Now that Karnataka is over and BJP lost its chance to form the government, all eyes are on Madhya Pradesh where Assembly Elections will be held later this year (2018). The latest revelation on the voters list in Madhya Pradesh has come as a major shocker. Apparently, a whopping 60 Lakh ‘Fake’ Voters have been enrolled in the Voters List ahead of Assembly polls. 60 Lakh voters amount to 12 per cent which is very crucial in deciding the mandate of the state elections.What is raising more doubts is that the population of the state grew as per government records grew by 24 percent in 10 years whereas the voters increased by 40 percent.

Taking this goof-up to the Election Commission’s notice, Congress submitted a serious complaint to the EC to investigate the issue. Responding on it, the EC has formed four teams to look into the issue. The EC has asked the 4 teams to conduct a detailed investigation and told them to door-to-door verification and advised them to rectify immediately if found any irregularities. The EC told its teams to take corrective and swift action on the issue.

While BJP is currently ruling in Madhya Pradesh under Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s leadership, Congress leadership in MP is accusing the BJP of doing malpractices in run up to 2018 Assembly polls. Congress senior leader Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that the Congress has done extensive scrutinization of the voters list in all the constituencies and found out several glaring mistakes including finding one voter listed in all the 26 lists.

Meanwhile, the Chief Election Officer Saleena Singh too responded on the issue. However, she said hasn’t agreed to the Congress allegation of having 60 lakh fake voters. She said so far 3.86 lakh names of fake voters have been “identified” and “deleted” and more likely to be removed after found that they are fake. She said she is monitoring the situation thoroughly and taking help of the district collectors.

State BJP too responded and asked the EC to remove such fake names from the voters list and rectify the flaws.

As the 2019 polls are fast-approaching, the political heat in Andhra Pradesh is catching up like never before. While CM Chandrababu Naidu is doing Deekshas against the Centre’s gross injustice to AP, Opposition leader Jagan Reddy is doing his Praja Sankalpa Yatra and Janasena leader Pawan Kalyan resorted to Porata Yatra, the political temperatures have soared up resulting in a war of words between the leaders.

While Jagan and Pawan are indulging in verbal attacks on Chandrababu Naidu and his government leaving the Centre, angry TDP leaders are opening can of worms against Pawan who unleashed war on Naidu.

TDP legislator stated, “Elections are approaching. Everybody wants CM post. Either the one who get married thrice and left his wives or the one who went to jail and spent jail life wouldn’t be voted to power. Telugu people don’t vote to such persons whose track record is bad,” said Gurajada MLA Srinivasa Rao Yarapathaneni. He quickly added that the people would vote only to who worked very hard for people and state. Referring to CM Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP legislator said people would vote for the leader who stood by them in all hardships.

Speaking at the Nava Nirman Deeksha organized by the TDP in Pidiguralla, Srinivasa Rao breathed fire on Jagan and Pawan. He said Karnataka outcome is a tight slap on BJP and how anti-Modi wave is riding across the country.

Hyderabad: A 18-year-old girl jumped to death from a building here on Tuesday allegedly after failing to get a good rank in the NEET exam, police said.The girl, identified as Jasleen Kaur, jumped from top of the 10-storey shopping complex in the busy Abids area in the heart of the city. A police officer said the girl apparently ended her life as she went into depression after not getting the expected rank in National Eligibility-cum-Entrance (NEET) exam, the results of which were declared on Monday.

A resident of Kachiguda neighbourhood, Jasleen reached Mayuri Complex in the commercial hub of Abids around 10.30 a.m. After parking her two-wheeler, she climbed the stairs and reached the top floor. Some people who spotted her raised an alarm to deter her but she jumped down.

According to police, the girl sustained head injuries and died on the spot. The body was shifted to government-run Osmania Hospital for autopsy.Police registered a case. The CCTV footage showed the girl wearing jeans and T-shirt walking up the stairs and later jumping to death.

For quite some time, the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, right from party’s national president Amit Shah to official spokesman G V L Narasimha Rao, have been making allegations that the TDP government in AP headed by CM N Chandrababu Naidu had misused Central funds and had submitted fake utilisation certificates.Despite the counter-attack by Naidu giving clarifications, GVL reiterated the same allegations, so as to expose the TDP’s bluff.

On Monday, GVL even described Naidu as a liar and cheat, who had been indulging in spit and run game against the BJP.The counter-attack from the TDP continued on Tuesday, too. Naidu’s son and IT minister Nara Lokesh took to twitter to question the authority of GVL.

He wondered who GVL was to say that the UCs submitted by AP are incorrect.

“It is for the departments concerned to raise questions, if they are in improper form. For your information, all the UCs for nearly Rs 1,000 crore spent on backward districts have been submitted and approved,” he said.Stating that submissions and approval of the UCs are administrative procedures that involve the Central and the state governments, Lokesh alleged that the BJP was trying to politicise the same and portray that AP was misusing funds to tarnish Naidu’s image.

“By the way, submission of UCs has nothing to do with the fulfilment of the promise of Special Category Status to AP,” he pointed out.He said as of now, the Centre had given Rs 1500 Cr to Amaravati and the government had submitted UCs up to Rs 1583 crore and they were accepted.“I request GVL to share details of his ‘imaginary projects’ for which Rs 8962 crore was given or accept that he is lying through his teeth,” the IT minister said.

He clarified that no funds were released for Amaravati drainage works. An amount of Rs 460 crore and Rs 540 crore was given to Vijayawada and Guntur respectively.“Of them, UCs for Rs 349 crore have already been submitted for the work completed until now. Pending work in both cities will be finished by next year,” he said.

In a distinct departure from the age-rule set by the BJP for contesting elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants veteran party leader LK Advani to contest Lok Sabha polls in 2019.According to a report in Bengali daily Anandabazar Patrika, other veterans like Murli Manohar Joshi might also be fielded by the BJP.Advani contested and won the last LS elections from Gandhinagar in Gujarat but has been marginalised within the party ever since.

He along with MM Joshi did not find a place in BJP’s highest decision-making body — the Parliamentary Board.Party President Amit Shah instead created a five-member advisory body — Marg Darshak Mandal — comprising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Shah himself and the two leaders Joshi and Advani. The Marg Darshak Mandal has not had a single meeting since its inception.

The Anandabazaar Patrika story claims Modi recently met 90-year-old Advani at his home at Prithviraj Road in Delhi. BJP President Amit Shah too has met the nonagenarian leader with the proposal.The recent developments with the BJP coincide with some allies leaving the NDA ahead of the elections (TDP) and some others asserting themselves for a larger say in running the government and seat sharing.

Both Shiv Sena and JD(U) in Bihar have made their discomfort clear in the last one month.

The change in BJP’s position on veteran leaders is being seen as a move giving weightage to winability of the candidates than their age.In the Karnataka elections last month, the BJP relaxed the age bar for its CM candidate BS Yeddyurappa. BJP’s reported proposal to the party veterans comes at the time of attempts by the opposition to cobble together a nation-wide alliance against the NDA and a string of bypoll defeats the joint opposition has recently inflicted on the ruling party.

The opposition has often accused the BJP and its top leaders of ignoring and marginalising party veterans in the last four years of the NDA rule.

It appears Bharatiya Janata Party does not want to let Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu off so easily.The party sought to exploit the Hindu sentiments to create troubles for Naidu by making up the allegations of corruption in Tirumala temple administration and raking up the issue of missing jewellery through former head priest A V Ramana Deekshitulu.

Since Naidu has launched a counter-attack to defend himself, the BJP has now took a new route to attack Naidu.In its latest strategy, the BJP roped in Vishwa Hindu Parishad to fix the TDP on the TTD issue.On Sunday, the VHP held a closed-door meeting of Hindu religious leaders in Hyderabad to chalk out an action plan for agitating against the TDP government for unceremonious sacking of Ramana Deekshitulu.

A day-long brainstorming session of the VHP with Hindu seers decided agitate for delinking of the temple administration, including that of the Tirumala, from the government purview and entrust the same to the Dharmik Mandals.The meeting expressed concern over the retirement of priests, non-compliance of Agama rituals and management of the TTD jewellery.The meeting, attended by Hampi Seer Vidyaranya Swamy, Paripurnananda Swamy , Kamalananda Bharti Swamy and other prominent seers, felt that the Chandrababu Naidu government had failed to protect the sanctity of the temple.

“If the state government can’t protect the sanctity of the temple, then the Seers will have to lead the agitation and save the temple from the hands of the politicians,” the conclave declared.The seers said that they will come out with “Tirumala Declaration” on 9 June plotting the future course of action.
