Arjun Reddy Tamil title Links to RGV?
Arjun Reddy, featuring Vijay Devarakonda, started off as a small film before going on to become the biggest news pieces of this year. In its full run, the sensational film has minted more than 50 Crores at box-office and now, filmmakers from other regional languages are approaching for the remake rights.
Firstly, Tamil actor Vikram announced its remake in Tamil with his Dhruva (debut) in the main lead. Critically acclaimed director Bala is directing it. The makers now came up with a title for the film as ‘Varma’.
This title is grabbing all attention because of the reason that it is suffix of maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who was all praise for the sensational film right from its release. Initially, fans of Vikram expected the title of Tamil version to be ‘Chiyaan’, as the role of Arjun Reddy is close to Vikram’s first film ‘Sethu’. But, the makers came up with a contrast title – ‘Varma’

Fading Star Heroines Forced For Skin Show?
In Bollywood, we observe a trend of heroines breaking stereotypes about going glamorous through photo shoots. A heroine who appeared in quite homely roles suddenly appears in a lingerie or bikini on a magazine cover. From Deepika to Kangana, Priyanka to Shraddha Kapoor, every starlet did the same.
In the south, however, the trend is something very different. Many starlets don’t indulge in such heavy skin show for magazines, until and unless their career is fading away. After losing her stardom, Shriya posed in bra and lingerie for Maxim magazine. Recently Trisha was seen flaunting her curves for Tamil magazine rather hotly. Same is the case with Kajal Agarwal who dared a superior cleavage show for Ritz magazine. Shruti Haasan did similar hot shoots in Bollywood but to no avail.
It looks like either the magazines are picking out about-to-fade star heroines and making them indulge in a never before kind of skin show or the actress who is losing their stand indulging in it. Fans of these starlets are saying that their heartthrobs are forced for such skin show.
However, insiders say, ”Whether these star heroines indulge in skin show at the fag end of their career or beginning, they are charging huge for the same. Either way, they are getting hugely benefitted. These shoots sometimes get them a couple of movies more”.
Picture: Vidya Balan in PM Modi’s tent!
Making an exception to renowned Bollywood actress Vidya Balan, the tourism department of Gujarat allotted her a bullet proof tent which will exclusively be used for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the state. And that’s truly an outstanding reception by Gujarat tourism. Isn’t it? That extravagant and personal tent of Prime Minister contains a sofa unit, television, multi-media players and two bedrooms. Speaking about the experience in Prime Minister’s tent, Vidya said – ‘I feel that I am highly privileged to stay in that tent and it’s an out-and-out luxuriate experience.’
The actress visited Gujarat to promote her upcoming film ‘Tumhari Sulu’, where she will be seen playing a ‘late-night radio jockey’ role, and the film is scheduled to release on 17th November. Also, the Begum Jaan actress recently visited India-Pakistan border to promote the film by meeting Jawans. T-series and Ellipsis Entertainment are jointly producing the film.

Rajasekhar Declares Sequel To His Film
Actor Rajasekhar, who had not given up on striking comeback, made a stellar return in Tollywood with PSV Garuda Vega – thanks to director Praveen Sattaru who laced an engaging script. With scant success, the actor tasted repeated blows in the recent past. This time out has not affected him in any way and he’s now happy after the striking comeback.
So, boosted with blockbuster box-office numbers of PSV Garuda Vega, Rajasekhar declared that there will be sequel for this action thriller. That’s not all- he further announced that he’s planning to bring a perfect commercial entertainer like Allari Priyudu, a super hit film in 30+ years of acting career. The unit members of Garuda Vega were in Vijayawada on Thursday as part of success tour. Speaking on the occasion, Jeevitha said- ‘Garuda Vega is an offbeat movie without routine songs, fights and comedy. I very much love this city as both my mother and mother-in-law are from Vijayawada.’
The film director, Praveen Sattaru, said he is very happy to see Vijayawada developing at a swift pace like Hyderabad. Apart from Rajasekhar and Jeevitha, the event was also graced by their daughters Shivaani and Shivaatmika.
Care of Surya Movie Review
Sundeep Kishan has been juggling between Tamil and Telugu cinema industries for a while. He is trying to get hold on both the markets by not restricting himself to one language. His latest film Care Of Surya is predominantly a Tamil film despite being marketed as a bilingual. Except a handful of actors, most of the cast consists of relatively unknown Tamil actors.
Story :
Surya (Sundeep Kishan) is a catering guy who has a hot blooded friend Mahesh (Vikrant). Surya doesn’t know that his sister is in love with Mahesh. Sambasivudu, a supari killer is hired on a job to eliminate Mahesh. But Surya comes to know about it and makes sure that his friend is safe. However, Sambasivudu is not an ordinary criminal to deal with.
Performances:
Sundeep Kishan is apt in the lead role. He is particularly impressive in the latter half of the film. He gets all the emotions right like a seasoned actor. Mehreen Pirzada has a very limited role and she is alright as the female lead. Harish Utthaman steals the show as the dreaded villain. He is menacing as the baddie but credits to the director for writing an interesting character. Vikrant and Satya are good in their respective roles. Tulasi is over the top and so is the actor who does the police inspector character.
Technicalities:
Suseendran’s script is strikingly similar to his earlier film Naan Mahan Alla starring Karthi. However, his direction lacked the verve and impact that was consistent in NMA. He has handled the action part very well, but couldn’t make it an engaging film on a whole.
Songs are pretty mediocre except for a melody song shot on Sundeep and Mehreen. Background score is impressive. Cinematography is neat and editing is on point. Production values are alright. The film scores on the technical front despite being made on a low budget.
Thumbs Up:
- Second half
- Villain characterization
- Sundeep Kishan
Thumbs Down:
- First half
- Ordinary family and romance scenes
- Unimpressive final face-off
Analysis:
Care of Surya isn’t a bad film after all. It has a few episodes that will engage the viewers with thrilling action. Director Suseendran takes utmost care about the action part in the film, which really makes an impact. However, he couldn’t package the film with equally good family scenes and other aspects like love and friendship.
The story takes an eternity to get to the first plot point. It is only before the interval where things get interesting. Until then it is a painfully boring film without much excitement and entertainment. Second half of the film is much better than the first half as the screenplay races with nail-biting episodes.
The entire process of Sundeep trying to find the whereabouts of the person that is targeting his friend is dealt in a thrilling fashion. There are many twists and turns in the second hour that makes it a different film from the regular stuff. However one has to sit through a boring, plain and bland first half to reach there.
Care of Surya has a decent second half and well written villain character as its core strengths, but only ends up as an average fare because of the uninteresting first hour and poorly etched mother, sister and heroine characters. The film has the potential to be a taut action thriller, but a weak screenplay didn’t let it go past the average mark.
Sundeep has been evolving as an actor with each film and is making interesting choices with the scripts. Suseendran almost pulled off a Naan Mahan Alla (Naa Peru Siva) here, but sadly couldn’t just get there. Let’s see whether it is enough for Sundeep to pull this film to safety or not?
Verdict: Careless Surya!
