The entire Tollywood turned towards Teja after he scored three blockbusters in a row with Chitram, Nuvvu Nenu and Jayam. None of his later films impressed the audience, it has been fifteen years and the ace director has been waiting eagerly for a break.

He pinned all his hopes on his next movie Nene Raju Nene Mantri which is touted to be a political thriller. Rana Daggubati, Kajal Agarwal, Catherine and Navdeep played the lead roles in the film which has been carrying enough buzz.

The director has not charged a penny for the film and the producers agreed to share the profits after the film performs well. Teja even confessed that it was because of his poor track record, he could not stick strong about remuneration. The director even revealed that the film will sure impress the audience and he expressed his confidence of bouncing back.

Produced by Suresh Productions and Blue Planet Entertainments, Nene Raju Nene Mantri is clashing with Boyapati’s Jaya Janaki Nayaka and Nithiin’s Lie.

Lie Movie Review – 3/5

Share

Starting from Nithin’s macho look to intriguing posters to interesting promos, Lie has been getting due attention from the film buffs. It is one of the most anticipated movies of the season for a reason. Director Hanu proved that he thinks out of the box and makes innovative cinema. 14 Reels Entertainment has spent a fortune on bringing Hanu’s vision on to the screen. Did Lie live up to the buzz around it?

Story :

Satyam (Nithin) goes to Vegas in search of his fortune. He takes the help of a girl named Chaitra (Megha) to get there. Meanwhile there is a Central Intelligence mission to find the ‘master of disguise’ magician Padmanabham (Arjun). Central Intelligence follows a suit that is ordered by Padmanabham to track him down. As the plot thickens we are in for many twists and turns.

Performances:

Nithin is superb in the lead role. His careless body language and powerful demeanor shows us the unseen side of the actor. His styling is spot on. This will be remembered as one of Nithin’s best performances for sure. Megha Akash is bubbly and cute. Arjun takes the cake with his sensational performance as the antagonist. His characterization drives the film and he is the soul of the movie. Confrontation scenes between Nithin and Arjun stands major highlight of the movie. Sriram and Ravi Kishan are good in supporting roles. Madhu got a meaty role as the main comedian.

Technicalities:

Mani Sharma’s music is impressive. Two out of four songs are very good. Bombhat song is well shot too. Background score of the legendary music composer elevates the drama to a whole new level. Editing is crisp although the second half needs a bit of trimming here and there. Cinematography is excellent. Every frame is rich and striking. Art department did a fine job is getting the locations right. Production values are top notch.

Hanu Raghavapudi’s earlier movies are made on a low budget. It is his first expensive film and he does a commendable job in making it a visual feast. He extracted fine performances from the lead cast and the film is technically slick. Mind games between the hero and villain are done well. Hanu does his best to offer novel treatment with a routine plot of a spy thriller.

Thumbs Up:

  • Nithin
  • Arjun
  • Twists

Thumbs Down:

  • Lengthy
  • Confusing at times

Analysis:

Lie is a typical spy thriller where the police are tracing down an international terrorist. Hanu plays an intelligent game with the introduction of his characters. He uses mythological characters like Indra and Narada to set up the plot. There are numerous references to Hindu mythology and the epics in the narrative.

The director has summed up whole premise of the film into the title Love Intelligence and Enmity. The film starts off as a love story and later moves forward with the intelligent game between the hero and villain. Finally there is a stereotypical reveal towards the end which tells us the enmity between them.

Although it is a typical revenge plot with spy thriller kind of setup, director Hanu plays an intelligent game with the screenplay thus offering many thrills and fun. The story is narrated in an entertaining fashion despite the serious elements like international terrorism and central intelligence. Director used the villain character very well to keep us engaged and guessing.

People who love to watch intelligent spy thrillers will like Lie a lot. On the downside it gets a bit confusing for the common audience, which may limit the film’s reach in B and C centers. It is a bit stretched towards the end and gets on your nerves at times, but there are enough twists to keep the audience engaged. However the love story is too cinematic and unreal. Director should have taken care of it.

On a whole, Lie is not a super entertainer, but it will not entirely disappoint either. On the commercial front it must do well in A centers and overseas.

Verdict: Intelligent Show.

Taapsee supports Heroes, Not Heroines?

Share

Pay disparity is only next to nepotism issue in Bollywood film industry, and Taapsee latest comments might have hurt many female actresses.

When asked about pay disparity, Taapsee in a way supported producers and male actors. Taapsee said that it is totally unfair to ask for pay on par with male actors, while the female actors are not getting equal openings on par with films that usually open with male actor’s charishma and fame.

Taapsee concluded that she is ready to demand huge pay when audience throng to theatres to see a heroine or a heroine in a lead role, and that obviously brings huge openings.

The Anando Brahma actress feels that is is unfair to trouble producers for equal pay, irrespective of her performance or how good the film is unless it is a biggest opener with a woman as hero in it.

Well, linking the opening collection to remuneration seems logical, but many actresses won’t hesitate to torture producers when the film goes a debacle. Is Taapsee among them?

Intimate Scene shown on Popular News Channel

Causing an utter embarrassment to the viewers of world’s most-popular news channel BBC, a news show called Ten had telecasted a raunchy adult content in one of its televisions at the background, while the TV anchor Sophie Raworth was presenting news about England cricket team’s victory against South Africa team in fourth and final test match.

According to reports, around 3.8 million viewers were watching the show at that point of time and a person took to Twitter and asked BBC ‘why there is porn video playing on the background of news anchor during a report?’ – such an embarrassing and unintended moment for the British Broadcasting Corporation headquartered in London.

Quickly, the viral video has gained a lot a lot of attention on social media. It can be seen in the video that an employee of BBC was watching the intimate scene with ear phones plugged in and relaxing back on his chair. In the clip that was running at background, the lady undressed her bra while doing a striptease in front an actor.

Responding to the incident, BBC said ‘this has gone down like a lead balloon at the BBC. It is totally unprofessional.’

As Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attempting to establish strong-relationship between America and India, here is a move that can be seen as a step closer towards achieving it. Going into news, Hyderabad city will host the ‘Global Entrepreneurship Summit-2017′ event that will be attended by daughter of POTUS – Ivanka Trump.

Ivanka Trump, daughter and advisor of US President Donald Trump, will take part in the Summit for which she will be landing in Hyderabad city from 28-30th November. Ivanka, who was personally invited by PM Modi’, will lead the American delegation and on sidelines of the summit, she’s likely to hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister.

Confirming Ivanka Trump’s presence in Hyderabad later this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted- ‘Look forward to Ms. Ivanka Trump’s presence at #GES 2017 Hyderabad as the leader of the US delegation.’ Modi extended his invitation to Ivanka when he met President’s family in White House earlier (June) this year.

This event will mark the eighth edition of Summit, that was started by ex-President Barack Obama in 2010. If you’re wondering how did Hyderabad manage to grab the opportunity to host such a large summit while other cities were too desperate. New Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad were cities that competed to host this global event but finally, capital of Telangana seized the opportunity considering the infrastructure for large conferences and international clientele.

The man in the image was one of the richest and busiest men in India. His name is Vijaypat Singhania and he had built the most-renowned fashion brand- Raymond. The company is now the largest producer of suiting fabric and it’s net worth is $1.9 billion. But, Vijaypat is no more the wealthy person and he’s now facing the financial worries and fighting to earn an own house. He is gone from living in top bungalows to almost homeless.

Yes, his success story has turned into a sad one as Mr. Vijaypat Singhania is now a normal man who’s residing in a rented flat and completely blames his own son and current MD of Raymond group – Gautam Singhania for that.

Going into the matter, Singhania has filed a petition in Bombay High Court seeking the ownership of a duplex in 36-stored JK house on Malabar Hill. According to his lawyer, ‘Vijaypat handed over all his money and properties to son Gautam, who’s now running Raymond like a personal fiefdom.’ So, through a legal petition, the ex-Boss is now demanding a duplex in JK House as per the pre-written deal between him and son Gautam, Veenadevi (widow wife of his brother Ajaypat Singhania) and her sons. As per deal, they will get a 5185 sft duplex each at a price of Rs 9000 per square ft.

The petitioner also alleged that Gautam is attempting to occupy all four duplexes by misusing his powers. So, the advocate has demanded Rs 7 lakh per month from the company for an alternate accommodation. It now remains to be seen this legal battle will turn out to be. The next hearing is on 22 August and the Court asked Raymond group to file its reply by 18th of this month.

This is the riches-to-rags story of India’s wealthiest man back then!

Rana blames anchor for the Publicity Stunt

Share

Rana Daggubati has been spotted promoting for his next movie Nene Raju Nene Mantri. The movie directed by Teja is said to be a political thriller and is releasing between tough competition as Nithiin’s Lie and Boyapati Sreenu’s Jaya Janaki Nayaka are gearing up for the same day release.

Rana for the first time has been completely focused on promotions. During his interview with a leading news channel, the actor has been spotted shouting against the anchor when asked about his association in the drugs case.

However the actor confirmed that it is a part of the publicity and was perfectly planned. The promo was well cut which showcases Rana replying harsh to the anchor. However he turns cool and replies about the cops visiting Ramanaidu Studio for the parcel the actor received from abroad. When asked by one of his fans through twitter, Rana confirmed that it is a publicity stunt.

Kajal and Catherine are the heroines in Nene Raju Nene Mantri which is hitting the screens today. Rana plays a politician and the movie has been carrying huge buzz all over.

We don’t know size of it – Rana

Share

Rana Daggubati is a happy man these days. He has enough recognition in all the Indian languages and is occupied with many interesting projects. The actor even turned host recently with the tv show No 1 Yaari which has been striking decent TRPs all over.

Rana is not in a mood to stop here and he says that he has lot more to explore. Rana responded about the web series, which are slowly making into the Indian markets.

Responding on this, he said “The market is not completely mature for a web series and it takes much time to figure it out.  Television is a great medium and actors like me and Tarak are currently busy exploring it, enjoying it. Web series can be planned in a lakh and we can even budge a crore. We don’t know the size of it”.

Rana’s next movie Nene Raju Nene Mantri has been slated for release tomorrow. Teja is the director and Kajal is the female lead. Rana will be seen as a politician in the film which has been bankrolled by Suresh Productions.

Boyapati’s Baahubali With A New Hero

Share

Ever since Magadheera occurred in Tollywood it became a phenomenon for Telugu filmmakers to attempt something like that. Though many tried, they didn’t succeed in getting epic stories right. And after Baahubali, the urge to deliver such fairy tales has grown big, and here is how Boyapati thinks.

From a time this dashing director is said to be working on a new script, which will be on the likes of Baahubali and Baahubali 2. Massive forts, war sequences, fantasy creatures, fantabulous emotions are what the script has. And then Boyapati reveals he has different plans to take off this film to the production.

“I may direct this Baahubali like a movie only with a newcomer. Because a big hero will bring more hype, which isn’t needed, and that will also suppress the value of content. A young hero will do more justice to the film and I’ve to see when could I take off this film” says Boyapati. Well, it is a Baahubali like movie, then is it safe to venture into it with a new hero or young hero?

Surely Rajamouli played all the commercial cards very well when it comes to casting. He made sure that the film will have all big names such that getting business, getting openings and getting returns will be easier. But now that Boyapati is saying he will go against this plan, we have to see if he will carve out another history sans Rajamouli or will end up like his other colleagues who failed massively.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Gets Android 7.0 Nougat, But MIUI 9 release Is Still Underway

Share

Ever since Xiaomi revealed that its Redmi and Mi smartphones will be updated to Android Nougat-based MIUI 9, there’s a sense of excitement in the air. Users will be welcomed with new features on their old phones, which will make their experience better than before.

Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 rollout will begin in its home country in China, where the company will update the Mi and Redmi series, including Mi 6 and Redmi Note 4X starting August 11. The company revealed a list of 12 models to be updated to MIUI 9 in the coming days, but the Redmi Note 4X has got an early treatment in Greece.

Several users have reported that their Redmi Note 4X smartphones received Android 7.0 Nougat update in Greece. Facebook group called Greek Xiaomi Lovers shared screenshots of Android 7.0 Nougat-powered Redmi Note 4X. The software weighs 1.3GB, making it downloadable over Wi-Fi to avoid data overages. But the much-awaited update isn’t exactly what users hoped for.

While Android Nougat for Xiaomi smartphones is expected to bring MIUI 9, the Redmi Note 4X was updated to MIUI 8.5. But the global variant of the MIUI 8.5 is good news for international users as the MIUI 9 global release is still underway.

According to GizChina, which spotted the update, there aren’t any major visible improvements in the new software, but it includes Google’s July security update.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X was launched in India as Redmi Note 4, but there is no word on when the MIUI 8.5 will arrive in the country. Assuming the rollout has begun, it is only a matter of days before the software starts covering this side of the sub-continent as well.

Once the MIUI 8.5 hits the devices, the next big update is the MIUI 9, which is expected to come with major improvements. Users will have new multi-window options, night mode, bundled notifications, improved security and optimisation for a seamless user experience.

With the MIUI 9, users will also get features like Universal search, Smart Assistant, a redesigned dock bar, Smart App launcher and more. Stay tuned for updates.

Pyongyang Challenge: Should US Shoot Kim’s Missiles Down?

Share

With North Korea threatening to send a salvo of ballistic missiles close to a U.S. military hub in the Pacific, pressure could grow for Washington to put its multibillion—dollar missile defense system into use and shoot them out of the air before they can pose a real threat.

But should it? Could it?

That’s no easy call.

North Korea claims it is in the final stages of preparing a plan to launch four intermediate-range ballistic missiles over Japan and into waters just off the island of Guam, where about 7,000 U.S. troops are based.

Guam is a launching point for U.S. strategic bombers that the North, virtually flattened by U.S. bombs during the 1950-53 Korean War, sees as particularly threatening. U.S. bombers have flown over the Korean Peninsula several times to show American strength after Pyongyang’s missile tests.

Unlike past missile launches that landed much closer to North Korean territory, firing a barrage toward Guam would be extremely provocative, almost compelling a response. Trying to intercept the missiles, however, would open up a whole new range of potential dangers.

The pros

Each missile North Korea launches brings it closer to having a reliable nuclear force capable of striking the United States mainland, or its allies and military facilities in Asia. Kim Jong Un has radically accelerated the pace of the North’s missile development, and many experts believe it could have an intercontinental ballistic missile able to hit major American cities within a year or two.

It already has ballistic missiles that can strike Japan, a key ally and host to roughly 50,000 U.S. troops. It’s very possible the North could attack Japan and U.S. bases there with nuclear, chemical or biological warheads. But the North clearly still needs to conduct more tests to hone its technical skills.

In particular, doubts remain over whether it has perfected re-entry technology for its warheads. It also needs to train its troops to operate effectively in the field to handle nuclear warheads and missiles on short notice.

Shooting down the North’s missiles would hamper its ability to glean the flight data it needs. And if his missiles prove no match for U.S. interceptors, Kim Jong Un might be chastened into thinking twice before conducting any more.

Intercepting a missile over the open ocean has the added benefit of not being a direct attack on North Korea itself. It would send a very strong message but leave more room for de-escalation than a pre-emptive strike against military facilities or other targets on the ground.

The cons

A big problem is that failure would not only be humiliating, but could actually weaken the U.S. position more than doing nothing at all.

The U.S. has pumped billions of dollars into its missile defense systems and sold hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth to its allies, including the very controversial deployment of a state-of-the-art system known by its acronym, THAAD, in South Korea. The U.S. military has also conducted two ICBM interceptor tests since May. Officials called them successes, but critics say they don’t replicate actual conditions close enough to be a fair gauge.

Taking out Guam-bound missiles would require successful intercepts by ship-based SM-3 “hit-to-kill” missiles over the Sea of Japan or land-based PAC-3 “Patriot” missiles on Guam. The ship-based defenses are designed to kill a missile that’s in midflight, while the ground—based ones take out whatever missiles make it through and are in the final stage.

But it’s highly questionable whether either or both would be able to take down the full salvo of four North Korean missiles. President Donald Trump hinted the defense system still needs beefing up on Thursday when he told reporters the U.S. will be spending billions more on them.

A failed intercept would likely embolden the North to move ahead even faster. It could also have a chilling psychological impact on allies like Japan and South Korea, which might seek to build up their own nuclear forces independently of Washington. Rival powers China and Russia, meanwhile, might see the exposed weakness as an opportunity to push forward more assertive policies of their own.

Even if it were successful, a policy of shooting down missiles would undoubtedly raise tensions, and put an uncomfortable squeeze on American allies on the front lines.

Worst of all, if American intentions aren’t clear, an attempt to intercept a missile might be misinterpreted by Pyongyang or Beijing or Moscow and escalate into a real shooting war.

On a technical level, just as the North learns valuable information on its capabilities with each launch, so does the U.S. military. Shooting down the missiles would cut that intelligence off.

Bottom line

If the U.S. were to pursue this strategy, it would have to be hugely confident of success. And it would definitely want its allies fully on board.
