Talk: When Heroes Poured Own Money.

Share

Sometimes, heroes get into a thinking that they should really invest in films rather than just taking remuneration from a producer and working on projects. And most of the times, their investments as duds, especially in the Telugu film industry.

Earlier the likes of Megastar Chiru and Mahesh have taken a part of remuneration in the form of movie rights of certain areas and added their own production house name to the title cards. There came these young heroes now, who are however producing films with their investment.

From Kalyan Ram to Vishal to Sudheer Babu, there are many heroes who invested into their own movies. And recently the likes of Nani, Sharwanand and Sandeep Kishan also joined this list, by contributing financially to their own projects. The good thing is that, when heroes themselves pour money, many spending will come down. Of course, the major spending in a movie is the remuneration of the hero itself.

On the flip side, whenever these heroes are coming up with their own ventures, they are turning up to be as profitable as they could be. Maybe by worrying more about investments, are these heroes forgetting to cross-check story of the film?

Send Beef Biryani to Amit Shah: Owaisi Requests KCR

Share

Taking a dig at the BJP, AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi criticised BJP National President Amit Shah for his remarks on Telangana’s caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao alleging that he is sending Biryani to Muslims as an appeasement tactic ahead of polls in the state.

Coming down heavily on Amit Shah for a religious jibe, Owaisi said: “I did not know that Amit Shah likes Biryani. I will request KCR saab to send some Kalyani (a colloquial word for Beef) Biryani to Amit Shah. Why is he crying on someone who is eating? We can send him a parcel so that he can eat it too.”

These comments come at a time when all parties are trying their best to woo voters 10 days before the state goes to polls. It is a well-known fact that BJP has been actively propagating beef ban messages across the country and Owaisi took a dig, hitting out at BJP’s sentiments. Owaisi also added that Modi had visited Pakistan to attend former PM Nawaz Sharif’s daughter’s wedding. “You shook hands with Nawaz Sharif. You ate there. Don’t know what he fed you there,” he added.

These comments may not go down well with the BJP and its supporters. While this could be another controversy in the making, politicians are going all out to show their rivals in bad light. The race for Telangana elections has just gotten more interesting!

India is not your father’s ‘jagir’, KCR tells PM

Share

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Wednesday told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that India is not his grandfather or father’s ‘jagir’ (estate).

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief made a scathing attack on Modi at an election rally in Sangareddy.

“Is India your grandfather and father’s estate (jagir)? This is democracy. How many days will you be in power?” KCR asked in his inimitable style in Telugu.

The TRS leader was criticizing Modi for not allowing the state to increase reservation for tribals and Muslims.

KCR said as the population of tribals and Muslims had gone up in Telangana, resolutions were passed in the Assembly and cabinet to increase their quota.

“I not only went to Delhi to hand over these resolutions but wrote 30 letters to the Centre. The Ministers also went to Delhi to meet Modi and make a request. Now they are saying they will neither do it nor allow others to do it,” said KCR, referring to recent statement of BJP President Amit Shah.

The TRS chief said Telangana can get justice only if a non-BJP, non-Congress Federal Front comes to power at the Centre.

IPL 12 auction might see omission of a few star players

Share

Accordingly the auction might see the omission of a few star players who have been playing the T20 matches for quite a few years and which might also put an end to their IPL careers. Meanwhile various IPL franchises have already named their lists (retention and releases) earlier this month on November 15 where some tough decisions were taken to exclude big names for the next edition.

Meanwhile the list includes India’s star batsmen Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir, who might not make it to the 12th IPL edition. As per report firstly Yuvraj Singh who was already dropped from Kings XI Punjab’s last league match in the previous IPL, has played only seven List A matches. Reports added Yuvraj Singh is all set to play his first Ranji Trophy game as he has joined his home team Punjab team ahead of its tie against Nitish Rana led Delhi at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi.

Secondly Gautam Gambhir if there is a chance for inclusion of Gambhir, then it could only be for his highest score of 518 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and thirdly Mohammed Shami the 28 year old who played his last T20 in July 2017, hasn’t been seen in any matches since April 2018. Moreover with the national elections to be held in the country next year, the dates of IPL 12 are yet to be finalized. Rumors are that the IPL may be held outside India with South Africa most likely to be selected as the venue.

Fact Sheet: A Damning Indictment!

Share

This being election time, allegations and counter-allegations are the norm but what happens when a complaint against the current state of affairs is made by a common man or someone who is apolitical?

Nag Ashwin, director of Mahanati was shattered when his friend Rakesh Erukulla who worked as cameraman for Yevade Subrahmanyam passed away from injuries sustained in a road accident.

Apparently, Rakesh was rushed to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad and it being a Sunday, there were no doctors to attend on him for three hours.

Nag Ashwin posted the whole thing on Twitter and questioned KTR.

“my friend died in gandhi hospital on sunday. he was alive for 3 hours after they brought him from the accident. as it was sunday there was no proper care, the parents had to push the stretcher around themselves. at any other hospital 3 hours would have saved him.

my sister worked at gandhi and she says she can imagine.. on a sunday night…why didn’t they shift him somewhere else…i don’t know…they were in panic..but really..in the capital of a state, why can’t we count on a government hospital to rush to save a life. sunday or any day.

what can we do @KTRTRS sir to make sure that the word ‘government hospital’ need not be synonymous with carelessness and death. my friend was easily one of the best cameramen we have in the state. i don’t know whom else to ask sir. nobody should die needlessly,” posted Nag Ashwin on Twitter.

Since KTR is busy with campaigning, he hasn’t responded as yet to Nag Ashwin’s post who put up another tweet today saying, “before trs there was congress and before that tdp..same situation. not everything is about politics or elections!!its about how we are ok with govt hospital deaths. i asked ktr garu because he has the power to make change and is the only politician i know who reacts and responds.”

As far as Nag Ashiwn is concerned, it is the genuine anguish of a person who has lost a dear friend, but the public will see it as a damning indictment of the government which time and again resorts to emotional blackmail in the name of Telangana and claims to have ushered in unbelievable development.

NTR’s Granddaughter Banks On Lineage

Share

Hyderabad: TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao’s granddaughter N. Venkata Suhasini, who is contesting the Telangana Assembly election from Kukatpally constituency in Greater Hyderabad, is banking on her lineage.

The presence of Suhasini in the electoral fray in Telangana is significant as the top leadership of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) moved to Andhra Pradesh following the bifurcation of the undivided state.

TDP has fielded Suhasini, daughter of former Minister N. Harikrishna, who died in a road accident this year.

Suhasini, 43, is a social activist and is banking on her lineage to win the election from this prestigious constituency, which has considerable a number of voters with their roots in Andhra Pradesh.

However, the family of the late actor-turned-politician NTR stands divided in the campaigning.

Suhasini’s aunt and Union Minister N. Purandeswari hit the campaign trail in Kukatpally not for her niece but for M. Kantha Rao, the candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Purandeswari, daughter of NTR, was a Minister in the UPA government but she quit the Congress party and joined the BJP after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

The TDP, which is part of opposition grand alliance led by the Congress, is contesting 13 seats in the December 7 election to the 119-member Telangana Assembly.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu is expected to campaign for Suhasini. Naidu is the son-in-law of NTR.

Paritala Sunita, a Minister in Naidu’s cabinet, was in the constituency to conduct road shows in support of Suhasini.

NTR’s actor son and TDP legislator N. Balakrishna has already announced that he will campaign for his niece. Suhasini’s brothers and popular actors Junior NTR and Kalyan Ram are also likely to address meetings in her support.

Suhasini’s cousin Taraka Ratna, also an actor, is campaigning for her.

Telangana’s ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has fielded M. Krishna Rao, who won the 2014 elections from here on TDP ticket but later joined the ruling party. Interestingly, Krishna Rao’s brother Kantha Rao is the BJP candidate.

Kukatpally is like a mini-India with people belonging to various states and communities settled here. About 60 percent of the people have their roots in Andhra Pradesh.

The YSR Congress Party, which is the main opposition party in Andhra Pradesh, is not contesting the polls in Telangana. However, the party has declared its support to the TRS in Kukatpally.

As TDP is contesting the election in alliance with the Congress, the former hopes that the transfer of Congress votes will brighten Suhasini’s prospects.

In 2014, the TDP had bagged the seat with a margin of nearly over 43,000 votes. However, the equations have changed in the constituency with the deletion of 1.31 lakh voters after verification by the election authorities. The constituency now has 3.30 lakh voters.

‘TRS ‘B-team’ of RSS, helping BJP to derail Congress’

Share

Kodangal (Telangana): Calling the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) the “B-team” of Sangh Pariwar, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused it of helping the Modi government to prevent the Congress from ousting the BJP at the Centre.

Gandhi accused the Telangana government led by K. Chandrashekar Rao of failing to keep its promises and appealed to the people to vote for the Congress, claiming that only his party can ensure development in the state.

“When we were fighting over land acquisition bill in Parliament, TRS was helping BJP. TRS helped RSS and Modi in every bill. TRS is not Telangana Rashtra Samithi, it is Telangana Rashtra Sanghpariwar. It is the ‘B-team’ of Sangh Pariwar. TRS’ aim is that Congress should not oust the BJP at the national level,” Gandhi told a public rally organised by the four-party People’s Front led by Congress.

He said whatever Prime Minister Narendra Modi did against Dalits, tribals and minorities in the country, it would not have been possible without the support of KCR.

Gandhi said that when Telangana state was formed, it had Rs 17,000 crore surplus budget but in four years TRS had put a burden of Rs 2 lakh crore debt on the state.

“Every family in the state has a debt of Rs 2 lakh and every citizen has a debt of 60,000 but in these four years KCR’s income has gone up by 400 percent.”

Gandhi accused the KCR-led government of giving employment to his family members while failing to give jobs to crore of unemployed youths.

“How many people got employment in the last four years of KCR? He only gave employment to four people of his family who snatched the employment of four crore people in the state. What did he do for the women who are the backbone of the state?”

He said that after coming to power in the state, the People’s Front will provide a grant of Rs 1 lakh to every women self-help group. Women entrepreneurs will be provided Rs 500 crore bank loans, he added.

“KCR promised to provide 22 lakh double bedroom houses. But the reality is only 5,000 houses have been built. He promised land to SC/ST which has turned out to be a hollow promise.”

If the Congress came to power, Gandhi said people would get land and houses. “Our Chief Minister will give youths employment or Rs 3,000 allowance. In the first year, our government will give employment to 1 lakh youths in private and government sectors.”

Gandhi assured people free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh and said a 30-bed hospital would be set up in each “Mandal”. The state is set for Assembly polls on December 7.

He alleged that the projects started by Congress were redesigned by KCR. He cited the example of Pranahita Chevella project, whose name was changed to Kaleswaram and its cost revised from Rs 50,000 crore to Rs 90,000 crore.

Gandhi said the People’s Front government would fulfill the dream of ‘water, funds and jobs’ which people of Telangana had desired at the time of formation of the state.

The Congress President said they would defeat KCR in Telangana and Modi in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. He exuded confidence that the BJP will be defeated in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh too.
