Telangana, Andhra CMs hold talks on inter-state issue

Share

Hyderabad: The Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Friday began talks on a wide-range of inter-state issues arising out of Andhra Pradesh’s bifurcation five years ago.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy held the talks at Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of the former.

Though Chandrashekhar Rao and Jagan Reddy met several times since the latter formed the government in Andhra Pradesh a month ago, this is the first full-fledged talks between them to sort out inter-state issues.

Both the leaders have already agreed to solve all the outstanding issues amicably and foster good neighbourly relations for the welfare of the people of both the states.

Sharing of water from Krishna and Godavari rivers is expected to be the main item on the agenda of the high-level talks. They are likely to discuss the dispute over sharing of Krishna water and the possibility of diverting the Godavari waters to Krishna basin.

The issues arising out of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh have remained unresolved for last five years due to differences between Chandrashekhar Rao and his then counterpart N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Dispute over dues of power utilities, distribution of employees and assets of electricity department will also feature in the talks.

Officials said the two leaders might also discuss distribution of assets of institutions listed in Scheduled IX and X of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014. The issue of distribution of Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi is also likely to come up.

Former IT minister Nara Lokesh, who is also the son of TDP chief, former AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu is all set to be booked in Franklin Templetion and Fintech valley scams.

Nara Lokesh is facing charges of resorting to huge irregularties in allotment of land to Frankling Templetion in Vizag besides siphoning off public funds in the name of setting up Fintech Valley in Vizag, while he was IT minister in his father Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet till last month.

AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy has already constituted a cabinet sub committee to probe the irregularities and scams of previous TDP government.

Following CM’s directions, officials started probing the land allotments made to various IT companies by Lokesh in his capacity as IT minister and son of CM.

Officials are learnt to have gathered solid proofs on how Lokesh flouted all the norms and allotted excess land to Franklin Templeton ignoring the report given by then Chief Secretary. Lokesh is facing allegations of bringing pressure on officials to allot 40 acres to Franklin Templeton while the CS recommended just about 20 acres. Lokesh is alleged to have made crores of rupees from this excess land allotment and caused loss to state exchequer.

Similary, Lokesh is facing charges of siphoning public funds in the name of setting up Fintech Valley and promoting start-ups.

Though, no major progress was made at Fintech Valley, Lokesh is alleged to have pocketed huge public money in the name of promoting Fintech Valley and start-ups.

After all proofs are established against Lokesh, AP CM Jagan will direct officials to book cases against Lokesh.

If proved, Lokesh has to face the jail for causing loss to state exchequer, misuse of his official position for his personal benefits.

Naidu to operate from Guntur!

Share

Now that the Praja Vedika, the spacious conference hall adjacent to his residence has been demolished by the authorities of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), Telugu Desam Party president and opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu has decided to go all the way to Guntur from Monday to attend to the party works.

Hitherto, Naidu had been using Praja Vedika to meet the party leaders, cadre and also common people coming from different parts of the state.

In a week from now, Naidu will not be having even his residence, as the authorities issued eviction notices on him. So, the chance of asking the party leaders to come to his residence also is not there right now.

Since there is no party office anywhere near, Naidu decided that he should go to Guntur, where the state headquarters has been constructed. The party leaders are now engaged in finding suitable office space and house for Naidu.

Since the Guntur office is well equipped with all the necessary infrastructure for party related issues, Naidu selected it for official purpose.

He will be available five days in a week for all party leaders, cadre, followers and visitors, sources said.

The party leaders are making necessary arrangements at Chandrababu Naidu chamber in the office.

Even TDP general secretary and Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh also will be available here regularly.

In fact, Lokesh had been visiting this office regularly for the last two years and interacting with all the leaders and cadre from this same building.

On the other hand, the newly constricting party office at Mangalagiri is in almost finishing stage. As soon as it will be completed, the party activities will be shifted to there.

Father gives permission, son demolishes!

Share

As expected, the demolition drive taken up by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) on the alleged illegal constructions on the banks of Krishna river, including that of former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Vundavalli in Amaravati is meeting with stiff resistance.

Several owners of these buildings have restricted the authorities from entering their premises to serve notices stating that they all had got permission from various authorities including the then Vijaywada Urban Development Authority and local gram panchayat.

The residents are putting up boards stating that theirs was not illegal constructions. As a result, the CRDA authorities are now compelled to bring all the old records to find out whether the permissions were given by the previous authorities were as per rules or not.

Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said the demolition notice was nothing but an act of vengeance and witch-hunt by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government.

“The permission for Lingamaneni Ramesh guest house was given way back in 2008 when Jagan’s father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy was in power. The layout was approved by the local gram panchayat, as there was no CRDA then. Naidu had taken it on temporary lease for his residence, since he had to run the administration from Amaravati,” he said.

He sought to know why the YSR government had given permissions for the buildings if they were illegal constructions.

“Why didn’t he take action against them then itself?” he asked.

KCR speaks about Telugu states, not Telangana!

Share

Till the other day, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao used to speak only about Telangana.

He never tolerated the word Andhra Pradesh; so much so that he even questioned why newspapers in Hyderabad should publish news about the neighbouring state.

He opposed Polavaram project and a petitioned filed by his government is still pending in the Supreme Court.

Though he tried to pamper Andhra settlers in Telangana for the sake of votes, he had utter contempt for Andhra.

He raised a hue and cry when water from Nagarjunasagar was released into the right canal and from Srisailam into Pothireddypadu project.

Several times, he complained to the Krishna water tribunal against excess usage of water. He even demanded installation of water meters at the project sites to measure the “pilferage” of water by Andhra.

Such a hard core anti-Andhra leader has now given up his strong Telangana sentiment and started talking about “welfare of Telugu states.”

At an official meeting with his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy held at Pragati Bhavan on Friday, KCR surprised everybody saying that he had never looked at both the states as different and his aim was to work for the betterment of the people in both the Telugu states.

Till the other day, KCR was talking about Telangana’s share in Krishna and Godavari waters.

His government filed a petition in the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal seeking rightful allocation of Krishna and Godavari river waters and the issue is still pending in the Supreme Court.

But on Friday, the Telangana chief minister surprisingly talked about availability of “combined share” of the river waters in both the states and said there was an availability of 4,000 tmc of water in both the rivers available for Telangana and AP and both of them have to utilise them properly.

One wonders how KCR can take such a U-turn. The water share of Telangana and Andhra in both the rivers is very clear as per the tribunal award and since Andhra is the last riparian state, it has got the facility to use surplus water.

But now, KCR is claiming right over these waters, too, saying both the Telugu states are same.

At the meeting, KCR put forth several proposals on linkage of Godavari and Krishna rivers. He even went to the extent of diverting water from Nagavali and Vamsadhara to the Krishna basin, as if he is ruling the Andhra Pradesh as well.

The sooner Jagan realises the scheming of KCR, the better!

TRS ahead of others in membership drive!

Share

At a time when the Congress party is yet to recover from the shock of large scale desertion of MLAs and infighting and the Telugu Desam Party is virtually on the verge of extinction, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi has once again taken the lead in strengthening the party at the grassroots level.

Apparently realising an impending danger from the Bharatiya Janata Party, TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has conducted an extended executive committee meeting of the party and gave a direction to the party leaders to speed up the membership drive to make the party strong at all levels.

On Friday, KCR’s son and TRS working president K T Rama Rao kicked off a special membership drive for NRIs.

He renewed the membership of TRS NRI coordinator Mahesh Bigala, who said the drive subsequently will be taken up in 40 countries by respective TRS NRI branches.

He said the TRS was the only political party to have these many branches and NRI TRS always played an important role in election campaigns and proud to say the only party to have many social media warriors.

KTR said the new members will take welfare and developmental programmes of the government to the public’s doorstep by different mediums and encourage the new members to join the party.

Kalki Review: Uneven Investigation

Share

“Garuda Vega” has changed the perception towards Rajasekhar’s movies. His teaming up with ‘Awe’ director Prasanth Varma has generated good buzz and both them have hiked the expectations with the stunning teasers and trailers.

Has the film lived up to the promise? Let’s find out.

Story:
Sometime in 1980’s in Kollapur region in Telangana, a ruthless political leader Narsappa (Ashutoshu Rana) has rivalry with Perumandlu. One day Narsappa’s brother Sekhar Babu (Jonnalagadda) gets killed.

A police officer Kalki (Rajasekhar) who is specialist in encounters is sent by Government to investigate the case. A journalist Devadutta (Rahul Ramakrishna) tries to help Kalki.

How Kalki solves the murder case and who killed Sekhar Babu and for what reason?

Artistes’ Performances:
Rajasekhar who is known for playing angry cop roles has played the role of an investigative police officer. His body language and his performance is okay but his over makeup is bad.

After Rajasekhar it is Rahul Ramakrishna who has got a lengthy role and he is good in his part, who does both comedy and serious act.

Siddhu Jonnalagadda as Sekhar Babu is impressive. So is Nandita Swetha as Asima Khan. Nasser and Ashutosh Rana have done neat job.

Technical Excellence:
Prasanth Varma has proved that he has command over technicians in his debut movie ‘Awe’ itself. This film is made with bigger budget and he got best output from cinematographer Dasaradhi Shivendra.

The framing and angles of the shots are creative Background score is asset to this movie. Dialogue writing is apt. Production values are superb.

Highlights:
Last 25 minutes
Locations and production values
Stylish taking

Drawback:
First half
Uneven narration
Lack of connect

Analysis
Director Prasanth Varma debuted in “Awe”, a different psychological thriller made in a limited budget. His second film “Kalki” is a period investigative thriller.

The film begins interestingly with the voiceover of how the Kollapur region was ruled by noble family of Rani Ramachandramma. Narsappa who sets eyes on grabbing power puts fire to the palace killing all the royal decedents.

This story is revealed by a local villager to journalist Devadatta (Rahul Ramakrishna) and soon Sekhar Babu, brother of Narsappa was killed by hanging him to the tree and putting fire to it.

Then comes the introduction of Rajasekhar. These 15 minutes of the story has set the mood right and draws into the film. We are also transported to new milieu and its problems.

The visuals, the mood, the cinematography are perfect here. But the film completely goes for the toss when the director focuses on Rajasekhar doing his investigation and Rahul Ramakrishna fearing ghost-like figures, etc.

Then there is a lengthy thread of Rajasekhar and his past love affair with Dr. Padma played by Adah Sharma.

The romantic thread and their chemistry is awfully bad and also the sequences shot in Hilly Himalayas have added nothing to the narration except giving some rich production value.

Till the interval, the film goes on sluggish way except giving some engaging moments in between like the killings of villagers when they were on the boat journey from Kollapur to Srisailam.

The director has given more importance to slow motion shots of action stunts, photography and stylized poses of Rajasekhar.

It is only after the end of item song post-interval, the movie focuses on the main story and the mystery unfolds. Who killed Sekhar Babu is revealed in midpoint. The real engaging moments are the final reveal by Nandita Swetha.

While the thriller and its basic point is very clichéd, the director has tried to present it in a stylized way with commercial elements. The action blocks are good but over indulgence on slow motion has tested patience.

The narration is uneven throughout this 142-minute. Despite this it definitely has provided some engaging moments and the reason why Rajasekhar is named after Kalki avatar and the overall Karma effect is explained well.

Overall, “Kalki” is a mixed bag, that has some thrilling moments but the middle-portion is too dull. It is more like style over the substance with neat ending.

Bottom-line: Style Over Substance

‘Mee Babu Maa Babu Pai..’ – Lokesh Reacts To Jagan

Share

In a sharp reaction to Jagan’s decision to constitute sub-committee against the alleged corruption held in previous government, former minister and son of Chandrababu, Nara Lokesh has responded in a shocking manner. He recalled how late YSR had constituted 26 committees against Chandrababu Naidu when the former was in power and none has found Naidu as guilty.

Lokesh said, ” Your father had constituted 26 committees against my father. Tried every possibility to tag my father as corrupt and had even taken unlawful ways, but nothing worked. He was unsuccessful. Now it is not possible even for you. The committee that was constituted against Vamsadhara gave report that not a single rupee corruption took place. You are trying to paint everyone as corrupt since you were corrupt. Your dream to do so will remain as your dream,” said Lokesh. Lokesh also shot back at Jagan saying that there were several chargesheets against Jagan and he was even jailed. Lokesh ridiculed Jagan’s statements on morals, ethics and honesty. Lokesh has also shared all the 26 documents of YSR’s committees against Naidu.

Meanwhile, CM Jagan has decided that the probe should be done in 30 major issues. He want to use ACB, CID, Vigilence and Enforcement Directorate for the probe and directed the officials to take necessary help from the investigating agencies.

Lokesh’s sharp comments on YSR and calling him Jagan’s Babu are expected to get severe reactions from YCP leaders.

Jagan In Action: Ganta & Murali Mohan’s buildings Down

Share

The YSR Congress government has initiated the demolition drive all over the state. After Praja Vedika, the AP government focus shifted to next popular city in state, Vizag. The other day buildings belonging to TDP leaders Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Murali Mohan and couple of others were razed by Greater Visakha Municipal Council (GVMC) officials.

In the Collector’s Conference, CM Jagan has directed all the district Collectors to bring down all the illegal constructions without hesitation. Getting orders from the Collector, Vizag town planning officials started identifying concrete complexes that were built without permission. Murali Mohan’s Jayabheri runs True Value car showroom in Zone 2 of MVP Sector 11 and having noticed that it lacks permission, the town planning officials have demolished it on Wednesday.

Former minister Ganta’s camp office is situated in Bheemili and this comes under Zone 1 and former MLA Pila Govind’s building in Dwaraka Nagar of Zone 2 are identified to be against the plan proposed by the town planning officials. The Commissioner has asked the planning officials to raze them on Thursday.

A Good News From Jagananna To Inter Students

Share

AP CM YS Jagan has announced that the ‘Amma Odi’ scheme has been extended to students of intermediate too. On Thursday, Jagan held a review meeting with education department officials and while discussing many factors, CM Jagan has decided to extend the ‘Amma Odi’ scheme.

Under this scheme, a cash incentive of Rs 15,000 will be credited to the mothers who admit their children in schools be it government or private. Initially, the state government decided of limiting ‘Amma Odi’ to students who get admitted in government schools. There was an uproar and confusion on it. Couple of days back, the CMO clarified that the scheme will be applicable even if students get admitted private schools.

Families who hold white ration card are applicable for this scheme and CM Jagan has ordered the officials to prepare guidelines for this scheme. Jagan has asked officials to include students who are studying in government, private junior colleges and residing in the hostels and residential hostels.

So a good news for intermediate students and their mothers as well.

Wink Girl Turns Singer

Share

Stardom and popularity have met Priya Prakash Varrier in a blink of an eye. With just one wink and an infectious smile, the actress could coin the phrase which made her an instant star. Now, the new revelation is that Priya is not a good actress but also a good singer. This hidden talent has been shared by the actress on her Instagram handle.

She has turned into a singer for her upcoming Malayalam film called Finals. The song that she sings is a romantic number ‘Nee Mazhavillu Pole’ and the famous singer Naresh Iyer has sung the male part. Uploading her beautiful vocals, the actress wrote, “I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful response to my first attempt! Do watch the full video if you haven’t by clicking the link in my bio. (sic)” on her Instagram.

But, as usual, the risk of being trolled has entered Priya’s way all over again. Her singing debut made a few netizens ridicule her by saying that the song is ‘auto-tuned’. No matter how many trolls have hit her video, Priya ignored them all like a boss and said to be proud of her work. On the other hand, she also received a lot of encouragement from sensible people and have asked her to continue singing.

Finals is a women-centric Malayalam film, directed by Arun PR. The film is all about preparing for the Olympics 2020. The music directed Kailas Menon gave the actress an opportunity to lend her voice for one of the good songs in the album.
