Elections 2019: The two options before Naidu

Share

There are to options in front of Chandrababu Naidu to protect himself and his associates: One is to retain power in Andhra Pradesh. This is the primary objective.

If the TDP loses in Andhra, there is absolutely no doubt that Chandrababu and his associates are in for big trouble.

YSRCP leaders led by YS Jagan had been subjected to a lot of harassment by the TDP these five years and they will return it in full measure to Chandrababu with ‘interest’.

There is a strong possibility of a CBI inquiry against Chandrababu Naidu and his men if the YSRCP comes to power.

In order to safeguard himself against such possible outcomes, Chandrababu needs to be on good terms with the Centre. This is his second option.

The BJP was never favourably disposed towards the TDP which makes it imperative for Chandrababu that an anti-BJP coalition led by the Congress forms the government.

It is for this reason that Chandrababu has launched a tirade against the BJP and trying his best to ensure that Modi does not come to power again.

If Jagan wins in AP but the Congress comes to power at the Centre, they can forestall any inquiries against Chandrababu.

If Chandrababu wins in AP and the BJP at the Centre again, once again, there will be no support forthcoming to Andhra Pradesh.

The utopian scenario for Chandrababu is if he wins in Andhra and the Congress at the Centre. Any takers for this line of thought?

Meanwhile, Chandrababu continues his diatribe against Modi on a daily basis ad nauseam. Will his efforts yield any fruit?

Kangana flaunts princess-like look at Cannes red carpet

Cannes: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut looked no less than a princess out of a fairytale in a stunning pink and lavender hued trailed gown at the ongoing 72nd Cannes Film Festival.

After flaunting bold looks, the “Queen” star opted for a stunning soft and feminine gown by Filipino fashion designer Micheal Cinco.

But what really caught the eye was her beautiful long embellished trail.

“I am wearing a Michael Cinco Couture gown, with pink and lavender hues and it’s jewelled. It is very structured but at the same time, it has an absolutely romantic vibe to it. It is fierce and translucent but has a romantic vibe,” Kangana, who is here courtesy a brand association with Grey

Goose, said in a statement.

The 32-year-old actress completed her look with Chopard jewels, soft curls and minimal make-up.

Talking about her look, she said: “The hair is very romantic and regal and the make-up is also soft and we didn’t create contrast. I have never done softer looks, I have never done pink for any red carpet and it’s not my colour, so for me, it’s a definition of a risk.”

Kangana made a smashing red carpet appearance with a classic Kanjeevaram saree paired with a corset, followed by an edgy Nedret Taciroglu pant-suit for an after a party.

NY bar turns away turban-wearing Sikh youth

Share

New York: A Sikh youth has claimed that a bar in New York’s Long Island didn’t let him enter because he was wearing a turban.

Gurvinder Grewal, a recent graduate from the Stony Brook University, went out to meet his friends late night on May 11 at the Harbor Grill in Port Jefferson. But the 23-year-old was “embarrassed” when a manager told him that he would not be allowed in with a head covering.

“I felt shocked, embarrassed and hurt,” Grewal told The New York Post daily on Wednesday.

“I never encountered a situation where I was refused a service or entry into an establishment for wearing a turban.

“I explained to the manager that it was a turban and I wore it to practice my religion. However, he kept telling me that it was the owner’s policy,” Grewal told the daily.

“I explained that I just wanted to hang out with some friends for the night and even went to the back of the line to try and explain my situation again a second time, which still did not work.”

The fine-dining spot with waterfront views enforces a dress code after 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The rules restrict all headwear. The manager told Grewal it was a new policy.

“(He was) wearing what would be more widely perceived as the slang term ‘dew rag’ or a ‘stocking cap’ and not a traditional turban,” the restaurant wrote in a Facebook post after residents expressed outrage.

“We do not allow hats or headwear in order to more capably identify people inside the establishment.”

The restaurant said that Harbor Grill “embraces people of all races and religions,” and does not discriminate against anyone for their creed or colour.

“We sincerely apologize for any distress that this incident may have caused. Please know that our weekend dress code policy is in place for the safety of all of our patrons.”

Grewal told The New York Post that Port Jefferson Mayor Margot Garant apologised to him for the incident and advised him on actions to take on the issue.

Is Mahesh Babu ‘Reddy Gari Abbayi?’

Share

With Maharshi not satisfying the core masala seekers from Telugu films, it looks like fans already started expecting big from the upcoming film of Superstar Mahesh. It’s none other than the one that will be directed Anil Ravipudi once our hero returns from his United Kingdom tour.

Rumours are now coming that actually, Anil is considering some crazy titles for this movie. Earlier there was a talk that this script is nothing but the ‘Ramarao Garu’ story the director has narrated to Balayya Babu earlier. But now, the talk is that this film will have a faction element and the title will be like ‘Reddy Gari Abbayi’.

Like we revealed it earlier, the film will have the Rayalaseema touch as we have seen in Aagadu but it will be dealt with a huge dose of comedy. And then this title is more of a confirmation that indeed they are working on a film that is based on seema region.

However, sources close to the film confirmed that this is just a working title and the real title will be revealed later on.

While the total polled votes in the four booths was 2736 votes, 2493 votes were polled in favour of the TDP while YSRCP secured a meager 218 votes. TDP leaders alleging that Chevireddy is intentionally targeting the booths where TDP has good hold and strength.

Modi’s 1st press conference, Amit Shah Takes Questions, Rahul Trolls

Share

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is perhaps the only Prime Minister in the history of India who did not attend press conference till date. But, he changed it with his first-ever press meet and interaction with journalists in Delhi where he appeared with BJP Party President Amit Shah. This Press Conference of Modi also made to the top trends on Twitter.

The Prime Minister, however, went off tangent when he began talking like one of his election speeches which soon got the media persons disinterested and frustrated. In his beginning lines at the press conference, Modi said: ‘Our democracy is a vibrant one, full of goodness. I have come to you to thank you for giving me ashirvad (blessings) and letting me work for the country for the last five years.’

However, when a reporter asked Modi a question, he responded saying he will not take any questions because the press conference is being addressed by Amit Shah and in BJP’s system, discipline has to be followed. This irked the journalists further and when another reporter asked a question to the Prime Minister, Amit Shah said ‘I will answer your questions. It is not necessary for the Prime Minister to answer every question of yours.’

However, he soon attracted trolls and criticism from the journalists who said Modi’s first press conference was probably confused as Modi’s Mann Ki Baat. Meanwhile, Congress President Rahul Gandhi tweeted: ‘Congratulations Modi Ji. Excellent Press Conference! Showing up is half the battle. Next time Mr Shah may even allow you to answer a couple of questions. Well done!’

Several trolls began criticising Modi for re-directing al the questions to Amit Shah. Journalists said ‘only Amit Shah answering questions at press conference. PM redirects questions to the party president, sitting quietly next to Shah on stage.’ Meanwhile, trolls had a field day as many said Modi didn’t have scripted answers like his interview with News Nation and that’s why he remained silent while some said it was Modi’s ‘guess appearance’ at his own press conference.
