When wild speculations about Nagarjuna Akkineni joining YSR Congress Party started doing rounds recently, Amala and a few other people close to Akkineni family had to condemn the rumors to put a full stop to them. A fresh rumor linking Nag and YS Jagan has surfaced now.

Gossip is that Nagarjuna is planning a film with political background, and that he is contemplating to name it, ‘Anna Vastunnadu’. For the unknown, ‘Anna Vastunnadu’ is a reference used by YSR Congress Party workers for their President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. This title was announced during the recent party plenary.

Reports are wildly circulating in YSRC Party circles that Nagarjuna has requested Jagan to let him use the ‘Anna Vastunnadu’ title for his next film and that Jagan has readily given his consent. As per the speculations, Jagan has asked Nagarjuna to campaign for his party in 2019 Assembly election.

Amidst several media reports indicated that actor Ravi Teja has allegedly received notices from Excise Department in the drug scandal, Ravi Teja’s mother Rajya Lakshmi has finally broken her silence. Responding on the most-controversial drugs case that is rocking the Telugu film industry, Rajya Lakshmi stated that Ravi Teja has no ‘bad habits’ and said that he doesn’t even smoke. She said that Ravi don’t even ‘encourage’ anyone who ‘smokes’.

Rajya Lakshmi didn’t stop. She alleged that Ravi Teja is being targeted and being framed ‘intentionally’ in the drugs case. She said that Ravi is ‘innocent’ and asked media, people to not to ‘tag’ him along with his another son Bharath.

Interestingly, Rajyalakshmi also defended her second son Bharath who was recently killed in a road accident on the ring road. Refuting reports that Bharath ‘was under the influence of alcohol’ when accident took place, Rajyalakshmi said that Bharath had given up all his ‘bad habits’ few days before the fatal accident.

Stating that the final rites of Bharath had happened as per their own tradition, she requested everyone not to intrude into their personal space. She added that Ravi attended his film’s shooting only to avoid ‘losses’ to the producer despite that he lost his brother.

This Dasara, it’s going to get interesting like a Sankranthi at Telugu box office. We have some big ticket films lined up and fans got all the emotions charged for them. Is there any last minute change in the lineup, that will be found later, but here is an early change that could happen.

On September 21st we have Jr NTR’s Jai Lava Kusa coming up while Mahesh Babu’s Spyder is all set for 27th release. Following these two films, Balayya’s 101st movie Paisa Vasool is set for September 29th to hit the marquee. With Jr NTR creating a storm with Jai character’s teaser, this KS Ravindra directorial got all the attention. Same is the case with Murugadoss crafted Spyder as the film’s sci-fi side is impressive. And the combination of Puri Jagan and Balayya itself is pretty amazing, as one is known for power-house dialogues and other one is a ‘baap’ of it. All three films are carrying pretty much big hype only.

But when films’ releases are knitted closely, then there will be a dent in revenues in the present times where ticket-hikes and lack of theatres are affecting collections big time. With buyers are also little worried about the placement of these films, we hear that Paisa Vasool is thinking to pull out of the race. And there are chances likely to advance the release date.

Baabai Balayya’s presence in a week post Jai Lava Kusa release will be a threat to Jr NTR as well. Latest update is that Paisa Vasool will be moved to September 1st as Puri Jagan is confident of wrapping total post-production work by that time. In that case, if Balayya unleashes strength early, two weeks of preponement is likely to help all other films too, but what about those others eyeing 1st September date like Sai Dharam’s Jawan?

Director Sukumar is known for his sweet talks all the time though they are laced with a bit of straight forwardness. However, his comment directed at an upcoming actress other day has lead to a discussion in Film circles as to why he said it in the first place.

During the launch of “Darsakudu” audio launch other day, Sukumar has directed a comment at an aspiring actress Poojitha who is well known in short film circles. He praised her for acting skills, but said, “See Poojitha, I’ve given another big chance to you. You’ve to remember that”. Many are thinking that Sukumar might have picked her for a small role in Rangasthalam 1985 as well and hence this comment. While the actress said “yes sir” in a humble manner, onlookers are reading this comment in other ways.

In a way, it indicates that Sukumar is expecting some reciprocation from the actress as he has given her a chance. But a big director of his stature need not ask that. At the same time, it also indicates that the actress has some ego issues and Sukumar tried to tame it publicly. Well, what is true?

Last evening, a grand success meet of Natural Star Nani’s latest release ‘Ninnu Kori’ was held in Vijayawada. Speaking at the function, film’s screenplay writer and co-producer Kona Venkat has made an interesting revelation about how Nani drank a full bottle of liquor to bring authenticity to a particular scene.

‘Ninnu Kori’ has plenty of emotional scenes but if asked to pick one, many would pick the scene where Nani gets drunk and talks about girls’ choices in front of Aadi and Nivetha Thomas. Nani’s realistic performance in this scene has been praised unilaterally.

Talking about this particular scene, ‘To bring naturality to that scene, Nani drank a full bottle. We were a bit worried but he made the scene look so realistic that it became a highlight of the film. Then I understood why he is accredited with ‘Natural Star’ title,’ said Kona.

Kona Venkat’s revelation made out of sheer excitement and also to praise Nani’s commitment and acting prowess, has now become a hot topic with movie buffs discussing the actor’s drinking habits. ‘How can someone drink a full bottle without being a pro in drinking?’ is the doubt raised by many on social media.

Sunny Leone’s films may not be working at box office but there is no shortage of producers who are willing to invest on her films. Taking this as advantage, a Telugu filmmaker is now reportedly holding talks with potential Bollywood filmmakers to remake a Telugu film.

Sekhar Suri, who directed the sleeper hit of 2005, ‘A Film by Aravind’, has divulged his efforts of having been in discussions to remake his mystery thriller in Hindi with Sunny Leone in lead role. The original Telugu film had Mona Chopra aka Sherlyn Chopra playing a sensual lead character.

Suri is of the opinion that no one except Sunny can do justice to the Hindi remake and hence he has been trying to meet her and pitch the remake idea. If Sunny comes on board, the project will surely get huge attention. The film has an intriguing concept and Sunny’s inimitable oomph will be another advantage.

The Telugu version of the much-awaited TV reality show, Bigg Boss, was finally launched on Sunday in a blistering manner. People in the Telugu states were glued to their TV sets in order not to miss the first ever TV stint of NTR and also to find out what this much publicized ‘Bigg Boss’ is all about. As much as NTR entertained with his energetic performance and screen presence, the ‘unpopular’ and ‘unexciting’ contestants disappointed viewers big time.

Bigg Boss Telugu features 14 participants ranging from faded actors to controversial singers, television anchors to film critics. Actors Archana, Mumaith Khan, Sameer, Prince, Sampoornesh Babu, Siva Balaji, Aadarsh Balakrishna and Dhanraj, singer Madhu Priya, Jyothi and Kalpana, film critic Mahesh Kathi, television artist Hari Teja and anchor Kathi Karthika are the 14 contestants selected to stay in the Bigg Boss house for 70 days.

After a stylish entry and stunning dance performance of NTR to his popular song ‘Don’t Stop’ from ‘Nannaku Premato’, viewers were eagerly waiting to see who the contestants were.

With NTR introducing each ‘unexciting’ participant, the interest of viewers continued to deplete. ‘Of the 14 selected contestants, just 3 or 4 names are worthy of paying attention to,’ was the summary of response on social media.

Their performance in the fist episode also looked quite artificial and unconvincing, and they looked quite unprepared for ‘Bigg Boss’ kind of reality show.

The first show may manage to get good TRPs thanks to NTR and the curiosity but how long these contestants hold the interest of viewers is highly doubtful.
