Sabu Cyril aid in his latest interview, “‘Baahubali’ is undoubtedly the biggest project of my career. It was like working on 10 Projects at a time, and it was very tough. But, I loved working for part 1 and I’m loving it even more for part 2. People thought that most of the sets erected for Baahubali were VFX, and that’s where the success of my work lies. I have given up the chance to work for ‘Robo 2.0’ to work for ‘Baahubali 2′”.

prachanda

Maoist chief Prachanda was on Wednesday elected by lawmakers as Nepal’s Prime Minister for a second time. The 61-year-old leader promised to lead the nation toward economic development and work as a bridge between communities following deadly protests over a divisive new Constitution.

Though Pushpa Kamal Dahal — better known by his nom de guerre ‘Prachanda’ (the fierce one) — was the only contender for the top post, he had to go through the voting as the Constitution requires the Prime Minister to prove support of the majority lawmakers in the House.

The CPN-Maoist (Centre) chief, known for his anti-India stance, was elected Prime Minister with 363 votes in favour and 210 against him. Out of the total 595 members, 22 did not vote. He was backed by the largest party in the House, Nepali Congress, constituents of the United Democratic Madhesi Front and the Federal Alliance and some other smaller parties. Speaker Onsari Gharti announced Prachanda’s victory after the voting.

Ahead of the election, Prachanda had pledged to lead the nation toward economic development while moving ahead with the spirit of national consensus during his premiership.Prachanda will take over as the 39th Prime Minister of Nepal. He has also become the first communist leader to become the Prime Minister twice. He was Prime Minister from 2008 to 2009.

Support from Madhesis

The Prime Minister’s post had been left vacant since last month after CPN-UML chairman K.P. Sharma Oli tendered his resignation.Prachanda won Wednesday’s vote after Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist (Centre) signed a three-point agreement with the Madhesi Front to secure support from the Madhesi parties.

As per the agreement, the government would implement the Madhesi Front’s demands that include acknowledging those killed during the Madhes agitation as martyrs and providing free treatment to the injured besides amending the Constitution to redraw provincial boundary, while the Madhesi parties would support the new government.

Modi’s congratulations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke to Prachanda to congratulate him and assured India’s full support. During the telephonic conversation, Mr. Modi also invited him to India.“Spoke to Nepal’s PM-elect Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ ji & congratulated him. Assured him of our full support & invited him to India,” he tweeted.

Rajnath flown to his hotel in a chopper amid security concerns in Islamabad

RAJNATH

Home Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday to attend the SAARC Interior Ministers’ conference and was flown to a five star hotel in a helicopter amid security concerns arising out of protests led by Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed’s Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) activists, a front organisation of terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).

Activists of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Hizbul Mujahideen, United Jihad Council (UJC) and other such group protested to denounce Mr. Singh’s visit with Saeed leading a rally in Lahore where he attacked Pakistani government for hosting the Indian Home Minister, holding him responsible for the ongoing Kashmir unrest.”We were not expecting that the Pakistani rulers would welcome Singh who is responsible for the killings of innocent Kashmiris,” PTI quoted Saeed.

Mr. Singh, who arrived on a BSF aircraft at the Islamabad airport was received at the tarmac by Dr. Muhammad Faisal, Director General SAARC and South Asia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan. Though there is no convention for a ceremonial welcome for the home minister during a multilateral meeting, in 2010 when the then home minister P.Chidambaram visited Islamabad to attend the SAARC conference, he was received by his counterpart Abdul Rehman Malik at the airport. The Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambawale was also present at the airport.

Mr. Singh was accompanied by three members of his personal staff, including Officer on Special Duty (OSD) B.K Singh. Earlier, a senior home ministry official had said that the SAARC delegation had been scaled down this time as a “cost saving” measure.India has already conveyed to Pakistan that Mr. Singh has threat from various terrorist organisations and that providing security to the minister is the State’s responsibility.

Before leaving for Islamabad, Mr. Singh posted on Twitter, “looking forward to underscore the imperative of meaningful cooperation within the region against terrorism and organised crime. his Conference provides a platform to discuss issues pertaining to security.

Even as Mr. Singh arrived in Pakistan, JuD posted several messages on various social media platforms about the ongoing protests in Pakistan.Pakistan based Geo News quoted Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi that the “possibility of bilateral meeting (with Pakistan) looked bleak.”The Dawn website reported that Tuesday’s session discussed visas and immigration, including plans to reform the visa regime in the bloc.

“Wednesday’s closed-door session with home ministers discussed counter-terrorism as well as strategies to counter human and drug trafficking. Visa reforms on the agenda included a more streamlined and centralised system to process visas between SAARC countries as well as the potential introduction of SAARC Visa Exemptions (SVEs) for three categories: officials, artists and businessmen,” the Dawn reported.

Wednesday’s meeting is preceded by the seventh Meeting of the SAARC Interior/Home Secretaries which was held Wednesday. The focus of the meeting will also be on strengthening networking among police forces of SAARC member-countries and also enhance information-sharing among law enforcement agencies.

Time for a digital spring clean

Share

digital

In this day and age when we all hear about online identity theft, phishing attacks, hackers taking over machines and holding them to ransom, a digital spring clean once in a while is a good idea. Here are some of the things you can make part of your digital cleansing –

Check and change your passwords:

First, you need to ensure you’re not using the same password on multiple internet accounts. Second, you need to use a long, complicated password. Perhaps the best way to manage your password is to use a password management tool. These tools will suggest a strong, random password and you can also use them to change your password regularly. They also work across all your devices making password management a breeze.

Shut down unused accounts:

If you have any old accounts that you don’t use anymore – shut them down. Sometimes older sites might not have updated their security settings making them more vulnerable to attacks. If you’re not using it close it down.

Enable multi-factor authentication:

A lot of internet sites have multi-factor authentication. Simply speaking this means that before you can login to a site you will get a second code on a different device, via email or OTP. If your email, ecommerce site, online bank or any other account you have allows multi-factor authentication – turn it on now and don’t turn it off.

Update your software:

Make sure that your device’s operating system, software and apps are up to date. Especially if the software maker has released a security related update. Software makers are constantly discovering bugs and vulnerabilities in their programs and publish fixes as updates. Doing a quick check for new software and installing the updates is a good idea.

Check your device permissions:

Whether you’re on a desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile make sure you check your device settings. Some devices allow third-party software to change your device permissions or access certain personal data. You want to lock down your settings so that only you can install anything on your device and apps can’t change any settings.

It’s a good idea to brush off your digital life two or three times a year. This keeps things relatively up to date and also means it’s not too onerous. Performing this semi-regular hygiene is easier than you might think and will help keep you safer online.
