Modi Is Threatening Us: Manmohan’s Strong Letter To President
Known as most silent and dignified Prime Minister, ex PM Manmohan Singh has written a letter to President against Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing him of abusing power and using threatening language against Opposition leaders, party workers. Manmohan along with other senior leaders of Congress have signed the letter addressed to the President Ramnath Kovind.
Manmohan Singh stated that Modi’s words are threatening and it undermines democratic values. The prime minister, letter stated, is not expected to use menacing language even in the course of an election campaign. This is tantamount to a prime minister using his powers and privileges to “settle personal and political scores”, the letter said.
Referring to the oath of office, it said the prime minister of India holds a very special position under the Constitution. The Congress leaders said all prime ministers of India in the past have maintained immense dignity and decorum in the discharge of public or private functions/actions.
“The threat held out by the Prime Minister to the INC’s leadership deserves to be condemned. This cannot be the language of the Prime Minister of a constitutionally governed democratic country of 1.3 Billion people. Such discourse whether in public or private is unacceptable conduct. The words used are menacing and intimidating with intent to insult and provoke breach of the peace,” the letter said.
“The President may caution the Prime Minister from using such unwarranted, threatening and intimidating language against leaders of the Congress Party or any other party or person as it does not behove the position of the Prime Minister,” it added.
The YouTube link of Modi’s speech in Hubli during during his election campaign in Karnataka has been given in the letter. Addressing the masses on the 6th of May in Hubli, Narendra Modi said, “Congress leaders should clearly hear out, if you cross limits, then this is Modi and you will have to pay a price.” (‘Congress ke neta kaan kholkar sun lijiye, agar seemaon ko paar karoge, to yeh Modi hai, lene ke dene pad jayenge’). Modi in his speech also mentioned that Congress President and Smt. Sonia Gandhi Ji must answer people why they are out on ‘Zamaanat’.
The letter has also been signed by senior leaders AK Antony, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ahmed Patel, P Chidambaram, Ashok Gehlot, Mallikarjun Kharge, Karan Singh, Ambika Soni, Kamal Nath, Anand Sharma, Motilal Vora, Digvijay Singh and Mukul Wasnik.
The Five charges made against Modi by Manmohan as follow:
1. Use of threatening words
2. Unacceptable conduct
3. Intimidating Congress workers
4. Public warnings issued to Congress
5. Provoking breach of peace.
Wife’s Suicide: Shashi Tharoor Charged With Abetment
Former Union Minister in Manmohan Singh’s cabinet and sitting MP Shashi Tharoor is back in the news for wrong reasons. Shashi Tharoor has been charged with abetment in the suicide of his wife Sunanda Pushkar in 2014 at a star hotel in Delhi. Mr Tharoor is the only accused in Sunanda’s mysterious death.
The charge-sheet was filed under sections 498 A (husband or his relative subjecting a woman to cruelty) and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code. In 3000 page long charge-sheet filed before before Metropolitan Magistrate Dharmender Singh, Delhi police alleged that Shashi Tharoor had treated his wife to cruelty. The charge-sheet has been filed more than 4 years after Sunanda died.
Sunanda’s death was sensational since she died just days after she involved in a verbal war with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar on Twitter over Mehr’s alleged closeness with her husband Shashi Tharoor. Sunanda was found dead in a posh hotel room in Delhi on Jan 17, 2014. Initial probe indicated that Sunanda died due to drug overdose and a strip of the sleeping pills were found in her hotel room.
However, things have changed after Congress was dethroned in 2014 general elections while its rival Narendra Modi-led BJP stormed to power.
Tharoor, who is known as a good orator, public speaker and writer, strongly responded to the chargesheet, that was framed after 4-long years after his wife’s death.
Shashi Tharoor wrote on his micro-blogging page, “I have taken note of the filing of this preposterous charge sheet & intend to contest it vigorously. No one who knew Sunanda believes she would ever have committed suicide, let alone abetment on my part. If this is conclusion arrived at after 4+ yrs of investigation, it does not speak well of the methods or motivations of the Delhi Police. In oct 17, the Law Officer made a statement in the Delhi High Court that they have not found anything against anyone & now in 6 months they say that I have abetted a suicide. unbelievable!”
Pic Talk: Eye Infection Troubling Pawan Kalyan
Some time ago at Rangasthalam success meet, Pawan Kalyan himself revealed that he’s suffering from an issue related to eyes hence he is wearing spectacles even during the night. He confirmed that they are not his style statement.
It looks like the Janasena president is getting bothered by the eye infection even after weeks. Other day when he turned up at Nela Ticket audio launch, he’s seen wearing the same glasses. But when he occasionally removed them, one could notice that his left eye got some more infection to be cured.
They say that it is a regular eye-infection (maybe conjunctivitis) if we have to go by his swollen upper eye-lid with little lumps and that little redness in the eye. These days Pawan is travelling a lot and following no proper sleeping pattern. Recently he has returned from Australia after a week-long family trip. It seems like all these pressures are causing his eyes to get irritated.
Anyway, with Pawan eyeing on 2019 elections and a long road in-between, he should first take care of health. Hope he recovers well soon.

Allu Hero Dazzles On Cannes Red Carpet
The 71st annual Cannes Film Festival is already getting huge attention in India, thanks to the startling cleavage shows of Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut who are competing strongly with each other to get their deep neck dresses much deeper each day.
And now, the festival has got the attention of Telugu film lovers as well, with the arrival of Allu Sirish at the red carpet. For reasons not yet known, now this young Allu hero turned up at the festival giving rise to doubts if he has come up with any film secretly that is being showcased there. Many Bollywood makers generally make movies and show it at Cannes first and then release it.
Nope, Allu Sirish has no such film in his kitty now. He’s said to be catching up with some interesting films at the event, mainly watching some Asian movies. We hear that he attended the premiere of the Chinese film ‘Ash is the Purest White’ (Jiang Hu Er Nv) at the #Cannes2018.
One might look at it this way: Maybe Sirish is trying to find inspiration or a story for his next movie, which is yet to start. Or he’s observing things as a producer’s son such that next year he will exhibit his own product.
New US Visa Rule : Indian Students To Be Affected
The United States government has further tightened the visa rule pertaining to foreign students. The Trump administration issued a draft policy that makes the calculation of the visa overstay by foreign students more strict. Simply put, the new rule will result in more days being counted as unlawful presence. This new policy will come into effect from August 9.
For example, students on an F-1 visa, after completion of their study, are allowed to stay for a grace period of 60 days to change their student visa status to a work visa or else they should leave the US.
Under present rule, the clock to calculate the number of days of unlawful presence begins ticking only from the day authorities discover the violation or an immigration judge passes an order, such as for deportation.
Whereas, under the new policy, unlawful presence – stay beyond a student’s visa tenure – will be calculated from the day the student fails to maintain ‘immigration status’.
As per the draft policy memorandum, the immigration status is considered not maintained from the day students stop pursuing their course of study or engage in unauthorised activity or complete their programme and complete their authorised grace period.
The latest publicly available data (Homeland Security report for fiscal 2016) shows that 4,575 of the 98,970 students from India scheduled to leave the US or change their status had violated norms and overstayed.
After the Chinese, Indians are the largest group of foreign students in the US. International Student Data from the Open Doors Report (2017) shows that there are 1.86 lakh students in the US. So, the new visa policy may have a great impact on the Indian students studying in the US.

Akhil’s Hello received a rare world honour!
Akkineni young scion Akhil’s Hello may have failed to set the cash registers ringing at the box office, but the film has received a rare world honour. Hello has been nominated at the 17th Taurus World Stunt Awards 2018. The festival began on May 12 in Los Angeles.
Hello has been nominated in the Best Action in a Foreign Film category. The film will be vying for the top honour along with other nominees from Argentina/Spain, Russia, China and Germany. The final results will be announced on May 18.
Hello had some stunning action sequences and free running stunts choreographed by Hollywood stunt coordinator Bob Brown. Bob had earlier worked on Hollywood biggies like xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
Two Absolute References Behind ‘Mahanati’ Story
Even the likes of Megastar Chiranjeevi are stunned the way director Nag Ashwini has carved a storyline to depict “Mahanati” on the silver screen in the much adorable way. But there seems to be a stunning reference that helped the director big time. Here goes an interesting find by our team.
Apparently, the base for Savitri’s scenes related to her film journey is taken from one particular reference and her personal life from another reference. The base for her film scenes including that of her uncle rejecting the idea of sending her to dance, the way she’s out of ANR’s movie (her debut film), how she imitated SV Ranga Rao with a ‘gadha’ on her shoulder and how she ended up singing a song for Ghantasala are revealed by none other than Savitri only.
Yes, her radio interview given to “All India Radio” Bezawada station is the literal reference for those scenes. If you could listen to that interview on YouTube, you could notice that all the incidents she mentioned have turned into scenes.
And the tragic side of her life, especially her personal life, including that of doing unwanted charity, getting addicted to alcohol after Gemini Ganesan made her drink, and the way IT raids took place, all these stuff are chronologically taken from a sensational article published about the actress in early 80s. The reference image of that article is freely available on the internet too.
After going through these two references, one would feel that Nag Ashwin got most of the original inspiration from these two only. But anyway, he crafted a terrific film in the end.
