Evaru Review: Sabhash Sesh!
Evaru is a remake of Spanish film Contratiempo which was recently remade in Hindi as Badla. Although the main plot remains the same, Evaru has a different screenplay compared to the original.
What is it about?
Sameera (Regina) is facing murder charges for killing Ashok (Naveen Chandra). A corrupt cop Vikram Vasudev (Sesh) takes up her case and tries to cover up the loopholes by getting into the details of it.
Performances:
Sesh is impressive as the corrupt cop. He gives a new spin to the protagonist of the original and it is delightful to watch. Regina is a very good performer and she rarely got to play characters that truly tested her potential. Naveen Chandra is good as a cop that has temperamental issues. Murali Sharma is good in one of the key characters.
Technicalities:
Venkat Ramji has a solid source material to deal with which made his job easy. His direction is deft and keeps the audiences invested in the story. Screenplay changes that he made to the original film are impressive.
Music by Sri Charan is captivating. Dialogues have gone overboard at times. Cinematography is neat and production design is adequate. Production values are okay.

Analysis:
Contratiempo is a very famous Spanish film that is popular with anybody who has access to the movie streaming platforms. Additionally, it was remade in Hindi as Badla, which was a runaway blockbuster. Therefore, remaking the original by staying faithful to it may not yield desired results. Hence, Sesh and Ramji have altered the screenplay by keeping all the key twists and turns in the original screenplay intact. This approach gives a new look and feel to the same story, which may not seem too familiar to the audience that have already watched the original or remakes.
It is quite a risky task to alter an acclaimed film’s screenplay as it could spoil the output. But Team Evaru took a chance and made some intelligent changes to the narrative that almost delivers the twists as effective as its original. The original plot was too complex and too hard to believe even though it offers ultimate entertainment. The changes made to this script simplifies many complicated things and also makes the final twist more plausible than the original.
However, they tried to too hard to give more excitement than the original film by throwing in many twists. The film would have been the same even if they had done away with a couple of twists. Evaru will be a thrilling experience to those who haven’t seen the original and even the audience that are aware of the story wouldn’t complain much to watch it again. Films like these have limited appeal, which may limit its commercial reach. Nevertheless, Evaru will keep the impressive track record of Sesh intact for sure.

SariLeru Neekevvaru Theme Song: Perfect Tribute to Indian Army
On the occasion of Independence Day, the makers of SariLeru Neekevvaru released the theme song which is the title song from the film.
SariLeru Neekevvaru theme song is a perfect tribute to every Indian soldier guarding the country.
The lyrics are top class and reveals about the dedication of army soldiers and how they work in the extreme conditions. The tune looks fresh and it is impressive.
Mahesh plays an Army Major Ajay Krishna in this action drama and SariLeru Neekevvaru is not a full-length army film.
The team released the video to make it a perfect tribute for Indian Army on Independence Day which is a smart move. Mahesh’s look which was unveiled on his birthday won accolades from the audience.
Directed by Anil Ravipudi, SariLeru Neekevvaru is currently shooting in Hyderabad. The film releases for Sankranthi 2020. Rashmika Mandanna is the female lead and Devi Sri Prasad is composing the tunes.
Jagan seeks Central aid for linking Krishna, Godavari
Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has sought assistance from the Centre for the proposed scheme to link Godavari and Krishna rivers to provide water for irrigation, drinking purpose and to cater to industry’s requirements in backward and drought-prone districts.
In a letter to Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Wednesday, the Chief Minister stressed providing required funds for the scheme.
Jagan Reddy said it was proposed to supplement about 480 TMC (thousand million cubic feet) of Godavari waters to Krishna river reservoirs by diverting at the rate of four TMC per day from Godavari river to Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar for 120 days.
The proposed scheme for diversion of Godavari water to Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar reservoirs can be taken up through suitable agreements between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for mutual benefit of both states, he wrote.
He informed the Central minister that the chief ministers and officials of both the states discussed the scheme which will benefit the Rayalaseema districts and also Prakasam and Nellore districts besides stabilizing the cut under Guntur, Krishna and West Godavari in Andhra Pradesh and Mahaboobnagar, Nalgonda, Khammam and parts of Ranga Reddy districts in Telangana.
In order to explore various alternatives feasible for diversion of water from Godavari river to Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar reservoirs, an expert committee was constituted.
Jagan Reddy pointed out that the Rayalaseema region, Nellore and Prakasam districts of Andhra Pradesh are perennially drought prone.
The cultivable area in these six districts is 98.89 lakh acre, which is nearly 50 per cent of the total cultivable area of 199.04 lakh acres in the state.
The inflows into Srisailam reservoir, which is the main source of supply for three region, are getting reduced year after year. The average inflow received into Srisailam, the starting point of Krishna waters into Andhra Pradesh during the last 52 years is 1128 TMC, whereas the same in last 10 years is reduced to 632 TMC and in the last 5 years, it was further reduced to 416 TMC.
“This shows that the inflows into Srisailam reservoir is reduced by about 63% in the last 5 years compared to the average of last 52 years. This is due to construction of new projects and more utilization in the upper states of Maharashtra and Karnataka,” he said.
Jagan Reddy wrote that with the proposed raising of the crest level of Almatti dam from 519.6 meters to 524.256 meters, the storage capacity will increase by another 100 TMC and the inflows into Srisailam reservoir will further get reduced.
He said that as there is availability of surplus flows in Godavari, there is immediate need to explore ways to divert water from Godavari basin to Krishna basin.
Jagan calls for transparency in all purchases
YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is insisting that there should be no scope for any corruption even if it involves small purchases of Rs 1 crore.
At an official review meeting, the chief minister instructed that any purchase which exceeds Rs one crore should hereafter be displayed on public domain for transparency and to provide corruption free governance.
He said that there had been scams in the previous government from school uniforms to automobiles but we have to ensure that all deals are done in a fair and transparent manner.
“We have to stem the rot and guide the governance in a proper way which will be acceptable to all. All purchases should be done only by bidding and the contractor’s name should be displayed only after finalization,” he said.
The Chief Minister had also asked the officials to suggest ways and means to carry out the purchases in the most effective and transparent manner.
Adivi Sesh: ‘My Next Release Is All About Secrecy’
Not much is known about Telugu star-actor Adivi Sesh’s next release Evaru which, Adivi informs me, means ‘Who?’
Adivi Sesh is certain that the secrecy surrounding Evaru will work to its advantage.
“It is a suspense film and yes, there is a murder. Beyond that I cannot reveal anything else at this point. All I can say is, it is a suspense film unlike any seen so far in Telugu cinema.”
Adivi has always seen himself as a bit of a game-changer.
“There’s no point in doing it if it’s already been done,” says Adivi.
“In that sense I’ve been lucky. My films, though not quite the conventional/traditional fare in Telugu cinema, have done well, whether it was Kshanam, Oopiri or Goodachari. Luckily for me, this time also in Evaru I was able to surrender completely to the director Venkat Ramji’s vision. I had the luxury of being only an actor on the sets. I hope the audience likes Evaru as much as Goodachari.”
The film releases on August 15.
He is very excited about his next project.
“Major is being produced by Mahesh Babu and it is my first bio-pic. Also it will be my first release in Hindi. We’re making it as a bi-lingual in Hindi and Telugu. So that is another step into an unknown territory for me. There is no reason for me to do a film unless it challenges me in new ways,”
The teaser of the new Adivi Shesh thriller Evaru which was relased on July 19 is a killer. It is sleek, fast-paced, intriguing, gripping and unrelenting in its battering-ram suspense. There is a murder accused heroine (Regina Cassandra) and a morally compromised cop, played with stinging swagger by Adivi.
Says Adivi, “I play a corrupt cop. One never knows which way my character goes. I enjoy this unpredictability in my roles. I seek it out and a grab it with both hands,” says Adivi who is happy to reunite with his Kshanam team for another thriller.
“I loved exploring the thriller genre again. And I loved exploring this genre with the same team with which I did Kshanam. Evaru is like an ‘IOU” for me to them,” says Adivi gratefully, hoping the film would connect as strongly with the audience as Kshanam did.
About the release being preponed Adivi says it’s all because of Saaho.
“We didn’t want to come anywhere near Saaho. So we had originally planned to release two weeks after. But we got to know that Saaho is being postponed to August 30. So we quickly rescheduled for an August 15 release. Now we have Ranarangam for company on August 15. That team comprises my friends. So I wish them all the best.”
What about the two Hindi releases Mission Mangal and Batla House on August 15?
Adivi is not bothered about competition from that quarter. “Hindi films are a very small market as compared with Telugu films. So like I said, my competition is Ranarangam. And then there is Saaho two weeks later. Prabhas has worked so hard on it and he was so good to me when I did a small role in Baahubali, I wish Saaho all the luck in the world.”
Pic Talk: Sree Vishnu from ‘Thippara Meesam’
Young hero Sree Vishnu is coming up with yet another content rich film titled ‘Thippara Meesam.’
Marking Independence Day, the makers have unveiled a brand new poster and it has Sree Vishnu with long and thick beard.
Being written and directed by Krishna Vijay L of ‘Asura’ fame, this is an action drama. Sree Vishnu will sport the beard throughout the film.
Nikki Tamboli is playing the female lead role while Suresh Bobbili is composing music.
‘Thippara Meesam’ shooting has been wrapped up and the post-production works are going. Also the makers are planning to unveil the teaser soon.
Pic Talk: Gopichand in ‘Chanakya’
Macho hero Gopichand and his team of ‘Chanakya’ have wished all Indians a Happy Independence Day.
‘Chanakya’ is an action spy thriller being directed by Thiru and Gopichand will sport a new look with beard in this film.
Having completed the talkie part, the dubbing works of the film have commenced. In the coming days, the songs will be shot in abroad.

First Glimpse: Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapuramulo
Allu Arjun’s 19th film, which will be directed by Trivikram srinivas, has been titled Ala Vaikunthapuramulo, its makers announced today.
Pooja Hegde is playing the leading lady in the film, which marks her second-time collaboration with Allu Arjun after Duvvada Jagannadham.
Nivetha Pethuraj, Tabu, Navdeep, Sushanth are also part of the film. Actors Jayaram, Sathyaraj, Sunil, Rajendra Prasad, Rahul Ramakrishna, Brahmaji, Harsha Vardhan, Murali Sharma, Vennela Kishore and Brahmanandam are the other stars who are part of the cast.
Famous music director SS Thaman is composing the music for the film. Sources say that the movie is a light-hearted commercial fest that will be a celebration of Allu Arjun the star.
Rolled out by Geetha Arts in association with Haarika & Hassine Creations, AA19 is scheduled for a Sankranthi 2020 release.
Pulihora Talk: Rajamouli Suggests To Trim Saaho
If any big release is coming and if star director Rajamouli fails to respond over it, there are some sort of rumours that mushroom around it always. Currently, as the leading filmmaker didn’t utter a word about “Saaho” till date on social media, there are various rumours doing rounds regarding this.
At a time when Prabhas’ fans are feeling jittery as Rajamouli didn’t even spare a tweet for Saaho, this particular rumour is surely bringing laughs. Some folks are right now claiming that the Baahubali director has advised the director of Saaho to trim down the second half of the movie. They say that basing on Rajamouli’s advise, Sujeeth has trimmed 18 minutes in the second half of the movie.
This is outrightly funny because Rajamouli hasn’t even tweeted a word about Saaho trailer till date, but how come he asks the makers to chop few sequences. Also, there is no clue that the First Copy of the film with fully loaded VFX and sound effects, and background score is ready yet.
That’s why they say, Rajamouli advising to trim Saaho is nothing but a pulihora talk.
Fading Regina’s ‘Gumpulo Govindam’ Comment
If someone is sharing that routine opinion which 9 out of 10 people do, then we fondly call them as ‘gumpulo govindam’ opinions. Here comes Regina Cassandra giving a similar feel with her latest comments on Telugu films and how she is picking them.
When quizzed about not doing so many Telugu films these days, Regina stated that she has become quite choosy. “From the last couple of years, I’ve become very choosy when it comes to picking roles. I’m doing only the ones that give me satisfaction as an actor and also roles that got importance in the story”, the dusky siren said.
This is a very routine comment coming from a talented actress like Regina as she hasn’t done any roles that really stood tall in the recent past. All of her films, whether it is in Tamil or Telugu have her going extra glamorous these days, but they have bitten the dust. So where is the point that she has turned choosy?
Maybe, Regina didn’t expect that question coming hence she gave only a routine answer for it.
Nani Delayed Young Hero’s Film?
Vishwaksen is the young hero in Tollywood film industry who made his debut with the movie Vellipomakey. But, he was shot to fame with Tharun Bhascker’s Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi. The actor later went on to do a movie Falaknuma Das, which also marked his debut as a director. Vishwaksen has given his best in the movie and it did fare well at the box-office.
Natural Star Nani attended the pre-release event of Falaknuma Das and announced that he will be producing Vishwaksen’s next project. The entire film fraternity is surprised to see Nani producing a film with a young hero after the much-talked project AWE!
Cut to the present, Vishwaksen’s new project is confirmed in the production of Bekkem Venu Gopal who earlier produced a lot of movies including Husharu. This is raising a lot of doubts on Nani’s movie with Vishwak. Apparently, the incidents that followed the release of Falaknuma Das might have pushed Nani to delay his project with Vishwak.
Vishwak showed over-enthusiasm during the post-release promotions of the movie Falaknuma Das and made objectionable comments on audiences which he later defended. The actor gained a lot of negative image, especially on social media. Hence, this might have made Nani feel that it is not the right time to experiment with Vishwak.
This new movie in the combination of Vishwak and Venu Gopal will introduce a new director. The regular shoot of the film will begin next month.
Will Nikhil Bounce Back With That Sequel?
Actor Nikhil bounced back in his career by scoring hits continuous hits like Swamy Rara, Karthikeya and Surya Vs Surya. But from the last couple of years, he has lost his form and his films started to fail at the box office. This has also affected his market value in the industry. His last film was Kirrak Party which was released one and half year ago.
His upcoming film Arjun Suravaram is struggling to get released from the last six months. Nikhil wanted to work on the sequel of Karthikeya for a long time. But director Chandoo Mondeti was busy with some other projects at one point of time. After wrapping up Arjun Suravaram, the duo wanted to announce the project but Nikhil backed out for some reason. Even though the producer was ready, he waited for the script to get finished.
The situation would’ve been different if Arjun Suravaram had released on time. But after the film’s fiasco, Nikhil is going for the producers only after hearing out the full bounded script. Finally, yesterday he hinted that his next project would be with Chandoo Mondeti but didn’t confirm that it is Karthikeya 2. Any which ways, the duo is getting back together and we have to wait and see if Nikhil gets back to the success track even after losing market in the last couple of years.
