PayTm losses tripled to Rs 4,217 cr!
The mobile wallet service PayTm has posted a huge loss of Rs 4,217 crore for the financial year 2018-19 that ended on March 31st. For the previous financial year, PayTm posted Rs 1,604.34 crore losses and when compared to this year’s loss, it almost tripled (162%) and on an average, PayTm is reporting a loss of Rs 11 crore per day.
The Noida-based company’s total revenue rose to Rs 3,579.67 crore in FY19 against Rs 3,309 crore but it is the expenses that got doubled to Rs 7,730.14 crore in the year and resulted in huge losses. The likes Google-Pay, Phone Pe and other mobile wallets are also hurting PayTm’s business. Another service called Paytm Money too reported a net loss of Rs 36.8 crore.
Nevertheless, an internal survey by an investment bank reveals that PayTm will enter profits in the year 2021 and in the next five years i.e, by 2026, PayTm will be leading a force in mobile wallet payments. The focus is more on payments bank, insurance, travel ticketing, hotel and other mobile wallet services as PayTm believe it could generate good revenues in the coming years. Accordingly PayTm is planning to invest $3 billion in the next two years and hopes to turnaround the fortunes of the company. One97 Communications Ltd is the parent of PayTm.
It’s the automobile sector that is badly hit and like never before in the last two decades, the sales of two and four wheeler have come down and when the recession is in the corner, PayTm which made a big name post 2016 demonetisation, too incurred huge losses which is a cause of concern.
Buzz: Athadu Touch In Mahesh’s Sarileru Neekevvaru
Superstar Mahesh is getting ready to enthral cinema lovers oncoming Sankranthi with his Sarileru Neekevvaru that got Anil Ravipudi handling the direction. As the director is known for this set of comedy dosage in any content he picks up, surely expectations are high on this movie.
A buzz is now doing rounds that the story of this film Sarileru Neekevvaru is going to be a bit similar to that of Athadu movie. In that Trivikram directorial, actually Mahesh Babu comes up as Pardhu, in the place of an accidentally killed Rajeev Kinakala, and the rest of the story takes places with that guy’s family.
Here in Sarileru Neekevvaru, we hear that Mahesh comes up in the place of dead Satyadev, whose name is also Ajay, and what happens there is the rest of the story. Looks like this is nothing but Aagadu with a twist of the profession, there a bad guy comes to rescue and here an honest soldier comes to the rescue.
Anyway, all these story rumours could be confirmed only after the film comes out and till then, they remain just rumours.
‘I did not commit a crime by making Saaho’
The overhyped Saaho, soon after its grand release on 29th of August 2019, was labelled as one of the bad films ever made. In spite of a big-budget film, viewers ridiculed its efforts and director’s work behind the output. On this Director, Sujeeth says he cannot comprehend why the audience has targeted him for the critical failure of Saaho.
‘I made the film that Prabhas sir, my producers, and I believed in. Though there were a vast number of audiences who came to watch the film, I am still a victim here. I did not commit a crime to treat me rudely’, said Sujeeth. With a whopping Rs 350 crore budget, the film made around Rs 400 crore at the box office. The young filmmaker further quoted, ‘All these latest news and reports on me made me blank. My last interview was one day post the release of Saaho. Even my ‘no comments’ statement turned into a controversial interview.’
He also clarified that his statement on Bihar fans wanting to build a temple for him is a rumour. ‘I never passed such a statement. Please show me where I’ve said this. Someone who has nothing to do with the film must have made this statement on YouTube. I am in my senses and such statements sound ridiculous. Temples are built for Rajinikanth sir and Mammootty sir. I don’t deserve such honour and I can only be a devotee at the temple of great actors and great cinema’.
Some films are legitimately poorly executed and criticised, but there is a limit. Saaho has indeed diminished the perspective of the message that they think the movie conveys. After criticizing the quality of the film, confronting the director is wrong on many levels. Sujeeth said that he stopped coming out for all this negativity poured on him.
Petty Politics Force Urmila To Quit Congress
Actress Urmila Matondkar has resigned to the Congress party and seems like she has also made up her mind to leave politics. Just before the general elections, Urmila stepped into politics and this innings of her last for just five months.
The ‘Rangeela’ actress cited reasons for resigning to Congress in a press statement. In it, she mentioned that the Mumbai Congress is doing petty politics instead of strengthening the party.
Urmila expressed surprise over the confidential letter within the party getting leaked to the media while none from the party tried to do the damage control. She was also upset that she made repeated attempts to the leaders of Mumbai Congress to address her concerns but none of them stood by her.
Vexed up with all these Urmila quit the Congress. Urmila contested from Mumbai North Parliament constituency but she lost to BJP’s Gopal Shetty with a margin of nearly five lakh votes.
Big Fight in TRS: Owners Vs Tenants
The comments of ex-Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy has triggered a hot debate among TRS leaders. After Etela Rajender and Rasamayi Balakishan, Naini’s critical remarks indicate that all is not well within ruling TRS as there is a lot of disappointment among party’s senior netas.
Particularly, Naini Narasimha Reddy’s comment of ‘Owners’ versus ‘Tenants’ in the party has brought out the differences between old netas and new netas in the party.
While a section of seniors who have been sailing with the party since the time of Telangana movement, a lot of leaders have jumped into TRS after the formation of the state. Especially, after TRS stormed to power, several leaders from TDP and Congress have joined TRS.
Now, there is a feeling among the hard-core TRS leaders that KCR is giving importance to the leaders who came from other parties. The recent cabinet expansion has fueled to the ongoing rift within the party.
With Sabitha Indra Reddy getting ministry, several TRS aspirators for minister posts are said to be crying foul over the rise of ‘immigrant’ leaders in TRS.
This popped up the debate of ‘Owners’ versus ‘Tenants’. It can be noted that Naini commented, “KCR is the head of the family. We are the owners of the house (TRS). It is the wish of tenants (who came from other political parties) that how long they stay in the house and when they want to leave.”
Overall, it is a storm in TRS. But we have to wait and see whether it will end up like a storm in a teacup or turn out into a real storm.
Target Set For Nani & His Lady Gang!
In the next couple of days, we would be seeing Nani’s latest film Gang Leader in theatres. The film is releasing on September 13th.
Usually, the opening day footfalls and first weekend collections depend upon the hype built around a movie. That will help mint huge numbers irrespective of the collections. Nani has started promotions of Gang Leader a week ago. And the lack of any other big stars in the film including a new heroine are not helping Gang Leader to garner attention.
As the film got sold out for 28 crores across the globe, it is a pretty achievable target as Nani’s previous films made 30 crores ‘share’ from the box office easily even with ordinary content and average talk.
But to mint extraordinarily within short time and before the arrival of other films like Valmiki and Sye Raa, surely Nani needs to rake up more buzz.
With the pre-release event of the film scheduled for today evening, hope that the buzz around Vikram K Kumar’s Gang Leader picks up.

Lavanya Tripati Hits At Brahmin MP’s ‘Caste’ Tweet
These days actresses across all the film industries land in one or the other controversy. With the help of social media, they are expressing their opinion but it is inviting mixed reactions. Despite that they are not stopping. Flamboyant beauty Lavanya Tripathi is the new entrant and she made some interesting remarks on ‘CASTE’ but she deleted it later to avoid controversy.
Going in details, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla took part in the ‘Akhila Brahmin Maha Sabha’ held in Kota during the weekend. Sharing the pictures, Om Birla tweeted, “Brahmins have always held a high position in society. This place is the result of his sacrifice, penance. This is the reason why Brahmin society has always been in the role of guide.”
This drew flak from netizens as Om Birla is holding a constitutional position and he cannot make such comments related to a particular caste. Joining the netizens, Lavanya too criticized Om Birla and wrote, “Being a Brahmin, I don’t understand this whole superiority feeling some of these Brahmins have, you become superior or inferior through the acts, not through your caste.”
However, Lavanya deleted the tweeted within minutes after posting it. May be she did it to stay away from controversy but the netizens are too quick for her. They took screenshot of Lavanya’s tweet and appreciated her for the comments.
RDX Love Trailer: Waah! What A Changeover!
RDX Love teaser received so much flak for the overdose of adult stuff. Female lead Payal Rajput and producer C. Kalyan were at the receiving end.
Surprisingly the theatrical trailer of the same film looks entirely different without any sleaze. It now looks like a typical female oriented action film with Payal Rajput mouthing punch dialogues.
This is clearly a conscious attempt to avoid the criticism. What happened to all that sleazy sex stuff in the teaser?
Perhaps the makers believe that they had grabbed the attention of target audience already and hence tried to save face with the theatrical trailer cut.
On a whole, now RDX Love is reminiscent of a Kannada dubbed B grade action flick.
Jagan seeks to improve relations with media!
YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who has been maintaining distance from the media, seems to have at last understood the need to improve the relations with the media.
Apparently coming to know about a spate of negative reports in the media, especially the natonal media, against his government with regard to various decisions taken by him in the last 100 days, Jagan reportedly called his media wing team for a brief meeting on Monday afternoon.
He enquired about how the media had responded to his 100-day rule, he was shocked to know the response from the media team.
They reportedly told him that the media coverage was not so encouraging and there is a need to improve the system of media management and public relations.
Apparently, the media wing told Jagan that the officials are not cooperating with them in taking the government decisions into the media and public.
Jagan immediately asked them to bring it to the notice of his communications advisor G V D Krishna Mohan and asked them to work out a strategy.
The media team in the CMO reportedly suggested to Jagan that he should start meeting editors and team leaders of various media houses.
They told him that NTV chairman Narendra Chowdary had sought an appointment with the chief minister and sent reminders several times.
Jagan immediately asked his personal staff to fix the appointment with NTV Chowdary at the earliest. He also directed that appointments be given to media heads, one person per week, so that he could develop rapport with the media.
He, however, said he did not want to give interviews to any media house till he completes at least one year in office.
The other day, Sakshi TV team was in Vijayawada to do an interview with Jagan on the completion of 100 years, but he flatly refused to give an interview at least till he completes one year.
Andhra people then, Centre now: KCR blame game!
TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao used to blame Andhra for all the problems and backwardness in Telangana region during Telangana statehood agitation.
He continued to blame Andhra even after bifurcation of state, formation of Telangana State and becoming Chief Minister of Telangana,
KCR now started blaming Central Government for all the problems and financial mess in Telangana.
How long KCR wants to survive by putting blame on Andhra and Centre for his failures as CM?
As per his demand, AP was bifurcated and Telangana State was created. Telangana people made him CM for two terms.
KCR already completed five years as CM.
After five years, when KCR himself presented the budget in Assemblyyesterdat, it exposed how KCR turned a revenue-surplus state into a pauper with his financial indiscipline, foolish decisions, lack of priorities, lack of vision and direction.
Telangana had a debt burden of just Rs 71,000 crore when AP was bifurcated.
Thanks to KCR’s financial indisipline, the debt burden has now touched Rs 3 lakh crore, as per KCR’s own Budget.
KCR revealed that the government is paying Rs 15,000 crore as interest per year on these loans.
KCR said that Telangana is is deep financial crisis and blamed Centre for the present financial mess.
KCR says it’s the Centre which takes decisions on fiscal policy and all states have to simply follow it.
Who asked KCR to give cash dole outs to people in the name of welfare schemes to win elections?
Who asked KCR to give Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, Kanti Velugu, Kalyana Laxmi, Shadi Mubarak, free 24×7 power to agriculture, Kalyana Laxmi, Shadi Mubarak,KCR kits, Aasara pensions, redesign Kaleshwaram, Palamur Rangareddy projects etc and increase their costs multiple times to get commissions from contractors?
Who asked KCR to start Mission Bhagiratha by spending Rs 40,000 crore which benefitted contractors and pipe manufacturing companies more than people as if people in Telangana were not getting drinking water till KCR started Mission Bhagiratha.
KCR should explain why he should demolish Secreatariat which has the capacity to serve for few more decades, why construct a new Assembly when the existing Assembly can serve the needs for few more decades, why KCR should spend Rs 1,000 crore on new Assembly and Secretariat?
KCR shoudl realise that the fault lies with him, his financial indiscipline, his laziness of confining to Pragathi Bhavan and farmhouse and not coming to office, his lack ofplanning and executing the things and his approach of buying votes by spending public money in the name of cash dole outs for welfare schemes.
Unless KCR rectifies his mitakes, there is nothing KCR will achieve by putting the blame on Andhra and Centre for present financial crisis in TS.
KCR’s famous dialogue during statehood agitation was “Telangana is not backward, but Andhra people made it backward.’
Now, Telangana people started saying, “Telangana is not a poor state but KCR made it poor with his mindless schemes and financial indiscipline.”
