Sivaji Raja is a Joker, Slams Senior Actress

Share

Sivaji Raja, senior character artist and current president of MAA (Movie Artistes’ Association), came under rant from senior actress Tulasi. Without mincing words, she slammed him saying he is a joker, clown.

She took to Twitter to rant against Sivaji Raja. Tulasi who acted as lead actress in many films is more famous for her role as child artiste in K Vishwanath’s evergreen classic “Shankarabharanam”. She is now playing mother roles.

Tulasi recently launched ‘”Shankarabharanam” awards and presented the awards in Hyderabad in a big event.

She invited big stars like NTR Jr to grace the ceremony but none of them turned up. Tulasi is now blaming that Sivaji Raja influenced actors not to attend her event.

Tulasi accused Sivaji Raja of using his power as MAA President in wrong way.”Santosham Suresh and he have stopped celebrities attending our Sankharabharanam awards”, she tweeted.

Students of over 50 Hyderabad schools, colleges found taking drugs

Share

Hyderabad: Authorities here have asked as many as 27 colleges and 26 schools to take steps to check use of drugs by their students after a probe found that over 1,000 students, some of them as young as 13 are using ‘high-end’ drugs like LSD and MDMA, an official said on Wednesday.

Advisories were sent to the educational institutions including prestigious international schools and engineering colleges following sensational finding by the Prohibition and Excise Department.

Announcing the arrest of eighth accused in the drug racket, Enforcement Director Akun Sabharwal told reporters that letters were sent to the heads of educational institutions, having sizeable number of users.

Without naming the students addicted to drugs, the letters have asked the principals to keep an eye on erratic/deviant behaviour of the students. They were also advised to monitor the areas around the school as some shops were being used for selling the drugs.

The managements of schools and colleges were also asked to counsel the students on the dangers of using drugs. As children of the rich and influential were found to be spending big money on buying the narcotic substance, parents and teachers have been advised to keep a watch on use of money and credit/debit cards by their wards.

The investigators found that students of even classes eight and nine were using drugs. As they were also found to be communicating with drug peddlers and suppliers, parents and teachers were asked to monitor their use of mobile phones.

The investigations also revealed that students including girls are in touch with peddlers through social media apps. In one of the messages sent through WhatsApp, a girl informed the supplier how the drug gave her a high and sought more of it.

Sabharwal announced the arrest of Brendon Ben, who was taken into custody on Wednesday morning. A graduate in hotel management, he was working with an event management company.

All accused arrested so far were peddlers and all of them were well educated. People from film industry, hospitality, and MNCs were allegedly involved in the racket.

Calvin Mascarenhas, who was the first to be arrested, is a musician and former bank employee. Another accused Abdul Quddus, who did his MBA in Australia, was working with an MNC. A start-up owner V. Nikhil Shetty and yoga instructor V. Ravi Kiran were among the other accused.

“The department has not arrested anyone who is a user or consumer, although a legal offence under Section 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act is made out,” said Sabharwal.

He proposes to hold a meeting with principals/correspondents of almost 80 schools of Hyderabad on July 14. A similar meeting is proposed with colleges.

The department has also set up a toll free number(1800 425 2523) so that citizens/parents/ teachers/students who have any information regarding drugs can pass it on. It promised to keep their identities confidential.

Sabhrwal said the department was also making efforts to extend the fight against drugs from enforcement to education or awareness. “Awareness videos are being produced which would be circulated in media, on WhatsApp/Telegram groups and sent to schools & colleges for use,” he added.

Shatamanam Bhavati is the biggest hit in terms of Return on investment basis and Khaidi No. 150 has set Non-Baahubali record by collecting over Rs. 100 crore share from Telugu language alone.

Nenu Local and Rarandoi Veduka Chuddam turned out to be super hits by giving good returns to their buyers and films like Ghazi, Guru and Kittu Unnadu Jagratha are among the handful of hit films that Tollywood has produced in this year thus far.

Duvvada Jagannadham that was recently released is hovering around the average mark at the moment. It is still running on shares but achieving hit status looks unlikely.

Andhhagadu, Ami Thumi and Keshava movies are among the average grossing films that did well in select centers.

Om Namo Venkatesaya, Mister, Winner, Katamarayudu, Cheliya, Rogue, Babu Baga Busy, Fashion Designer and a few other notable films ended up as huge failures.

RGV Not Confirmed For NTR’s Biopic – Lokesh

Share

A day after news went wide about the biopic film on legendary actor-cum-politico NTR, with Balakrishna as lead and Ram Gopal Varma as its director, AP IT Minister and Balakrishna’s son-in-law Nara Lokesh has offered his comment on it, while speaking to media this afternoon. And he also made an interesting revelation about director of the film.

The young politician of AP said that he and Balakrishna had brainstorming discussion and reached a conclusion about this biopic in Portugal recently, where the actor is busy filming for Puri Jagannath’s ‘Paisa Vasool’. ‘I think Mamayya garu (Balakrishna) will be able to do complete justice for NTR role and he can pull it off quite effortlessly,’ said the national in-charge of Telugu Desham party.

Nara Lokesh, who was asked about the project being directed by RGV, exuded confidence in the project irrespective of who the filmmaker is. ‘We have not yet finalized on the director, but I’m very sure that it will be a sure shot hit with any filmmaker at helm.’

Although several filmmakers of Tollywood are in the race to make a biopic on Sr NTR, Ram Gopal Varma had been projected by media after the filmmaker released a video clip on NTR with his vocals glorifying the legacy of legendary Telugu person. Now that Lokesh unleashed that fact that RGV is not yet finalized, fans and audiences are waiting to listen about it from officially.

An Arrow Towards Infinity: What’s It Akhil?

Share

Young hero Akhil and his Vadina are jointly endorsing one shopping-mall brand in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. On the eve of the inauguration of the new branch of this shopping mall, both have attended the event to cut the ribbon.

Apparently, when extended his hand to cut the ribbon at the event, a newly etched tattoo on his right hand caught the attention of many. He got an arrow carved, whose head is pointing towards an infinity symbol. Is this a permanent tattoo or something made for his new film under Vikram K Kumar’s direction? That’s something Akhil has to reveal.

On the other hand, Akkineni stars are becoming the big tattoo bearers of Tollywood already. Long back Nagarjuna got an ‘Om’ symbol etched on his bicep. Then we have Samantha having the letters ‘you’ as a tattoo on the back of her neck, while her waist features a ‘rose’ image tattoo. Then both Naga Chaitanya and Sam got an arrow tattoo etched on the side of the wrist, whose Latin meaning is ‘forward’.

Of course, tattoos are a craze not just among film celebs but in urbane youths too. In olden days people used to look them down as ‘pachha bottu’, a thing of illiterates. But trends have changed now.

Pawan Creates Another Non-Baahubali 2 Record

Share

Pawan Kalyan may not have scored a hit after Attharintiki Daredi (2013) but this has never reflected on the business of his films. In fact, his films have been steadily raising the bar of Telugu films’ pre-release business.

After creating several non-Baahubali records with ‘Sardaar’, Pawan’s upcoming film in the direction of Trivikarm is setting up non-Baahubali 2 records with its humongous pre-release business. Rights of all areas are being sold for phenomenal prices.

As per the latest reports, The Ceded rights of #PK25 have been sold for a non-Baahubali 2 record sum of Rs 16 crore. There is no need to give an example of Pawan’s fan following among mass audiences, and Ceded being a mass area, producer of #PK25 has made the most out of Ceded area rights.

Pawan’s stardom coupled with Trivikram’s brand value is giving confidence for buyers to bet huge on this film despite there is no clarity on the film’s release date (an off-season release, most likely).

Charan – Murugadoss – 2.0?

Share

A few years ago, reports emerged that Mega producer Allu Aravind was planning a huge project in the combo of Pawan Kalyan and AR Murugadoss. The project hasn’t materialized for some reasons, but fresh reports are now coming out that Murugadoss may direct Ram Charan.

Lyca Productions, which is bankrolling Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’, is reportedly planning to enter the Telugu film industry with a biggie. It is heard that they have zeroed in Ram Charan as he commands huge market in the Telugu states and has potential market in Tamil Nadu too if the project is directed by a star Tamil director. Who else can be a better option than AR Murugadoss to make Telugu-Tamil bilinguals.

The maverick filmmaker is currently directing Mahesh Babu in ‘Spyder’. After this, he will direct Tami star hero Vijay. So, a project with Ram Charan and Lyca may shape up after Vijay’s film. The discussions are in very nascent stage and it is too early to talk about Charan-ARM combo, which can create a storm in Telugu and Tamil film industries if materialized.

Meanwhile, Charan is yet to take a call on his next film. Koratala Siva is a potential contender as Charan is reportedly planning to go back to commercial genre after Sukumar’s film.

Ileana D’Cruz, who claims to be an accidental actress, has in a recent interview opened up about how she got her first film, ‘Devadasu and why she had to fled from the country during that film’s promotions.

“I started modelling at 15, and because of the few ads I did, I fortunately got a Telugu movie offer.  I was 15 then and I signed the film just because the director told me that the film will be shot in America over 45 days. Actually, I was thinking in my head that I was getting a Free trip to America,” Ileana revealed how she accidentally landed in film industry.

“I remember telling my director that I couldn’t act but he had conviction in me. At that time, I could speak neither Telugu nor Hindi. I used to communicate on sets in only English. During promotions of Devadasu, when they asked me to interact with media, I had a panic attack and I fled the country. I pleaded my director to leave me alone for a few weeks. After all that, I didn’t expect people to like me but they did,” she confessed.

“After the film’s release, I was taken to a theatre (Devadasu film) to see the audiences’ response. I expected people to throw chappals at me, and I was surprised as people accepted and liked me. Even before that film was released, I had signed another film and before that released, I had signed another.. and it became a process. I never planned my career,” added the Goan beauty who went on to become a top actress in South in no time.

Ravi Teja On Camera: Media Irritates More

Share

For the first time ever since the death of his beloved brother Bharath, hero Raviteja has come in front of media cameras to clarify some stuff. But that too turned another irritating interaction for the happening hero with some media folks repeatedly irritating him.

“Some people have written and published that we’re not interested in Bharat and got his final rites performed by a Jr artist. That’s quite wrong. Please don’t resort to such irresponsible and insensible reporting. My uncle (dad’s brother) and younger brother took care of the cremation. Me, my dad and mom haven’t turned up there because we don’t want to see the blood-soaked face of Bharat. That’s it”, said Ravi Teja.

But media people went on asking him why he’s posing in a smiling manner in a selfie clicked on the sets of “Raja The Great” shooting next day. “I’ve attended the shoot next day because it’s tough for a producer to set combination dates, and huge money will be wasted if shoot didn’t happen. It’s not that I’m not feeling sad for the loss of my brother”, he added.

As some media folks repeatedly kept asking (and saying) what’s wrong in reporting what they have seen clearly at the cremation site, Ravi Teja requested everyone with folded hands to not spread false words about their family. In a jiffy, he has left the place, as media’s questions started turning more irritating.
