YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday accused Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu of being a king of corruption involved in huge irregularities in the administration.

Addressing a rally at Mylavaram, Jagan said Naidu had been heading a government soaked with deep corruption, he said that the king and his ministers were deeply involved in irregularities.

“The king and his ministers have a single point agenda of looting public money and they have left no stone unturned and left no avenue without exploiting it to the hilt,” he alleged.

The YSRC chief pointed out that the Naidu government had issued GOs to benefit a few favoured few contractors while the welfare schemes were done away with or punctured.

On either side of the Kirshna River bed sand mafia has been thriving while farmers were left in the lurch and not a single crop has got MSP so far.

“The Chief Minister has been staying in house which was constructed illegally and has been governing the state from such an edifice. He has become a middleman by buying farm produce at cheap rates and selling them in retail at exorbitant rates making profit for his family run Heritage Foods,” he said.

For the past four years, people had seen how Naidu and his ministers, more so the one from Krishna district, were actively involved in sharing the spoils. All his poll promises did not see light of the day.

“He had gone back on all the poll promises and now he will come back promising moon. Use your discretion while giving the mandate,” he said adding that such a corrupt chief minister should be taught a lesson.

Sandeep Thottapilly (41), his daughter Saachi (9) and son Siddhant (12) were recovered from the Eel River in Leggett, California. Body of Sandeep’s wife Soumya (38) was recovered last week.

Nearly 70 searchers were frantically diving into the river waters to retrieve the bodies ever since the maroon Honda Pilot SUV in which the Thottapillys were traveling in plunged into the river on April 6. The Thottapillys were on a road trip to Oregon and were returning to their home in California, when the tragedy struck.

A missing case was reported on April 8 after the family failed to show up for a visit at their relatives place in San Jose. Last week, personal items belonging to the family were found in the Eel River. Relatives of the Thottapilly family identified the items as belongings of their family members. The California Highway Patrol ruled out any foul play in the incident.

Sandeep’s family hails from Surat, Gujarat. He was brought up in Gujarat until he left for America 15 years ago. His parents have been informed about the tragedy. Soumya’s parents live in Kochi, Kerala.

Decks cleared for the appointment of firebrand Bharatiya Janata Party leader and MLC Somu Veerraju as the president of party’s Andhra Pradesh unit, with the resignation of ambhampati Hari Babu finally resigning from his post.

The Visakhapatnam MP supposedly sent his resignation to BJP national president Amit Shah on the directions of the latter, who is now planning to revamp the Andhra BJP to take on the Telugu Desam Party.

Though Hari Babu’s resignation has been on cards for quite some time, his resignation has come as surprise to many as they thought he would gracefully give way to his successor.

However, the way he was asked to resign led to the speculations that the party leadership might have suspected his loyalty to the party and his friendly approach towards the TDP.

“It is just a technical issue. His term is almost over. Hence, the high command might have asked him to resign to revamp the party,” BJP floor leader in the assembly P Vishnu Kumar Raju said.

In all probability, Somu Veerraju is likely to succeed Hari Babu as state BJP president, as senior leader P Manikyala Rao opted out of the race.

Veerraju is an obvious choice as he can take on the TDP with more fire power. Unless the party leadership has other ideas, Veerraju will don the mantle of the AP BJP chief shortly.

Hyderabad: In a setback to the Telangana government, the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday revoked the disqualification of two legislators of opposition Congress from the state Assembly.

Justice B. Siva Sankara Rao set aside the expulsion of Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and S.A. Sampath Kumar and directed that their membership be restored.The court observed that if they have done anything wrong, the government may take disciplinary action but removing them from the House was not proper.

The two legislators were disqualified from the Telangana Assembly last month after they tried to disrupt the Governor’s address on the first day of the Budget Session on March 12.Amid the ruckus, the Congress members allegedly threw headphones, injuring Council Chairman K. Swami Goud in his eye. The legislators denied the allegations.

The next day, the Assembly passed a resolution expelling the two Congress members.The Congress legislators had challenged their disqualification and also a gazette notification issued by the Legislature Secretary notifying vacancy for Nalgonda and Alampur (SC) Assembly constituencies, which they were representing.

Earlier, in its interim order, the court had directed the Election Commission not to issue poll schedule for by-elections in their constituencies for six months.

The Congress leaders, in their petition, argued that that they were not given any notice or opportunity to explain the alleged obstruction or interruption or undignified behaviour at the time of Governor’s address, but they were singled out as Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had a personal vendetta against them.

Reacting to the court verdict, Venkat Reddy said justice has prevailed and the Chief Minister “fell in his own trap”. The former minister said despite all its conspiracies, the TRS could not harm him.

State Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy said the court judgment was a “slap on the face of the TRS government”, adding at least now the government should mend its ways and function in a democratic fashion.

Nellore’s Reddy brothers – Anam Ramanarayan Reddy and Anam Vivekananda Reddy – are very familiar in Nellore districts politics and state’s politics. While Viveka was longtime MLA in Nellore under Rajasekhar Reddy’s regime, Ramanarayan Reddy evens served as Finance Minister in YSR’s cabinet.

After losing deposits in 2014 elections on Congress, Anam brothers have switched their loyalties to TDP. However, Anam brothers are not said to be happy in the TDP. Upset Anam Ramanarayan Reddy is likely to jump to YSRCP very soon.

Anam Vivekananda Reddy’s health is in critical state and he is being treated in a private hospital in Hyderabad. TDP chief and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has personally visited Anam Viveka in the hospital. Although it is informed to Anam Ramanarayan Reddy that Chandrababu would be visiting the hospital, Ramanarayan Redy wasn’t there around when Naidu came to hospital.

Inside information is that Anam Ramanarayan Reddy is planning to join YSRCP and the stage is already set. Ramnarayan Reddy will be meeting YS Jagan very soon during his Krishna district Padayatra. After the meet, Ramanarayan Reddy will be joining YSRCP. Apparently, Anam Ramanarayan Reddy has been promised with Atmakur ticket by YSR Congress Party. This is also one of the reasons for Ramanarayan Reddy to take Jagan’s side.
