Jagan Has Nothing Do With Sakshi Interview

Share

jagan

YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday made it clear to the special CBI court in Hyderabad that he had nothing to with the interview given by former chief secretary P Ramakanth Reddy to Sakshi television channel.

Jagan’s advocates submitted a counter-affidavit to the court on the CBI’s petition seeking cancellation of bail given to him in the alleged illegal assets case. The court posted the case to April 21.

In his counter-affidavit, Jagan said Sakshi had conducted the interview as part of its professional duty.

“All that Ramakanth Reddy had stated was in response to various questions asked by the correspondent. In what way am I concerned with the interview? How can it be construed that I had tried to influence the witnesses?” Jagan asked.

The CBI had argued that Sakshi belonged to Jagan and it had deliberately carried the interview with Ramakanth Reddy, who made several comments against the CBI and its investigation. It was obvious that Jagan tried to influence the witnesses with the interview, the CBI said.

TDP Leaders Lack Decency, Decorum!

botsa

YSR Congress has condemned the remarks of TDP MPs J C Diwakar Reddy and Avanti Srinivas who spoke without any decorum or decency on the office of the President.

“Our leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has met the President Pranab Mukherjee and submitted a representation to intervene in the undemocratic manner in which four defectors were inducted into the cabinet by Chandrababu Naidu.

But the MPs were speaking low about the President saying ‘what can he (President) do other than only offering coffee.’ It is highly condemnable and does not go well in a parliamentary democracy,” party senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana told reporters here on Friday.

“We have to respect the institution of the President and cannot dub if people start pass such derogatory remarks it is blot on democracy, he said adding that the Save Democracy campaign taking up by the Party has been a success.

It is shame on their part to tell that berths were given to defectors as there are no proper persons within TDP ranks, though it is the prerogative of the Chief Minister, the objection lies in picking up turncoats against whom cases are pending with the Speaker for disqualification for crossing over, he said.

“Chandrababu Naidu has been using every forum to criticize YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and even the birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram was used for it. This streak comes out of the fear of our leader’s popularity,” he said.

Who pays you Rs 12 cr for playing less than 60 balls?

sehwag

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, who is infamous for his sarcastic mockery of rival cricketers and people in news, hasn’t spared even his former teammate Gambhir, who has been his longest opening partner for Team India.

Sehwag, who is currently serving as one of the mentors of Kings XI Punjab IPL franchise, has successfully convinced his team management to sign fast bowler Ishant Sharma who earlier went unsold in the auction. During a media interaction, when Sehwag was reminded of Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gambhir’s comments on Ishant, he didn’t think for a second to unleash his witty weapons.

Gambhir had earlier said that he was surprised at Ishant Sharma’s base price and added that nobody will pay Rs 2 crore for a bowler who can deliver a maximum of only 4 overs.

To this comment of Gambhir, Sehwag sarcastically replied, “Who pays you Rs 12 crore for playing less than 60 balls?”.

It may be noted that Gambhir is being paid over Rs 12 crore a season for leading KKR. He is not the one who takes comments light so his reaction against Sehwag’s jibe is expected to come out when these two sides clash in a few days.

Ignored by Local Awards, PC Bags National Honors

‘Pelli Choopulu’, the small budget ‘Baahubali’ of Tollywood, which was ignored at all the local award functions, has been bestowed with two awards at the 64th National Film Awards that were announced today.

Except the Best Comedian Award for Priyadarshi at a recent award event, the critically acclaimed and commercially successful small budget wonder of 2016, couldn’t win a single award so far. Well, what else can we expect from the TFI award functions which are held only to make money rather than to honor the true talent and encourage good cinema.

Tharun Bhascker, the director of ‘Pelli Choopulu’ was so disappointed with the various Tollywood award functions that he wrote a lengthy post on facebook venting out his anger. Ignored locally, the talented debutante finally got his due recognition at national level. Besides his film winning the Best Telugu feature film award, he was also honored with the national award for Best Dialogues.

Aren’t these national film awards for Pelli Choopulu a slap on the face of TFI awards?

Will Mister Revive Vaitla's Career?

Share

vaitla

After two successive disasters in the form of Aagadu and Bruce Lee, Srinu Vaitla is now coming up with Varun Tej’s

Mister. It is a fact that Vaitla had to struggle a lot before getting this project. But it was not just his previous flops that affected Vaitla.

His wife filing a case against him and then the public spat with Prakash Raj lowered his image considerably.

With star heroes not coming forward to work with him because of all these factors, he had to settle for newcomer Varun Tej.

Critics however are lashing out at the trailer of Mister saying it is lacking in energy. Vaitla is unfazed, though.

He says Mister is not your regular commercial kind of cinema packed with punch dialogues but a fee-good entertainer.

He is absolutely confident on the success of the project. So then, will Mister revive Vaitla’s career? We shall know next Friday!

Cheliya Movie Review – 2/5

Share

Mani Ratnam’s latest Tamil film Kaatru Veliyidai is released in Telugu as Cheliya. Starring Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles, Cheliya is a romantic drama set in Kargil war backdrop. The film moves at a snail pace and puts the viewers patience to test. Besides the beautiful visuals and talented lead pair, there is nothing to rave about this boring romance.

Story :

Varun (Karthi) is a fighter pilot in Indian Force. When he meets with a fatal accident, Dr. Leela Abraham (Aditi) treats him. He falls in love with her and she too falls for his charm. Differences crop up between the couple as Varun is short tempered and ill treats her at times. While the romance between them is at stake, Varun goes to Kargil war and gets captured by the Pakistani Army. Now he has to find a way back to India and his girl.

Performances:

Karthi is a very good actor who can fit into any type of character. He is extremely good as Varun in Cheliyaa. His performance in the climax scene is simply superb. Aditi Rao also is a fantastic actress and very beautiful too. The chemistry between Karthi and Aditi keeps the film going. Delhi Ganesh and RJ Balaji are good in their respective roles. Most the of the drama focuses on Karthi and Aditi that rest of the actors don’t get much of screen time.

Technicalities:

Mani Ratnam’s films are technically brilliant and Cheliya isn’t different either. The film is visually stunning and the technical values are topnotch. Mani Ratnam’s mark can be seen here and there, but the director is definitely out of form as he couldn’t make it an interesting romance drama despite the intriguing setup. He clearly falls short of the mark in making a movie that could have been another Roja.

A couple of songs are good on ears and as well as on the screen. Background score is soothing and adds value to the vibrant visuals. Cinematographer Ravi Varma is the hero of this film with his mind-boggling work. Every frame looks like a painting. The movie moves at a very slow pace and the editor couldn’t do much about it. Production values are very good.

Thumbs Up:

  • Karthi
  • Aditi Rao Hydari
  • Cinematography

Thumbs Down:

  • Screenplay
  • Second half

Analysis:

Mani Ratnam tries to make it an interesting romance drama by setting it in the Kargil war backdrop. However, Kargil war is just used as a tool to separate the couple for a few years. Besides that there isn’t much importance to the war. It is primarily a romance drama between two different personalities. Karthi is a lovable charming guy until Aditi falls for him. After that he keeps on hurting her feelings with his behavior and ideologies.

Mani Ratnam doesn’t focus on the character development and directly jumps into the story. He gives subtle hints of the past of the protagonist through dialogue. He also leaves most part of the drama behind as if he wants us to guess what might have happened. First half is passable to an extent due to the unmistakable chemistry between Karthi and Aditi.

Story moves back and forth as Karthi remembers his past while he is captured in Pakistan. Even that aspect doesn’t infuse any interest due to the poorly written scenes between the lead pair. The romance is never touching nor endearing, does it simply test our patience with confusing conversations and characterizations. It is hard to empathize with the lead role as he is stuck in Pakistan because we cannot develop an emotional connect with him.

Second half is a slog. The story refuses to move forward and Mani Ratnam had a great opportunity to make up for the loss with a thrilling climax. One would expect a thrilling climax as Karthi plans to escape from the Pakistani prison. But all we get is a sloppy action scene that seems like a joke. Everything about Cheliyaa is half baked and underdeveloped. It is just an idea made into a film without putting in efforts on the writing table. The result is a painful, boring and torturous romantic drama that will force you to walk away in the middle.

Verdict: Cheli’yawn’

puri

Director Puri Jagannadh, who has missed his chance to direct Chiru’s landmark 150th film, has recently met the Mega Star at his residence. Sources have confirmed that the meet was formal and professional regarding their next collaboration. After Chiru wasn’t satisfied with the second half of Auto Johnny, the film was scrapped. Then Chiru told to have promised to do a film for Puri provided he comes up with a good story.

The latest we hear is that Puri has told Chiru about his Jana Gana Mana. This is a powerful script prepared by Puri in the recent times. It’s a bound script. Sources say that this would be best script from Puri and already the likes of Mahesh Babu, Venkatesh have given their nods. While Mahesh is busy with his pipeline of commitments, Venky feels its budget is higher than his market.

Highly-placed sources added that the film would be a take on India’s social, political conditions and it’s in comparison with foreign countries how they’re moving ahead despite the limited resources. Chiru said to have got excited and he’s considering it. But as of now, this has been kept under the wraps.

If all goes well, Chiru might team up with Puri after his ongoing film with Balayya – Balayya 101.

REVANTH-300x257

Following reports that Telangana TDP Working President and TDP MLA Revanth Reddy would soon quit TDP and join BJP, Revanth has came down heavily on a few newspapers for spreading baseless rumours. Lashing out at them stating that they’re acting at the behest of government and its, Revanth denied of joining BJP.

Revanth also hit out at BJP’s Laxman who stated that the party don’t want to forge alliance with the TDP. Revanth said that the decision lies with Amit Shah and said it’d be discussed by Chandrababu Naidu and Amit Shah. He also pointed at Andhra Pradesh where BJP is part of the ruling government headed by TDP.

Exposing the double standards of the BJP, Revanth said, “Amit Shah criticizes of KCR’s family rule in Telangana and the next day Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya garlands KCR, KTR and hails their ruling as best. Amit Shah laments of corruption in Telangana, and in contrary, Bandaru Dattatreya praises Harish Rao over Irrigation and water-grid and felicitates him. First BJP leaders should stop their double standards and should take a clear stand against TRS in Telangana.”

Revanth Reddy states that he’s keen on joining all the forces against KCR and TRS in Telangana.

OPS Using Jaya's Coffin To Seek Votes

jaya

The election campaign in RK Nagar, the constituency represented by late TN CM Jayalalithaa, stoop to the lowest possible level as the two rival groups are indulged in desperate attempts to claim her inheritance.

The camp of Jayalalithaa’s loyalist O Panneerselvam is carrying a replica of her coffin during their campaign at RK Nagar. They justify their macabre act saying that the coffin represents their demand for an investigation into her mysterious death.

On the other hand, the faction represented by VK Sasikala, Jayalalithaa’s long-time companion, is using an old video of Jayalalithaa in which the audio had allegedly been tampered with. The video now shows her seeking votes for Dinakaran, who was expelled by Jayalalithaa when she was alive. Dinakaran was re-inducted in the party by his aunt Sasikala only after Jayalalithaa’s death.

As RK Nagar constituency is the most prestigious one in Tamil Nadu considering it was represented by Jaya in her lifetime, the two groups of AIADMK are hellbent on winning the by-elections, by hook or crook. Their acts of using Jayalalithaa’s dead body and videos to gain sympathy from people are receiving flak from rational people.
