Carrying black flags, they squatted on the road and raised slogans of “Amit Shah go back” and “We want justice”.Police tried to control the protestors, some of whom pelted stones, damaging window panes of one of the cars in the convoy. A few local leader of the BJP got off the cars and thrashed the protestors.Amit Shah, who along with family members arrived here on Thursday evening, offered prayers at the temple on Friday morning. They were returning to the airport when the incident occurred.

Police said while there was no damage to the vehicles of BJP chief and his family members, cars of some BJP leaders came under attack. The police whisked away the protestors. One of them alleged that Modi had betrayed the five crore people of Andhra Pradesh by not fulfilling the promise made in this temple town in the presence of Lord Venkateswara during the 2014 election campaign.

Chief Minister and TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu condemned the attack on Shah’s convoy. Stating that TDP was a disciplined party, he warned those violating the discipline. Naidu said he was against violence or any physical attack on anybody. On April 30, Chandrababu Naidu had addressed a public meeting in this temple town. At this meeting, the chief TDP played the videos of Modi’s speech he delivered in Tirupati on the same day in 2014. Modi, in his speech, had promised to fulfill the commitments.

Nagarjuna’s emotional applause for Mahanati

Mahanati is receiving appreciation from all corners. From narration to making, the biopic is an epic in all aspects with top-notch technical work and stellar performances. Keerthy Suresh’s nuances to dialogues have been flawless as Savitri.
Everyone has been in awe of Nag Ashwin with the way he envisaged and brought the legendary actress to life.

Industry biggies have been hailing the young director. Nagarjuna becomes overwhelmed and nostalgic. The King heaped praises on the Mahanati team. An emotional Nag,“@KeerthyOfficial you were brilliant along with @dulQuer in #Mahanati / @SwapnaCinema Vyjayanthi movies & ashwin nag take a bow you have put telugu cinema on a pedestal!! @Samanthaprabhu2 ❤my eyes are filled with tears of pride!! #mahanati what a tribute to Savithramma????”[sic]

Earlier, the Akkineni hero expressed he is proud as a father but jealousy as a son for Naga Chaitanya portraying ANR in the movie. It is well known that Nag shares special bonding with Savitri garu, remember he recollected that she carried him in her arms as a toddler?

Was Attack On Shah A Plan By Naidu?

Share

The Bharatiya Janata Party took serious note of the attempt of the Telugu Desam Party activists to attack the convoy of BJP national president Amit Shah at Alipiri, at the foothills of Tirumala on Friday morning.BJP MLC and firebrand leader Somu Veerraju accused TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu of masterminding the attack on Shah.

“It seems to be a reaction to my comment that Naidu would have to face another Alipiri type of attack, if he tried to malign the BJP on the special category status issue. That is why, he instigated his party activsits to attack Shah’s convoy,” he alleged.Veerraju said the incident showed how bad the law and order situation in the state was, as a an MP and president of a national party which has been ruling nearly 21 states had no protection.

“It was a pre-planned attack on Shah and had the blessings of Naidu. It shows the criminal mentality of Naidu,” the BJP leader said. However, Naidu denied having knowledge about the incident. While condemning the attack on the BJP chief, he warned the TDP cadres of indulging in such violent protests.

“Attacks are not our party culture. I strongly condemn the attack. I don’t want recurrence of any such incidents,” Naidu said.

Rajugadu Trailer: Raj Tarun as Kleptomaniac

Share

Telugu film industry has been coming up with entertainers based upon human disabilities and disorders. After Bhale Bhale Magadivoy and Mahanubhavudu here comes another film based upon a rare disorder. Raj Tarun plays Kleptomaniac in Rajugadu produced by AK Entertainments.

Rajugadu cannot refrain himself from stealing due to Kleptomania and he has to hide his disorder to get married to his girlfriend, played by Amyra Dastur.Trailer of the film almost shows us the entire film in two minutes. Raj Tarun who failed to entertain as a blind protagonist in Andhagadu is hoping to bounce back with Rajugadu.

Humor in the trailer is not appealing and looks dated. Hope there is better comedy in the full feature as it is hard to keep the audience entertained with these standards of humor. The film that has been postponed multiple times already is slated for release in the first week of June.

Mehbooba Movie Review

Share

Puri Jagannadh has launched the likes of Ram Charan (Chirutha), Puneeth Rajkumar (Appu) and Ishan (Rogue). He is known for image make-over of the stars. The auteur of films like Badri, Idiot, Pokiri has also introduced several female actors. All these naturally give rise to the expectations on his son Akash’s launch pad – Mehbooba. In addition to this, the film’s promising trailer too keeps the hopes alive.

However, his recent track record makes one skeptical about his comeback. Unfortunately, Puri continues it with Mehbooba too. It is not a perfect launch for his son Akash. Read on to know what didn’t work and where Puri got it wrong.

Story :
Roshan (Akash) is born in India. Since childhood, he remembers traces of his past. This worries his working parents. Afreen (Neha Shetty) is born in Pakistan. She too faces similar problem. She recalls her previous life where she is killed. Both Roshan and Afreen grew up. While Roshan wants to become soldier and wishes to serve Indian Army, Afreen convinces her parents to continue her higher studies in India.

What is their past? When do they realize they are Kabir and Mehbooba? Did they reunite?

Technicalities:

Puri Jagannadh is known for writing unique characterization for his protagonists with a care-free attitude. But the protagonist of Mehbooba, Roshan, a responsible youth who works part-time to pay off his college fees. And he cares for society. Puri takes the opportunity and tries to get preachy.

Though there is scope for imbibing commercial elements into this serious story, Puri chose otherwise. He is honest to the story he has chosen for his son’s launch. But he couldn’t run the film in a gripping manner. Filled with predictable scenes, the film forces viewers to look towards the nearest exit in cinema.

It’s not all bad. The war zone is nicely erected and war scenes are well conceived. Technically, the film has nothing to found fault with. Initially, the camera movement is not very comfortable but it falls in place as the story begins. Sandeep’s music is average. Title song and theme music is good. Rest doesn’t suit the album of young couple. Editing is alright.

Performances:

Akash is alright but he still has to work upon his acting skills. He is still rigid and needs a lot of maturity to pull off the strong roles such as Roshan.

Neha is fine. She has little to offer. Shayaji Shinde shines as a frustrated father who often complains, grumbles over his son’s acts. Murali Sharma as girl’s father is impressive. All other characters are okay. There are only a few notable faces in the film.

Thumbs Up:

Cinematography

Technical Aspects

Thumbs Down:

Lackluster scenes

Lack of emotion in love story

Weak climax

Analysis:

Puri has been suffering from this problem from a while. His movies are good until he unravels the story. Once the story is revealed, he suffers to sustain the momentum. Even in Mehbooba, he faces the same and repeats the same-old mistakes. He has chosen a rather heavy story for the launch of his son as the hero. The film levies too much burden on Akash that he fails to pull it off. Also, none of the scenes make enough impact. Be it India-Pakistan cricket match scenes or the Pakistan Zindabad scenes have failed to crack any fireworks as expected.

The good thing is that Puri has stayed away from his usual comedy or item number in this serious love story set against the Indo-Pak backdrop. There is no Ali or a Mumaith Khan. It is a blessing in disguise. But, Puri struggled with the narration. He failed to evolve the substance in this wafer-thin plot of reincarnation of love couple.

First half moves at slow pace, but it is decent. The pre-interval scenes rises the tempo and curiosity. However, post interval, the second half fails to live up to the curiosity it generated during the interval. Climax is utterly boring and predictable.

Verdict: Poor(i) Show!

Real Life Journalist Inspired Samantha’s Character?

Share

“Mahanati” has no doubt created a long-lasting impact on Telugu viewers, by bringing the life of legendary actress Savitri to Silver Screen yet again. At the same time, every other character in the film has just stunned. More importantly, Samantha’s performance is just top notch. The role of journalist Madhuravani played by Samantha is amazing but is it truly the creation of director/storywriters or there is someone behind it? For people who know complete updates about Savitri’s last days, it is pretty clear that a lady journalist inspired “Mahanati” team for that character.

One section of audiences feel that popular journalist and noted writer Sivasankari who used to write columns for “Anandan Vikatan” magazine is the one who inspired this Madhuravani character. Actually, she’s the one who interviewed Savitri much before and also met her when she’s on the bed and in a coma. In 1981, Sivasankari wrote an article in the magazine explaining how bad Savitri’s position is, not just her health position, but the way she got pushed to a single room house from the palatial residence she used to live in. Two months after the article got published, Savitri breathed her last.

Even in this film, Samantha’s character meets Savitri in a similar position and we could easily figure out the resemblances between Madhuravani and Sivasankari.

That First Scene Choked Hearts Of Audiences

Share

True to the showers of appreciations coming from all quarters, “Mahanati” is a masterpiece for its brilliant portrayal of the life and times of legendary actress Savitri. And if anyone is yet to watch the film, stop here, watch the film and then read this article as there is a spoiler ahead.

For every film, there will be this opening scene which is called an inciting incident and that will speak volumes about the movie. Here in “Mahanati”, that particular opening scene actually chokes your heart. That’s a true scene actually when Savitri has for the first time lost her consciousness in sleep while attending a film shoot in Mysore and slipped into coma.

Especially when Savitri is carried to Mysore government hospital, the staff will ask the ambulance guys to keep her in the walkways as the beds are not available. And one director reacts strongly, as she shouts at ward boys, “Do you know who she is?”. It’s true that many Kannadigas might not have to know Savitri in the 80s as by that time the likes of Sridevi became masala stars and she’s doing only character roles. But in an hour’s span, thousands of Telugu crowds gathered back then around the hospital and that explained the image Savitri has. Truly the scene is choking and it brought hearts of many Telugu film lovers to a pause for a second.

A starlet who just sprinkles silver screen with her greatness has just got neglected in a hospital. One wonders, why God has done such gross injustice to her?

PK To Raviteja: “Siggulekunda Ela Act Chestaru?”

Share

I know Raviteja from a long time much before I became an actor. I met him in Madras during Aaj Ka Gundaraj preview and observed him so closely, the only actor I’ve seen such close after my brother. He might have forgotten that incident as I’m commoner then, but I didn’t forget as he’s a celebrity” said Pawan Kalyan, at Nela Ticket audio launch, pushing everyone into splits of huge laughs.

When Raviteja invited him to speak, the mass raja also stunned the audience showcasing how much he loves Pawan. “The Pawan, The Power, The Kalyan, The Star,” he said, adding, “We’ve been very good acquaintances and whenever we meet it will be like this (laughing all the time). These days he got busy and we’re not meeting regularly”, Raviteja said.

Cut to Pawan, he acknowledged that he was in awe of Raviteja and asked him, “Meeru anta Siggulekunda ela act chestaru?”. How would Raviteja act without any shy is what Pawan meant. “I’m stunned to see how he will act so naturally without feeling shy even if he’s amidst huge audiences. I myself feel shy to do such things. I think he leaves that ‘shyness’ at home and comes to shooting” Pawan said, bringing the roof down again.

But here is a serious thing Pawan Kalyan stressed: “Behind those laughs and powerhouse performances, there is a serious side. To produce such great comedy, one has to go through turmoil inside the heart. There are struggle and huge hard work that brought him such immense growth. I’m the witness to it”.

Later he praised the producer and music director as well.

“Not just earning money, but Ram Talluri has the intention of giving back to the society and taking care of underprivileged through his NGO. That’s how I first met him”, he said. “Only our work should speak, not us— a philosophy that I love so much and composer Shakti is an example of that. I know his music but not him. I wish him luck for Nela Ticket”, Pawan concluded.
