Telangana Assembly Set For Dissolution
It will be curtains on the suspense over dissolution of the Telangana state assembly on Thursday afternoon.
The Telangana state cabinet is scheduled to meet under the leadership of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at around 1 pm and will pass a one-line resolution seeking dissolution of the assembly.
All the cabinet colleagues have been asked to come to Pragati Bhavan, the camp office of the chief minister, by noon.
The cabinet meeting it is expected to commence between 1 pm and 1.30 pm. There is no other official agenda except passing the one-line resolution on dissolving the state assembly.
Soon after the cabinet meeting, KCR and his cabinet colleagues will meet Governor E S L Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan to submit the copy of the cabinet resolution on dissolution of the state assembly.
Later, KCR will go to Telangana Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park in front of the state assembly to pay tributes to the martyrs and from there, he will go to Telangana Bhavan at Banjara Hills to address a press conference at 2 pm.
He will explain the reasons for his decision to dissolve the assembly and go for early elections in the state.
In the evening, the TRS chief will address a meeting of the outgoing MLAs and other functionaries at the Telangana Bhavan to make them gear up for the early elections.
Will DS Quit RS, Before Joining Cong?
With the election atmosphere building up in the Telangana state, it is more or less certain that veteran leader and Telangana Rashtra Samithi MP D Srinivas will come out of the party to decide his future course of action.
Since TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has not been taking any decision on the complaint made against him by Nizamabad MP K Kavitha and other TRS leaders from the district, DS felt he has no place in the party anymore.
Though he announced that he will not resign from the party on his own, he has no option but to do so because the state assembly is all set to be dissolved and it is going to early elections.
If he does not take any decision now, he will be lost out in the race. That is why, he wrote a letter to KCR on Tuesday asking the latter to suspend him.
Reports say DS has already got clearance from the Congress party high command for making a re-entry into the party.
In all probability, DS will re-join the Congress in the presence of the party chief Rahul Gandhi along with MLC Bhupati Reddy on September 12 or 13.
But the question is whether DS will continue in the Rajya Sabha seat to which he was nominated by the TRS president.
Sources close to him said DS wants to quit the Rajya Sabha seat and contest the state assembly elections on the Congress ticket from Nizamabad rural constituency.
By resigning from the RS seat, he also wants to show that he is a man of integrity.
However, it is learnt the state Congress leadership wants him to continue in the RS seat because it has become a practice now for all the political parties.
“When the Congress MLAs and MP who defected to the TRS can retain their posts, what’s wrong in DS retaining his Rajya Sabha seat? He still has four years to complete his term. He can happily continue as an MP, leaving the assembly seat to his son or his followers,” a Telangana Congress leader said.
A Game-Changer In Telugu Cinema?
Although it has a funky title guaranteed to draw one’s attention, C/O Kancharapalem started receiving major publicity once it as announced that Suresh Babu Daggubati was releasing the film.
Incidentally, it is the first Indian film to be screened at the New York Film Festival. Debutant director Venkatesh Maha shot the film entirely in Kancharapalem area of Vizag and the local populace has acted the lead actors.
Apparently, at every screening organised for celebrities of T-town, the film received a standing ovation. But here’s the thing! Suresh Babu has reportedly picked up the rights to the entire movie for a mere Rs 55 lakh! That’s right, Rs 55 lakh!
Maybe, the makers get a cut in profits too. Anyway, they have no cause for complaint as Suresh Babu will give it a much wider release than would have been possible if they had released the film on their own.
Too Many Contenders For Two Cabinet Berths!
Ever since Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced that he would expand his cabinet soon, he has been flooded with requests for several aspirants asking him to consider their names.
Reports from Amaravati said the aspirants are coming in tens to meet Naidu and submit their applications for the cabinet post.
Even those who defected from the YSR Congress party like Kidari Sarweswara Rao, Giddi Eswari and Vantala Rajeswari have thrown their hats into the ring.
Especially, women MLAs are hopeful to get a berth following reports that Naidu might consider a woman minister.
However, one of the two berths will definitely go to Muslims, as announced by Naidu at the public meeting of Muslims the other day at Guntur.
The name of Mohammad Shariff is said to have been finalised, but other Muslim MLAs like Chand Basha are also hopeful.
Naidu would fill up the vacancies arising out of the resignation of two BJP ministers – Paidikondala Manikyala Rao and Kamineni Srinivas.
While one berth is reserved for a Muslim MLA, there is a talk that Naidu should consider an ST MLA for the second berth.
The TDP has only one tribal MLA who had won on its ticket. He is Mudiyam Srinivasa Rao of Polavaram. If he is not considered, Naidu might prefer a woman candidate, sources said.
TDP-Cong Strike Deal In Telangana?
It was only on Tuesday that Telugu Desam Party general secretary and Andhra Pradesh IT minister Nara Lokesh denied the reports of a possible alliance between the TDP and the Congress party in Telangana in the ensuing assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
He even announced that the TDP was still strong enough to win considerable seats in Telangana and that it would contest in all the 119 assembly seats.
However, reliable sources revealed that both the TDP and the Congress had come to a formal understanding to have an alliance in the coming elections in Telangana.
According to these sources, the Congress has agreed to earmark 14 assembly seats and two MP seats in the state. This is to ensure that the opposition vote would not split so that it could defeat the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Some of the seats where the TDP is likely to contest are: Kukatpally, Sherilingampalli, Jubilee Hills, Malkajgiri, Wanaparthi, Atmakur, Narayanpet, Jagityal, Parkal, Sattupalli and others, where the TDP still has strong cadres.
With regards to Lok Sabha seats, the TDP might ask for Malkajgiri and Mahbubabad.
“There could be some last minute adjustments depending on the demands and protests from the Congress ticket aspirants,” sources said.

MAA Controversy : Will Mahesh Back Out Of Event?
As a major controversy unfolded in the Movie Artistes Association (MAA) with president Sivaji Raja and secretary Naresh locking horns and the MAA divided into two groups, gloom surrounded Mahesh Babu’s fundraising event.
While Naresh & Co are demanding that next event marking the silver jubilee celebrations of the MAA should be put on hold until the controversy ends and clarity emerges, Sivaji, Srikanth, Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao and others are maintaining that the event with Mahesh is very much on and the same organizers who had conducted the Dallas event would do this as well.
This has turned into a bone of contention between both the parties. Naresh, Gautam Raju and others are demanding that an inquiry into Dallas event would be conducted in a fair manner and should constitute a Facts Finding Committee with retired IAS, IPS officers and stating that the same event organizers shouldn’t be repeated since allegations arose.
Naresh has stated that it was him who had connected Namrata, Mahesh and convinced the latter for the MAA event. Naresh, however, stated that Sivaji Raja’s team has directly contacted Mahesh and sidelined him which he said is raising suspicion.
These statements are now raising doubts whether Mahesh would be attending the MAA event in the wake of controversies and allegations. Since Mahesh is non-controversial and avoids unwanted controversies, this MAA controversy is said to be pulling him unnecessarily.
Now, speculations in film circuits are rife that Mahesh may even drop out of the MAA event if the controversy persists and both parties doesn’t come to a logical conclusion. Now that bigwigs such as Chiranjeevi are involved, one has to wait and see, what would be the outcome.
Magadheera creating sensation in Japan
After the global success of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali, which discovered new markets for Indian films, the director’s another big film ‘Magadheera’ has now been released in Japan.
Most of the Indian blockbusters got a wide release in Japan and Rajinikanth’s ‘Muthu’, that released 21 years ago, is still the highest grosser there and that film yielded immense popularity and craze for Indian Superstar Rajinikanth in Japan. Muthu has minted $1.6 Million while SS Rajamouli’s latest magnum opus Baahubali ended up its run by garnering $1.2 Million at Japan box office.
Now, Ram Charan’s Magadheera which was released on 30th August has opened to a solid box-office start and the first weekend figures are close to $1 million. With the kind of run it’s enjoying there, the trade analysts expect it to collect more than Baahubali and the coming days will if it has potential to break the record of Rajinikanth’s ‘Muthu’ as well.
