Relax, Vijay Deverakonda’s Hero Is Not Shelved
Just because Vijay Deverakonda’s latest film Dear Comrade underperformed at the boxoffice, the knives and claws are out in the Andhra film industry.
Rivals are gleefully writing epitaphs for his career. And the rival camps are celebrating. One entitled (read: star kid) A-list hero even told me, “It was too much too soon for Deverakonda. This myth of his superstardom was being created by his PR machinery.”
Firstly, Vijay’s stardom is no myth. And if Vijay could create a myth if stardom for himself he would have created it for his brother too. In the 8 years of his career Vijay has featured in at least 5 major successes.
Sure, Dear Rivals, Dear Comrade didn’t do as well as it was expected to. There were various factors contributing to this setback, one of them being the audiences’ over-expectation. Also, many felt the character Vijay played was too similar to what he did in Arjun Reddy.
Be as it might, the glee with which the failure of Dear Comrade was greeted by a section of the Telugu film industry was nauseating.
Why not celebrate every success in the Telugu film industry and commiserate every failure? And why spread nasty rumours about an actor just because his last film didn’t do well?
The “reliable” reports that have appeared in many section of the media suggest that the producers of the Deverakonda starrer Hero have panicked and shut shop after Dear Comrade.
A ‘source’ has been quoted as saying, “The production house was not pleased with the output and could not arrive at a conclusion with the director on how to take it forward from here. Hence, they have decided to drop the film, despite spending Rs 15 crore on its making so far.”
However Vijay rubbishes these reports. When I spoke to him he said, “I’m shooting for Hero right now. It’s a film based bike racing.”
As for the bitching backbiting and backlash Vijay has one magic mantra for self-preservation. “Do your work. Let others do what they think right.”
The anti-wave is disturbing, to say the least. There are more factions and camps in Telugu cinema than in Bollywood. Why can’t there be room for everyone?
Pic Talk: Terrific Common DP For 44 Yrs Of Rajinism
On August 18, 1975, a bus conductor named Shivajirao Gaikwad from Bangalore made his acting debut with legendary Tamil director K Balachander’s Apoorva Raagangal. The actor went on to become Super Star Rajinikanth, the biggest star the country has ever seen.
Tomorrow, Rajini’s debut film turns 44 years. On this occasion, his die-hard fans are making the hashtag #44YearsOfRajinism go viral on social media along with this terrific common display picture. The poster has a silhouetted Rajini standing against some of his iconic characters, including Kaala, Kabali and Baba.
What’s striking about the poster is the caption “Only he can stand against himself”, which elevates Rajini’s heroism.
Protests In London Over Kashmir Issue
Several hundreds of Kashmiri supporters have gathered to protest outside Indian High Commission in London, at the time when United Nations Security Council (UNSC) was doing a closed door informal meeting to talk about Kashmir on Friday. The protesters gave slogans to free Kashmir by displaying banners and holding Pakistani flags.
Also, they (protestors) lodged a complaint saying that government of India locked down Kashmir, detained several people and not allowing any information to go out. Agitators have appealed that UN should pressurise India to withdraw Union Territory status to Jammu & Kashmir.
One of them who’s leading the protest said that she cannot speak to her parents in Kashmir in last 12 days. She started that ‘India has not just detained Kashmir, but also imposed curfew in the region’. The protestor further alleged that “I don’t know the status of my parents and I don’t understand whether they are able to get food & medicine. It’s disheartening and has angered a lot more people.”
Ever since Narendra Modi’s government has scrapped provisions of Article 370 which abrogated special status to Jammu & Kashmir, the protests against India have become severe. UN has called for this informal meeting after China made an appeal in this regard.
Prabhas Floors His Fans With Fluent Tamil
After the Hindi version’s promotions in Mumbai and Hyderabad for the Telugu version, the makers of Prabhas’ keenly awaited action thriller ‘Saaho’ flew down to Chennai earlier this evening to kick-start promotions for the film’s Tamil version.
While the special attraction at the press meet was definitely Prabhas, the macho actor has won his Tamil fans’ hearts by speaking in fluent Tamil. A video from the press meet has been going viral on social media in which Prabhas is seen answering the show’s hostess’ questions in fluent Tamil.
When asked if he has any plans to act in a direct Tamil film, Prabhas said that he was born in Chennai and that he has been waiting for the right script for his debut Tamil film. Prabhas also thanked his Tamil fans for their support and love.
Prabhas’ popularity among his Tamil fans increased by leaps and bounds ever since the release of Baahubali The Beginning 4 years ago. Saaho is simultaneously shot in Tamil along with the Telugu and Hindi versions. Whether the film can recreate Baahubali’s magic or not will be known on August 30th.
Charmme To Bring Vijay Devarkonda’s Fan As A Heroine
Director Puri Jagannadh and his production partner Charmme Kaur have excited audiences by announcing that they are teaming up with young sensation Vijay Devarakonda. As there are widespread rumours that Ismart Shankar is something written by Vijay before Ram came aboard, surely this combination sounded like ‘double ismart’.
And now, we hear that the casting process of this combination’s film has already begun. Long back in an episode of Koffee With Karan, Bollywood’s star kid Janhvi Kapoor revealed that she is a huge fan of Vijay Devarakonda. Since then there are rumours here and now about the possibility of bringing her aboard for this hero’s film. And it might be a reality now.
A source in the know revealed that Charmme is in talks with Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s elder daughter, and if all goes well, the Bollywood starlet might make her south debut. With her mother being a big superstar down South before she actually conquered the north, we have to see how Janhvi takes the legacy forward.
Complete change in Vijay Devarakonda
Maybe it’s the failure of Dear Comrade or maybe it’s a personal decision, but there is a significant change in Vijay Devarakonda.
The hero who has a good following among the youth of Telangana carries a ‘rowdy image’, a hangover from Arjun Reddy. This reflects in his attitude, body language and the way he interacts with the media.
All the aforementioned elements were completely missing when he attended the SIIMA event.
It was a different Devarakonda that the public got to see. The young hero has recently joined hands with mass director Puri Jagannath for an upcoming project.
Maybe this change in style is a conscious decision to reach out to other sections of audience as well.
Venky twists his leg on ‘Venky Mama’ sets
Hero Venkatesh sustained a sprain to his leg while shooting for his upcoming movie ‘Venky Mama.’ Venky immediately consulted a doctor and as per their advised, he would be taking rest for next couple of days.
So the shooting of episodes related to Venkatesh are called off as of now.
The makers of ‘Venky Mama’ have planned to release the film for Dussehra and are now worried about it.
We hear that few important episodes and an action sequence involving Venky and Naga Chaitanya are yet to be shot. There is an uncertainty following Venky’s minor injury and its recovery.
‘Venky Mama’ is being directed by KS Ravindra (Bobby) while Suresh Productions and People Media Factory are jointly producing the movie.
Raashi Khanna and Paayal Rajput are playing the female lead roles.
A free ride along with food for this Hyderabadi youth
Hyderabad: Food apps have made things easy for people to order food from comforts of their homes and satiate their hunger, but here is a case where a Zomato user in Hyderabad used it to reach his destination.
A Facebook post of Obesh Komirisetty went viral on Friday with many on the social media site lauding his innovative thinking to hitch the ride with the food-delivery boy after he was left stranded at a shopping mall in Hitec City, the information technology hub.
Obesh revealed through a Facebook post last week that he had to come out with the novel idea to reach his home as he was unable to find public transport or a cab.
“It was around 11.50 p.m. I am at Inorbit Mall road and looking for an auto but couldn’t find anything to reach my room. So I opened Uber app but ride fares were high… around 300 Rs and also I am little hungry,” wrote Obesh, who is from Vijayawada and lives in Hyderabad.
“I just opened Zomato and searched for food shops around me, I found one Dosa Bandi near me and ordered Egg Dosa. The delivery boy came and he was going to pick up my order at Dosa Bandi. So I called him and said this is my order, I asked him to drop me in the delivery location (My Room Address). So he dropped me along with order at my room. And he asked me ‘sir, please give 5 star rating’. I said OK. Thanks to Zomato for the free ride,” says the youth’s social media post.
Many on social media loved Obesh’s innovative thinking and called him a genius. Some even called him a legend.
Zomato also replied to Obesh with the comment “modern problems require modern solutions”.
47 YSRC MLAs follow Jagan in US tour?
It looks like YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is not going to get a peace of mind even during his holidaying in the US.
Jagan arrived in the US to a rousing welcome in the Washington DC Airport when he landed there in the evening (as per Indian Standard Time).
But what surprised him was the presence of several YSRC leaders from Andhra Pradesh among hundreds of people who came to the airport to receive him.
According to sources, as many as 47 MLAs of the YSR Congress party flew to the US well ahead of Jagan’s visit.
This is apart from leaders like Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams chairman Y V Subba Reddy, Rajampet MP P Mithun Reddy and MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy who went along with Jagan.
While many MLAs might have gone there to join the celebrations by Telugu NRIs who have planned massive reception for Jagan at Dallas Convention Centre, where he is set to address the Telugu diaspora, many others are understood to have gone to the US with a hope that he would be relatively free in the US to able to talk to them.
“It is next to impossible to meet Jagan in Amaravati, as he will be completely engaged with his official work. Even at the party meetings, it is not possible to have free-wheeling interaction with him. So, they thought during his US visit, he will have ample free time to talk them and that they can get their works done,” a source said.
However, what the MLAs seem to have forgotten that Jagan had gone to the US on his personal visit, though he had fixed a few official engagements, like addressing the NRIs at Dallss, meeting industrialists, representatives of commercial establishments and US diplomats.
He has dedicated his complete time to his family for three days on August 19, 20 and 21.
“So, there is hardly any time for him to meet the MLAs there. Obviously, he wants to keep himself away from all hustle-bustle and spend some quality time with his family,” the source added.
Prabhas’ Shocking Counter To Media On Rumours
Prabhas and Anushka Shetty are one of the favourite on-screen couples for movie lovers. Especially, post Baahubali films, the couple have become famous across the country and rumours about their “relationship” became talking point every now and then. While Anushka Shetty is not part of Saaho, still, rumours are afloat about Prabhas and Anushka. In fact, Prabhas had openly denied rumours about his relationship with Anushka and condemned the reports of their marriage. Prabhas had maintained that Anushka is a good friend.
Even after so much clarification on so many times, still, the popular perception among a section of people and media is that the duo is seeing each other. A section of English media has went onto write that Prabhas and Anushka are going to marry soon and they are scouting for a house in Mumbai.
Cut to the present, Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor and the whole team of Saaho are promoting the film ahead of its release on 30th August. When an English media questioned Prabhas about his relationship with Anushka , Prabhas reply was shocking and come as a counter to media.
Prabhas reiterated that Anushka and him are just good friends. “If there is any special relation between Anushka and me other than friendship, it would have been different. In last two years, did anyone see Anushka and me together? Did anyone spot us together somewhere? Even in Karan Johar show when I was questioned about it, Rajamouli and Rana had clarified it. I didn’t make them say so. They have told it honestly. So there is nothing between us and we are just good friends.”
Restoring YSR Statue- To Satisfy Ego?
A few months back, late CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s statue on the main road near to police control room in Vijayawada was removed by the previous TDP government. Then YSRCP leader Vangaveeti Radha staged a huge protest and it was in headlines for the next couple of days. The issue got settled but the statue was not restored.
After the death of YSR, ex-MP Lagadapati Rajagopal set up this statue in the 2011. Post the bifurcation, Vijayawada becoming the capital, the traffic increased multi-fold in the region. Also YSR’s statue being in the main junction became a hurdle for commuters. During the Krishna Pushkaralu, the traffic issue turned severe and the authorities removed YSR’s statue and made a four-way junction. By planting saplings and setting up new sculptures, this road became a hurdle free for daily commuters.
The ruling YSRCP government has decided to restore YSR’s statue at this very junction and works have already begun. The sculptures and plants were removed overnight and the road is now going to get congested again. This time, YSR’s statue is expected to be bigger than the previous one which means it will occupy a lot of space eventually the commuters will be suffering. We hear that YSRCP is planning a big event for the statue inauguration and CM Jagan might also attend.
This is yet another example of the revengeful attitude of YSRCP government. Instead of doing things what they have promised, they are focused on the works done by TDP government and doing the anti of it. Not at all needed!
My Son’s Defeat Depressed Me: Ex Deputy CM Cries
Ex Deputy CM of AP KE Krishnamurthy has turned emotional. He has cried and had tears in his eyes during his meeting with his followers, party workers and leaders on August 15.
Teary-eyed KE admitted that his son KE Shyam Babu’s defeat in the elections has depressed him and disturbed him. He said he has done so many development works in the constituency and still his son KE Shyam Babu was defeated by large margin.
Pathikonda constituency incharge KE Shyam Babu was also present at the meet and Shyam Babu also felt sad as his father got emotional.
Pathikonda is TDP’s bastion. A lot of works were carried under our government. Still my son Shyam had lost by over 42,000 votes. More than defeat, it is the majority that had pushed me into low,” said KE Krishnamurthy who had also held portfolios like Revenue, Stamps & Registration along with Deputy CM in Naidu’s government from 2014 to 2019.
KE said he would respect people’s mandate. He urged the people, partyworkers and leaders to support his son KE Shyam Babu and asked them to make him win in the next elections. He asked everyone to back his son KE Shyam.
He hailed TDP leaders and workers for not switching to YCP. He said TDP leaders, party activists continue to stay in the party despite difficulties being created by YCP workers. KE Krishnamurthy vowed to standby TDP karyakarthas.
Meanwhile, KE has also lambasted CM YS Jagan over reverse tendering of Polavaram and reworking on clean-energy PPAs.
Lokesh Trolled For His Tweet on Floods
Nara Lokesh’s shocking allegation that ruling YCP is conspirinig to flood their residence at Undavalli has become the center of jokes. Lokesh alleged that YCP leaders have resorted to stop water flow with the help of boats thus in turn it would create flood near Chandrababu’s Undavalli residence in which he is living on rent. Lokesh said the boats “planted” by YCP near the gates of barrage came out due to the force of water from three to four gates. He asked ruling YCP leaders to use their “brains” in ruling but not in creating difficulties to Opposition leaders.
“YCP leaders tried to sink a few boats to stop the water from passing through the gates. Now the boats are coming out of the gates due to the speed of the water flow. The intention was to submerge our leader Chandrababu Naidu’s residence by increasing the water level upstream of Prakasam barrage,” wrote Nara Lokesh on his micro-blogging site.
Netizens have come down heavily on Lokesh’s comments on conspiring floods. They shot back at Lokesh saying how can one “create flood” and “divert” it towards Naidu’s residence. The politicizing of the flood issue by TDP and the use of “Drone Cameras” over Naidu’s residence – that was claimed by Irrigation Department to stock the flood situation – have all embarassed the TDP at the end.
In fact, several pro-TDP leaders too finding fault with Lokesh’s tweet. Earlier, Lokesh’s comments on Bandhar Port being shifted to Telangana by KCR too got shocking replies from netizens. Yet again, Lokesh is becoming soft target for trolls. Lokesh’s tweets and comments are turning big head-ache to party seniors who are caught off-guard.
It is high time, Lokesh should be careful while communicating on social platforms.
