Mojo TV on the verge of closure?

Share

Mojo TV, which created a sensation in the Telugu electronic media circles for over a year with its mobile journalism, is now said to be on the verge of closure.

The channel, which had the backing of popular Telugu television news channel TV9 during the regime of its former chief executive officer V Ravi Prakash, went into the hands of TV9’s new management Alanda Media and Entertainment Pvt Ltd, promoted by My Home Group promoted by Jupalli Rameshwara Rao and Megha Engineering group headed by Krishna Reddy.

According to the reports, the employees of Mojo TV were informed that the channel is being wound up shortly, causing a lot of concern in them. They were offered one month salary and are being asked to quit their jobs.

“This will throw the families of more than 160 employees on the roads. The channel head has been sold out to the My Home group. As per the agreement, the management has to give three months’ salary before winding up the channel, but there is none to fight on behalf of employees,” a journalist associated with the development said.

According to sources, the situation in TV9 is also very bad, as the channel is facing financial crunch for the first time. The employees of Mojo TV are getting ready for a dharna shortly, sources said.

Jagan’s Liquor Ban Only To Help Telangana?

Share

The decision of YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to phase out liquor consumption in the state may be a noble idea, but it is most likely to face practical problems.

Analysts say the decision to implement prohibition in a phased manner in the next four years will not only bring down huge revenue to the state exchequer, but also increase the expenditure on the government in enforcing prohibition.

“You may make the liquor not available for the people but you cannot stop people from consuming liquor. They will smuggle liquor from neighbouring Telangana state or go to the border areas to consume liquor. It will only increase its excise revenue of the Telangana and deprive AP of its revenue,” an analyst said.

According to the latest bill passed in the assembly, liquor sale will be done hereafter by the AP Beverages Corporation through its outlets and not allow its sale through belt shops.

If the government itself opens wine shops, it has to appoint more employees and their salaries would be a big burden on the government.

Moreover, the government selling liquor will bring a bad name to Jagan and women might not appreciate the same.

Thirdly, if the liquor outlets are closed after evening hours, it will give scope to mushrooming of unauthorised shops that might result in black-marketing of liquor. And the government has to deploy more forces to prevent the same.

No Funds Crunch For Salaries In AP

Share

The YSR Congress party government in Andhra Pradesh had to face an embarrassing situation with thousands of employees not getting their salaries on Thursday, supposedly due to technical snags.Normally, state government employees get their salaries on the first day of every month. On Thursday, the first day of August, many employees could not get their salaries even after the closure of office hours at 5 pm.

This has led to the speculations that the Jagan Mohan Reddy government is facing severe financial crunch and that the salaries might get delayed further this month.Within no time, this rumour spread like a wild fire among the employees and into the social media.

Some television channels picked up the rumours being spread in social media and splashed the news, causing huge embarrassment to the Jagan government. On Friday afternoon, finance minister Buggana Rajendranath himself had to clarify that the delay had nothing to do with the funds availability.

He said there had been a technical issue relating to the encryption of files with e-Kuber platform of the Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai. He said on Thursday, after the payment of pensions and large part of the salaries, technical difficulties were experienced leading to stoppage of uploading of the files.

“The staff of the finance department have continuously worked throughout the night to resolve the issue coordinating with the technical staff of RBI, Mumbai,” he said.Buggana said the issue had been fully resolved by the technical team and all pensions and salaries are credited to the respective bank account by 10.00 am on Friday.

“I would like to reiterate that this delay has nothing to do with the funds position. The little technical glitch is fully resolved in consultation with RBI and measures to ensure that the fix is permanent and will not repeat in future have been taken,” he clarified.

According to a report by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s assets increased by over 22 percent in the financial year 2017-18, compared to 2016-17. On the other hand, Congress is miles behind, with a total worth of Rs 724.35 crores, including a 15.26% decline in its resources compared to last year.

The ADR pointed out that all the national parties have failed to follow the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) guidelines that prescribe the parties to announce the details of the financial agencies, banks or institutions from whom they took loans.

Saaho Love Anthem: Chemistry, Glamour & Amazing Visuals

Share

Already the teaser of Saaho’s Ye Chota Nuvvunna song has won appreciation for its magical demeanour. And now, the full length video song is out, giving a kick to the film lovers. So, how is this new song of Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor, which is fondly called as ‘Love Anthem’, is looking?

Simply said, the song has all the ingredients well mixed including that Prabhas and Shraddha’s stylish look mixed with beautiful chemistry, amazing visuals that captured the beauty of snowcapped Austrian mountains and that sizzling hot looks of the star heroine in some specially made outfits. All these make the song a treat to watch in theatres on August 30th.

While the Telugu lyrics of the song are sounding like as if the song belongs to a dubbed version, Hindi version is too perfect. Especially the visuals are giving a feel that we are watching a Bollywood song but not the usual Telugu songs with mass beats, dances and jhakkas.

The song composed by Guru Randhwa is slowly catching up and before the film releases, it might become a big hit too.

Charan’s Late Night Dinner With Kiara! What’s Up?

Share

Usually, Telugu heroines don’t appear like their Bollywood counterparts when it comes to socialising with colleagues. That too married Telugu heroes, are not seen partying with other actors and heroines. But it looks like Tollywood is breaking that mould now.

Other day afternoon, Ram Charan is seen landing in Mumbai in his new twirled handlebar moustache. Many thought that he’s actually heading to Pune from there, to join the shooting of #RRR latest schedule. But surprisingly, he appeared in posh Bandra area in the evening, walking into a cafe with his Vinaya Vidheya Rama heroine Kiara Advani.

On his Instagram page, the actor wrote, “Wish you a very happy birthday Kiara Advani May you continue eating brownies without feeling guilty!!”, sharing a picture. And then, Bollywood paparazzi got pictures of Charan-Kiara spilled all over as the good friends walked hand in hand post the birthday dinner.

Reports have that Charan went to Mumbai on professional work, but met Kiara as she became his good friend after working together on Vinaya Vidheya Rama. That movie might have flopped, but a friendship bloomed.

Bonda Uma to do a bungee jump in politics

Share

Right after the election results, ex-MLA Bonda Uma is said to be unhappy with the TDP leadership and then reports came that he will soon quit the cycle party and join the Lotus. In the last few days, the debate of Uma’s political future intensified like anything.

However, the former Vijayawada central MLA maintained tight-lipped despite the rumours have waves all over the state. Seems like, Uma too is vexed up with the rumours and answered them in a diplomatic way. Currently, Uma is on a holiday and shared a couple of pictures of his vacation. The ex-MLA tried some adventure and did bungee jumping.

What needs to be noticed here is the caption to the images. “While Bezawada is busy debating at my next political move, I took a leap of faith into an awesome Bungee Jump experience!!! Cheers!,” wrote Bonda Uma. Well, this is a very twisted statement but clear enough that Uma is all set to leave TDP.

As per the political circles, Uma is looking at BJP and it appears that the Lotus party’s ‘Operation Akarsh’ is meeting the target.

‘Don’t compare Bigg Boss show with ANR Family’

Share

Noted filmmaker Tammareddy Bharadwaj found fault with Nagarjuna’s statements in the Bigg Boss show. In the opening episode of the show, Nag recalled his family gatherings when his father and legendary Akkineni Nageswara Rao was alive.

“When father was alive, our family comprising of 30 members used to meet every Sunday. He gave a lot of importance to family and bondings. He values family more than anything and that’s why we have stayed connected even now,” said Nagarjuna and then referred to the Bigg Boss inmates. “We are 30 members and Bigg Boss has 15 members. Let’s see how they will stay together,” added Nag.

Tammareddy is not convinced with Nag’s this statement. “ANR is an icon of Indian cinema and comparing Akkineni family with a commercial reality show like Bigg Boss is not appropriate. ANR’s family gathering is to keep the members connected all the time whereas Bigg Boss is all about money and winning,” said Tammareddy.

He added that Nagarjuna should have given a second thought before saying so. “I wonder who is the script writer and I hope Nag would be watchful next time before reading out the script,” concluded Tammareddy.

#BigBoss3: Is Tamanna An Example Of Society?

Share

Bigg Boss 3 has surely stunned the audience by promoting gender equality by making transgender Tamanna Simhadri enter the house. But then, such contestants should actually live up to ethics and promote positivity. Otherwise, they will face criticism like a Babu Gogineni and get eliminated.

Sample this: Other day Tamanna She blasted Ali Reza like nothing else, calling him that he will never become a hero in Tollywood. “Eating tablets for white skin and spending time in the gym for a six-pack body doesn’t qualify you to become a hero,” she said on his face.

And when she was given a chance to express her unexpressed feelings, she spoke about the hardships she faced in life, how she went through the scrutiny belts of society before standing up to something in life including winning a transgender beauty pageant and contesting in the election.

And the hypocrisy part is when Tamanna faced so many hardships in life and so proud about her achievements, why can’t she understand that even Ali Reza might have faced similar hardships to become big in life.

As Tamanna happens to be a transgender, many inmates are not raising voice against her strongly, but she is making use of this vacuum to flaunt her tantrums big time.

Rakshasudu Movie Review

Share

Ratsasan was hailed as one of the best Tamil movies in recent times. It’s a taut thriller with engaging screenplay and excellently executed by director Ram Kumar. Telugu remake of Ratsasan is almost a frame to frame copy of the original. Rakshasudu has its share of flaws, but it engages nevertheless.

What is it about?

Arun (Bellamkonda Srinivas) is a wannabe director, who lands a police job. He uses his research done on serial killers to solve a serial murder mystery happening in the city. A psycho is on the loose who is brutally killing innocent schoolgirls. All that he leaves is the head of a smashed doll as the clue. Arun puts piece by piece together to solve the case.

Performances:

Bellamkonda Srinivas finally gives up on masala elements and action. He takes up a content driven script where he has to play a subdued cop unlike his previous larger than life characters. It is arguably the best character of his career so far and Srinivas has shown signs of an actor who is slowly evolving. He did well in emotional scenes, but still needs to work on his acting skills. Anupama has a very little role to play and she did okay within her limitations. The little girl who played Anupama’s niece is cute. Rajiv Kanakala got a meaty role and he has made the most of it. Saravanan as the villain is good.

Technicalities:

Director Ramesh Varma didn’t try to alter at least a frame in Ratsasan. Remakes can’t get faithful than this. Despite making a frame to frame remake of Ratsasan, the director could only deliver an average film as far as technicalities are concerned. He didn’t have that special eye for technical aspects and therefore Rakshasudu pales in comparison to the original.

Ghibran’s score is repeated from the original and it is top class. Probably the best in recent times. Cinematography is decent and the editing could have been better. Production values are average.

Thumbs Up:

Screenplay

Nail biting sequences

Background score

Thumbs Down:

Stretched climax

Excessive Runtime

Analysis:

Ratsasan has solid content that can stand on its own even with subpar filmmaking. The original was executed superbly and all that the remake director had to do is to copy paste it scene by scene. Ramesh Varma didn’t try to make the slightest of the changes to the original movie, which might not please the viewers that had seen the Tamil version of it. Rakshasudu is inferior to Ratsasan in all departments except the background score which is reused here.

Despite being an inferior product to the original, Rakshasudu will still engage its viewers because of its engaging screenplay and well paced narrative. It never goes off track and doesn’t play down on the violence portrayed on screen. It is not a film for faint-hearted. The crime scenes are not shown in detail, but we get the effect of it. Even the subplots like a perverse schoolteacher are shown in a shockingly disturbing yet effective manner.

The thrill factor is always alive and there are some intelligent twists and turns that keeps the audiences on the edge of their seats. However, there is a downside to it. The motive of the villain is shown before the climax and it wasn’t so effective. Also the film runs for too long after the villain is revealed. These are the minus points in the original film and the makers of Rakshasudu didn’t have the courage to alter the highly successful and acclaimed original film.

All in all, Rakshasudu would be an engaging watch for those who haven’t seen the original. It will thrill the genre lovers with its taut and engaging screenplay. But it will seem like a poor copy for those who had watched it in Tamil. All said and done, Rakshasudu is a far more better project from Bellamkonda compared to his recent outings. Would this be enough to fetch him that long-awaited success has to be seen.

Verdict: Carbon Copy!

Big Rumour: Sye Raa Shifting To Sankranthi?

Share

Already the Sankranthi fight got intensified with Allu Arjun fixing his film’s release and Mahesh Babu putting up his Sarileru Nakevvaru on the same time. And it looks like, these two films are going to face the major axe if Megastar Chiru takes the final call.

Due to the pending visual effects works, we hear that Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa is not able to come on said October 2nd date. And then, there are no big holidays or long holiday seasons in the next couple of months for this magnum opus to take on the box office. Reports are coming that Ram Charan is mulling over a Sankranthi 2019 release in case if the film misses out October release.

And with Sye Raa being made with such vast budgets, even distributors are said to be happy in case if the film gets postponed to January 2020. Because that will give them a holiday season boost to make the most of the investment as the film’s pre-release business is touching some all time record figures.

Meanwhile, if Sye Raa moves to this new date, we have to see who will occupy October 2nd and who will opt-out from Sankranthi eve.
