Share

Actress Rashmika Mandanna said ‘Dear Comrade’ is the journey of Bobby played by Vijay Deverakonda and Lilly played by her.

Speaking about the film, Rashmika said, “I generally don’t read the complete scripts of my films. When director Bharat Kamma sent me the script, I gave it a try and for nearly two hours I read it. I got so hooked to it as it was such engaging and there is a sense of curiosity what happens next.”

When asked about her role, Rashmika replied that she underwent training for four months.

“I had bruises all over my hands, legs. My shoulder got dislocated but its worth the pain. Now I know how to defend my wicket.”

The Kannada beauty added that it took a toll on her while performing an emotional scene.

“After the particular scene, director Bharat tweeted that I did well. That day I cried a lot and that is what it takes to get appreciation from your director. I’m always a director’s baby,” said Rashmika.

Adding she said she doesn’t consider herself lucky to be pairing with big heroes as she worked very hard all these days and it is paying off with right projects.

Rashmika dubbed for her role in Kannada and Telugu and she is excited that ‘Dear Comrade’ is releasing in all four languages simultaneously.

‘Dear Comrade’ is releasing on July 26th.

Buzz: Rakul To Romance Sidhu In Bharateeyudu 2!

Star heroine Rakul Preet might have left Tollywood for a while, but actually, she scored a big hit in Hindi this time through De De Pyaar De. While the film talks about a 25-year-old girl falling in love with 50 years old, many started trolling Rakul that she’s doing that again.

With news out that Rakul Preet is part of Shankar’s Bharateeyudu 2 which has Kajal Agarwal in the lead, they stated that Rakul joined the film as the second heroine. That will be making her romance a 64 years old hero. However, it doesn’t seem to be the casting Shankar has done.

While the Bharateeyudu’s first part has Kamal Haasan playing a dual role, this time Kamal will be seen in senior Indian getup, while a young corrupt guy role is being played by Siddharth, who was introduced as a hero by Shankar through Boys movie. And Rakul Preet is likely to romance Siddharth in this film.

Currently, Rakul has two movies in hand in Telugu including Nagarjuna’s Manmadhudu 2 and Nithin-Yeleti movie.

Forgotten Actress Makes Re-Entry With Sarileru

Share

Director Anil Ravipudi is roping in the talented and forgotten actors in Sarileru Neekevvaru starring Mahesh Babu in the lead role.

After Vijayashanti, it is Sangeetha who is making a re-entry in Telugu cinema with Sarileru Neekevvaru.

Sangeetha who was known for her performances in films like Khadgam, Pellam Oorelthe and Pithamagan has been out of Telugu cinema over a decade.

She has done a few films in Tamil as a character actress after marriage, but she didn’t do any Telugu films post wedding.

Anil Ravipudi roped in Sangeetha for an important role that accompanies Rashmika Mandanna in Sarileru Neekevvaru. There is a shortage of female character actors in Telugu cinema now.

Directors are repeating same actors again and again due to the shortage and Sangeetha could become busy in Telugu after Sarileru Neekevvaru.

#RRR: This Hollywood Heroine In Talks For Jr NTR

Share

From months, fans are eagerly waiting to find out who will be that heroine to romance Jr NTR’s character in the film #RRR being carved by legendary director Rajamouli. There are names of various Bollywood beauties heard in this connection, but the ace director is sticking to his concept and searching only for a foreign actress to play this role. And it looks like they found one.

After the exit of British actress Daisy Edgar Jones, the team of #RRR has considered many actresses to play this particular role in the patriotic drama where the fictional characters of Alluri Seetha Ramaraju and Komaram Bheem are going to be explored from a different perspective. Names like Parineeti Chopra and Shraddha Kapoor are heard, as they said that Rajamouli has altered the script as he couldn’t find a proper white-actress to play this role. Even Nithya Menen’s name also did rounds.

The latest update is that Hollywood actress Emma Roberts is said to be in consideration for the role. While she’s consulted already and some formal discussions happened, actually Rajamouli is said to be looking forward to the screen test. Recently the director went to the USA and stated that he’s on some personal work, but the main reason for his visit is said to be finding the right actress to play this English girl role in #RRR.

Currently, the #RRR team remained tight-lipped about this selection and we have to wait for the official update anyway.

Congress facing existential crisis in Telangana

Share

Hyderabad: The Telangana Assembly has nearly become ‘Congress-mukt’ with the defection of 12 of its legislators to ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), even as one more Congress MLA has announced plans to switch loyalty to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The national party is facing existential crisis in the state, where it had hoped to revive its fortunes by claiming credit for the state’s creation.

With its strength in 119-member Assembly already reduced to six, the grand old party has also lost the status of main opposition party.

With the crushing defeat in Assembly elections in December last year, Congress had failed in its second consecutive attempt to come to power in India’s youngest state, which it had carved out of Andhra Pradesh in 2014.

The Congress, which contested 2018 elections in alliance with Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Communist Party of India (CPI) and Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), could win just 19 seats as TRS retained power, winning 88 seats.

Within six months after the debacle, the Congress lost the status of main opposition in both the Houses of State Legislature.

TRS, which had lured 25 MLAs of opposition parties in its earlier term, lost no time in resuming its efforts to woo Congress legislators. The defections started in March, dealing a huge blow to Congress morale on the eve of Lok Sabha elections.

Lacking a charismatic leader and reeling under internal squabbles, Congress was in total disarray. However, Congress and BJP, by winning three and four Lok Sabha seats respectively, shattered the dreams of TRS for a clean sweep in Lok Sabha polls.

Out of 17 seats, TRS could win nine while its ally All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) retained its lone seat.

At a time when Congress with its good showing in Lok Sabha and Legislative Council polls was hoping for a revival, it was dealt a huge blow by 12 MLAs who met Speaker P. Srinivas Reddy on June 6 and urged him to merge them with the TRS. Hours later, the Speaker recognized their merger as they constitute two-third of total members of Congress Legislature Party (CLP).

Under Anti-Defection Act, the defectors required two-third majority to seek merger with any party.

The development came a day after state Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy resigned from Assembly as he was elected to Lok Sabha from Nalgonda in the recent elections.

Congress was up in arms, terming the merger as a murder of democracy. Its leaders and cadres took to streets to condemn TRS for what they called luring their MLAs with power and money.

They alleged that the speaker sat on their pleas for disqualification of MLAs who had earlier announced that they will join TRS but took prompt action after their numbers swelled to 12 and they met him to request the merger.

CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, state Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and others moved High Court, challenging the Speaker’s decision. The court issued notices to the defectors and the Speaker and the matter is still pending in the court.

TRS, however, claimed that Congress legislators acted on their own to join TRS as they were impressed with the government’s welfare and development schemes.

“We have comfortable majority and we don’t need support of anybody. When Congress can’t keep its own flock together what can we do,” asked Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao asked in State Assembly last week.

He defended the merger of defected MLAs with TRS saying it was done as per the 10th Scheduled of the Constitution of India.

The Congress also lost the post of leader of opposition in Assembly. A party needs one-tenth of the strength of a House to have the status of main opposition.

Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, a Dalit leader, lost the status of Leader of Opposition. As if this was not enough Congress received another shock with its senior leader and MLA K. Rajagopal Reddy announcing that he will join BJP. Slamming the state Congress leadership for their failures, he said there are no hopes of party’s revival in the state. “Only BJP can provide an alternative to TRS and I will join that party,” declared Rajgopal Reddy.

His exit will bring the Congress tally to five. AIMIM, an ally of TRS, became second largest party with seven MLAs. BJP and TDP have a legislator each.

In December last year, a few days after the Assembly elections, Congress had lost the status of main opposition party in the State Legislative Council when four of its six members defected to TRS.

Legislative Council Chairman Swamy Goud promptly recognized them as members of the ruling party.

Three MLCs from TRS who defected to Congress on the eve of Assembly elections were also disqualified by Council Chairman.

Political analysts say as the party is yet to set its house in order at the national level following resignation of Rahul Gandhi as party chief in the wake of debacle in Lok Sabha polls, there are no chances of the party making any serious attempt in near future to regain the lost ground in the state.

Jagan came to power, thanks to BJP votes?

Share

YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had managed to come to power in Andhra Pradesh in the recent assembly elections only because of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

This was the opinion expressed by BJP national secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Sunil Deodhar at a party meeting held at Tenali in Guntur district on Monday.

He said in 2014 assembly elections, the BJP had an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party and helped it win the elections. A vast percentage of BJP votes got transferred to the TDP.

“But TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu had betrayed the BJP and changed colours like a chameleon. He made a lot of false propaganda against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the elections. As a result, the pro-BJP vote turned in favour of YSR Congress party,” Deodhar said.

According to the BJP leader, more than 20 percent of votes of Bharatiya Janata Party got transferred to the YSRC in the recent elections.

The YSRC got more than 49 percent vote share in the assembly elections. Going by Deodhar, the YSRC got 20 per cent BJP votes; which means, it would have got only 29 percent votes, if the BJP votes had not been transferred to it.

It would mean, but for the BJP, Jagan came to power; otherwise, the TDP would have retained power again!

Any takers for this argument?

Centre unhappy with Jagan on PPAs?

Share

The NDA government at the Centre seems to be extremely unhappy with the decision of the YSR Congress party government headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to review the power purchase agreements signed by the previous Telugu Desam Party government on solar and wind power producers.

It was evident from the way central power producers National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) stayed away from the meeting called by cabinet sub-committee constituted by Jagan to review the power purchase agreements.

The sub-committee comprising finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy and other ministers P Anil Kumar Yadav, Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and Mekapati Gautam Reddy, besides principal advisor to chief minister Ajeya Kallam held a meeting in Amaravati on Monday to review the PPAs.

Apparently, the Centre was not happy with the way Jagan ignored the letter written by Union minister for power and non-conventional energy R K Singh, besides energy secretary Anand Kumar.

The Union minister expressed the view that any revision of PPAs would result in stoppage of flow of investments into the state in the energy sector and that the power purchase costs were highly competitive.

However, Jagan decided to go ahead with the review of PPAs and called for all the stakeholders for negotiations.

He even announced that if the solar and wind power producers to do not reduce the rates, he would cancel the agreements and call for fresh tenders.

It remains to be seen what Jagan would do now, since the Central power agencies have decided to boycott the PPA review meetings.

#BiggBoss3: Contestants Brought Back Last Year Memories

Share

All the contestants of #BiggBoss3 are finally inside the house and the mega reality show has just started with a bang. While Nagarjuna is really super impressive as a host, surely the contestants are also pretty good. And then, they have made audiences nostalgic too.

The very first contestant to enter the show, Siva Jyothy aka V6 Savitri reminded many of last year’s TV9 Deepthi. Her love for husband and for her profession, are simply superb. And then Dubsmash starlet Ashu Reddy spoke about depression after a breakup, which reminded Nandini Rai. TV9 Jaffer brought back memories of Babu Gogineni, while singer Rahul Sipliganj sounded like a memory version of Geetha Madhuri. Struggling heroine Punarnavi reminds us of Tejaswi Madivada and Archana Sastry.

But the exception is Srimukhi who happens to be a star anchor already and still made it to the show, while no other happening stars did earlier. Then came hero Varun Sandesh, though in flops, still, he’s that heartthrob hero!

Dropping World Bank loan not a central decision?

Share

The World Bank last week announced dropping its proposal to extend US $300 million loan to Andhra Pradesh for the infrastructure projects in Amaravati, the new capital city of the state.

The bank authorities had clarified that they had dropped the project following a letter from the Centre seeking to withdraw the loan proposal.

The YSRC leaders and state government officials have been attributing the cancellation of loan by the World Bank to Amaravati to the massive corruption indulged in by the previous TDP government.

They are saying that the Centre had withdrawn the loan request following the condition put forth by the World Bank that it would send an inspection panel to conduct an inquiry into the allegations levelled against the TDP government with regard to Amaravati project. It had nothing to do with the Jagan government.

However, the TDP leaders say the Centre could not take any unilateral decision to withdraw loan request without the involvement of the state government.

Senior TDP leader and former finance minister Yanamala Rama Krishnudu said the Centre can’t stop the World Bank funds to Amaravati.

It was done at the behest of the YSRC, as the letter was written by the Centre only last Tuesday.

He alleged that with the support of YSRC, some people had complained to the World Bank on the Amaravati project.

“On this, the World Bank has urged the center that they would inspect the project works. But the centre had raised objections as the State did not want the World Bank to conduct inspections,” he said.

“If Jagan Mohan Reddy had the commitment over Amaravati, then he would have convinced the center,” Yanamala argued.
