Naidu, Lokesh enact emotional dramas with ‘rented tears’!

Share

After TDP received a severe drubbing in the hands of YSRCP in recent Assembly polls, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh are trying to enact ’emotional dramas’ with ‘rented tears’ and trying to create sympathy for themselves among people.

Both father and son are sitting in their offices from morning to evening.

TDP leaders and cadre are asked to visit them with scores of people and raise Jai Chandranna, Jai Lokesh, Jai TDP slogans.

TDP leaders and cadre should ensure that women should be part of visiting teams.

These women should shed tears saying that Naidu worked hard day and night for the development of AP for the past five years, stood like elder brother to women by giving Rs 10,000 cash for Pasupu Kumkuma scheme and they could not understand why people did not vote for TDP.

On the other hand, local leaders from Mangalagiri are bringing batches of women to visit Lokesh.

Women are made to weep saying that they could not digest Lokesh and TDP’s defeat in recent polls despite doing good for all sections.

After this ’emotional drama’, both Naidu and Lokesh, console women asking them not to weep and tell them that TDP will come back to power after five years and they should not lose their heart.

Naidu and Lokesh tell them that the doors of their homes will always remain open for people and anyone with any problems can approach them for help.

The ‘yellow media’ is covering all this emotional drama every day prominently.

It remains to be seen how far Naidu, Lokesh and yellow media sustain this emotional drama with rented tears, while more than half of the population in AP is sailing with YSRCP.

This journo ‘donated’ 40 acres for Amaravati!

Share

Soon after winning the assembly elections with huge majority, YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy declared that the construction of new capital city Amaravati by the previous Chandrababu Naidu government smacked of a huge scam and he would get the scam investigated into very shortly.

Within no time, officials started digging into the land scam in Amaravati, particularly in the so-called “revolutionary” land pooling scheme.

While digging into the files, they discovered an interesting case of land scam, allegedly indulged in by a journalist working for a popular television channel.

Under the land pooling scheme, thousands of farmers gave away their lands for the capital construction, in lieu of which each farmer was allotted residential and commercial plots in the capital region, besides cash payment of Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 per acre on annuity basis towards compensation of crop loss.

Records show that this particular journalist had given away 40 acres of land and got the plots, residential and commercial, worth crores of rupees registered in his name, besides annuity payments.

In the normal circumstances, this is quite a remarkable sacrifice by a journalist and being a publicity-crazy person, Naidu would have definitely gained a lot of publicity for this. But, everything was done in a hush-hush manner.

Now, the officials have discovered that this donation of 40 acres was a big scam.

The journalist actually had just two acres of land and he conveniently occupied 38 acres of assigned land adjacent to it with the “cooperation” of local officials and politicians.

He got the land transferred in his name and that of his relatives silently and finally “donated” the entire land to the capital. Even a former minister allegedly had a hand in the entire scam.

Apparently, this journalist maintains a very high profile and used to care a damn for even top officials, forget the fellow journalists.

“He doesn’t even reciprocate the wishes of other journalists and considers himself to be too big a man because of his political connections. Now, he will get definitely get exposed very soon,” a source in the YSRC said.

AP to go dry as Jagan set to keep word on prohibition

Share

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh is set to go dry in phases as Chief Minister-designate Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy appears determined to implement prohibition, one of his major election promises.

As the young leader is scheduled to take oath as Chief Minister on May 30, all eyes will be on the first file he will sign.

The YSR Congress Party chief has remained non-committal on the first orders he will give but said implementing ‘Navaratnalu’ (nine gems) will be his priority. Prohibition was one of the nine welfare schemes promised by his party during the campaign.

Storming to power with a landslide victory, YSRCP is now facing a challenge in banning alcohol, given the failed experiment in undivided Andhra Pradesh and the strain the move may impose on the state’s already fragile economy.

Financial assistance to farmers, students’ fee reimbursement, health insurance, construction of irrigation projects, increase in social security pension and prohibition were among Jagan’s ‘Navaratnalu’.

While implementation of eight schemes requires mobilization of additional resources to the tune of Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 crore, prohibition requires the government to give up a source of revenue.

For 2019-20, the state had set a target of Rs 7,358 crore excise duty, which is levied on sale of alcohol. The revenue from excise duty was Rs 5,789 crore in the previous year.

Jagan, as the young leader is popularly known, revealed two days ago that the state was running on overdraft. Debt servicing, including interest payment, alone is costing Rs 40,000 crore to the exchequer annually.

It was during his record-breaking 3,600-km long ‘padyatra’ that Jagan had promised prohibition. When women in some villages explained to him the problems they face from alcohol-addicted husbands, he said if voted to power YSRCP would impose prohibition.

He also remarked that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was considering liquor merely a source of income while it actually amounted to doing business with the ‘blood and flesh’ of the people.

The YSRCP chief also observed that alcohol consumption was one of the main reasons for the deteriorating financial and health conditions of lakhs of families.

“The income derived from spoiling lives of lakhs of families wouldn’t augur well for anyone, let alone for a government,” he had said.

Showing that he is a leader who stands by his word, Jagan told his maiden press conference that he will not seek votes in 2024 if he failed to limit the sale of liquor to five-star hotels.

He asked Jana Chaitanya Vedika (JCV) State President V. Lakshmana Reddy to prepare a report for the implementation of prohibition and submit it to the government. The NGO wants the government to take over the retail business to cut down the supply.

Jagan plans to implement prohibition in phases.

Under the first phase, he proposes to increase awareness about the harmful effects of alcohol and reduce the number of liquor shops.

In the second phase, taxes on liquor will be increased to discourage the poor and middle class from buying it.

Under the third and final phase, alcohol will be available only in five-star hotels and those found brewing or selling liquor will be jailed.

Jagan is not the first Telugu leader to promise prohibition.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder N.T. Rama Rao implemented total prohibition immediately after taking oath as the Chief Minister in 1994.

NTR had made the election promise after a massive women’s movement against liquor. However, the move led to bootlegging and smuggling of liquor from neighbouring states.

NTR’s son-in-law N. Chandrababu Naidu, who took over the reins of power after leading a revolt against him in 1995, lifted the prohibition later on the ground that it failed to achieve its objective.

After that no other Chief Minister, including Jagan’s father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, touched this subject.

KCR trying to bask in Jagan’s glory!

Share

Ever since YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy recorded a landslide victory in the just concluded Andhra Pradesh assembly elections and Lok Sabha elections, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to be feeling insecure.

There is a reason for this insecurity feeling. Before the declaration of election results, KCR had been under the impression that the TRS would definitely get 16 MP seats in Telangana and YSR Congress would also get 15-16 MP seats in Andhra Pradesh.

Like KCR, Jagan does not have much interest in playing a national politics. So, the TRS chief thought he would play a big brother role in the Telugu states and emerge a kingmaker in deciding the formation of government at the Centre by forming a federal front with all regional parties, if the BJP-led NDA or Congress-led coalition would not be able to form the government at the Centre.

However, all his hopes are now dashed completely with the BJP returning to power with a massive mandate at the Centre and Jagan recording unprecedented victory in both the assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

On the other hand, the TRS graph went down steeply as it could win just nine out of 17 seats with great difficulty.

Now, forget about playing the role of a big brother, KCR cannot even match up to Jagan in terms of popularity and image.

Having realised this, the TRS chief is trying to bask in the glory of Jagan and get out of impending troubles from the Centre.

Though the BJP does not require the support of Jagan, the latter definitely needs the Centre’s support in securing more funds to the state.

Besides, Jagan also needs the help of the Centre in coming out clean from the pending CBI cases against him. So, under any circumstances, the YSRC chief will not enter into confrontation with the BJP at the Centre.

At the same time, KCR cannot be so friendly with the BJP, having attacked Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and others strongly during the elections.

Secondly, the BJP is planning to grow independently in Telangana and therefore, will not cooperate with the KCR government, besides creating troubles in various ways.

So, the TRS chief is trying to be friendly with Jagan and through him, he wants to restore friendly relations with Modi again.

The unprecedented reception he had given to Jagan at his residence, the way he accepted Jagan’s request for transfer of certain officials to AP and the decision to attend Jagan’s swearing-in ceremony, besides choosing to travel to Delhi along with Jagan in the same special flight – all indicate how KCR wants to cash in on the popularity of Jagan!

Exclusive: Mega Plans For Jagan’s Biopic Yatra 2

Share

The historic win of YS Jagan is one of the much talked about topics across the nation after the sweeping success of YSRCP in the recent polls.

There cannot be a better time to make a film on this historic journey to success. Jagan has defied all the odds and left his opponents in dire straits with a thumping win.

His foot march named Praja Sankalpa Yatra played pivotal roles in YSRCP’s resounding victory.

Mahi V Raghav who made Yatra based on YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s Pada Yatra is now planning to make a sequel to it on a bigger scale. Suriya is being considered for the role of YS Jagan.

Yatra was made as a low budget film in an offbeat style. But Yatra 2 has enough elements to become a political pot-boiler.

The film will start from where Yatra ended i.e. YSR’s death. It will show the fall and rise of the leader YS Jagan.

Expect the unexpected from Modi in Camelot 2.0

Share

New Delhi: With a gargantuan majority at his disposal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a huge gene pool to choose from and reward as he goes about appointing members to his new Camelot. However, with PM Modi, no one can second-guess him.

At the same time, speculation is rife in Delhi’s political circles on the composition of the new Cabinet.

For starters, one will have to look at the Big Four – members of the all important Cabinet Committee on Security. In the erstwhile Cabinet there were two women.

Apparently, former Rajasthan Chief MInister Vasundhara Raje may be sounded out for the External Affairs Ministry while giant killer Smriti Irani, who toppled Congress President Rahul Gandhi from his pocket borough of Amethi, may get the plum post of Raksha Mantri.

Many aspirations and ambitions have to be fulfilled while hard work and perseverance will need to be rewarded.

The PM may also be looking at certain technocrats to push his JAM policy where the tri-junction of Jan, Aadhar and Mobile meet. This has paid handsome dividends at the bottom of the pyramid and in more ways than one given a sense of liberation and purpose to rural women.

As such, one shouldn’t be surprised if there is a Make in India, Skill Development and other such nomenclatures in the new Cabinet.

Grapevine also indicates that NSA Ajit Doval may be one of the contenders for the Defence Minister’s job. He could even be sent to Washington as India’s ambassador to the US.

Adding a twist to the permutations and combinations, if BJP President Amit Shah is inducted into the Cabinet, he may get one of the most crucial portfolios out of three – Home, Defence or even Finance.

In whatever role the PM assigns him, he will be pushing the rollout agenda of the PM’s pet schemes aggressively. In the eventuality that he joins the Cabinet, given the nature of Indian polity where the country lurches from one election to another and the whirligig is more often than not year round; Dharmendra Pradhan or Bhupendra Yadav may get the nod for the party top job.

Health minister J.P. Nadda is another name doing the rounds. National General Secretary and a Rajya Sabha MP from Himachal Pradesh, Nadda is known as a master strategist in his party. The party had given him charge of Uttar Pradesh in the recently concluded hustings. The party bagged 62 out of 80 Lok Sabha seats.

Meanwhile, Pradhan cut his teeth in the Bihar Lok Sabha elections 2014 and once again, this time in his home state Odisha. BJP’s vote share in the Lok Sabha polls in Odisha rose from about 21.9 per cent in 2014 to 38.37 per cent while the ruling BJD’s fell from 44.1 per cent in 2014 to 42.76 per cent.

BJP’s vote share in the Odisha Assembly polls also rose significantly from 18.2 per cent in 2014 to 32.5 per cent in 2019. An RSS member since his student days and a close confidant of both Modi and Shah, Pradhan is expected to play a bigger role in BJP.

Bhupendra Yadav is a Rajya Sabha member, but equally a powerful national general secretary. Fiercely private, like his mentor Amit Shah, Yadav keeps to the confines of the war room, a role that he relishes. Yadav had been the BJP election in-charge for Rajasthan in 2013, Jharkhand in 2014 and Bihar in 2015. While Bihar did not go the way the BJP would have liked, Yadav delivered results for his boss, Shah, in both Rajasthan and Jharkhand.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh may be retained in his present job, but if party President Amit Shah, who has played a monumental role in the BJP returning to power working ceaselessly and tirelessly to put the strategic tent poles in place, joins the Cabinet, the former party president may become the new Speaker of the Lok Sabha.

Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, who served as the interim finance minister when Arun Jaitley was undergoing treatment, may step into his shoes.

However, other names are also doing the rounds for this post. Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad may be moved to a more prominent ministry after his win in Patna Sahib. He was a minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government and became a cabinet minister under Modi.

Nitin Gadkari had a number of ministries under him and is credited with most tangible work being done in those departments. He may continue with the work assigned to him.

Agriculture will be one of the focus areas and, there is a thinking that a technocrat like Ashok Gulati should be given the job to ameliorate the woes of agrarian India which appears to be in distress mode.

Telecom will have a new minister since Manoj Sinha is one of the prominent losers in the BJP. If Pradhan moves to head the party, then the energy portfolio comprising petroleum and natural gas will also see a new face. Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi may get a cabinet rank this time. He is the most prominent Muslim face in the Modi team.

Prakash Javdekar will also be given an important position — he served as HRD Minister in the old Council of Ministers.

With nearly 80 members in the previous Cabinet, lots of faces and names to fill the posts abound. Expect the infusion of new blood and representation to states where the BJP has done exceedingly well — Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, Jharkhand, Odisha, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and equal weight to the allies.

‘Stop Trolling Chandrababu Further’ – Naga Babu

Share

Artist-cum-politician Naga Babu, who contested from Narsapuram Parliament segment as Jana Sena candidate, runs his Youtube channel and offers his views as ‘Naa Ishtam’. Recently, the Mega brother congratulated AP Chief Minister elect YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and said that Jana Sena will come back to work on public issues very soon.

Freshly, he posted an interesting tweet advising the netizens to go soft on former AP CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Mega brother, who once criticized Balakrishna, Naidu and TDP, wanted the social media folks to leave Naidu who is now a disarmed man without no power. He added that further criticism on Chandrababu may seem like sadism.

Naga Babu tweeted: ‘Chandrababu is our ex-CM and now that he lost the election, it is incorrect to launch an attack on him. Criticising a person who’s in power is different and hitting at him when not in power shows our incapability. I think an opponent must be exempted if he’s disarmed. But, it’s a sadistic approach to troll him when he is not is power.’

While the unexpected suggestion from Naga Babu has surprised both Jana Sena and TDP fans, followers of YSRCP are taking a swipe at Naga Babu for taking potshots at Jagan when he was in opposition.

Trisha spilled the beans about her love life

Share

Trisha, who started her acting career with Jodi(1999) as a supporting artist, later went on to become a top heroine with her debut film in 2002, as a lead actress. Ever since then, her craze kept multiplying. She is one of those rare actresses who could beat all the odds to stay on top of the game for nearly two decades.

Yesterday, Trisha had an online interaction session with her fans on Instagram. She answered a few questions asked by netizens like her beauty secrets and her upcoming projects. One fan asked about the relationship status of the actress to which she replied – ‘single but taken’. Another question on marriage made her reply – “Do it when it’s a want and not a need.”

Earlier, the actress got engaged to Chennai-based businessman Varun Manian and for some unknown reasons, the couple separated their paths. Trisha was also dating Tollywood star Rana Daggubati but they later parted ways after things didn’t work out between them.

As her personal life has always grabbed interest just like her professional life, looks like the actress is ready to keep her love life open to her fans. There’s so much drama in elections: Rakul

Share

Rakul’s upcoming flick, NGK is a political thriller. With Suriya in the lead role, this film is being directed by Selvaraghavan and will hit the theatres on May 31. During the film’s promotions, the actress has opened up about her views on the state of politics in the country right now.

While her interaction with media, Rakul said, “I have an idea what’s happening around. But, I feel very sad because there’s so much drama. It’s become like a TV serial with TRP ratings and so many people are fighting for it.” She also asked the new government to stop a divide and rule campaigning. Also, she believes that every state should get what it deserves and grow.

One journalist asked her if she would become a politician in future, she said, “A lot of my friends say that I put things into perspective and am very clear about things, but I don’t think I can be in politics. I am very straightforward and not cut out for the drama. I want to bring about a change, which I want to do individually.”

KRR Doing A ‘Lust Stories’

Share

Not technically he is coming up with his version of Bollywood film “Lust Stories”, but the veteran director K Raghavendra Rao has announced just something of sorts.

On the eve of legendary NTR’s birth anniversary today, Darsakendrudu announced that he will be starting work on his next direction venture. So what is the film anyway? apparently, KRR mentioned that the film will have three directors and three heroines, but ‘hero’ is not yet confirmed.

That means, KRR is making an anthology film in the lines of ‘Lust Stories’, where four directors including Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar directed four different stories for the same film. Maybe K Raghavendra Rao is joining hands with some of his struggling disciples to make a similar feat, says a source.

Well, if the experiment clicks, KRR will be back in business for sure, after he directed Om Namo Venkatesaya in 2017, while his last hit film seems to be 2006 released Sri Ramadasu.
