KCR to make MIM Akbaruddin as LoP in Assembly!

Share

TRS chief and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao who is hell-bent on stripping Congress of Main Opposition status in Telangana Legislative Assembly, has been making quick moves to make MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi as Leader of Opposition through ‘back door method’.

At present, Congress has Main Opposition status in Assembly and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is the Leader of Opposition.

However, soon after coming to power for second term, KCR launched ‘operation akarsh’ to engineer defections in Congress.

Congress won 19 seats in recent Assembly polls. But 11 Congress MLAs have already announced their decision to join TRS, thanks to KCR’s ‘operation akarsh’. Congress currently has just 8 MLAs.

If two more Congress MLAs join Congress, which is expected in another two days, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) can be merged into TRS Legislature Party (TRSLP).

With this Congress will lose Main Opposition status and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka will lose Leader of Opposition status in Assembly.

The number of Congress MLAs in Assembly is expected to come down to 5 or 6 members in a week or so as few more are expected to join TRS soon.

MIM has 7 MLAs. This makes MIM, the second largest party in the House after ruling TRS.

With this, KCR has devised a sketch to accord ‘Main Opposition’ status to MIM. To get Main Opposition status, a party requires 12 MLAs in Telangana Assembly.

Though MIM has just 7 MLAs, KCR wants to accord ‘Main Opposition’ status through back-door for his friendly party MIM.

The backdoor method is that MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi will be offered the seat in House meant for Leader of Opposition.

Currently, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka occupies this seat. After Congress loses Main Opposition status, the remaining 5 or 6 Congress MLAs will be pushed to bank benches.

MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi will sit in LoP seat and other MIM MLAs will occupy the seats allotted for Congress MLAs.

In this way, KCR wants his ‘friendly party’ to be “Main Opposition” in Assembly.

Naidu keen to buy Jana Sena, YSRCP MLAs to grab power again!

Share

After analysing the TDP’s prospects in Andhra Pradesh Assembly polls with party’s MLA and MP candidates on April 22 in Amaravathi, TDP chief and AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu reportedly came to a conclusion that TDP will not get required seats to form the government on its own and it had to engineer defections in Jana Sena and YSRCP, if at all it wants to grab power again.

Naidu’s reported comments in this meeting clearly indicated that he foresees a hung Assembly and no party would be able to form the government on its own.

Few TDP candidates who participated in this meeting are giving ‘leaks’ to media on Naidu’s comments.

Naidu is learnt to have told party’s candidates that Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena has damaged TDP’s prospects in 30 to 35 seats, while TDP candidates failed in executing ‘poll management strategy’ effectively in another 20 to 25 seats.

In the worst-case scenario, Naidu estimated that TDP will lose 30 seats on account of Jana Sena splitting votes and it will also lose another 20 seats due to bad poll management.

This will result in TDP losing 50 seats straight away.

Of the remaining 125 seats, Naidu expressed doubts over party bagging the required seats, that is 88 seats, to form the government.

At this stage, when some party’s candidates asked Naidu what would be the party’s strategy under these circumstances, Naidu is learnt to have told them to be in touch with Jana Sena and YSRCP candidates, who are sure to win the seats.

Naidu reportedly assured them that he will take care of ‘money issues’ to buy MLAs from YSRCP and Jana Sena.

He told them that money is not a constraint from him, they need not bother about money as he will mobilise the required funds to buy MLAs.

Naidu specifically asked ministers and top TDP leaders to be in touch with at least 40 to 50 Jana Sena and YSRCP candidates for the next 30 days, lure them with ‘good packages’ and explain them what they would get in return, if they switch sides to TDP and help TDP form the government.

In the end, Naidu reportedly made his intentions clear that he will go to any extent to grab power and become CM for the consecutive second term but will not accept defeat just like that and sit quietly.

Disha Patani’s ‘Slow motion’ sari look sparks debate

Share

Actress Disha Patani has rekindled Bollywood’s romance with the yellow sari through the “Slow motion” song from Salman Khan’s “Bharat”. But it has left many asking “Where’s the sari?”

In the video of the peppy number by Vishal and Shekhar featuring Nakash Aziz and Shreya Ghoshal, Disha is seen Matching her dance moves along with Salman.

But it is her sensual yellow sari with a ‘pallu’ twisted like a rope and thrown over her shoulder, that has caught attention. The song garnered over 24 million views on YouTube in just 24 hours.

Award-winning textile designer Gaurang Shah feels the essence of the sari has got completely diluted.

“Well, everyone one has a choice to reinvent, but that doesn’t mean you do away with fundamental essence that made sari a beautiful attire for generations. It is a celebration of our cultural legacy and heritage. A sari is a sari. You must drape it in a manner that retains its magnificent character,” Shah told IANS.

Designer Varija Bajaj called it a poor rendition in the name of reinventing ways to drape the six-yard wonder.

“Designers all across are working of reinventing the classic saris into sari gowns, lehenga saris, saris with jeans and some of them are extremely beautiful inventions,” Bajaj told IANS.

“There is a very thin line between a beautiful innovation and a tragic disaster when it comes to designers reinventing a sari. A poor rendition not only looks distasteful, but also kills the very essence of feminism in a sari, and I guess that forms the majority chunk of such reinventions,” she added.

Ace designer Ritu Kumar feels the stylist hasn’t broken “any norm” with the look.

“A sari is an unstitched garment and it is worn in different ways in different parts of the country. A sari can come in nine yards to three yards. There is no standardisation of a sari and there never has been,” said Kumar, adding that there is no “traditional way or a hard and fast rule to wear a sari”.

“It happens to be the most provocative and versatile garment in the world. It is somebody’s choice on how you want to wear it,” she added.

Textile revivalist Madhu Jain feels there should be room for innovation, but the traditional way is here to stay.

“Saris have been reinvented for years now. However, while trends come and go, the traditional drapes will remain forever. And even there, each state has its own drape. Think of Gujarat’s seedha pallu sari, Maharashtra’s Nauvari drape, Bengal’s Athpourey style, Andhra Pradesh’s Kappulu drape, and so on,” Jain told IANS.

For many, Disha’s avatar turned out to be a nostalgic trip to Raveena Tandon’s iconic look from 1990’s song “Tip tip barsa paani” or Madhuri Dixit’s “Dhak dhak” look. And for some, it became a joke with memes about the look going viral.

One user tweeted: “Look at that sari ka pallu covering Disha, (it) is (like) the syllabus I covered during the whole year.”

Another posted: “This is the only sari which has naadaa instead of pallu.”

There were memes showing Disha in the sari. One read: “If you ever feel useless, think of Disha’s pallu in this song.”

In one image, a blurb pointing at Disha’s pallu reads: “Am I a joke to you?”.

Where Are They Now? Lakshmi Parvathi, devotee-turned-second wife of NTR

Share

Hyderabad: He was her first love. He was the king of Telugu silver screen and she was 16-year-old college girl. Like for many Telugus, N.T. Rama Rao was demigod for her. She penned a poem in 1980 describing him as a star in the sky who remains out of reach for someone standing on earth and longing for it.

But they were destined for each other. Lakshmi Parvathy met NTR for the first time in 1991 with a request to write his biography. Thus began the love story, culminating in their marriage a year later. It resulted in a catacysmic series of events, the reverbrations of which are being felt even today.

NTR, as the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister was popularly known, was 70 and had lost his first wife Basvatarakam to cancer. Lakshmi Parvathi, a college lecturer and author from Narsraopet town of Guntur district, was almost half his age and had separated from her first husband.

NTR was out of power at the time after serving two terms as Chief Minister and a brief flirtation with national politics before returning to the state.

Lakshmi’s life took a dramatic turn in 1994 as NTR led the TDP back to power with a record-breaking majority. She was hailed as ‘Lucky Parvathi’ who helped him regain the glory. However, this did not last long.

In August 1995, NTR’s children from his first wife led by his son-in-law N. Chandrababu Naidu staged a revolt and captured power, citing growing interference in party and administration by Lakshmi Parvathi.

Five months later, NTR died of cardiac arrest and it was all gloom for Lakshmi Parvathi. She vowed revenge on Naidu for snatching her husband but with no support from any quarter she went into political oblivion.

Even after two decades her only wish is to see the political downfall of the man she believes responsible for untimely death of NTR.

“I believe his political end is nearing and whenever this happens I will fulfil my vow by immersing the ashes of my husband in the Ganga and the Cauvery,” Parvathi told IANS.

Currently with YSR Congress Party but not active in politics, she is only praying for Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy to humble Naidu in the just-concluded elections.

“I have no ambition for power. I never wanted any position,” says Parvathi.

She believes that “Lakshmi’s NTR”, a movie made by well-known filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has brought her story into focus.

Varma described it as the most intense and dramatic love story ever.

“Yes. There was so much love between me and NTR. He tried to protect me till the end,” recalled Parvathi.

Speaking of how the marriage came out, Lakshmi said: “I used to come every Saturday and Sunday to Hyderabad (for working on the biography). One day he suddenly asked me ‘will you marry me’. I didn’t know what to say because I had separated from my first husband and was living with my parents. I also had a son to look after. I sought one month’s time and then agreed to marry him.”

They married secretly in 1992 and it was in 1993 that NTR publicly announced it at a film event in Tirupati.

Lakshmi believes that while they were enjoying a happily married life, his family members became jealous of her and started the conspiracies.

“They did not allow us to live peacefully and the backstabbing by NTR’s own family members shocked and claimed his life. It was a planned murder,” she added.

She laments that she met her ‘god’ very late and got very little time to spend with him.

“All I have today is his memories, his portraits and busts, one of which is in my pooja room. I still worship him,” said the woman who tries to overcome the sorrow through writing.

Samantha’s most memorable birthday

Share

The Akkineni Kodalu, Samantha has turned a year old on Sunday but this is probably her most memorable and happiest birthday and it has all the right reasons too.

Majili is the first reason. This is her first film with Naga Chaitanya post their wedding. The film went on to become a biggest hit in Chay’s career.

The other reason is Samantha is continuing her success streak at the box office.

‘Rangasthalam, ‘U Turn’ ‘Super Delux’ are all blockbusters and Samantha’s performance from all her previous movies very different from each other. As an actress, she is very satisfied the way her career is moving.

Now Samantha has ‘Oh Baby!’ and ‘96’ remake. Both the films have unique content and so we can expect a lot more from her.

Anyway wishing Samantha Akkineni many more happy returns of the day and hope she continues to entertain us like she always does.

Why is KTR silent on Inter fiasco?

Share

The unusual silence of Telangana Rashtra Samithi working president K T Rama Rao over the goofs-up in the declaration of Intermediate examination results that led to the suicides of nearly 20 students has surprised the opposition parties.

Normally, KTR has the habit of reacting on any major issue immediately on his social media platforms. But so far, he has not made any comments.

His father and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also reacted to the fiasco in the Intermediate results only after five days and death of as many as 18 students. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee leader Ponnam Prabhakar wondered why KTR was tight-lipped over the bungling in Intermediate examinations results.

“The answer is obvious. The private company Globarena got Rs 125 crore contract in the Intermediate board only with the recommendation of KTR,” he alleged. Ponnam criticised that the TRS government was intentionally destroying the educational system in the state. He demanded the government to reveal the three member committee report regarding inter results issue.

Telangana Jana Samithi president Prof M Kodandaram said KCR was neglecting the education sector only because he did not want educated youth question the failures of his government. He threatened to lead a massive rally to Intermediate Board to demand sacking of its secretary.

Avengers End Game Movie Review

Share

Avengers: Infinity War had left fans shell shocked by ending it on an wildly unpredictable note. The bad guy Thanos not only wins over the powerful and most loved superheroes The Avengers but also wipes out half the living beings on the earth including some superheroes with the snap of a finger. Avengers: Endgame starts few weeks after the chaos and the remaining superheroes are left dispirited and weak. They want to avenge the loss of their loved ones. But will revenge itself let them live in peace?

Avengers: Endgame is not just any superhero film. It is the culmination of more than twenty movies in the Marvel cinematic universe. Directors Russo brothers had a Herculean task on hands as they need to deliver a film that lives up to the humongous hype and endless expectations of the fans of the franchise. The writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely made it an easy job by penning a spectacular and a satisfying finale to the most loved film of the last decade.

The film is all about moments. Every superhero character gets to shine no matter how miniscule their role is. The beauty of Endgame is it never thrives to create that whistle worthy fan moments. Even the best heroic shots or scenes come as a part of the film. Some characters are introduced just without any buildup and some enters the scene with a bang. However, none of the entries go unnoticed. Almost ninety percent of the characters gets an applause from the audience at their introduction.

Another interesting thing about the franchise is showing the most powerful characters in a comical way. Hulk’s transformation is just hilarious and he steals the show in his entry scenes. Also the self-proclaimed strongest avenger Thor gets another shocking transformation and he is fun to watch. There is that Big Lebowski vibe to his character that is addressed by the Ironman character in a scene. Avengers has lots of drama but the conversations are lively and funnier all the time. The references to other movies are hilarious.

Audience and fans expect to see a grand spectacle of action episodes from a movie of this scale. The directors are aware of it, but they don’t just provide them all the time. They make us wait for it with proper buildup to the final act. Marvel Cinematic Universe has changed the outlook of superhero films by making drama a vital part of the storytelling. Avengers: Endgame has some powerful emotional moments that any fan would want to undo. The most defining moments are the ones where Ironman and Thor meets their father and mother respectively. It is just hard to analyze Avengers: Endgame without giving away the spoilers. But we are making our best efforts to not to give away anything that fans wouldn’t want to know without watching the movie.

Not many movies were successful in giving a perfect ending to a popular franchise. It is a lot of exercise for the director as well as the writers to connect all the dots and make sure to have a significant role for all the important characters. The ending will leave a lump in the throat for fans for sure even though it isn’t as heartbreaking as the ending of Infinity War. This film is sure to leave everyone satisfied no matter how hyped up they are. Avengers: Endgame will not only break the tons of box office records but also will win millions of hearts. It is a movie that needs to be watched on the larger screen possible and trust me you will love it 3000
