First Time, KCR ‘Defeated’ In Opinion Poll

Share

The opinion poll conducted by Telangana Congress on the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s proposal to construct a new secretariat at Bison Polo grounds in Secunderabad received shocking results.

More than 95 percent people opposed the KCR plan to shift the existing Secretariat. They pointed out the new Secretariat in the busy Secunderabad will  create traffic problem. The sports grounds  around the Bison Polo grounds will also lose its existence.

Of 18,460 people who participated in the People’s Ballot,  17,892 (97.13%) hopposed the new Secretariat. Only 387 people favoured KCR  decision to construct a new Secretariat. While 142 respondents remained neutral, 39 votes were rejected as the respondents wrote slogans against the TRS Government in the ballot paper.

TPCC President  N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said  KCR was wasting money in the name of new new secretariat. The  present Secretariat was well equipped and sufficient to run the government.

Mahanubhavudu Movie Review

Share

Maruthi who has successfully made a hilarious entertainer like Bhale Bhale Magadivoi with a protagonist suffering from ‘forgetfulness’, came up with another typical characterization in Mahanubhavudu. Here the protagonist suffers from OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), which puts his love to the ultimate test.

Story :

Anand (Sharwanand) is a software engineer who has OCD. He wants everything to be perfect and clean. He will not eat something made by his mother if she is suffering from illness. Anand falls in love with Meghana (Mehreen), who is okay with his obsession. But things get problematic as Anand’s obsession comes in the way of their love. He is thrown into a situation where he has to overcome his obsession to succeed in love.

Performances:

Sharwanand’s comedy timing is getting better with each film. He is at ease in a typical character that gives ample scope for comedy. He is the right choice for the lead character and did complete justice to it. Mehreen Kaur is alright as the female lead. Her performance is not up to the mark in key scenes. Nasser is decent as the heroine’s father. Vennela Kishore offers few laughs as the hero’s sidekick.

Technicalities:

Maruthi who has messed it up in his previous outing Babu Bangaram made sure to get the characterization and situations right this time. The film’s treatment is similar to that of his previous blockbuster Bhale Bhale Magadivoi. His way of creating subtle humor using the character’s obsession is laudable. Also he is good at creating emotional scenes without going away from the concept. He did a fairly decent job in making it a ‘clean’ entertainer.

Thaman’s music is good. A couple of songs are very good on screen. Background score also is impressive. Cinematography and the production design made it look like a costly project. Editing could have been better in second half. Production values are neat.

Thumbs Up:

  • Comedy
  • Concept
  • Sharwanand

Thumbs Down:

  • Predictable Ending
  • Drag in second half

Analysis:

There are a handful films in various languages about OCD. None of our filmmakers made a film with the protagonist suffering from this disorder. Maruthi likes to create humor with unusual characterizations. He is a fine storyteller who has a firm grip over commercial elements. Like Bhale Bhale Magadivoi, the protagonist in Mahanubhavudu faces problems with his disorder that comes as the greatest obstacle for his love.

Director took his time to establish the lead character’s obsession with cleanliness. He goes overboard at times, but the free flowing comedy keeps the viewers entertained. Later the love story also is dealt in a decent way. The conflict comes at the intermission point where the heroine realizes that it is absolutely impossible to lead a happy life with the OCD guy. The conflict point is predictable and later on it takes the predictable route where the hero goes to the heroine’s village to win her back.

Despite being predictable, the situations in the village are hilarious. Maruthi used the OCD concept very well in making this part an enjoyable one. Every scene in the beginning of the village episode is extremely hilarious. However, things get too predictable as the story moves towards the climax. Electing the village Sarpanch by conducting wrestling match is so nineteen eighties kind of stuff. Climax of the film is not up to the mark. Maruthi should have taken care of the ending that is very much cliched and predictable.

Mahanubhavudu has its share of flaws and weaknesses, but also has ample entertainment to keep the viewers entertained for most part. It is a clean entertainer that can be enjoyed with the families during this festive season. With weak opposition, this film should make the most of festive advantage at the box office. On a whole, Mahanubhavudu is a satisfactory comedy that offers a few genuine laughs. You may watch it.

Verdict: Clean Fun.

Akhil Missed Mahanubhavudu

Share

Young director Maruthi took a U turn from adult comedies and it was with Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, his films witness clean content and healthy entertainment. Young and upcoming actors too have been quite interested in working with Maruthi.

His next outing Mahanubhavudu completed shoot and it released all over today. Sharwanand and Mehreen played the lead roles in the film and Sharwa played a person suffering with a disorder called OCD.

Maruthi revealed that he got the idea four years ago and started working on the script. He narrated it to Akhil and he loved the script. However the film did not materialize. Maruthi wanted to do the film with Akhil but later Sharwa came on to the board.

Maruthi revealed that he made enough changes after Sharwa gave his nod. Mahanubhavudu has been receiving decent response all over and Maruthi is all set to direct Naga Chaitanya in his next which is said to be a clean love story laced with entertainment.

Former India Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s name was removed from the voter’s list. He has been voter in Lucknow Municipality in Uttar Pradesh since four decades.

The Municipal officials confirmed Vajpayee’s name was struck off the voters list. Officials said the former Prime Minister hasn’t been living in Lucknow since 2004. As per rule if a person doesn’t live at local address for over 6 months, name is removed.

The 92-year-old leader represented Lucknow Lok Sabha five times in a row. Due to age related issues, Vajpayee stayed away from casting vote since the 2004 general election.

After quitting the veteran BJP leader active politics, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was representing Lucknow Parliamentary Constituency.

Clash With Star Heroes: Sharwanand Explains

Share

Sharwanand’s Mahanubhavudu is releasing today, without much gap after star hero films Jai Lava Kusa and Spyder. This is not first time when Sharwanand’s films joined the release clash with star hero films, yet come out with profits.

Sharwanand’s few earlier films survived and succeeded at box office, when big films garnered negative talk. His Express Raja and Shatamanam Bhavathi hit screens along big ticket films and ended up as a superhit.

When asked about his release clash with star hero films, Sharwanand simply denies his involvement in release dates. Releasing a movie in festival and holiday season is a good strategy as such season benefits more than two films if they get a positive talk. Sharwanand speaks the same and frankly says that he never intends to lock horns with such big stars.

Though modest Sharwanand rules out being a competition to star heroes, the openings of his films speak loud about his growing image and range. Let us see if Sharwanand’s Mahanubhavudu turns a tough nut for NTR and Mahesh’s films.

How Is Spyder Performing In Tamil

Share

Spyder released with huge hype around, but failed to garner expected response from Telugu audience. According to trade reports, the movie could not break first day records and second day too ended on a disappointing note.

This is all about Spyder’s show in Telugu version, but surprisingly, Tamil version is performing better. The trade sources there reveal that Spyder is getting better response than any other Telugu hero’s film. Tamil critics too gave decent ratings to Spyder and why is it when popular critics in Telugu ruled it out as a disaster?

Murugadoss made the film in a way that it fits to T for a young hero, but not a superstar. Villain dominates in every frame while hero just reacts, but never really could stop him from doing anything. Villain gets elevated and hero’s character remained toned down all through the film.

As Mahesh does not have any star image in Tamil, the audience there are watching it as any other small hero’s film. But fans here expect a lot of heroism from their favorite superstar, the lack of same disappointed them to core. Murugadoss is known for elevating heroism, but his Spyder is a movie on villain leaving Mahesh in a dummy role. Many feel that the movie should have been made only for Tamil release and a dubbed version in Telugu would have received better response.

Son’s Selfie with Gun Kills Minister’s Gunman

Share

In a tragic incident, AP Minister Adinarayana Reddy’s gunman died in a gunfire mishap in Kadapa today.

As per reports, after finishing his duty, Adinarayana Reddy’s gunman Chandrasekhar Reddy went to his residence in Ravindra Nagar, Kadapa. Police officials claimed that the gun had misfired while Reddy had been cleaning it. Although, the bleeding constable was hurried to hospital, he died on the way itself as the bullet rammed directly into his chest.

The locals however differed with the version of police. They said that the gun had misfired when Chandrasekhara Reddy’s son had tried to take a selfie with the gun. The kid accidentally pulled the trigger and a bullet rammed into his father’s chest who was sitting right in front of him, divulged the locals.

Blame the selfie mania of a child or the negligence of a parent in handing a loaded gun to his child, a life has lost and two children have become fatherless.

Just the other day, we reported about a tragic incident where a student had drowned in a pond while his friends had been busy taking selfies.

Spyder’s Two Surprises Are Highly Disappointing

Share

Spyder is out in theaters today and started as a disappointing show. Star director-hero combination could not give a decent thriller, thanks to weak script, logicless scenes and routine formulaic climax fight. Total star cast except Mahesh, Priyadarshi and Rakul is from Tamil films and that too not having atleast one known face disconnects Telugu audience quite a good number of times.

Just few days before the release of Spyder, Mahesh Babu and team revealed few things just not to lose anything due to confusion. One among them is that the robo spider appeared in first look teaser will not be there in actual film and the other one is that there are two surprise elements which were not shown in any trailer, only to keep the hype high. After watching the movie, one must admit that revelation about robo spider is proper damage control and understand the reality that the two surprise scenes were the rolling rock and the hospital collapse respectively.

The scenes that were highlighted as best scenes were actually pictured with poor graphics and are highly disappointing. One rock rolling episode is totally unnecessary and the hospital collapsing scene in climax remains mediocre with poor graphics with hero-villain’s fist fight, which is as old as mountains. If the two disappointing highlights were not the actual surprise scenes we think, then they must be chopped in editing!?
