Chinese Army Conducts Live Fire Drills In Tibet

Share

China’s military has conducted live-fire exercises in Tibet amid the ongoing standoff between Indian and Chinese troops at the Dokalam area in the Sikkim sector.

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) conducted live-fire exercises in Southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, state-run China Central Television (CCTV) reported on Friday, without mentioning the exact timing of the drills.

The brigade that conducted the drills was from the PLA’s Tibet Military Command and is one of China’s two plateau mountain brigades, Global Times reported on Monday.

The PLA Tibet command guards the Line of Actual Control (LAC) of the India-China border along several sections connecting the mountainous Tibetan region.

According to the CCTV report, the brigade has long been stationed around the middle and lower reaches of the Brahmaputra (Yarlung Zangbo in Chinese) River which flows into India and Bangladesh and is responsible for frontline combat missions.

The live-fire drills included the quick delivery of troops and different military units working together on joint attacks.

Video posted online showed soldiers using anti-tank grenades and missiles against bunkers and howitzers for artillery coverage.

The video also showed radar units identifying enemy aircraft and soldiers using anti-aircraft artillery to destroy targets. The drills lasted 11 hours.

Separately, Tibet’s mobile communication agency conducted a drill on July 10 in Lhasa, capital of Tibet, where members of the agency practiced setting up a temporary mobile network to secure communications in an emergency.

Earlier reports said the PLA units exercised with several modern weapon systems including a new light battle tank being manufactured by China.

China and India have been engaged in a standoff in the Dokalam area in the Sikkim sector, where Indian troops stopped road construction by Chinese soldiers on June 16.

China has been demanding immediate pull-out of the Indian troops from the disputed Dokalam plateau.

Doka La is the Indian name for the region which Bhutan recognises as Dokalam, while China claims it as part of its Donglang region.

Of the 3,488-km-long India-China border from Jammu and Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh, a 220-km section falls in Sikkim.

South Korea Proposes Military, Family Reunion Talks With North Korea

Share

South Korea on Monday proposed military talks with North Korea this week, the first government-level talks since late 2015, in an effort to halt hostile activities near their joint border and after a series of missile tests by the North in recent weeks.

The proposal is the first formal overture by the government of President Moon Jae-in, who came to power in May pledging to engage the North in dialogue, as well as to apply pressure on Pyongyang to reduce tension on the Korean peninsula.

“We request military talks with the North on July 21 at Tongilgak to stop all hostile activities that raise military tension at the military demarcation line,” South Korea’s Vice Defence Minister Suh Choo-suk told a media briefing.

Tongilgak is a North Korean building at the Panmunjom truce village on the border used for previous inter-Korea talks. The last government-level talks were held in December 2015.

The proposal came roughly a week after Moon said the need for dialogue with North Korea was more pressing than ever to curb Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile programmes.

The vice defence minister did not elaborate on the meaning of hostile military activities, which varies between the two Koreas. South Korea usually refers to loudspeaker broadcasts and other provocations, while the North wants a halt to routine joint U.S.-South Korea military drills.

Moon has suggested hostile military activities be halted at the inter-Korean border on July 27, the anniversary of the 1953 armistice agreement that ended the Korean War.

The South Korean Red Cross on Monday proposed talks with the North to discuss reunions of family members separated during the Korean War. It suggested talks be held on August 1, with possible reunions over the Chuseok holiday, which falls in October this year.

Pyongyang has repeatedly said it refuses to engage in all talks with the South unless Seoul turns over 12 waitresses who defected to the South last year.

North Korea says the South abducted the 12 waitresses and the restaurant manager and has demanded their return, but the South has said the group decided to defect of its own free will.

The North has conducted two nuclear tests since the beginning of last year and missile-related activities at an unprecedented pace.

It conducted the first test of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) earlier this month, claiming to have mastered the technology to mount a nuclear warhead on the missile. South Korea and the United States dispute the claim.

In an act to rein in the North, the United States is preparing new sanctions on Chinese banks and firms doing business with Pyongyang possibly within weeks, two senior U.S. officials said last week.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Release Details Out; Here’s All You Need To Know About Infamous Galaxy Note 7’s Successor

Share

After months of speculations, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is finally expected to break covers next month, CEO DJ Kho confirmed in South Korea.

After the unveiling in late August, Galaxy Note 8 will hit stores only in September, ePrice reported citing Koh at a press meet in Seoul.

Having learnt a costly lesson from infamous Galaxy Note 7 in 2016, Samsung is said to have left no stone unturned to make its successor make a grand entry and also restore fans’ faith on the company’s image. The upcoming Galaxy Note 8 is said to have undergone several safety checks, especially with regard to the battery’s size, placement and charging capabilities.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8: What we know so far

As per the information we have gathered so far, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 series will look almost like the Galaxy S8 series, but with little alteration in the front panel design language. The key change is that the joint between with top-metal panel and the screen of the upcoming device is flat, while the Galaxy S8 series’ joint has curves at the right and left corners.

Another notable difference is that its chassis will not have any physical buttons on the right side. It has a clean frame hinting that the device might have a new touch-sensitive frame technology similar to HTC U11 series, which will be capable of performing functions of physical keys and also be fool-proof enough to stop it from getting false triggered when kept in the pocket.

As far as the screen is concerned, it will have a slightly bigger (than S8+) 6.3-inch edge-to-edge AMOLED display, but with the same 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

On the back, Galaxy Note 8 will keep the fingerprint sensor near the camera like we see in the Galaxy S8, but the former will have dual-camera (vertically aligned).

Inside, it is said to run Android Nougat OS with 6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage options and depending on the region of sale, it will have a different set of CPUs. The Samsung flagship phablet series headed to the US, China, Japan and some select markets will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 CPU. Whereas, the rest of the markets, including Europe and India, will receive mobiles powered by Samsung’s in-house built Exynos 9 series (8895) octa-core System-on-Chip (SoC).

As far as the camera is concerned, there is no word on MP count, but it is said to come with Samsung’s own ISOCELL series dual-camera on the back and a wide-angle snapper on the front.

Samsung is expected to unveil Galaxy Note 8 on August 23 and release it to the market in September.

Chalapathi Rao’s Another Vulgar Talk Against Women

Share

Senior Telugu actor Chalapathi Rao has recently created a ruckus in Tollywood with his derogatory comments against women. He had said that women were good only for bed. The actor has now once again made a regressive comment against women in an interview.

Commenting on the dressing of present day women, he said that women must dress decently or shouldn’t complain when men tease them. He blamed the dressing of women for instigating men towards commenting or teasing them.

When the interviewer asked, why men tease and assault women in sarees if improper dressing is the reason of teasing, Rao said that people have freedom of expression in this democratic country, and women have to move on keeping their heads down.

He crossed the limits of shamelessness when he said that girls are given half sarees after entering into puberty in order to cover their chest. To the disgust of the female interviewer, he made gestures with his hands while making these comments.

Share

Prime accused in the molestation and assault on a popular heroine, star hero Dileep is already counting bars. We have to see if his newest bail petition will get accepted or quashed in the high court as police are completely against it as he could tamper evidence if outside.

Latest updates coming from this case are that police are on the search for a Memory Card that was collected from another accused Pulsar Suni. It is being said that a lawyer of Dileep has collected this Memory Card and he will also be arrested in this case. But the main target is to find that MMS clip of the actress, only then the case would get stronger and stable in the court.

Though police have cracked open a mobile phone of Dileep, the clip was yet to be found, say reports coming from Malayalam media. While another personal number of the star hero is also cracked, that establishes only call timings and presence of the accused nearby the scene of the offense. However, it is the MMS clip that could build this as a stronger case and it has to be unearthed at any cost.

In the mean time, some celebrities who are going head to speak the name of this actress publicly are facing legal troubles though some Malayali media houses are using her name openly. We have to see what happens.

Shamantakamani: An Exciting Ride!

Share

When director Sriram Adittya announced Shamantakamani, there was quite a great deal of anticipation owing to the interesting cast he brought together.

Well, after the film’s release last Friday, it seems the chemistry between Sundeep Kishan, Nara Rohit, Sudheer Babu and Aadi, has left everyone quite amazed, and the anticipations have surely been met! But what makes this film likable is that it doesn’t leave the rest of the characters astray and even Rajendra Prasad and Indraja leave you with a great impression.

In fact, this film is a lot about the characters as it is about the story. Every character is so well etched that it leaves you wanting to know more about them. But what’s the icing on the cake is that every actor owns their role to such perfection that it is quite difficult to imagine anyone else in the roles.

We often see stories of underdogs in a thriller milieu. But this film stands apart because the director has dealt with it very cleverly by adding in the perfect dose of comedy and thrill to it.

In fact, director Sriram really needs to be applauded for choosing to work on a complicated story, and making it simple and easy to understand for a cine goer.

The best thing about this film is that it gives you an escape from routine cinema and makes you excited. It’s fun, engaging and most importantly refreshing. It’s definitely worth the watch.

AP Theatres Houseful, Chennai Theatres Doubtful

Share

From last couple of weeks, whole of Tamilnadu film fraternity is requesting the governments to take back their new initiatives that lead to increasing of ticket prices. However multiplexes have gone ahead after a week and continued ticket-hike as GST commands them to do so. Though there no big protests of Telugu theatres owners in this case, here also almost all the theatres hiked prices.

What’s so stunning is that, ever since ticket rates are hiked, there is a steep downfall in the footfalls in multiplex theatres in Chennai. We hear that only 30 percent seat occupancy occurred in many multiplexes and that indicates people are also protesting the idea of increased ticket rates. But the trend is alarmingly different in Telugu states.

No matter what, what’s the price of ticket or how much it is hiked, there is no such downfall of movie-goers in multiplex theatres of cities like Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Vizag, says a trade observer. Seems like people in telugu states are giving utmost to entertainment rather worrying about the over-the-board payment they have to make.

In a word we could say that AP theatres are getting houseful if the film gets fantastic talk but Chennai theatres are doubtful that people would come in flocks even for a super hit. Are Telugu people not taking ticket-hike seriously? Or Tamil people taking it too seriously?

“Mahaveera” Is Chiranjeevi’s Next?

Share

Apparently for the supposed 151st film, Megastar Chiranjeevi and his director Surender Reddy are leaving no stone unturned to make this magnum opus bigger than the biggest. Tentatively titled “Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy”, the film deals with the story of a freedom fighter (mostly a rebel during British times) of the same name.

Most recently we have seen some politicians giving warning to Chiranjeevi to not use the ‘Reddy’ tag for his film as a title. It’s heard that with Chiranjeevi hailing from Kapu community and playing a big role in the fight for Backward status for Kapu caste, Reddy community is urging him to not use a caste based tag for the title. Though Uyyalawada family are happy with the title, it seems like Chiranjeevi is in two minds now.

Moreover, the title will not find appeal in other languages as the makers are planning a pan-Indian release for the film. For that reason, Chiranjeevi and Co have now turned to another title and it happens to be “Mahaveera”. This title will find a universal appeal like Baahubali and producer Ram Charan is planning to register that on Konidela Productions banner.

Currently, the film’s pre-production work is going on at a brisk pace as the makers are planning for August 15th launch of the movie. While rumours suggested many names for the leading lady, we hear that Nayantara is the chosen one, but it’s not official yet.
