Naidu Out Of Presidential Race!

Now, it is official. Contrary to the speculations doing rounds in some media circles, Union minister for Information and Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu will not be the candidate for the post of President of India, elections for whom will be held in July, if necessary.
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday formed a three-member committee, in which Venkaiah Naidu is a member.
The other two members are Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Finance Minister Arun Jaitely. This committee will talk to other political parties to find a consensus candidate.
Since Venkaiah Naidu himself is a member of the committee, he cannot be considered the candidate for the Presidential polls. So, he is out of race for the coveted post.
The Presidential election will be held on July 17. President Pranab Mukherjee’s term ends on July 24.
The BJP has so far not given any indication about its likely nominee but opposition parties including the Congress have held parleys to find a consensus candidate.
The opposition parties want that the candidate should be one who should be able to protect the Constitution, implying the choice should be a secular person.
The opposition has also said that if a consensual candidate does not emerge, they will field a candidate “who will steadfastly defend the constitutional values”.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi has initiated moves to bring the opposition parties on a common platform for the election.
Gandhi earlier this month constituted a 10-member sub-group of representatives from opposition parties to take forward the deliberations and discussions on the election.
Telangana’s GSDP Grows By 10%

Hyderabad: Telangana’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) grew at 10.1 per cent during 2016-17, compared to the national average of 7.1 per cent year-on-year growth, said state Minister for Industries and Commerce K.T. Rama Rao on Monday.
Releasing the annual report of the industries and commerce department, he said the state achieved impressive growth of three per cent above the national average.
The GSDP grew (at constant prices) to Rs 5.11 lakh crore. The growth rate was 9.5 per cent in 2015-16.
Rao said the share of Telangana’s economy in national GDP has increased by 7 basis points to reach 4.28 per cent in 2016-17.
He said Telangana’s per capita income in 2016-17 was Rs 1,58,360 against the national average of Rs 1,03,818.
The state made significant progress in all sectors, thanks to various initiatives taken by the government in a short span of three years, said the Minister, who is the son of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
He said TS-iPass (Telangana state industrial policy) launched in June, 2015, generated Rs 73,000 crore in investments and created 8 to 10 lakh direct and indirect jobs. He claimed more than 50 per cent of the industrial units have commenced production.
The Minister also launched the logo and website for Telangana Industrial Health Clinic Ltd (TIHCL), an industries’ initiative for revival and growth of sick manufacturing MSMEs.
The initiative will be supported by the state government, high net-worth individuals, financial institutions and industry stakeholders.
Frustrated with Naidu, Shilpa to join YSRCP

The hide-and-seek game between the Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress party for the forthcoming by-elections to Nandyal assembly seat seems to have come to an end finally with senior Telugu Desam Party leader Shilpa Mohan Reddy deciding to join the opposition party.
Shilpa, who used all his pressure tactics to secure the TDP ticket for Nandyal bypolls, is said to have become frustrated with the dilly-dallying attitude of party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
While Shilpa told Naidu that he had every right to get the party ticket, because he had contested the Nandyal elections in 2014 assembly elections against Bhuma Nagi Reddy, whose death had caused the by-elections.
However, with Bhuma along with his daughter Akhila Priya joining the TDP later, Naidu is compelled to consider giving the party ticket to one of the family members of Bhuma, since sympathy factor works in that area.
And Akhila who joined the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet, has been actively campaigning in Nandyal on the ground that it was her father’s constituency.
As a result, Shilpa had no option to find his own ways of securing political future. So, he has decided to join the YSR Congress party after securing an assurance that he would be given the YSRC ticket for Nandyal. In all probability, he might join the YSRC on Wednesday.
It does mean, it would be role reversal in Nandya by polls now: Bhuma family which won the seat on YSRC ticket in 2014 will now contest on the TDP ticket.
On other hand, Shilpa who contested Nandyal elections in 2014 will now be contesting on YSRC ticket!
First Look: Sundeep & Mehreen in C/o Surya

Bringing down the curtains on the film’s title and the first look posters, south sensation hero Suriya has unveiled both the title and first looks of Sundeep’s next ‘Care Of Surya’. The interesting posters see Sundeep in a new dimension. It’s learnt that Sundeep will be seen as a common man who overcomes the hurdles that come his way.
Lucky mascot Mehreen Pirzada, of Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha, has been cast opposite Sundeep. The Telugu-Tamil bilingual is being helmed by Suseenthiran who shot to fame in Telugu with Karthi-starrer Naa Peru Shiva.
Although the film is going to have a simultaneous release in both languages, producer Chakri Chigurupati (of Swamy Ra Ra fame) is adopting a different strategy. The first look of Telugu version is going to be different from the first look of Tamil version. D. Imman, who has scored music for Vijay’s Jilla, has composed music for Care of Surya. The shooting part has been wrapped up and the makers want to promote well before releasing in both languages.
Will the film overturn Sundeep’s fortunes? That we have to wait and see.
