Mahesh Babu Finalising New Projects
Mahesh Babu’s “Bharath Ane Nenu” will be wrapped up by next month. After that he will be moving to director Vamshi Paidipally’s movie which will complete its shoot by end of December. What next for him?Of late Mahesh Babu is locking directors a year before the actual shoot. He is signing new films while one film is still on the sets.
He had okayed Vamshi Paidipally’s movie when he was shooting for Murugadoss’ “Spyder”, even before “Bharath Ane Nenu” went on to the sets.Continuing a similar strategy, Mahesh Babu is now looking to greenlit one or two new projects. Sources say he doesn’t want to work with big directors this time after going through the failure of “Spyder”.
He seems to be looking for directors with novel approach and youthful ideas.
Mega Heroes In A Fix
Mega family is surely one family that has the maximum number of heroes working in the industry right now.Of course, till now they never clashed at the box-office, but with so many heroes working simultaneously, it is obvious that the clash was bound to happen.Till recently, they have ensured that their films did not clash at the box-office. But now, a clash has become inevitable.
Sai Dharam Tej’s Inttelligent and Varun Tej’s Tholi Prema are up for release the coming weekend. Since both the films are being released at the same time, it is bound to turn into a headache for the fans as they have to choose between the films. So, it has been decided that the films will release with a gap of one day. However, for films that are supposed to do business in crores, this is barely any consolation. Both the films will have to share the collections.
While things are going smooth for now, such situations are likely to brew up differences between the mega heroes in future. Now mega fans are demanding that there must be a gap of at least one month between summer releases Rangasthalam and Naa Peru Surya.Though the producers of the films haven’t made any comments on the release dates as yet, surely this is a new problem for the mega family.
Looks like in future, the mega heroes will have to consult each other while scheduling their films.
What Is Akhil’s Game Plan?
Akhil Akkineni is two films old, but it appears as if he hit a road block in his career. His first film did not create much impact. So, both Akhil and Nagarjuna took great care when it came to his next film. They took nearly an year to ok the film and waited for the right project despite considering many options. Finally, Hello with Vikram Kumar happened. The Manam director gave a small twist to an otherwise regular story and made Hello in his inimitable style.
But one wrong step cost Akhil and his production house badly. Call it ego or business sense, Akhil’s dad and producer Nagarjuna pitted the film against Nani’s MCA.While Hello hit the screens and failed to excite the audiences, Dil Raju and Nani’s MCA had a good run in the theatres.Well, some feel that Nagarjuna lost out as he could not make the correct estimate for his son’s film.
Hello would have worked wonderfully had the film been made with Rs 20 crore. It would have been a safe project for Nagarjuna. But the budget stretched to Rs 35 crore and the theatrical collections were less than half that amountGoes without saying, this left a dent in Akhil’s confidence. Though he did ok a film while working on Hello, he has now set aside the subject and he is on the look out for a top director to do his next. But there is a catch here too. Since almost all the top directors are busy with films, wonder when Akhil will start off on his third film.
We will keep you posted as ever.
Critics’ Take On Touch Chesi Chudu
Ravi Teja made a successful comeback with “Raja The Great” last year after taking a brief sabbatical. Since he is known for mass entertainers, “Touch Chesi Chudu” made the right buzz.
Here’s what some media people had to say about the film:
Times of India: In Vikram Sirikonda’s ‘Touch Chesi Chudu’, Ravi Teja is meaner and leaner than he ever was, but the script lacks any of the attributes that made him a successful star in the first place. With a shoddy screenplay and an unimaginative storyline, ‘Touch Chesi Chudu’ is a cumbersome watch. But even if you’re a die-hard fan of the Mass Maharaja, you wouldn’t help but feel short-changed after watching the film.Ravi Teja’s dialogue-delivery is still intact, he can still beat up goons, he can still dance in foreign locales but if you’re expecting a good story to be told, I’m afraid you won’t find it here.
Indian Express: Touch Chesi Chudu, which is written by Vakkantham Vamsi and directed by Vikram Sirikonda, is much better than Teja’s previous outing Raja The Great. That is, indeed, a relief.
The Hindu: Watching Touch Chesi Chudu is an energy-draining exercise. One doesn’t take Ravi Teja style of mass masalas too seriously and look for logic. So it wasn’t about a search for cerebral cinema. His previous outing Raja The Great got it right with a few hilarious portions, but this one is pointless. Not one scene lingers at the end of the noisy, yawn-inducing drawl.
The Hans India: Touch Chesi Chudu is the regular mass masala movie that has a routine storyline. Though the storyline is regular, the film has some high and robust voltage mass action episodes.Ravi Teja’s excellent energy levels and comic timing is sure to impress the audiences. There are high chances that the audiences in B and C centers will end up liking the film as the film offers solid commercial content with no boredom.
On the whole, the film Touch Chesi Chudu tried to reach the expectations, and it is a one-time watchable fare.
The News Minute: Vikram Sirikonda’s first major outing as a director barely excites considering the standard template he has chosen from Vakkantham Vamsi, who churns out popcorn blockbusters – for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staid plotline doesn’t really get a lift from the score Pritam (another import) offers. The leading ladies are probably the only ones who can walk away with their heads held high.
Hindustan Times: The film is billed as a popcorn entertainer and is aimed to do well among family audiences.
Firstpost: At a run-time of close to 146 minutes, Touch Chesi Choodu not only relies on your admiration for Ravi Teja’s relentless energy but also tests your patience in sitting through its dull drama. It might very well have been named as ‘Opika Unte Choodu’ (Watch it if you have patience). At least, that would have justified whatever follows after the titles roll in the beginning.
Facebook bans page trying to sabotage movie ratings
San Francisco: Facebook has reportedly banned a page that claimed to have sabotaged a Hollywood movie’s ratings and is preparing to damage the score of other upcoming films on an American review website, media reports said. The group “Down With Disney’s Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys” — which claimed the responsibility of the low score for fantasy film “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” — created an event to hurt the ratings of Disney’s upcoming film “Black Panther” on Rotten Tomatoes, Marvel Studio News reported late on Friday.
According to The Verge, the group also created an event to leave low ratings and negative reviews for another film “Solo: A Star Wars Story” and indicated they would set up additional events for “Avengers: Infinity War” and the company’s Marvel Netflix shows. The group described itself as a pro-DC Expanded Universe — the largest competitor of Marvel Cinematic Universe — and claimed that the poor reviews for Warner Bros’ DC films were due to Disney manipulating the press.
The users on the platform reportedly complained that the group was using bots to further lower the Marvel projects’ ratings and directed other like-minded fans to the page to post negative reviews. Meanwhile, Rotten Tomatoes said that they were proud to have become a platform for passionate fans to debate and discuss entertainment and they take that responsibility seriously.
“While we respect our fans’ diverse opinions, we do not condone hate speech. “Our team of security, network and social experts continue to closely monitor our platforms. Any users who engage in such activities will be blocked from our site and their comments removed as quickly as possible,” Marvel Studio News quoted the website as saying.

Stop Enacting Drama, Mr Naidu!
The YSR Congress party on Friday accused Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu of enacting high dramas with regard to protesting against Centre for the injustice meted out to the state in the Central budget.Party spokesman and senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana blamed it on Naidu for the raw deal given by the Centre in the Union budget.
“It is only because of the indifference of the state in the last four years that the Centre has ignored the state. He has sacrificed state interests for personal gains,” Botsa said.He alleged that Naidu had been shying away from mounting pressure on the coalition partner at the Centre only to save his skin for the various corruption charges and cash for vote case.“He has not shown the kind of commitment we had shown as a responsible opposition party by persistently raising the issues of Special Category Status (SCS), Railway Zone for Vizag and other issues,” he said.
Botsa said not in a single budget did the State Government get things done in favour of the state as it has different and personal agenda to cover up the corruption charges but has no voice to speak about the state interests.“When we were raising the issues, the State was blaming us for trying to create a wedge with the Centre but at the end of the day no tangible results had come about,” he pointed out.
“These theatrics should be stopped. As an opposition party we held dharnas and protests on various counts and the state failed to get even a single issue resolved as it has lost the bargaining power due to the other preferences like placing personal interests ahead of state welfare which were responsible for the raw deal to the state.
The two union ministers, the chief minister had boasted would do all that is needed for the state which has come to a naught,” he said adding that things would only change with the change of guard in the next year elections.
