Plenary Review : Only Satisfies Jagan’s Ego

Share

Opposition YSR Congress Party has attempted something that it hadn’t done before – party plenary. While this seems to have brought certain seriousness to YSRCP as a political party, what’s clearly lacking is substance. Going by the speeches of its crucial leaders, the sole purpose of plenary is to demean CM Chandrababu Naidu and his government. And YSRCP need not have a reason to take on government. It blindly blamed Naidu for everything – good or bad – in his government. Quite literally. Too much play of words, phrases, trying to please galleries, but little did Jagan or his leaders realise that it would all backfire and comeback to them. Going by its plenary, Power is the sole aim of the party. And the only approach it found is to defame Chandrababu.

Plenary is to discuss the functioning of party, its achievements for public, its movements and issue-based, objective criticism of government. But what YSRCP plenary offered was total opposite. So, what is plenary for? To curse Naidu. Its evident when its party senior leader Ummareddy Venkateswarlu caught red-handed on camera while he was passing Jagan’s orders to Roja to ‘abuse’ Naidu. This was quite open and left Jagan red-faced. Right from Sharmila to Jagan to all its leaders, everyone took a dig at Naidu.

If it’s not enough,Jagan Reddy has released a book on Chandrababu Naidu’s corruption where he alleged that Naidu is involved in a whopping 3.75 Lakh Crore of corruption and Jagan didn’t stop there. He went onto dub Chandrababu as the ‘Emperor of Corruption’. These are evoking laughs as the money that Jagan quoted was far far higher than the total of state’s budget in the three years of TDP rule.

These are just a drop in an ocean. Kodali Nani, Roja, Radha and many leaders of YCP just stuck to personal comments limiting the whole plenary to Jagan’s personal rivalry with Naidu. The whole purpose of plenary seem to be about power, politics, party and Prashant Kishore. It apparently least bothered about people and policies. Looks like, it all helped Jagan to satisfy his ego while his leaders belittling Naidu, TDP. The moot question is whether the plenary has any impact on the image of YSRCP in people or not.

Jagan Shows Immense Faith In Prashant

Share

YSR Congress party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy has declared that he has a lot of faith in the abilities of political strategist Prashant Kishor and expressed confidence that the latter would help the party come to power in 2019.

Jagan introduced Prashant at the party plenary meeting being held in Guntur on Sunday.

Speaking in this regard, YS Jagan said that Prashant Kishore would lend his support to YSRCP to sweep away Chandrababu Naidu and TDP’s rule from the state and win the 2019 elections.

Mentioning that Prashant had backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 2014 elections, Nitish Kumar’s victory and even in Punjab with Captain Amarender, the YSRCP Chief said that now his party will be garnering the support from the political strategist for the 2019 elections and take directions with his expertise.

Naidu Can Cook Only One ‘pappu’ Lokesh!

While it was Y S Jaganmohan Reddy all the way at the two-day plenary of the YSR Congress party that concluded in Amaravati on Sunday, the highlight of the session was his sister Y S Sharmila, who showed up at the party meeting along with her mother Vijayalakshmi after a long time.

Sharmila, who took the mantle of the party when Jagan was in jail between 2012 and 2013, evoked thunderous applause from the party cadre when she addressed the plenary.

Introducing herself as the daughter of Rajanna and sister of Jaganana, YS Sharmila in her speech said that YS Rajasekhar Reddy proved himself as farmers’ favourite by introducing schemes including waiver of loans, waiver of power dues, free power supply and focusing on Irrigation projects.

She further said that during YSR rule, poor people were given free houses, patients were given life through Arogya Sri and 108 while also introducing fees reimbursement scheme.

Mentioning that Jagan was following the footsteps of YSR theoretically, Sharmila said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu cheated students, farmers and DWARKA women with his false promises.

Speaking at the YSRCP Plenary meeting being held in Amaravati on Sunday, Sharmila said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu cheated the people of AP during the elections in 2014 but now the public is aware of his falsehood and he cannot come to power again in the 2019 elections.

Citing a Telugu proverb, Sharmila said Chandrababu can’t cook the dal except the one and only dal – Pappu in Telugu while calling Nara Lokesh as ‘Pappu’.

She concluded her speech by saying that the strength of YSRCP is the faith people have on Jagan and that the future of Andhra Pradesh is YSRCP.

Jagan promises liquor ban in AP if voted to power in 2019

Y S Jaganmohan Reddy-led YSR congress today virtually released its manifesto for the 2019 Andhra Pradesh elections promising among other things to make the state liquor-free in a phased manner.

Delivering the valedictory address at the YSRC’s two-day plenary at Nagarjuna Nagar this afternoon, the YSR Congress president asked the party rank and file to take the newly-coined slogan “Anna Vastunnadu…Bhavishyattu Manade” (‘Elder brother is coming, future is ours’) to every household in the state.

Jagan, currently the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly, announced a nine-point agenda for his future government wherein he promised a slew of sops to farmers, women, students and pensioners.

“The future is ours. Once I become Chief Minister, I will bring back the golden rule of our late leader (and his father) Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. Tell this to everyone in the state and ask them to be assured of it.

“I have a strong desire to become the chief minister. I want to rule (the state) for 30 years in a manner that will make every household keep my picture, along with that of my late father, after my demise,” Jagan said.

The YSRC chief accused incumbent Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of “betraying” the state after making “false promises” ahead of the 2014 elections.

“A case in point is the loan waiver for farmers. Though the farmers’ debt burden was over Rs 87,000 crore, Chandrababu waived only Rs 11,000 crore and even that amount was not fully paid (to banks). But, as soon as I become CM, I will distribute Rs 50,000 to each small and marginal farmer holding less than five acres of land,” he said.

Jagan said a Price Stabilisation Fund with Rs 3,000 crore and a Calamity Relief Fund with Rs 2,000 crore would be created to aid farmers in distress.

He also said the women self-help groups would be given Rs 15,000 crore.

Jagan said the liquor prohibition would be enforced in three phases, beginning with the complete eradication of belt shops (unauthorised vends in villages), followed by a vigorous campaign listing the ills of liquor consumption.

“Simultaneously, we will increase liquor prices to such a level that only crorepatis will be able to buy it. And then we will ban liquor completely in the state,” he said.

He said the social security pensions would be enhanced to Rs 2,000 per beneficiary from the current Rs 1,000.

At the plenary, Jagan formally announced the appointment of Prasanth Kishor as the political strategist of his party.

“Like he helped Narendra Modi become Prime Minister in 2014, Kishor will guide us to victory in 2019,” he told his party cadre. (PTI)

JC Denied To Board Flight

Share

TDP MP from Andhra Pradesh JC Diwakar Reddy had faced bitter experience in Hyderabad airport. He was denied to board a flight owned by True Jet Airways at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

He came to airport to fly off to Vijayawada and approached the Airways authorities to buy a ticket but the officials turned down the MP request.

As there is no option, the TDP leader left the airport without any argument. Reddy has been barred from flying the flights of Air India, Spice Jet, Indigo and Jet Airways for attacking the office of Indigo airlines in Visakhapatnam airport recently.

Do You Know! These Celebs Are Not Telugus

Share

Any film industry anywhere in the world will have actors coming from different backgrounds, language and culture playing the roles on screen. Telugu industry is not an exception when it comes to boasting talents from different states and regions.

What’s so shocking is that audiences don’t even know that some celebrities are not even born Telugu or nowhere close to Telugu until they got their first chance here. In the olden days and now, heroine Jamuna is looked up as a big Telugu icon after Savitri, but she’s a born Kannadiga. At the same time, character artist Sudha, who is popular for playing mother to many heroes, is a Tamilian. Fluent Telugu anchor Suma is a Malayalee and Charmi who speaks fluent Telugu is not a Hyderabadi but shifted to here from Mumbai for a film career.

The likes of Prakash Raj and Pavitra Lokesh also hail from Kannada though they have settled down here in Hyderabad, making it their second home. Hero Raja who has already quit films is also Tamilian who could speak Telugu fluently due to his stay in Vizag.

One twist is that actress Pragathi who is popular for her mother roles is known in the industry as  Tamil girl who used to fly here earlier from Chennai. But she’s a Telugu lady who is born and brought up in Hyderabad. Dot.

NTR – Puri. What’s Wrong?

Share

The latest news rocking T-town is the alleged rift between Puri Jagannadh and Jr NTR.  Buzz is that Puri has stolen an idea from Puri’s script and used it for his ongoing Jai Lava Kusa. Talk is that Puri had narrated a story to Tarak sometime back that is pretty close to Jai’s character shown in the teaser. After seeing the teaser, Puri was said to be shell-shocked. Apparently, Puri lost his cool and created a huge scene on the sets of his ongoing film Paisa Vasool.

Puri had reportedly described Jr NTR as ‘Script Chor’. Sources close to Puri revealed that Puri’s story too feature a character with shades of Ravana that NTR got excited. Although both wanted to work for it, it didn’t materialise due to alleged creative differences. NTR had apparently suggested some changes in it to which Puri said no and this said to have put the project on the backburner.

A leading English daily has reported the whole issue claiming that the source was from Puri’s camp. When it contacted director Bobby, he quashed them as rumours and stated that it was his idea to have stammer for one of the characters. He said that he is not aware of anyone discussing similar to Tarak and added that the film would speak for itself. Meanwhile, both Puri and NTR remained tight-lipped on the issue. More details are yet to furnish.
