Sunil’s Remuneration as Comedian
Sunil is arguably one of the best comedians in Telugu cinema and he has not really entertained us with his peculiar style comedy in last eight years. That is from the time he started acting as lead and had to pull off the whole movie on his own. His bad choices of stories distanced him from the audience and now he is coming back to his old himself.Sunil has been saying in many recent interviews that he never wanted to give up comedian roles in other heroes’ films and keeping his word, Sunil appeared in Trivikram NTR’s Aravinda Sametha teaser.
An exclusive bit of information is that Sunil is not charging as a package like he did when he was a hero, but is heard to be charging huge 3.5 lakh rupees for a day of the shoot as a comedian. Most happening comedians usually charge like this as they will be busy with their roles in multiple simultaneous films. Sunil as a hero lost his market and might not have earned much with his recent failures.
This glimpse of him in teaser cheered all the fun-loving audience and being it Trivikram’s film, all are expecting some hilarious one-liners from him. If Sunil gets back on track as the comedian and if he manages to stand the tough competition from Vennela Kishore, we can see more of his comedy in near future.
Naidu frustrated with World Bank?
During his earlier stints as the chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister was the most favourite political leader of the World Bank.It extended huge loans to the state for power sector reforms, irrigation, AP Reconstruction Project etc.World Bank chairman also visited Andhra Pradesh and appreciated Naidu’s administrative capabilities. In fact, at one stage, the opposition accused Naidu of being a stooge of the World Bank.
But now, as the chief minister of residuary Andhra Pradesh, Naidu has fallen down in the eyes of the World Bank. His application for Rs 4,700 crore loan for the construction of the state capital Amaravati is still pending with the bank, as the latter received several complaints from the farmers about large scale irregularities in the land pooling system and other project works.
Naidu thought the Centre would come to its rescue in the form of funding for Externally Aided Projects as per the special financial package, but with the special category status demand coming to the fore, the Centre, too, stopped supporting his demand.
The latest news is that the World Bank, which almost finalised the loan sanction, has suddenly deferred it by another nine months on the pretext of conducting another investigation. It would examine the feasibility of the project before taking a decision on extending loan.It would mean Naidu would not get the loan before the next elections and the existing works which were launched with a hope on the World Bank would come to a halt. This has frustrated Naidu.
Sources said he is now contemplating cancelling the World Bank loan entirely and explore the other options.“In any case, not many countries and states are preferring World Bank loans these days. We cannot continue to wait for the loan. It is better we go in for other financial institutions,” a senior Andhra official, quoting Naidu, said.
KCR’s early poll talk only to mislead Cong?
The ongoing talk doing rounds in the media circles over the conduct of early assembly elections in Telangana is being taken with a pinch of salt by sceptics who are wondering whether this talk is just a part of the strategy on the part of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to mislead the opposition Congress party and fooling the people.
According these sceptics, KCR actually has no plans to dissolve the assembly and go in for early elections but floating the idea of early polls, he wants to send a message to the leaders of the opposition parties that they should hurry up to join the TRS.
“His main idea is to convey to the opposition party leaders, particularly the Congress leaders, that there is very little time left for the elections and it is time for them to decide on joining the Congress party and whoever comes first would get the party ticket. His announcement that he would declared the candidates’ list in September should also be viewed in that angle,” a political observer said.
At the emergency cabinet meeting, KCR reportedly took the suggestions of the ministers on early polls without disclosing his mind.“Nobody can guess what is in his mind and what is in store for us in future,” a party leader said.KCR, however, has decided to go ahead with the conduct of massive public meeting in the name of “Pragathi Nivedana” (Presentation of Progress Report) at Kongara Kalan on the outskirts of Hyderabad as scheduled at 4 pm on September 2.
He reportedly directed all the party leaders to make arrangements for the success of the meeting. He called for an executive committee meeting of the TRS at Telangana Bhavan on Friday to finalise the details of the public meeting, party sources said.
Vijay Deverakonda Enters 40 Cr Club
It has finally happened. As expected, “Geetha Govindam” has crossed the share of Rs 40 Cr.The film that took Rs 38 Cr in its first week has raked in nearly Rs 3 Cr share on Bakrid festival (holiday). So, the film has joined Rs 40 Cr club in just eight days.
This is phenomenal record for a young star like Vijay Deverakonda. No young star did achieve such massive amount in just eight days. This is fourth fastest movie to get such amount this year.Among mid-range and young heroes, only few stars have Rs 40 Cr (Share movies).
Even Nani who has impeccable track record of hits didn’t join 40 Cr club barring Rajamouli’s “Eega” (this film is more of Rajamouli’s movie than Nani’s movie). “Geetha Govindam” will certainly cross Rs 50 Cr mark in its full run.Vijay Deverakonda has raised his stardom multifold with this movie. How he will plan his career from hereafter remains to be seen.
Speculations over Balakrishna’s International Studio
Ever since TDP formed government in Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation, speculations over film studios to be set up by film personalities have been doing rounds. However, no big producer came forward to establish a studio in AP as the current regime wanted everyone to establish production facilities in and around Amaravathi, where there is no infrastructure at all. Film producers are okay with Vizag, but not Amaravathi.
However, as the elections are nearing, Chandrababu Naidu now wants some activity to happen in Vizag at least to showcase his ‘achievements’.The latest statement from Ambika Krishna, chairperson of Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation, should be seen in this angle. He has announced many sops to Tollywood filmmakers to establish studios and production houses in AP.
He also gave enough hints that Nandamuri Balakrishna will be establishing a sprawling studio with international facilities in proposed studio lands near Rishikonda in Vizag.Balakrishna earlier did a similar stunt with Eros when they came up with the proposal of setting up Media City in Amaravathi. This turned out to be a mere publicity stunt and no further progress was made.
However, Balakrishna may take lands from the government, which incidentally, he is also a part of as an MLA. The lands at Rishikonda in Vizag are precious, they are worth crores of rupees. The filmmakers will be getting them for paltry amount if they set up studios. The Nandamuri family members own a studio named Ramakrishna Horticulture Studio in Hyderabad which was established by late NTR, but it is not running at all.
The studio is used occasionally for Balakrishna’s movie launch events. They can’t even run the studio in Hyderabad but have plans to establish it in Vizag with international standards!

TDP’s ‘sixth marriage’ Kicks Up Debate!
The massive propaganda launched by YSR Congress party and its media house Sakshi over the prospective alliance between the Telugu Desam Party and the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh has kicked up wider debate in the political circles.Continuing the comment made by party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy at a public meeting in Narsipatnam, Sakshi described it as the sixth marriage by the TDP – three times with the BJP, fourth time with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the Communists and fifth time with the Jana Sena Party.
“Now, the TDP is getting ready for a sixth marriage with the Congress party, which betrayed the people of Andhra Pradesh by dividing the combined state,” Jagan said.Sakshi went on to speculate that TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is going in for pre-poll alliance with the Congress party much against the wishes of his party leaders and offering 20 MLA seats and four MP seats to the Congress as part of the alliance.
In the bargain, the TDP will also seek good number of MLA seats in Telangana from the Congress.
Former Union minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Daggubati Purandeshwari on Wednesday endorsed the YSRC viewpoint and wondered how the TDP which was founded by her father N T Rama Rao on the plank of the anti-Congress stand could have an alliance with the Congress. No sincere TDP worker would support this opportunistic alliance, she said.Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president N Raghuveera Reddy wondered whether Jagan and his media house Sakshi had set up any marriage bureau.
“Why are they so keen on the marriage between the TDP and the Congress? We already made it clear that our alliance is with the people and nobody else. We shall fight in our own way,” Reddy said.TDP leader and minister S Chandramohan Reddy said there was absolutely no discussion among the party leaders’ meeting with Naidu over an alliance with the Congress party.
“Never did we consider an alliance with the Congress. It is never on our agenda. All that we have been telling the people is about the need to bring an anti-BJP government at the Centre. That is all,” he said.
