NTR Biopic Two Part Strategy Proved Costly
‘NTR Kathanayakudu’ is the first biggie to release for Sankranthi. For two days (Jan 9th, 10th), It has got huge advantage be it the ‘First Festival Release’ Factor and Abundant Theatres. Sadly, NTR Biopic failed to draw huge crowds since Day 1. While the First Day Collections fell shot of expectations, Day 2 and Day 3 Revenues continued to drop further. Even the largely positive reviews hasn’t boosted the collections in any territory and that’s shocking to say the least!
Decision to make NTR Biopic in Two Parts backfired. What appeared like a wise decision considering the budget & recovery factors prior to the release worked against ‘NTR Kathanayakudu’. There were hardly any ups and downs in the film career of NTR. This is why enough drama & twists went missing in the Part 1.
It would have been a different story altogether had if Makers released NTR Biopic in a single part. ‘NTR Kathanayakudu’ appeared more like a show reel of Balayya rather than as his Father’s biopic. Focus was more on the iconic roles essayed by NTR rather than real-life incidents.
Poor Show of ‘NTR Kathanayakudu’ would certainly affect the business of ‘NTR Mahanayakudu’. Competition from YSR Biopic gonna worry the makers of NTR even more. Don’t be surprised if the release date of ‘NTR Mahanayakudu’ gets pushed to March end citing the 10-days balance shoot.
In Talk: Yatra Crisp Runtime!
Makers of ‘Yatra’ have been doing everything possible to keep the biopic as intriguing as possible. A Runtime of just 1 hour 57 minutes has been fixed with crisp editing.
We have seen how Poor Editing proved costly in the case of several movies in the past. Any such possibility has been ruled out in the case of YSR Biopic. Hardly, There will be any boring moment and the high emotional quotient will make ‘Yatra’ a perfect tribute to the People’s Leader.
Lyricist Penchal Das who shot to fame with ‘Krishnarjuna Yuddham’ and ‘Aravindha Sametha’ penned an emotional song for ‘Yatra’. This track will be placed in the Climax block. Rayalaseema slang and dialect would take the song to the next level. Penchal Das hasn’t only penned the lyrics but also crooned the most crucial song. Unit Members firmly believe Climax song will make the Telugu People very emotional. Expect standing-ovation to YSR in the theatres by the end of ‘Yatra’ screening!
Mahesh Babu Violated Traffic Rules 7 Times
Hyderabad Police haven’t been sparing even Tollywood Celebrities when it comes to traffic violations. Fines imposed on Star Heroes itself is a proof of the strict implementation of the rules.
Mahesh Babu’s Car with Registration No AP 09 CM 4005 broke traffic rules 7 times. Superstar is yet to pay the penalty amount (Rs 8,745).
Sunil was fined Rs 4,540 for over-speeding in Madhapur and Outer-Ring Road.
Balakrishna was fined (Rs 1,035) in Rajendra Nagar for over-speeding.
A fine of Rs 1,035 was imposed on Nithin for breaking Traffic Rules in Alwal.
A Challan of Rs 505 was issued for three traffic violations of Pawan Kalyan’s Car with Registration Number AP 09 CG 7778.
Cops maintained that appropriate action will be taken against anyone, including Film Celebrities, if the fines weren’t paid.
A Charge-Sheet will be filed in the court if the Challans count surpass 10. Vehicle will be seized and Case would be booked if the challans cross the maximum limit of 30.
Huge Shouts For #BigBoss2 Nutan’s Entry
Finally if #BigBoss2 has helped anyone big time, then surely it made contestant Nutan Naidu an actor. He has entered the show as an aspiring politician, and now he has become an actor as well.
In the recently released film F2, Nutan Naidu is seen in a small role, where he appeared as a friend of Vennela Kishore. While the dialogues written for him haven’t created huge laughs, his entry on the screen received huge shouts from the audiences.
Nutan Naidu’s entry gave that surprising element to everyone, as most of the viewers have seen him on #BigBoss2 for a long time and got entertained by his antics. However, his dialogue delivery style in the film sounded as if he is talking to some big participants like Kaushal and Ganesh.

TRS’ new plan to finish TDP in Telangana
In its efforts to end Telugu Desam Party’s existence in Telangana and restrict its activities to Andhra Pradesh, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is going all out to woo the two MLAs who won from its rival party in Satthupally and Aswaraopeta. Apparently, the TRS doesn’t want any Opposition MLAs in the upcoming Assembly session.
In this direction, TRS leaders are in talks with Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, Satthupally MLA from TDP and Matcha Nageswara Rao Ashwaraopeta MLA who won on TDP ticket. If the party is able to attract these two MLAs, then their plan is to ensure merger of TDP Legislative Party into TRS Legislative Party, similar to how Congress leaders tried it.
TRS Chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao has promised Sandra the post of Mission Bhagiratha Chairman while he has offered the post of Girijan Corporation Chairman to Matcha Nageswara Rao.
Sources in the TRS say that Sandra has been affirmative about joining TRS though he has been publicly denying it. On the other hand, if Sandra joins TRS, the TRS High Command has also promised to let him off the hook in the Cash-for-vote scam where he is accused. Meanwhile, though initially Nageswara Rao did not show much interest, he eventually said he will consider joining TRS after the party leaders convinced him.
Using this as his only opportunity against his rival and TDP Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, KCR’s Operation Aakarsh to finish TDP in Telangana seems to be working as both the TDP leaders are keen on joining the pink party.
Akhila Priya clarifies on quitting TDP
For the past couple of days, many unconfirmed reports have hit the headlines that AP minister Bhuma Akhila Priya will soon quit Telugu Desam and join Jana Sena Party.
Though Akhila Priya never made any statement regarding the same, the rumours were spreading like wildfire. The TDP leadership is also observing Akhila Priya’s every moment who recently sent the police protecting back in protest.
Talking about these rumours, Akhila Priya opened up for the first time. “There is absolutely no truth that I’m quitting TDP and it will never happen. Why should I leave TDP when it gave me ministry post and immense respect or for supporting the development in Allagadda constituency,” questioned Akhil Priya.
The minister also said she and her brother Brahmananda Reddy will stick to TDP and win Allagadda and Nandyal constituencies. This brings an end to the Akhila Priya’s row which is bothering TDP for quite sometime.
Ambati Rambabu to join Jana Sena?
The YSR Congress is confident of winning Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh this time. However, there are a few cracks developing within the party as the cadre is unhappy with few senior leaders. The latest news is that Satthenapally’s senior leader from YSRCP Ambati Rambabu is gaining a lot of flak from his own karyakartas.
In a recent meeting, YSRCP leaders in the constituency met and discussed about putting a word to the YSRCP high command not to give him Ambati a ticket for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. They have gone further and also took a resolution in this regard.
Apparently, Ambati got the news and is really upset with the opposition to him within party. Being YSRCP’s fire-brand leader who has a knack for criticising their political rivals, Ambati has been a prominent face in the party and has been loyal to Jagan. Inside sources say that Ambati has been sidelined even by party Chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and is unable to fathom why the sudden change in attitude from his own karyakartas.
Meanwhile, rumours are rife that if such an attitude from the YSRCP persists, Ambati is considering Jana Sena Party as an alternative. If that is the case, where does Ambati’s future lie – in Jana Sena or YSRCP?

Sankranthi Releases’ Latest US Collections
As many as five biggies, both in Telugu and Tamil, have released this Sankranthi season. While NTR Kathanayakudu, Vinaya Vidheya Rama and F2 are locking horns with each other in Telugu, Rajini’s Petta and Ajith’s Viswasam are vying for the Pongal winner’s title.
However, at the US box office, while NTR Kathanayakudu is going steady, F2 has had a decent opening tonight. Meanwhile, Vinaya Vidheya Rama is struggling to post decent collections. On the other hand, Petta is doing good among the Tamil releases, with Viswasam yet to reach the USD 100K mark.
Here’s a look at the latest collections of the Sankranthi releases in the US. Until 12 am on Friday night, NTR Kathanayakudu collected USD 75,210 from 132 locations, taking its updated total to USD 699,867.
Coming to Vinaya Vidheya Rama, the film is finding it tough to post to decent numbers since its release. Until Friday night, VVR collected USD 27,782 from 98 locations and the film’s updated US gross is USD 207,856. And today, F2 opened on a positive note as the film had collected USD 199,676 from the premieres.
Petta’s Tamil and Telugu versions together collected USD 330,629 from 229 locations until Friday night. The film’s updated gross is USD 1,090,664. Petta is Rajini’s seventh USD 1 million movie, which is an unbeatable record in Kollywood. On the other hand, Viswasam collected USD 29,820 from 76 locations, while the film’s 2-day total is USD 84,354.
Apart from the above five movies, Bollywood movies like URI (USD 97,123 from 76 locations), Simmba USD 82,721 from 130 locations) and Accidental Prime Minister (38,454 from 30 locations) are making their presence felt at the US box office.
‘Packup Package’ Ready For Another Director
