Vexed with the callous attitude of politicians and some recognized government as well as private organizations in paying municipal tax, the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has released the lost of Top 100 tax defaulters to shame them.

Vijayawada West MLA Jaleel Khan, who became a sensation in the Telugu states with his ‘Physics in B.Com interview, turned out to be the topmost defaulter with a total due of Rs 14.86 lakhs. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani is second in the list with Rs 9.44 lakh dues. Vijayawada central MLA Bonda Umamaheswar Rao is at third place among the public representatives in this dubious list.

Devineni family leaders have also featured in the list which has some govt. institutions including APSRTC and several private schools and colleges.

The VMC could reportedly collect only Rs 71 crore property tax as against the estimated Rs 165 crore. Although the financial year is about to end in less than twenty days, it is disgraceful to report that the property tax collections have not crossed even 50 percent.

VMC is reportedly planning to initiate legal action against the shameless defaulters.

Nandyala MLA and TDP senior leader Bhuma Nagi Reddy’s sudden demise has shocked his family members as well as followers, supporters in Kurnool district. Not many were aware that Bhuma wasn’t quite well and had recently undergone medical tests at a private hospital in Hyderabad. Sources said that only ten days ago, Bhuma had undergone tests at Kims, Hyderabad.

In between, tragedy struck the family on Sunday. Bhuma along with daughters, family members went to Ahobilam temple from Allagadda. After offering prayers at the temple, Bhuma suffered heart stroke while he was on his way to Allagadda and he was accompanied by his close aides. He was rushed to Allagadda hospital and since condition was critical, he was admitted to a hospital in Nandyala for better medical facilities where he breathed his last.

Meanwhile, condolences have been poured in from several quarters. AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, TS CM KCR, TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh, actor-Hindupur MLA Balakrishna, Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad, Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas, actor Mohan Babu and many others. A steady stream of politicians, VIPs are visiting his residence and condoling the bereaved family. Bhuma’s final rites will be performed tomorrow in Allagadda with full honours by state.

TDP MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy died on Sunday after suffering from massive cardiac arrest. After suffering heart attack on Sunday morning, Bhuma was first admitted to Ahobilam and was later shifted to a hospital in Nandyala. Despite severe attempts to treat him, Bhuma succumbed to it. He was a three-time MLA. He was 53 years old.

His wife and former MLA Bhuma Shoba Nagi Reddy died three years ago in a road accident. He is survived by son and two daughters. While elder daughter Bhuma  Akhila Priya is MLA of Allagadda, his younger daughter Bhuma Mounika was recently married.

His last rights will take place tomorrow in Allagadda where his wife was Shoba Nagi Reddy’s last rights were performed. His final rites would be performed with complete state honours.

After suffering a defeat in Manipur Assembly election, Irom Sharmila has decided to quit the politics. Sharmila contested from Thoubal assembly constituency and lost to chief minister Okram Ibobi.

Sharmila floated Peoples’ Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRJA) party after giving up her 21 year agitation against the withdrawal of central forces from Manipur state.

Sharmila said she first thought that she will make one more attempt for the MP elections but later realized that she was just not up for it with regard to contesting another election. She declared that she will leave politics and will never fight another election.

Amidst the dual fight between BJP and Congress in all five poll states of India, which gave an edge to saffron party, a fight in Manipur provided one of the most shocking results on the counting day- for several reasons. It’s the disastrous and disappointing performance of an inspiring lady who has been fighting against the Armed Forces’ Special Powers Act since the start of this century.

Irom Sharmila, the Iron woman of India, who fasted for almost 16 years finally took a decision to contest assembly polls in Manipur and floated a new party called PRAJA (Peoples’ Resurgence and Justice Alliance), but she could have never imagined this dreadful outcome.

Having won the support from Left and Aam Aadmi Party, Irom has contested opposite Congress Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh in Thoubal constituency has just won a measly 90 votes – which left her in shock and Sharmila immediately announced her exit from politics.

‘I continued without even water for 16 years yet, people need to be awakened. They let me down,’ said Irom Sharmila, who looked hurt after the results were announced. People on social media are highly discussing about this Iron lady for putting a brave show and are panning at money, caste and goonda-giri politics that lead to a defeat of this tough Indian woman.

After a neck-to-neck fight between Congress and BJP in the Manipur election, Congress contestants emerged victorious in 28 constituencies while BJP won 21 out of 60. Only the small parties, independents and rebels can make government form in this north-eastern state.

Two members of Opposition TDP including party leader A Revanth Reddy were suspended from the Telangana Legislative Assembly for the remainder of the Budget session for allegedly interrupting the Governor’s address to the State Legislature.

Protesting the suspension, the main Opposition Congress , BJP and CPI(M) staged walk out after their appeals for reconsidering the suspension of TDP members- A Revanth Reddy and S Venkata Veeraiah- was not accepted.

Governor E S L Narasimhan addressed a joint sitting of the Legislature yesterday on the first day of the Budget session. His speech was allegedly disrupted due to sloganeering by these two legislators.

As the House met for the day, Speaker S Madhusudanachary said he had appealed to the members to follow high standards of dignity and decorum and that there are rules to this effect as well. It is not good on the part of the TDP members to conduct themselves otherwise, he said.

Noting that it was decided in the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) to run the House as per good traditions of Parliamentary practices, and that the Speaker had also made an appeal, Legislative Affairs minister T Harish Rao said it is painful that the two TDP members raised slogans during the Governor’s address. He then moved the motion for suspension of the two TDP members which was announced by the Speaker.
