Lady Superstar Anushka’s horror thriller, ‘Bhaagamathie’ has completed its first week run in theatres and the result is pretty clear- its the first clean hit of 2018.In its first week, Bhaagamathie collected nearly 39 Cr at worldwide box office, which amounts to a distributor share of 21.80 Cr. That’s a pretty good hold after a 26 Cr first weekend.

Bollywood Superstar Aamir Khan has cracked one of the biggest movie markets in the world, China, and how! Even a film in which he played a special role is doing wonders at China box office.After creating a decent market for himself in China with ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘PK’, Aamir created an unprecedented sensation with ‘Dangal’, which collected nearly Rs 1500 Cr there. Its the China collections that helped Dangal beat the unbeatable ‘Baahubali 2’ to take the crown of the biggest Indian grosser worldwide.

Now, Aamir’s latest release, “Secret Superstar”, a film that he produced and played a special role in, became the second Indian movie to collect Rs 500 Cr in China. This musical drama, made on a modest budget of Rs 25 Cr, took just 2 weeks to race past the 500 Cr gross in China, which is faster than Dangal did. Going by the steady run, the film is expected to collect another Rs 200 Cr here in full run.

Interestingly, the China box office helped Dangal to beat Baahubali 2 and ‘Secret Superstar’ to beat ‘Baahubali 1’.

Ever since the biopic of legendary actor and politician N Taraka Rama Rao was announced, there are various rumours that are popping up. In reality, there is no truth in many such gossips. Especially the one related to Nitya Menon has no basis at all.Other day a gossip started doing rounds that cute heroine Nitya Menon was approached to play the role of NTR’s wife Basavatarakam. It was publicized that she was excited about the offer initially but later she walked out of the project. But when we contacted the production houses involved in bringing this biopic on the silver screen, they laughed at rumours.

“Forget about casting Nitya Menon, we haven’t even approached any actress till date for that role. We have a list of actresses ready to be checked for that role, but Nitya is not on the list. It’s high time some media folks should stop spreading these fake rumours” said a source, associated with the production of this film.

Rajiv Kanakala’s mother, veteran thespian, Lakshmi Devi Kanakala, who trained the likes of super stars Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Rajendra Prasad, has breathed her last today (Feb 3, 2018) in Hyderabad due to age-related illness. She is survived by husband Devadas Kanakala, son Rajiv Kanakala, daughter-in-law Suma, daughter Sri Lakshmi, son-in-law Ramarao and grand children.

She had also acted in a few films. She was noted for her role in Prema Bandham where she acted as Jaya Prada’s mother. In Police Lockup, she was seen as mother-in-law to Vijaya Shanti. She also acted as mother to Rajendra Prasad in Kobbari Bondam. She acted in brief roles in Mashtari Kapuram and Oka Vuri Katha.

While her husband Devadas is a popular actor in films, TV serials, her son Rajiv is well-known actor in films, and daughter-in-law Suma is very famous anchor. Lakshmi Devi’s daughter Sri Lakshmi Kanakala is a TV serial actor and son-in-law Peddi Ramarao is a theatre artiste.Tollywood fraternity expressed condolences to Kanakala family. Since Jr NTR and several other actors, directors and technicians are close to the family, many are expected to visit the bereaved family and condole the family members.

Superstar Rajinikanth, who is likely to stop acting soon because of his political entry, has surprisingly written a script. And, its the only 3rd script he has written in his over four decades long career.Tamil actor-filmmaker Samuthirakani, who shared screen space with Rajini in his upcoming film, “Kaala”, revealed that the superstar had narrated him a script and asked him to act in the film. He confirmed that Rajini himself penned the script, but he didn’t divulge anything more about the story.

Considering his busy schedule, Rajini might not direct the film and instead rope in a director to take his story onto silver screen. Buzz is that the film will happen later this year, but Rajini might not act in it.Rajini had written only two films earlier – Valli (1993), in which he also played a cameo, and Baba (2002), in which he played lead role. Both the films failed at box office.

Rajini currently has two films lined up – 2.0 and Kaala. After these, he would act in at the most one film as he would get busy with politics.

After starting her film career with a debacle, “Oka Manasu”, Mega daughter Niharika Konidela had her second release, a Tamil film, yesterday, after over one and a half year. Does the film has mettle to boost her career?

Titled, ‘Oru nalla naal paathu solren’, the Tamil dark comedy starring Vijay Sethupathi, Gautham Karthik and Niharika released across Tamil Nadu on 2nd Feb. The talk is pretty mixed, largely below par. The quirky promos had promised a thorough joy ride and the film offers that insane fun, but only in parts. The summary of the reviewers is that poor writing botched what could have been a cult dark comedy.

Niharika has received good reviews for her charming performance in a limited role. Her ease at portraying a role that has humorous touch received praise. However, the film needs to perform well for Niharika to get noticed by Tamil filmmakers as well as audience. Niharika’s future in Tamil cinema depends on how the film consolidates in coming days.

Shriya Bhupal, Hyderabad-based young fashion designer and the granddaughter of business tycoon, GVK, made headlines a year ago when she got engaged to Akkineni Akhil in a star-studded ceremony.However, their planned destination wedding was called off later for the reasons best known to the two powerful families. Post that, while Akhil got busy with films, Shriya is all set to tie the knot. And, the groom is a cousin of Upasana, Ram Charan’s wife and Mega family’s daughter-in-law.

Karni Sena, the organization which had been protesting against historical movie, “Padmaavat” for more than a year, has now taken a complete U-turn and praised the film, much to the massive relief of the makers.

In an official statement released by the organisation’s national President, “Padmaavat” glorifies the valour of the Rajput community and that every Rajput will feel proud after watching the film. Interestingly, the same Karni Sena had earlier protested against the film saying it ‘distorts history and will hurt the sentiments of Rajputs’. They even allegedly issued death threats to Padukone and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali to stop the film’s release.

On Friday, a few members of Karni Sena watched ‘Padmaavat’ and found that there was no romantic sequence between Deepika Padukone’s Padmini and Ranveer Singh’s Alauddin Khilji characters, a rumor on which they mounted their protests. Following this, they praised the film and also decided to withdraw their protests.

Karni Sena also promised that they will now allow the film to have a protest-free release in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, the key states where the film couldn’t release properly in spite of the Supreme Court’s order.
