Share

Right after winning the elections, YSRCP government had ordered for change of Anna Canteen’s label. The latest update is, the government has stopped paying salaries for the canteen workers.

In Guntur, Anna canteen workers staged a protest demanding the government to pay salaries which are unpaid for the last four months. There are nearly 20,000 workers in the district and they are really worried about the future now. There is also a rumour that the government is soon planning to shut down all the canteen in the district.

In the protest one of the canteen worker appealed to the government said it should clarify its stand on running Anna canteens. “Even when we are sick, we worked very hard day and night for the canteen. For the four months, we did not get salaries and we have no other option rather than to protest. Hope the government promptly reacts and addresses our issue at the earliest,” said a worker.

An individual who runs the canteen said we are hearing from government sources that canteen may stop functioning from August 1st but an official announcement is awaited. This canteen feeds the poor and needy but they will have to struggle now.

iSmart Day 1 : Massy Red Carpet Recovered Half Budget

Puri Jagan hasn’t satisfied the critics with the poor story and not-so-exciting screenplay, but the dialogues and expletives laced with Telangana slang along with the glamour department have unfurled a red carpet for his “Ismart Shankar” from the masses. And here are some numbers to support the case.

Despite getting poor reviews and lashed by critics for making same old typical masala films, director Puri and his hero Ram Pothineni has stunned everyone one. Surprising even the critics and trade pundits, surpassing all the expectations, the film has made 16 crores worldwide gross thus carving 7.8 crores share for the producer. And that recovered almost 50% of the film’s budget on the first day itself.

And this Friday, the film got much hotter as almost all the single screens are full while multiplexes have posted good occupancy numbers. And the weekend might help the flick not only to recover whole of its money but post profits as well. At the same time, A centres might not witness a major growth, but B & C crowds are enjoying it.

It looks like the producers of Saaho have finally listened to the millions of fans who are asking them to just announce the ‘new’ release date. In the wake of other films announcing their dates on August 15th, it is simply confirmed that Prabhas’ starrer is out of the race.

Here goes the confirmation from the makers of the film, however, saying that the film is getting ready to hit the marquee on August 30th. “No compromise on the content and quality! The action begins in cinemas from 30th Aug. #Saaho releasing worldwide on 30.08.2019” says a statement of UV Creations, after lots of rumours around the release date.

UV Creations ahs mentioned in another statement that the 15 days of delay in arrival is regarding the quality of the film. Like we said earlier, the final rendering of some visual effects is taking a couple of days more time, and hence this postponement of two weeks. They say that the film has turned out pretty well.

On the other hand, we have other film releases scheduled on that date, so we have to see what happens to them.

World Bank halts financial aid to Amaravathi

Amaravati: In a major blow to Andhra Pradesh government, the World Bank has pulled out of a key project for development of new state capital Amaravati for which it had committed $300 million.

The World Bank website Thursday showed the status of Amaravati Sustainable Infrastructure and Institutional Development Project as ‘dropped’.

However, Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), which is the implementing agency for the project, said it had not received any official communication from the World Bank about dropping the project.

The total project cost was $715 million and the state government in 2016 had sought the entire funding from the World Bank. However, it committed $300 million.

The World Bank is reported to have taken the decision following complaint by farmers and people’s organizations. They said that development of Amaravati will affect their livelihood and impact the environment.

The development came one-and-half month after YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) came to power in the state.

Amaravati is the brainchild of N. Chandrababu Naidu, who suffered crushing defeat in the recent elections.

After forming first government in residuary state of Andhra Pradesh following bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh in 2014, Naidu had announced developing Amaravati near Vijayawada as the new state capital. The Singapore government had prepared the master plan for the same.

Under Naidu’s ambitious plans the capital city is to come up in areas of 217 sq km. Under the first phase from 2015 to 2025, the state capital was to be built at a cost of nearly Rs 50,000 crore while the subsequent two phases were estimated to cost over Rs 1 lakh crore.

Naidu’s government had claimed that farmers voluntarily came forward to give 33,000 acres under an innovative land pooling system to develop the state capital. He had also succeeded in launching the works to the tune of Rs.35,000 crore over last two years.

After taking over as the new chief minister in May, Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had alleged that there was a big land scam in Amaravati to benefit then chief minister and those close to him. He had declared that the government will get the irregularities in land acquisition and awarding works for various projects thoroughly probed.

KCR Doing Real Estate Business?

Share

Bharatiya Janata Party has found fault with Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s decision to allot prime lands in every district headquarters to his party for the construction of party offices.

Speaking to media persons on Thursday, BJP official spokesman K Krishna Sagar Rao alleged that the TRS had become a real estate agency in the state and the chief minister a real estate dealer.

“How can KCR give way prime lands to the TRS for construction of party offices in districts? The TRS is trying to increase assets by doing real estate business,” he said.

Demanding that the government should release white paper on the lands allocated to the party, Rao said the BJP would take up agitation against such illegal allotments of prime and expensive lands in the heart of the city.

The BJP spokesman further alleged that the chief minister was afraid of BJP after the Lok Sabha elections.

“We condemn the comments of KCR against Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the latter had won the elections in the country by kicking up emotions. It clearly shows KCR is feeling insecurity. His comments are insult to the people who have elected Narendra Modi,” Rao said.

KCR Belittles Modi’s Victory!

Share

Prime Minister Narendra Modi single-handedly steering BJP to a grand victory in recent Lok Sabha polls has been acknowledged and appreciated world-over.

Modi created a record of being the only non-Congress PM in Independent India, who secured clear majority for his party on his own to form the government at the Centre.

Moreover, he could successfully overcome the anti-incumbency by winning more seats in 2019 than in 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

Due to Modi’s charisma, BJP’s tally increased from 282 in 2014 to 303 in 2019, while the magic figure to form the government is 272.

However, for TRS chief and Telangana CM KCR, Modi’s achievement means nothing.

KCR said Modi’s victory cannot be treated as even ‘victory’ as he won by igniting ‘patriotism’ among Indians and not by doing any good work in his first term as PM from 2014 to 2019.

KCR made these comments at a meeting held at Telangana Bhavan.

When few senior TRS leaders took the issue of BJP expanding its base faster in Telangana after recent Lok Sabha polls,, KCR fired at them saying that there is nothing great about Modi and we should take him lightly.

“Modi created an impression among people during elections that India will not survive if BJP loses. He ignited a sentiment of nationalism and patriotism among people. People voted for Modi not for his good work as PM in his first term but out of fear created by Modi that India will be ruled by Muslim countries, if BJP loses,” KCR remarked.

After the meeting, few TRS leaders commented that KCR is still unable to digest the defeat of his daughter Kavitha in Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat in the hands of BJP and for this reason he is losing his temper whenever anyone raises the topic of Modi or BJP.

Real estate shifted from Amaravathi to Hyderabad

Share

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said that ever since YSR Congress Party came to power in the state, the system in state capital Amaravati has collapsed and real estate market has crashed.

He said the real estate industry has shifted from Amaravathi to Hyderabad after YS Jagan became CM.

The leader of opposition said the real estate market, which witnessed a boom during his tenure, took a severe beating and plunged like share market after YSRCP came to power.

He claimed that the state capital has lands worth Rs 2 lakh crore.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief, who was talking to reporters in Assembly premises, said even labourers were not getting work in Amaravati due to wrong policies of the new government.

Naidu said after the new government came to power, the number of incoming and outgoing flights at Gannavaram Airport (Vijayawada) has come down.

He said many flights including flights to Singapore were stopped. He claimed that people were again forced to go to Hyderabad to catch flights for various destinations.

Naidu said the house in which he was living on rent at Undavalli in Amaravati was not on the river bed.

Last month, the government had issued demolition notice to the owner of the house saying it was built in violation of various rules.

Earlier, the government had demolished ‘Praja Vedika’ a meeting hall built by previous government adjacent to Naidu’s house.

Slamming Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Naidu said he can’t rule the state by ‘settling the matters’ in the way he had been doing in his constituency Pulivendula.

The TDP chief remarked that threats and committing excesses work in Pulivendula but not in Amaravati and other areas.

Naidu alleged that Jagan Reddy was behaving in a similar fashion in Assembly.

On Jagan Reddy’s decision to review all Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) signed during TDP rule with producers of solar and wind power, Naidu said this would deal a blow to the state and affect flow of investment.

Naidu said he did his best to reduce solar power tariff but the YSRCP government was making baseless allegations.

Allu Arjun’s Tiff with Co-director, Shoot Stalled?

#AA19, a film in the combination of Allu Arjun and director Trivikram Srinivas, is facing one problem or the other on the sets.

The film’s shoot has been temporarily stalled after hero Allu Arjun had a tiff with his co-director.

The said co-director is senior-most in the movie industry and had worked with some big names like M S Reddy and Rajamouli.

According to sources, Allu Arjun had an altercation with the co-director on the sets.

Behind The Scene: All in the game

“Why does Narendra Modi deserve to win? What development has he brought to the nation? He merely cashed in by playing the card of ‘nationalistic pride’ and stoking it repeatedly,” said KCR.

Taking strong exception to this, yesteryear actress Vijayashanti who is now part of the BJP put up a post on Facebook.

“You have no moral right to question Modi. Did you not play the regional sentiment card in 2014 and come to power? You used the same instrument again in 2019 to stay in office. Is it not?” questioned Vijayashanti.

Ironically, in those days, Vijayashanti was a part of TRS and she attracted attention with her vitriolic statements such as, “Andhra vallani addanga narikeyyandi.”

Therefore, when she says that KCR used the sentiment for personal gain, she is also guilty of the same offense. Therefore, these politicos, accusing one another is, a classic case of the ‘pot calling the kettle black’.

In one sense though, Vijayashanti can consider herself to be lucky that Tollywood is such a big-hearted industry which has young directors with plenty of ambition and zero self-respect who are still keen on casting her in their films despite all the poison she vomited against the Andhras.

At the end of the day, does talent take precedence over character or are there directors, actors and producers in Tollywood who respect their Andhra identity to the point where they would not want to compromise it for material gain?

Naidu’s Loss Cast Shadow On Heritage?

Share

The humiliating defeat faced by the Telugu Desam Party in the just concluded assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh seems to have cast its shadow on the performance of Heritage Foods, the family enterprise of TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

According to market reports, the stock prices of Heritage Foods have fallen by 25 per cent since May 23.

On Monday, the company registered a steep fall of more than five per cent, which was a 30-month low, to Rs 390, despite the fact that the market was buoyant with regard to other scrips.

Reports said the stocks of Heritage Foods had come down by 19 per cent in the past seven trading days.

Compared to last year (June 2018), when its market price was Rs 720, the stock has almost fallen by 50 per cent.

The Heritage Foods, presently being run by Naidu’s daughter-in-law Nara Brahmani, has been engaged in dairy business that includes procurement of milk from dairy farmers at village level, and distribution of processed milk to the households in 15 states.

While electoral debacle of the TDP could be one of the reasons for the fall in share value of Heritage, market reports attribute it to a slump in milk supply for the year, which led to lower milk sales prices as the unorganized dairy firms entered the urban market to sell excess milk, thereby increasing undercutting and competition.

Brahmani, in fact, was planning to register a revenue growth run-rate of 15-20 per cent over the next five years by territorial expansion in milk-rich regions and areas where consumption of milk is high, penetrate deeper in existing regions, and increase the value-added products portfolio. But the growth was in tune with the expectations.
