has an interesting take.
“None of the present-day heroines has impressed me” reveals Vijayashanti outrightly, as she says that lots of girls are working here but not have that focus. “We used to work 24×7 to do almost 17-18 films in a year. But these days actresses are luxuriously picking 2-3 films in a year and cooling their heels. I don’t see these women doing anything impressive” she articulated.
Well, working hard is something different from time to time. Back then, the technology is different and the kind of stories filmmakers picked are different. Stars like NTR and Krishna used to wrap films in just 20 days schedule. But in the modern era, the story and backdrop are so huge that they take easily 100-120 days to wrap a simple film.
On that note, actresses can’t work round the clock to deliver a dozen films in a year and also they won’t get that many opportunities too. Maybe, Vijayashanti should think ahead of her times.
Three TRS leaders to meet Shah and join BJP?
If the speculations doing rounds in the social media are to be believed, at least three Telangana Rashtra Samithi leaders, including two MLAs, will be joining the Bharatiya Janata Party next week.
According to sources, the three leaders – Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao, Bajireddy Goverdhan and Jupally Krishna Rao are going to meet Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah soon and would be joining the BJP on September 17, when Shah is going to address a rally in Hyderabad on the occasion of Telangana liberation day.
Jupally, a former minister, is feeling sidelined in the party ever since he was defeated in the December 2018 elections in Kollapur constituency in the hands of Congress candidate Beeram Harshavardhan Reddy.
Reddy later joined the TRS along with 11 others. Since then, Beeram is dominating the TRS in Kollapur and since then, Jupally has been sulking.
On the other hand, TRS MLA from Malkajgiri Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao and senior MLA from Nizamabad (Rural) Bajireddy Goverdhan also have been sulking for being ignored by the TRS bosses who are angry with them for not preventing the victory of opposition candidates in Congress leader A Revanth Reddy from Malkajgiri and BJP leader D Aravind from Nizamabad in the parliament elections.
Sources said the three leaders had a meeting in the residence of Mynampalli in Malkajjgiri to chalk out their action plan and take a decision to join the BJP.
My Home to acquire yet another media house?
My Home Group, headed by industrialist and real estate tycoon Jupalli Rameshwar Rao, who has been acquiring one media house after the other in Telangana, is now all set to take over yet another popular newspaper and its associated television channel in Hyderabad.
According to highly placed sources, the media house, which is known for its blatant pro-Telugu Desam Party stand and has been critical of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and YSR Congress party governments in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively, has struck a deal with the My Home Group for a whopping Rs 700 crore.
In all probability, the deal will formalized in a week or two and the negotiations are in their final stages.
“If this media house is also acquired by My Home Group, there is hardly anybody who can question the ruling party, at least in Telangana,” a source said.
It is a known fact that Rameshwara Rao is closer to TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and in fact, there is a talk that it is KCR who is indirectly taking control over the media houses one after the other through My Home Group.
Already, the group has taken over two popular channels – TV9 and 10TV and is said to be in the process of acquiring major stakes in another popular channel NTV.
However, the group has so far not laid its hands over the print medium. If the latest acquisition materializes, it will be foraying into the print medium as well.
TDP firm on protest, police take preventive steps
Amaravati: Prohibitory orders have been imposed in the Palnadu region of the Guntur district as the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh has called for a march on Wednesday to protest increasing attacks on its workers by the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). The YSRCP also plans to organise a counter march.
Director General of Police Gowtham Sawang said here on Tuesday, no meeting, rally, procession or protest could be staged in the region as Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code and Section 30 of the Police Act were in force.
With the TDP firm on staging the protest ‘Chalo Atmakur’, the police chief said nobody should create any law and order problem. The political parties should cooperate with the police in maintaining peace, he added.
TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu said they would go ahead with the protest to highlight the excesses committed on their cadre by the YSRCP leaders. The former chief minister, who will be leading the march, has asked party leaders and workers to stage protests wherever the police stop them.
Stating that the TDP will go ahead with the protest, Naidu’s son and party general secretary Nara Lokesh tweeted their struggle would continue till justice was done to the victims of violence perpetrated by the YSRCP.
The TDP alleged eight party workers had been killed, most of them in the Palnadu region, in the attacks by the YSRCP leaders. Over 500 TDP activists and sympathisers had been attacked since the announcement of election results in May, it added.
Naidu will be meeting the victims violence at a camp in Guntur, set up by the TDP.
To counter the TDP’s ‘Chalo Atmakur’ march, the YSRCP has decided to stage its own protest with victims of the attacks by TDP leaders.
YSRCP spokesman Ambati Rambabu said despite facing crushing defeat in the elections Naidu was resorting to gimmicks. The YSRCP at its rally would highlight the repression by TDP on its cadres, he said.
Watch: Tangible Delivery is the Key Success of Jagan
The people of Andhra Pradesh are extremely happy with YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, as he is fulfilling every promise that he had made during the election campaign and in his election manifesto in letter and spirit, says industrialist, film producer and politician Potluri Vara Prasad, popularly known as PVP.
Analysing Jagan’s 100-day rule, PVP said in a statement that tangible delivery was the key point of Jagan’s governance.
“By the end of the day, what matters to the people is whether the ruling party is fulfilling its promises or not. Jagan is fulfilling all his pre-election promises. Some have already been delivered, which is what makes the people satisfied,” he said.
Rubbishing the negative campaign by the TDP and the yellow media against Jagan’s government, PVP said during the regime of Jagan’s father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, too, the same yellow gang had unleashed a similar smear campaign in the first year.
“Only after YSR’s welfare schemes started penetrating into the people did this gang go silent. Jagan, too, has delivered some programmes within 100 days and announced a roadmap for the fulfillment of other promises,” he asserted.
PVP pointed out that Jagan was the only chief minister in India who had come out with an action plan providing documentary support for tenant farmers to enable them get working capital from banks.
“It was Jagan who has created the concept of five deputy CMs and today other states are following it. Providing 50 per cent reservation to Backward Classes in the allocation of ministerial posts is another revolutionary step that our government has taken in 100 days,” said PVP, who contested unsuccessfully from Vijayawada Loksabha constituency on YSRCP ticket in the recently held parliament elections.
YSRC plans counter-rally at Palnadu
Reacting sharply to September 11’s “Chalo Atmakur” rally call given by Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu against the alleged atrocities by YSR Congress party leaders against the TDP workers in Palnadu region, the YSRC on Tuesday came out with a counter-campaign.
The YSRC also gave a call for “Chalo Atmakur” rally on September 11 by the victims of alleged attacks by the TDP leaders during the Naidu regime in the last five years to highlight their terror tales.
The YSRC is also organizing a rehabilitation camp for TDP terror victims at Pidiguralla.
YSRC leaders Mopidevi Venkataramana, Ambati Rambabu, Gopireddy Srinivas Reddy, Bolla Brahmanaidu and Lavu Srikrishnadevarayulu told reporters that Naidu was trying to make an issue out of non-issue by building a false impression that Palanadu region of the district is steeped in violence.
To counter the false propaganda of the TDP, YSRC will organize “Chalo Atmakur” rally on the same day at the same place where the TDP planned a rally.
The victims of TDP’s violence during the Naidu regime will narrate their tale of vows and show the world how the then ruling party had harassed the opposition Party leaders and supporters in the past.
They alleged that during the previous government, YSRCP leaders, workers and sympathisers were driven out of their villages, false cases were foisted on them and were harassed in Narsaraopeta, Vinukonda, Sathenapalli, Chilakuripeta and other constituencies of the district, they said.
The Chalo Atmakuru will expose the misdeeds of TDP leaders while they were in power and the real victims will tell about their experiences, YSRCP leaders said.
