It was a mere coincidence that Renu Desai, ex-actress and ex-wife of power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan, was touring Kurnool district when the latter was also on his political tour in the same district on Tuesday.
Pawan Kalyan was in Kurnool as part of his political mission in Rayalaseema, conducting road shows, campaigning for his party and interacting with farmers and students.
Almost at the same time, Renu Desai was also touring villages, interviewing farmers in distress and families of those farmers who had committed suicides due to debts in Mantralayam area.
This led to the speculation that Renu Desai is actively involved in public life and may be, she is evincing keen interest in entering politics. But, Renu was on a different mission.
She is making a film based on farmers’ issues and her interviews with farmers are part of her programme.
However, what led to the speculation about her possible entry into politics is that Renu was doing the interviews on behalf of Sakshi television channel promoted by YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
When people see her holding Sakshi channel’s microphone, it gives a suspicion that she is working for YSRC.
And within no time, the social media is abuzz with speculation that Renu Desai is joining YSRC soon and would campaign for the party in the coming elections, if not contesting the elections as an MLA or an MP.
“May be, YSRC is roping Renu Desai into the campaigning to neutralize the impact of Pawan Kalyan. Since Jagan has raised the issue of Pawan’s use-and-throw of women in his life, Renu might stand as an example of this issue in the elections,” an analyst said.
