Tirumala Laddu Ghee Adulteration SIT Moves to Summon Senior Officials

The ongoing investigation into the alleged adulteration of ghee used in the preparation of the renowned Tirumala laddu has taken a significant turn. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), established under Supreme Court directives, has reportedly questioned Appanna, the personal assistant to former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman and Rajya Sabha member Y V Subba Reddy.
Appanna, who had been issued a notice by the SIT a few days prior, has been under intense interrogation over the last two days. Alongside him, six other TTD employees are currently under investigation as part of the comprehensive probe.
Sources indicate that the SIT is also preparing to issue notices to two former senior officials who were involved in key administrative decisions, as well as to another influential figure believed to have played a pivotal role in the implementation of certain processes.
To date, 15 individuals—including dairy owners and employees responsible for supplying ghee to the TTD—have been arrested in connection with this high-profile case. The SIT’s inquiry has reportedly uncovered explosive revelations, shedding light on the alleged adulteration scandal that has rocked the TTD community.
The investigation is now focusing on three former high-ranking officials who held critical administrative positions within TTD. Notices will soon be served to summon them for questioning, and lookout notices are being prepared to ensure their availability for the inquiry. The testimonies of these prominent individuals are expected to be crucial to advancing the case.
The SIT’s probe encompasses a thorough examination of every facet related to the ghee procurement process, including tender procedures and the credentials of supplier firms. Multiple raids have been conducted at supplier locations, resulting in the arrest of four additional suspects. Inspections have also been carried out at the Tirumala temple premises.
As the SIT moves closer to filing its first chargesheet, the investigation is poised to reach a critical juncture. The issuance of notices to former officials marks a potentially decisive phase in uncovering the full extent of the alleged malpractice.

Kavitha’s Solo Protest Over KCR Probe Sparks Political Debate

Telangana Jagruthi president and BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha staged a protest at Indira Chowk on Wednesday, opposing the issuance of judicial probe notices to her father and party chief, K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), over alleged irregularities in the construction of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.
Interestingly, the protest witnessed a conspicuous absence of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) flags and party leaders. Despite the demonstration being in support of KCR, there were no visible signs of party backing, pointing to reported internal instructions from the BRS leadership discouraging cadre from participating.
Observers note that this development highlights the growing rift within the party, with speculation suggesting that KCR perceives his daughter’s actions as an attempt to leverage his stature for personal political mileage.
Kavitha’s assertion that serving notices to KCR is tantamount to insulting Telangana has drawn sharp reactions from political analysts. Critics argue that such rhetoric seeks to blur the lines between individual accountability and regional identity.
“Legal notices issued by a judicial commission appointed by the elected Telangana government should not be framed as an attack on the state itself,” said a political analyst. “These notices relate to financial accountability in a key infrastructure project and should be addressed through proper legal channels. No leader is above the law — not even the founder of the state.”
Analysts also point to a pattern in BRS’s political narrative — repeatedly invoking Telangana sentiment in times of legal or political challenges. “Such tactics may have contributed to the electorate’s shift away from BRS in the last elections,” an observer noted.
Kavitha’s court appearances in the Delhi liquor scam case have also drawn criticism, particularly her symbolic gestures such as raising a clenched fist and chanting pro-Telangana slogans. “The charges in the liquor scam are of a personal nature, and portraying them as an attack on the state is misleading,” analysts stated.
In her recent comments, Kavitha also warned current Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, reminding him that Telangana was achieved due to KCR’s leadership during the movement. While acknowledging KCR’s significant role in the statehood struggle, critics point out that the formation of Telangana was ultimately sanctioned by the UPA government, led by the same party now headed by Revanth Reddy in the state.
The ongoing controversy reflects deeper tensions within the BRS and raises questions about the effectiveness of emotional appeals in addressing serious allegations of governance and corruption.
Thammudu Release Pushed to July 25 to Avoid Clash with Kingdom

The much-anticipated commercial action-adventure drama Thammudu has been postponed from its original release date of July 4. With Vijay Deverakonda’s highly awaited Kingdom, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, scheduled for the same day, the makers of Thammudu have strategically decided to push the release to July 25, as confirmed by reliable sources.
Set against a unique tribal backdrop and featuring extensive forest locations, Thammudu promises to be a visually immersive cinematic experience. The film stars Nithiin in the lead role, supported by Laya as his sister and Sapthami Gowda, known for her acclaimed performance in Kantara, as the female lead.
In a departure from conventional promotional campaigns, the Thammudu team is prioritizing the release of the trailer over teasers or songs, aiming to build a strong world and narrative appeal that will draw audiences to theaters. The recently unveiled motion poster, titled Mood of Thammudu, effectively introduces key characters and sets the tone for the film.
For Nithiin, Thammudu represents a pivotal moment in his career. The actor has faced box office challenges post-pandemic, with several recent projects failing to resonate widely. This film is widely seen as a potential comeback vehicle that could reaffirm his standing in the industry.
With its distinct setting, engaging storyline, and a focused promotional strategy, Thammudu is poised to make a significant impact when it hits theaters on July 25.

US Unveils Trump Gold Card, Welcomes Wealthy Indian Nationals

At the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USIPF) Leadership Summit 2025, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick introduced the Trump Gold Card program as a groundbreaking initiative poised to reshape US immigration policy. Announced by President Donald Trump in February 2025, the Trump Gold Card offers a new pathway to permanent US residency and eventual citizenship for high-net-worth individuals who invest $5 million in the American economy. This program is positioned as a replacement for the existing EB-5 visa, targeting global entrepreneurs and investors seeking to contribute to US economic growth.
Lutnick emphasized that India is a primary focus market for the Trump Gold Card, given the significant interest among wealthy Indian nationals. He described the program as a transformative gateway for global entrepreneurs to gain residency status akin to green card holders, with attractive tax benefits. Notably, Trump Gold Card holders may choose between paying global taxes or limiting their tax liabilities to US assets only, with exemptions from inheritance and global tax obligations.
Despite ongoing challenges faced by Indian students due to tightened visa regulations and deportations, Lutnick expressed optimism that the Trump Gold Card will be highly popular among affluent Indian investors who are eager to engage with and contribute to the US economy. This initiative signals a strategic shift toward welcoming investment-driven immigration, reinforcing the US commitment to fostering innovation and economic partnerships with key global markets such as India.
Bunny Vas Launches New Banner BV Works, Begins With Comedy ‘Mithra Brundham’

Producer Bunny Vas, a key figure and longstanding pillar of the renowned Geetha Arts and GA2 Pictures banners, has officially launched his own production house named BV Works.
For some time, industry insiders have speculated about differences between Bunny Vas and Geetha Arts founder Allu Aravind. Reports suggest that tensions arose following the inclusion of Allu Aravind’s relative, Vidya Koppineedi, into the company’s operations. More significantly, Bunny Vas is said to be dissatisfied with the prolonged decision-making process within the Geetha Arts compound, which reportedly involves multiple layers of approval. This complexity has reportedly caused delays, prompting emerging directors to explore opportunities with other production houses.
Additionally, Geetha Arts has been perceived as lagging behind competitors like Mythri Movie Makers and Sithara Entertainments in offering substantial advances to directors, impacting its ability to secure fresh talent promptly. The film DJ Tillu is cited as an example of a promising project lost due to such delays.
Despite these challenges, Bunny Vas is believed to have sought and received Allu Aravind’s consent before establishing BV Works. Many industry observers view this new venture as a potential step towards Bunny Vas gradually distancing himself from Geetha Arts.
The inaugural project under the BV Works banner is titled Mithra Brundham, a comedy entertainer starring Priyadarshi in the lead role. The film is directed by newcomer Vijayendar and co-produced by Bhanu Pratapa—known for his association with films such as Thandel, AAY, Kotabommali, and Single. Vyra Entertainment, the production house behind Nani’s Hi Nanna, is also collaborating as a co-producer.
With BV Works, Bunny Vas aims to streamline decision-making and foster fresh talent, positioning the new banner as a promising player in the Telugu film industry.
