Now, Roja to host KCR?

Share

TRS supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao appears to be extending the ‘bonhomie’ between TRS and YSRCP to the next level leaders of YSRCP.

KCR as of now has been moving closely with AP CM and YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Jagan’s two close aides YSRCP Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai Reddy and YSRCP Lok Sabha member PV Mithun Reddy.

Now, KCR wants to take his friendship with YSRCP more forwar by extending his friendly hand to next rung of leaders in YSRCP.

KCR, all of a sudden, has decided to visit the residence of YSRCP MLA and actress Roja in Nagari in Chittoor district today. That too, not once, but twice in a single day.

KCR took a sudden decision to visit Kancheepuram today to meet seer and seek his blessings. He took a special flight from Begumpet airport.

KCR decided to fly from Begumpet airport to Tirupathi first, take a break to visit Roja’s house in Nagari, have breakfast at her residence and then leave for Kancheepuram.

While returning back, KCR has decided to visit Roja’s house again, have dinner and leave for Hyderabad.

KCR visiting Roja’s house twice on a single day has raised many a eyebrows.

This is because Roja is neither contemporary of KCR in politics, is not asenior politician or an actress of a stature whom a CM should meet.

However, everyone is left clueless why KCR is giving so much importance to Roja.

World’s largest water pump house begins operation in T’gana

Share

Hyderabad: Lakshmipur pump house, a key component of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) and claimed to be the world’s largest pump house, has successfully commenced operations in Telangana, it was announced on Monday.

Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) unveiled Laximpur Underground Pumping Station (LUPS), also called as the Package 8 of the mega project across the Godavari river.

The wet run began Sunday night with switching on of the fifth machine in LUPS in Karimnagar district. With this, around 3,000 cusecs of water was lifted to a height of 111 meters and flown into Mid-Manair reservoir through the gravity canal.

The gush of water from the underground impressed the onlookers.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is expected to formally inaugurate this colossal pump house on Wednesday.

The 52-minute wet run discharged 89.73 cumecs of water into the gravity canal. The volume of water pumped was 98,85,303 cubic feet, about 28 crore liters.

LUPS would enable live storage of water in reservoirs throughout the year in the Godavari river belt.

MEIL described the pump house as outstanding engineering marvel as it is the world’s largest underground pumping station constructed at 470 feet below the earth’s surface.

“This is an extraordinary underground pump house, 470 feet below the ground with twin tunnels and the largest surge pools in the world. This is an ultra-mega project in the world, having 7 motors, each having a capacity of 139 megawatts,” said B. Srinivas Reddy, Director, MEIL.

These motors can lift three TMC (Thousand Million Cubic) water per day. The gigantic motors were developed indigenously with the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technology.

The most significant feature of KLIP is that it completed the construction of the electrical infrastructure with 3057 MWs capacity that comprises six 400KV and 220KV substations, transformers and 260 kilometres of transmission lines, 7 kilometres of 400 KV XLPE underground cable.

“Going around the pump house will remind one of visiting a huge underground shopping mall with multiple floors. Generally, pump houses for lift irrigation projects are built at ground level near river banks to pump water to a higher elevation. However, this unique super structure, the first of its kind in the world, is built at a location below the ground with a pumping capacity of 2 TMCs of water per day,” the company said.

Billed as the world’s largest multi-stage lift irrigation project, Kaleshwaram was formally inaugurated in June.

When fully operational, the Rs 80,000 crore project will lift two thousand million cubic (TMC) feet of water per day to a height of half-a-kilometre.

It is designed to irrigate 45 lakh acres for two crops in a year, meet drinking water requirement of 70 per cent of the state and also cater to the needs of industry.

Sarileru Neekevvaru Wraps Up Train Episode

Share

Director Anil Ravipudi has utmost clarity over what he is doing. Working with a superstar and the sky high expectations hasn’t intimidated him a bit. Like always he is finishing off the filming in a flash.

He has wrapped up a lengthy train episode in the special set erected at Annapurna Studios. It is a thirty five minute episode with lots of humor.

The filming of first half is almost complete except for the high voltage action block that comes at the interval point.

After finishing some patch works, the unit will shift to Kurnool set erected in Ramoji Film City. Major portion of the second half will be filmed in this set.

Anil Ravipudi is planning to wrap the filming part by November so that the team will have ample time for promotions.

There would be stiff competition at the Sankranthi box office, which calls for innovative and aggressive promotions. Mahesh will spend entire December on promoting Sarileru Neekevvaru.

Anil Ravipudi’s impressive track record has made this one of the most anticipated movies in the trade.

From 25 To 45, Sharwa Makes It!

Share

May be for the first time in Telugu cinema, a young hero is seen playing two roles of the same character with varied age.

Sharwanand in his next action outing Ranarangam will be playing two characters, one of 25 years youngster and next is 45 years old.

What’s more interesting is, screenplay from Sudheer Varma narrates both the stories in parallel.

So, it’s a tough task for any artist to maintain the compatibility between two threads for which the young hero had lot of ground work.

Commonality between hero Sharwanand and director Sudheer Varma is that both of them play the game intensely. So, Ranarangam is obviously anticipatee as an intense film from the combo.

While Kalyani Priyadarshan is playing the young Sharwanand from 1990s love interest, Kajal Agarwal will be seen as glamour babe for the powerful second Sharwa role.

Meanwhile, makers have unveiled a sound cut trailer yesterday received to good response.

BJP toeing TDP line in Andhra?

Share

It looks like the Bharatiya Janata Party has given up its strong anti-Telugu Desam Party stand in Andhra Pradesh, ever since senior TDP leaders and Rajya Sabha MPs Y S Chowdary, T G Venkatesh and C M Ramesh joined the saffron party.

The party appears to be going soft towards the TDP and instead, focussing on targeting the two-and-a-half months old YSR Congress party government headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

It was evident from the aggressive posture taken up by the party at its state executive meeting held in Vijayawada on Sunday. AP BJP in-charge Sunil Deodhar, president Kanna Lakshminarayana, MPs G V L Narasimha Rao, Y Sujana Chowdary, C M Ramesh, senior leaders K Hari Babu, G Manikyala Rao, S Veerraju and several leaders attended the meeting.

The party has decided to stage a massive dharna at Gurazala in Guntur district on August 16 against the alleged “anti-people policies of the YSRC government.”Kanna Lakshminarayana allegd that Jagan Mohan Reddy government had been taking several wrong decisions and running a poor administration in the state.

”Decisions like proposed closure of fair price shops, closure of Anna Canteens and retrenching several existing government employees did not go down well with people,” he said.He further said the mal-administration at the grassroots level had proved that the state was pursuing a direction-less rule. The drought of Rayalaseema has also has not been addressed.

“We wanted to give six months’ time to Jagan Mohan Reddy government before criticising them for his follies but we have decided that we cannot wait. The two-month rule has proved that Andhra Pradesh is going backwards,” he said.

He said the harassment of opposition political workers and leaders increased in villages soon after YSRCP assumed power. He said the sand scarcity has severely hit the real estate sector and several building workers were on the roads for want to work.”Workers have become debt-ridden owing to a halt in construction activity in the state because of the scarcity of sand,” he said.

He said the state BJP would stage protests against the anti-people policies of the YSRCP government across the state besides conducting a campaign to explain the significance of abrogation of Article 370 to people at grassroots level.

Jagan okays Challa, Iqbal, Mopidevi for council

Share

As promised soon after coming to power in the last assembly elections, YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday finalised the candidature of former IPS officer Mohammad Iqbal for the ensuing elections to the legislative council.

Along with Iqbal, Jagan also finalised the names of minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana from Guntur and former minister from Kurnool Challa Ramakrishna Reddy for the MLC elections to be held under the MLAs’ quota shortly.

Mopidevi, a staunch loyalist of Jagan’s father and former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, lost the recent assembly elections from Repalle constituency in the hands of Telugu Desam Party’s Anagani Satya Prasad by a margin of over 11,000 votes.

Yet, Jagan took him into the cabinet, promising him to make him MLC within six months. Now with the Election Commission announcing the schedule for council elections, Jagan gave him the party nomination.

Similarly, Mohammad Iqbal, who worked as chief security office for Naidu in the past and later held several positions including as SP in the state intelligence, lost the recent elections from Hindupur assembly elections in the hands of senior actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, brother-in-law of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.

But Jagan assured that he would be made an MLC and inducted into the state cabinet after two and a half years, when he reshuffles the cabinet.

So is the case with Challa Ramakrishna Reddy, a former Congress leader and ex-minister, from Kurnool district.

He joined the YSR Congress party before the elections. Though he did not get the party ticket, he strived for the victory of the party in the elections in Kurnool and is now getting the reward for his hard work.

US BO: Manmadhudu 2 Flops Miserably

Share

Nagarjuna is one senior star who commands great openings and good collections at the USA box-office. He has that pulling power in overseas markets. His films like “Manam” and “Oopiri” have grossed more than $1 million. Even “Soggade Chinni Nayana”, which is not typical class film, grossed nearly $840k.

However, “Manmadhudu 2” has failed to take decent openings. The film is a huge flop from day one.Despite Nagarjuna promoting it aggressively and proclaiming that it is a family movie, audiences didn’t show interest to watch it.

The ratings from critics have further spoiled the chances and the word-of-mouth was also completely negative.#Manmadhudu2: Premieres: $82,400 Fri: $47,600 Sat: $61,900 Sun: $25k (apprx) Total Weekend Gross: $215k (apprx)

Directed by Rahul Ravindran, “Manmadhudu 2” is a routine romantic comedy full of double-meaning dialogues and content that is not suitable for family viewing.

Opinion: Chandrababu is absolutely right

Share

Speaking in Krishna district recently, Chandrababu Naidu made a very relevant comment: “The people have shunned a milch cow (Chandrababu) and opted for a bison (Jagan Mohan Reddy),” said Naidu bitterly.

What he said is absolutely correct. Chandrababu was a milch cow not for the people of Andhra Pradesh but his community. The K-casteism reached an all-time high during his tenure and people became so disgusted with the community that they destroyed their Party in the polls.

And what Chandrababu said about Jagan is also right. Jagan after becoming the Chief Minister is not acting like a cow to his community but rather like a bison to them, he is governing in such a fashion making it virtually impossible for them to take advantage of their government being in power.

That Chandrababu made these remarks in the Kamma-dominated Krishna district should not escape unnoticed. These people made a tremendous development when they came up with an exclusive anthem for their community.

What next? An exclusive flag and language? Maybe, an exclusive ‘language’ wouldn’t be so bad as it would give the Telugus relief from having to identify themselves with these people anymore.

Never Wanted To Be VP, Not Suitable To Be PM: Naidu

Share

CHENNAI: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said he never wanted to take up the post, but take up “constructive work” following the footsteps of Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader and social activist, Nanaji Deshmukh.

Mr Naidu said he was in tears the day he was named for the Vice President’s post for the simple reason that he would not be able to visit the BJP office or talk to the party workers.

Despite coming from a humble background, Mr Naidu said the party had given him everything, except Prime Ministership, for which he was “not suitable”.

“My dear friends I must tell you the truth…I never wanted to become VP…,” he said at the launch of a book on his two-year term in office titled “Listening, Learning & Leading.”

Mr Naidu said he expressed his interest to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that in his second term (after 2019) he wanted to quit the government, follow Nanaji Deshmukh and go for constructive work (Rachanathmak Karyakram).

“I was planning on that ground….I was enjoying that I will be doing that… But this did not happen,” Mr Naidu said.

Stating that he even suggested some names for the VP post, he said “After a party parliamentary board meeting, Amit (Shah) bhai said everyone in the party thought I will be the most suitable man. I never expected that. I was in tears, not because I was losing the ministership, which I anyway was going to leave.”

He said he was overcome by emotion then for a simple reason — that from the next day, he would not be able to go to the BJP office or meet party workers.

Mr Naidu said he was worried about the future of the movement (ABVP, RSS), which left him in tears.

“I joined the movement at a young age and the party gave me everything, except Prime Ministership, for which I am not suitable. I know my capacities and calibre,” he said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was also present at the event, said he had a “sweet complaint” that Mr Naidu is extra strict with Treasury benches and every minister is afraid of him.
