‘My wife will leave me if I join politics’

Share

The above statement is made by none other than former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Raghuram Rajan. Post the BJP led NDA government denying him second term as RBI chief, there were reports that Raghuram will join politics. But these reports remained untrue till date.

Speaking about, Rajan said, ”Politics everywhere is similar. The point is I have no interest in politics. My wife has said she will not stay with me if I join politics.” There are speculations that if Congress is voted to power in New Delhi, Rajan is likely to be inducted in the cabinet. Reacting on this, the ex-RBI boss said he is happy wherever he is.

On BJP led NDA government, Rajan said he doesn’t find any dissimilarities between NDA and UPA as both the government are working reforms. The future reforms that can tackle the economic challenges will be the high priority of the next government.

Rajan’s words say that he is supporting neither UPA nor NDA but wants the successive governments to focus on economy and creating jobs for the next generation.

That is why I quit TDP and joined TRS: Errabelli

Share

For three decades, Errabelli Dayakar Rao was in Telugu Desam and got a name that he was the true loyalist of Chandrababu Naidu. Post the separate state, Errabelli continued in TDP but he was always looking at TRS. Finally KCR had managed to influence Errabelli and now the Palakurthi MLA is a minister in the TRS government.

After becoming minister Errabelli changed the tone and said that he was deceived by Chandrababu Niadu and it was KCR who stuck to his word and gave him ministry. Now Errabelli revealed why he quit TDP and joined TRS.

”TDP is completely dead in Telangana and the party has no future. Very soon Congress party will meet the same fate. The only party for Telangana is TRS and so I joined it,” Errabelli. He further added that every leader will certainly feel bad when they quit their first party, like so he did too experienced the same he resigned to TDP.

Somewhat these statements are confusing. Is Errabelli happy or sad leaving TDP and joining TRS? Only he knows.

Chandrababu to intensify stir in Delhi for 50% VVPAT counting

Share

AP Chief Minister and Telugu Desam national president N. Chandrababu Naidu said he, along with the support of various other political parties, would stage a protest in New Delhi demanding that 50 per cent of the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) should be counted. He claimed that some non-voluntary organisations (NGOs) were also coming forward for the cause. He said that the NGOs would conduct awareness programmes on VVPATs. ”We will write letters to the VVPAT experts in the country soon,” he said.

In the teleconference held with the party leaders and functionaries, Chandrababu said that there was a need to put the EC on track, when it was taking decisions unilaterally. He added that the political leaders at the national-level were surprised to know that a few people cast their votes at 4.30 am.

Chandrababu told his cadre that their fight was against the poll panel but not against the poll officials posted to the state. All the officials, except those executing the poling related works, will have to work under the government. He lauded the government officials for the support they extended to him during the last five years. He alleged that some people with vested interests were trying to divide them in the name of caste and religion.

On the irregularities in TS Inter results, Chandrababu said that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and TRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao was being trolled for it on the social media for the goof-up.

Commenting on review meetings, he said that from May 1, review meetings will be held with the area coordinators in each constituency. Revolving fund would be arranged for the party cadre, Chandrababu informed and added that in a democracy, the cadre is the only reliable thing for any political party. Officials are also necessary. Both the systems are essential, he said.

Now Konda knocks High Court doors

Share

A day after the Nampally court rejecting the anticipatory bail petition, Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy has approached the High Court for the same.

Advocate on behalf of Konda claimed that this is a political vendetta of the ruling TRS party to trouble him and so the government is deliberately putting fake cases against him and trying to arrest him. After hearing the arguments, the High Court has put off its decision to Monday.

Before the Lok Sabha elections, Konda’s personal advocate was caught with Rs 15 Lakh cash in Gachibowli Hyderabad. Based on this, the police had been to Konda’s residence to issue notices. But Konda reportedly held captive of an SI and Head Constable for couple of days.

Later the police officials were let off and the two men have filed a complaint against Konda in Banajara Hills. An FIR was registered and an arrest warrant was out too. To escape from arrest Konda applied for an anticipatory bail. But the Nampally court rejected Konda’s plea.

Ever since the arrest warrant was issued, Konda went into hiding and it’s been more than a week that the police are unable to catch hold of the Chevella MP.

New intelligence chief not reporting to Naidu!

Share

When senior IPS officer A B Venkateshwara Rao was the Director General of Police (Intelligence) in Andhra Pradesh government, he used to report directly to Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, even when there was a model code of conduct in force for the elections.

Following a complaint from YSR Congress party that Venkateshwara Rao was acting like a TDP agent and targeting the opposition, the Election Commission immediately shifted him from the post and replaced him with another senior IPS officer Kumar Vishwajeet on March 31. After the elections, Rao was appointed as DGP of Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Now, Vishwajeet, being an intelligence chief, has to report to the chief minister directly, as per the norms, but chief electoral officer Gopala Krishna Dwivedi apparently instructed him not to report to Naidu, but to newly appointed chief secretary L V Subrahmanyam directly.

This has infuriated Naidu. On Friday, he dashed off a nine-page strongly worded letter to the Chief Election Commissioner questioning the authority of the CEO.

“Dwivedi told the media that the chief minister does not have the power to conduct review meetings when the model code of conduct in force. He also directed ADG (Intelligence) not to report to me. This is nothing but exceeding his jurisdiction,” he said.

Naidu pointed out that there was no such provision in the model code of conduct that intelligence chief should not report to the CM.

“Intelligence chief directly works under the control of the chief minister. How can he not report to me? I am a democratically elected chief minister and not a caretaker CM,” he said.

He asked whether the EC had also directed Intelligence Bureau Director and the National Security Advisor not to meet and brief Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Why are these discriminating orders being issued only in case of Andhra Pradesh? The EC has no authority to bar an elected government from discharging its duties,” he said.

He pointed out that the Modi government had held a cabinet meeting on April 15 despite the model code of conduct being in force and even today, regular security briefings and meetings were taking place at the central level.

“Even the chief minister of Telangana is conducting review meetings regularly”, he pointed out.

He said since there is a large gap of 42 days before the results are announced on May 23, the normal administration cannot be allowed to come to a standstill.

“Since the electorate has already exercised their franchise, the EC has no jurisdiction to stop any review meeting or briefing,” he said.

Modi biopic to release after LS polls, SC will not step in

Share

The Supreme Court on Friday refused to interfere with the Election Commission on the biopic “PM Narendra Modi”.

The poll panel told the court that movie should be released only after the Lok Sabha elections got over.

The seven phased polls began on April 11, when the biopic was to release. The polls will get over on May 19 and the counting on votes in May 23.

To secure level playing ground, the poll panel was asked to take a call.

After Jagan, Naidu also wants to ‘chill out’!

Share

After the polling for the assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh concluded on April 11, YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy left for Switzerland along with his family to escape from the summer heat and chill out there.

Obviously, Jagan needed the much-needed break after hectic political activity in the last two years. He will be returning on April 27 evening.

On the other hand, Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu did not take any rest.

While creating a ruckus over the failure of Electronic Voting Machines in and outside Andhra Pradesh, Naidu kept himself busy with reviews with officials and also with party leaders. He also campaigned for other parties in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Now, at last, the TDP chief has realized that he, too, needs mental and physical rest for some time. So, he and his family members left for Himachal Pradesh on Friday. He would be spending some time to relax and escape from the summer heat in Vijayawada and Amaravati.

It is very much essential for Naidu to have the break as he has entered 70 years and has to overcome the strain. So, when 46-year old Jagan can chill out after the hectic electioneering, Naidu also decided to chill out in Himalayas. He is expected to return by Monday evening.

Whenever there is an opportunity, Naidu loves to spend some time with his grandson Nara Devansh. Even a day before the polling, the TDP chief was found playing with the grandson in the lawns of his office-cum-residence at Vundavalli.

Hope Naidu will get the mental peace in the snow mountains by playing with his grandson and returns to the city. A victory or a defeat in the elections should matter much for him!

Paul surfaces again after hibernation!

Share

After the completion of assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh, maverick evangelist and Praja Shanti Party president K A Paul could not be seen anywhere.

Initially for a couple of days after the polling, Paul made a lot of hungama on the alleged failrues of electronic voting machines, on the lines of Telugu Desam Party. He even went to New Delhi to make a representation to EC authorities on the EVMs’ malfunctioning.

He appeared in a television channel to explain how he had transformed from a hard core evangelist to a full-fledged politician. He did not bother about the trolling he has been receiving in the social media.

Later, Paul completely disappeared from the scene. On Friday, he surfaced again but not in Andhra Pradesh. He was found in Sri Lanka, where there were massive bomb explosions by ISIS terrorists killing over 350 people.

Apparently, Paul went there to pray for those who died in the church and hotel blasts. All said and done, he is a popular evangelist who has a huge following in several countries even now. May be, he went to Sri Lanka on the same mission.

Despite being in Colombo, Paul expressed shock over a spate of suicides by students who failed in the Intermediate examinations due to goof-up by the Telangana state intermediate board. In an emotional message, he appealed to student not to take extreme steps.

He also expressed confidence that Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao will do justice to the failed Intermediate students and warned that if KCR did not do justice for them, he would take up the fight against him.

He added that he responded lately over this issue as because there are some restrictions imposed on usage of internet in Sri Lanka. He asked the people to pray for the families who lost their dear ones in Sri Lanka bomb blasts.

Kanchana 3 Turns Out to be Big Hit

Share

Raghava Lawrence’s gamble has paid off. His decision to change the release date of “Kanchana 3” from May 1st to April 19th has worked out to his advantage while for Nani it worked adversely.

Nani’s “Jersey” was to release on 5th April but it was postponed to April 19. Thus Nani’s film suffered collections by competing with Lawrence’s movie.

“Kanchana 3” has collected more than Rs 16 Cr in its first week in Telugu states. The movie is a huge hit. All the distributors are in profits already. Lawrence is the producer of the movie.

The brand name of this franchise is so strong in the mass centers that the audiences came in big numbers though this is weakest movie in the entire series.

The jokes are outdated; the narration is clumsy but the mass audiences didn’t care for the flaws. Now that “Kanchana 3” too have become a hit, Lawrence will contemplate to make another sequel.

This is also first dubbed movie to become hit in Telugu states after a long time.

But for EC, Naidu could stop thunderbolts!

Share

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has come out with a strange argument while castigating the Election Commission.

In his letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, Naidu accused the commission of questioning his authority from conducting review meetings.

He went to the extent of alleging that seven people had died of thunderbolts in the entire state last week only because he was not allowed to review the departmental works.

“The deaths could have been averted had the democratically elected government been allowed to function.

As the chief minister, I could have monitored and implemented preventive measures to save seven previous lives lost due to thunderbolts. Who is responsible for these deaths?” he asked.

It means, Naidu has the technology and power to stop thunderbolts by holding review meetings. He could not do so only because EC prevented him from doing so.

Well, that is height of exaggeration. Yes, there is a technology available with the Andhra Pradesh government to send advance warnings to the people on the possible fall of thunderbolts.

The disaster management department, with the help of Real Time Governance System (RTGS) has been sending such alerts for the last two years.

But it doesn’t require the chief minister to hold the meetings and issue orders. Whether Naidu is there or not, the department will continue to send warning signals to the people and prevent the deaths due to thunderbolts.

In fact, irrespective of Naidu’s meetings, the department would have definitely send the warning signals to the people and probably, seven of them ignored these warning and fell victims. They would not have waited for Naidu to make the warning announcements!

Has KCR given up party work completely?

Share

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to have virtually given up involving the party affairs after he anointed his son and Siricilla MLA K T Rama Rao as the working president of the party.

It is evident from the reports that KCR is not going to attend the TRS formation day celebrations to be held at Telangana Bhavan, the party’s headquarters at Banjara Hills Road No. 12 on Saturday.

According to sources, KCR won’t take part in the celebrations. Instead, it will be KTR show at the Telangana Bhavan. He will participate in the flag hoisting program to mark the party formation day at 9 am at the party headquarters.

Several ministers, MLAs and important functionaries of the party would attend the programme.

He will address the party functionaries and give them direction to work hard for party’s victory in the coming zilla parishad and mandal parishad elections.

This is for the first time that KCR will not be attending the TRS foundation day celebrations. Every time, it used to be a big affair with the party hosting its plenary, followed by the public meeting to be addressed by the party president.

Last year, it was a colourful function at Kompalli and party leaders and cadre used to look up to electrifying speeches of KCR. Now, his role is being taken over by KTR.

The party working president has already announced that the 18th formation day of the party would be a low-key affair and only flag hoisting would be done by the party leaders in districts.
