Share

On the request of his daughter and Nizamabad MP K Kavitha, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao introduced a new scheme. He announced Rs 1000 pension per month to every patient suffering with lymphatic filariasis (Filaria). The new scheme will benefit the identified nearly 47,000 people who are suffering from filariasis.

Kavitha brought to KCR notice that several cases of filariasis were reported in her Parliamentary Constituency and also other areas in the state. She told the CM the victims are toiling to lead a normal life as they are denied jobs with body abnormalities.

Responding to Kavitha’s request to provide help to the ailing persons, KCR called an emergency meeting with Health department officials and announced the new pension. It will provide relief to more than 40,000 patients. KCR also decided to take up a village level survey and extend the pension scheme to all patients. Kavitha thanked Chief Minister for announcing the new scheme.

Breaking: Centre Agrees To Fulfill AP’s Demands!

Share

In a historic decision, Andhra Pradesh state government has convinced the Centre to its reasonable demands. The Union Government has conceded to fill the AP’s deficit budget and implement the promises it made in AP Reorganization Act 2014.

Five days after the protests of Andhra Pradesh MPs, particularly from TDP, and CM Chandrababu Naidu’s repeated statements, BJP-led government agreed to immediately release the financial assistance for the 10 months in 2014-15 owing to the recommendations of 14th Finance Commission. Apart from this, the Central government has also agreed to provide the pending financial assistance for the three years – 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 – all at once.

Union Minister of Science for Science & Technology & Earth Sciences YS Chowdary (Sujana Chowdary) has interacted with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goel and BJP National President Amit Shah. After an elaborate two-and-half-hour discussion, Finance Minister said to have agreed to clear all the pending dues from the Centre to the State. It is learnt that Jaitley has asked for the accounts of expenditure for the construction of AP’s Capital City Amaravati so far and promised to clear that amount as well.

Jaitley said to have directed Railway Minister Piyush Goel to immediately announce Special Railway Zone to Visakhapatnam and the announcement from Railway Minister is likely to be made anytime sooner. Meanwhile, Arun Jaitley told YS Chowdary that a Port can’t be built in Dugarajapatnam port as mentioned in the Act due to “security” reasons. Jaitley, however, promised to build the port at anyother location proposed by the state government along with giving all clearances from the Centre.

In lieu of the Special Category Status, Jaitley agreed to give financial assistance to AP. It’s reliably learnt that the Special Package funds would be adjusted towards the gap in funds for the Externally-Aided Projects (EAPs). Apart from these, the Union Government has also agreed to set up the Petro Chemical Complex in AP. In its latest promise, the Centre has also agreed to build Integrated Steel Plant in Kadapa based on natural iron ore available in the region. However, this will be built with Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode. It’s learnt that the Centre has told YS Chowdary that MECON company would give its detailed report in two days (Feb 12).

Earlier

With huge uproar from people, leaders of AP over Jaitley’s ‘lackluster’ speech in Parliament that lacked substance, Jaitley clarified to YS Chowdary that the above statements couldn’t be made in Parliament due to the rules, regulations. On the whole, the Centre has bowed down to the pressure mounted by the TDP leaders. Looks like, TDP has won its preliminary battle in Parliament. The rest depends on the execution.

Reel Buzz: Sai Pallavi Sets Rules

Share

Like it or not, Telugu film industry is a male dominated industry. Even top heroines don’t get to set rules for the film-makers.Writing a story to fit in a heroine and managing schedules as per heroine’s demands doesn’t happen in film industries.

Similarly, the heroines don’t demand the stories to be changed and neither do they insist on their characters being changed. One girl who has been going great days is heroine Sai Pallavi. Though none of the star heroes work with her, she is nevertheless a mini superstar in her range.

While some feel she is over-doing it, there are others who feel this is a welcome change in a industry that glorifies heroes. But on her part, Sai Pallavi is getting the industry to play to her tunes.

Medium-Range Heroes Going Strong

Share

Film-making is a gamble. Some times films work and some times they don’t. Of late, films of big heroes haven’t been doing well at the box-office. Minimum guarantee films are the best bet these days. While big films are not breaking even unless and until they make Rs 80 to Rs 100 crore, medium budget films in the range of Rs 20 crore and Rs 30 crore are doing well at the box-office.Thanks to this latest trend, Nani has emerged as the superstar in this segment. And thanks to his popularity, Nani now demands Rs 9 crore for a film.

However, those who cannot afford him are now trying to sign Vijay Devarakonda and Varun Tej, who are equally popular with the younger generation.Given that both of them have craze among youth and given the business that their films do, they are much sought after by producers these days. Also, since Nithin, Ram and Sai Dharam Tej are struggling to get hits these days, Nani, Vijay Devarakonda and Varun Tej are doing rather well.

So, these heroes are staying off blockbusters and making money thanks to the splurging capacity of middle-class audiences.

‘Yedava’ Pet Name For Varun Tej

People google for various questions and there is a never-dying hunger to know even the minutest of the details about celebrities. So when it comes to current heartthrob Varun Tej, questions about his girlfriend, about his love life and questions about his height are the most googled questions. Also, many ask about how much he charges for a film. Varun Tej says he has no fixed pricing. It all depends on the script and the film-maker, he says.

Depending on who he is working with and the story, his remuneration varies, says he. Varun Tej adds that he charges less if he likes a script or the director. As for his education, he shares that he never went overseas to study. But he happens to be a BCom computers graduate from Hyderabad. When fans asked him about his marriage, Varun Tej said it was too early to talk about it and confessed that he was dating no one.

Another question that many wanted to know was about his pet name. Well, here comes the fun fact. Apparently, his dad calls him ‘yedava’. While that sounds a little awkward, it shows the bonding between father and son.Another most googled question about Varun Tej is his height. He says he is 6 feet 4 inches tall, which incidentally is more than Prabhas’ height. These are some of the questions that Varun Tej responded to on Google.

It’s not over yet: Deepika on ‘Padmaavat’ success

Deepika Padukone, whose latest release “Padmaavat” has turned out to be the actress’ highest grosser by crossing India collections of Rs 230 crore, says she is yet to celebrate the success and feels the success story is not over as yet.Deepika plays the title role in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial, and has expressed her gratitude for the love and appreciation that has come to her, Bhansali as well as co-actors Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.

“I think for me, Ranveer’s contribution in the film as well as Shahid’s contribution, is something that I will always cherish.”I think it was very gracious of them to give so much to this film and I am so happy that together we get to celebrate the success but like I said, it’s not over as in the weekend more people will go to watch our film,” Deepika said here on the sidelines of Volare Awards 2018.

The event was organised by Consulate General of Italy on Friday in Mumbai, and Deepika received an award.Asked about how she is celebrating the success of “Padmaavat”, she said: “To be really honest, I think there hasn’t been any time to celebrate the success because there is so much happening right now. Of course, it is the time for celebration.”I think receiving awards like these reminds me why I am in this business of making films, because cinema is such a powerful medium. It spreads love and brings people together. I think awards like these really sort of reinstate that.

“As far as my film is concerned, I had said this earlier as well, there is no stopping it. I think it deserves all the kind of love and blessings that we are receiving. I think box-office numbers are again testament of that and it’s not over yet.”On her Valentine’s Day plans, Deepika said: “I think every day should be celebrated. I am going to be prepping for my next film and I think that’s what I will be doing on this Valentine’s Day.”

Deepika will next be seen on screen with her “Piku” co-star Irrfan Khan in Vishal Bhardwaj’s yet untitled movie.

‘From whom are TDP members demanding justice’

Share

YSR Congress Rajya Sabha member Vijaysai Reddy on Friday demanded to know as to whom from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members were demanding justice by protesting in the house.”The members of the TDP who are also part of the ruling dispensation at the Centre, they are demanding justice. They are in power at the Centre (as NDA coalition partners) as well as in the state (Andhra Pradesh). From whom are they demanding justice? It is them who should give justice to the people of Andhra Pradesh,” Reddy said in the House.

“Yesterday (Thursday), the Chairman has given a ruling that one cabinet minister can give a suggestion to another. I would like to know from the Chairman if there is any rule under which a minister can give an assurance to another minister, especially considering that both are Ministers of State in their respective ministries?” he asked. On Thursday, members from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the Rajya Sabha, cutting across party lines, had raked up the issue of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and demanded a solution to the crisis.

In an attempt to resolve the issue, Naidu allowed Minister of State for Science and Technology Y.S. Chowdary, of the TDP, to give suggestions over the demand of special status to Andhra Pradesh.”If government is willing there are some issues of special status category. My request to the government is that if they can commit to resolve the issue in 15 days. The Finance Minister should address this concern in his reply to the budget speech,” he had said.

Responding to the demand, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel assured that the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will address the issue during his reply to the budget debate. Some opposition members objected to this “unprecedented” exchange of communication between the two ministers inside the House, wondering how could a minister “advise” his own government inside Parliament, that too after the Budget had been presented.

The Chairman, however, clarified that the Minister had given suggestion to find out a solution.”There is no constitutional misuse. If anyone wants to give suggestion, he can give. A minister as a member of his political party can give suggestion. He has not protested but gave suggestions to resolve the issue,” he said.

On Friday, raising the issue again, Vijaysai Reddy pointed out that Chowdary began his speech “on behalf of the government of India” but in the end “requested” his own government to do justice to Andhra Pradesh. “Is he (Chowdary) part of the government or not? First he should resign from the government and then ask for the justice. Justice to Andhra Pradesh can be done only after they (TDP) resign from the government,” he said.

Mamta Mohandas Regrets Saying No To Arundhati

Remember Mamta Mohandas? The sexy heroine who has sizzled in films like Yamadonga, King and Chintakayala Ravi has been battling cancer from few years. She is only concentrating upon Malayalam cinema ever since she was diagnosed with cancer.Mamta, who was a busy bee in the initial days, juggled her acting and singing careers simultaneously.

Recently, the award winning actress revealed that she regretted for saying no to a movie sometime ago.Mamta was initially approached to play the lead role in the Telugu dark fantasy Arundhati. But the actress refused the offer and the movie later went on to become one of the highest grosser that year, catapulting its lead actor Anushka Shetty to stardom.

Mamta says, “I was not very passionate about cinema for a period. I was really confused during the first four years of my career. Though I kept acting in movies, I did not choose the right kind of roles or films. I gave up a call to redeem my career in movies. But two months later, another realization struck me as I became busy with my constant journeys to the Appollo hospital, that it was time for me to pursue life rather than my career.”

Tholi Prema Movie Review

Share

Story

Aadi (Varun Tej) is an instinctive youngster who falls in love with Varsha (Raashi Khanna) when he spots her for the first time in a train journey. Later he meets her in an engineering college again. They fall in love and he realises that she is a calculative person unlike him. She has problem with temperament and anger issues of Aadi. Rest of the story is all about the clash of two different personalities and how they realise that they can be together despite having contrasting natures.

Artists Performance
It’s a complete makeover for Varun Tej and he emerges as a mature actor with this film. There are so many emotional scenes and he carried them all with excellent conviction. He looks different in three phases and he is uber stylish. He turns out to be a director’s actor. There is complete ease in dances for him. All steps performed by him are graceful and at ease with his big personality.

This is the best character for Raashi Khanna in Telugu films. We had seen her as a cute girl and glamor doll in most of Telugu films, but for the first time she does an author-backed role and with complete authority. She is cute in the first phase and gorgeous as college student in 2nd phase and as a woman of maturity in 3rd phase. Only few directors write such good female characters in Telugu film and she gets one such role with Tholi Prema..

Others

Priyadarshi gets a full length character and he is natural with his performance. Vidyullekha Raman is hilarious in ‘akka’ character in college. Hyper Aadi character is aimed at pleasing masses. Suhasini plays a crucial role of hero’s mother. Naresh is fine as a casteist uncle in UK. Sapna Pabbi – a british actress sparks in a song.

Technical departments
Story – screenplay – direction:

The three phased story and destiny part of it reminds us of 1989 Hollywood classic When Harry Met Sally. A film titled Hum Tum is made in Hindi is inspired by WHMS. But the comparison ends there. Writer Venky writes a fresh story with good characterizations. Debutant director Venky Atluri shows good craftsmanship and excellent aesthetic sense with Tholi Prema. You can also see naturally flawed character of hero, which is pretty rare in Telugu films. The director who has given a complete new orientation to the first half, falls into the trap of second half syndrome, where he changes the orientation and tries to create forced comedy with a bunch of friends. Also the part where hero is forced to work under heroine looks artificial. However, the director wraps the story up in a simple way by making hero realise the important aspect of the love. College episodes in this film are fresh with a blend of romance and humor. I wish the director has stuck with his natural flow and didn’t deviate from orientation to cater to family crowds and masses in the 2nd half. Most of the first half is conversation-oriented (like When Harry Met Sally and Before Sunrise). Venky Atluri, who made his debut as hero with Gnapakam 11 years back has tried his hand as writer with Its My Love Story in 2011 and finally makes his debut as director with Tholi Prema. He shows promise with his directorial debut.

Other departments: SS Thaman has come out of his comfort zone to give beautiful and fresh music for Tholi Prema. Except for Break The Rules and Sunaina, all other songs are fresh. I loved ‘Allasani Vari’ song (a fusion of AR Rahman kind of music with lovely Telugu rendition with beautiful lyrics). Cinematography by George C Williams is elegant and is more like fine art photography (especially the college building/amphitheater and london bridge). Art direction is very good (especially selection of locations). Dialogues written by Venky are natural and have depth in them. Editing is good. Production values are sleek.

Analysis: Movies starts off in a sluggish mode, but gets enjoyable as the story shifts to college and progresses well till interval. The first half sticks to story and has a different orientation. Director incorporates some regular elements in second half to cater to family crowds and masses. Climax is wrapped up in a simple manner. Plus points of the film are first half orientation, aesthetics and new style of taking. On the flip side, we expect a more intense and emotionally powerful second half and we are served with a familiar stuff instead. On a whole, Tholi Prema is a nice attempt and offers a different perspective despite some shortcomings!

Araku MP is neither here, nor there!

Share

At a time when all the MPs from Andhra Pradesh belonging to all parties, barring the Bharatiya Janata Party, have been stalling the proceedings of Parliament demanding justice to Andhra Pradesh in the Central budget, only Andhra MP remained calm and did not take part in the agitations.

She is Kothapalli Geetha, Lok Sabha MP from Araku parliamentary constituency. She did not utter a word or raised slogans, when all the others were shouting at the top of their voices and staging dharnas inside and outside the House. This surprised many including those in the TDP as well as YSRC.

Though technically she is still in YSRC, she moved with the TDP later. For that matter, two other YSRC MPs Butta Renuka of Kurnool and S P Y Reddy of Nandyal also joined the TDP MPs in protest.

On Friday, however, Kothapalli Geetha opened her mouth and lashed out at both the YSRC and TDP for enacting dramas in the name of agitations in Parliament.

While attacking YSRC for targeting the TDP instead of BJP for ditching the state, Geetha attacked the TDP for its double standards on special category status.

“How can the TDP which sacrificed the special category status for special package can now demand the status again? How can Naidu who claims to have achieved double digit growth can now demand special status? Why is he not accounting for the funds already sanctioned by the Centre?” she asked.

She also found fault with YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for saying that his party would join hands with the BJP if the Centre gives special category status.

“How can the Centre, which did not grant special status while having the tie-up with the TDP, give it for forging alliance with the YSRC?” she asked.

Don’t Worry About Jail, Mr Naidu!

Share

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu might be afraid that the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre would dig out the files, foist cases of corruption against him and throw him behind the bars.

But, he should not be worried about being jailed, because it would only fetch him a lot political mileage, according to former Congress MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar. In a chat with a television channel, Vundavalli said first of all, there was nothing against Naidu in cash-for-vote issue that would make him go behind the bars.

“Even if he is jailed, it does more good than harm. He will get a lot of sympathy among the people, as they feel the Centre was harassing him for fighting for the rights of the state. They will vote him to power again with big majority,” Vundavalli said.

He said Naidu should show the same kind of courage against the BJP that he had shown to dethrone his father-in-law N T Rama Rao from power.“It will do a lot of good for the state,” the former MP said.

He observed that the BJP was, in fact, on a weak footing because it is gradually losing the faith of the people. The other allies of the NDA are also angry with the BJP and within the party, too, there is a disgruntled group.

“So, it is high time, the TDP intensify its fight against the BJP. Naidu has nothing to lose,” Vundavalli added.

Trolled, Samantha Responds With Strongly-Worded Post

South actress Samantha Akkineni posted a picture of herself in a bikini on Instagram so as to explain her dire need for a vacation.

But little did she know that social media doesn’t really possess an appetite for pictures as such since folks trolled Samantha for Instagramming her photograph in what they considered to be “indecent attire.”

Samantha, however, is no less for she responded with a strongly-worded post in which she wrote: “Well… now I had to go and put up a quote .. because my previous post didn’t really scream ‘ I WRITE MY RULES YOU SHOULD WRITE M̶I̶N̶E̶ YOURS,” accompannied by a quote that you must read.

Most of Samantha’s so-called ‘fans’ reprimanded her for sharing a picture as this despite being married.

“Now ur nt sngl and that too ur a mbr in rspctd fmly so pls dnt hurt u r fans,” wrote one user while another asserted: “Now u r married madam nt Singel keep tat in ur mind.” Samantha’s post had garnered over 4.5 lakh likes within six hours of being shared.

The 30-year-old actress married Naga Chaitanya at a private ceremony in Goa last year and went to London for their honeymoon.
