Sindhu Beats Saina in Thriller

Share

The high profile contest between Olympic medalists PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal was the talk of the town ever since the draws for the India Open Super Series 2017 were announced.

As expected, the two best players of the country easily reached the Quarter finals and set up an exhilarating thriller for the semi-final berth. Crowd gathered in good number to watch this epic clash. 2016 Rio Olympics Silver medalist, Sindhu ultimately trounced the 2012 London Olympics Bronze medalist, Saina 21-16, 22-20 in the thrilling contest on Friday.

Both the players looked equally good with deft game plan but a few errors committed by Saina gave the opportunity to Sindhu to seal the match. It was nonetheless a tight game which could have gone either side.

The only other international tournament where the duo clashed was Syed Modi International Grand Prix three years ago. Saina got the best of Sindhu in that clash.

Many people believe that Power Star Pawan Kalyan is a man of his word.  It’s not only a belief but he proves it with his decisions also. It is known that music director Anup Rubens worked with Pawan Kalyan for the first time for ‘Gopala Gopala’.  Pawan gave his word to Anup at the time of ‘Gopala Gopala’ that he will give him a chance in one of his future projects.  Keeping his word he gave him the offer of ‘Katama Rayudu’.

Coming to the present,  there is a talk that Pawan said to have given his word that he will give him a chance again to Anup.  It is known that Pawan Kalyan committed three films after ‘Katama Rayudu’.  Anirudh Ravichander is composing music for Trivikram film.  Thaman has been finalized for RT Neason-AM Ratnam film.  As music directors are already fixed for these two films.. Pawan might give him offer to Mythri Movie Makers film with director Santosh Srinivas.

Surprisingly, there is a widespread opinion that Anup could not meet the expectations of audience and he is one of the main reasons behind the failure of ‘Katama Rayudu’.  In such a scenario..no other hero can think of giving him another chance except Power Star.

Actor Prasanna has a spate of films at different stages of production. While the actor is awaiting the release of Dhanush’s Power Paandi, he has signed his second Telugu film, which will be helmed by BVS Ravi. Speaking to DC from the set of the yet-to-be-titled film, Prasanna says, “Director BVS met me in Chennai and narrated the film. He saw the recent pictures of mine and felt that my toned physique would suit the character perfectly. I play a posh villain in the movie which has Sai Dharam Tej as the hero. It is a potential role for me to perform.” The Anjaathey actor has started shooting for the film a couple of days ago.

“It is a friendly atmosphere on the sets as we have cinematographer Guhan cranking the camera and SS Thaman composing the music. My character in this commercial venture will definitely be one of my best roles. BVS Ravi has shown a lot of trust in me and I am trying to make him proud,” he shares. Talking about his physical transformation, Prasanna reveals, “It was a conscious break for two years and I started working out. I felt that rather than approaching directors for a film, I would give them something to look out for. And it worked out; I’ve got a lot of offers. I still have 30 days of shoot pending for Mysskin’s Thupparivalan and 12 days of shoot left for Thiruttu Payale 2,” he concludes. Prasanna is awaiting the release of Kaalakoothu and Nibunan.

Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are now man and wife!

Life seems to have come full circle for lovebirds Samantha and Naga Chaitanya. The couple’s iconic scene on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York from their first movie together, Ye Maaya Chesave might have stolen hearts — but it seems the spot holds a very special place in their hearts too. Now, fans of the two actors might have to sit down for this… because Naga Chaitanya and Samantha tied the knot last weekend… at the very same place they met and fell in love!

While the couple had to pull a lot of strings to get this elaborate set up done on the Brooklyn Bridge, sources tell us that they were planning this for more than a year. Speaking exclusively to DC, a source close to the family said, “Chai and Sam wanted to make sure that everything was perfect. It was actually quite a huge task to keep this a secret, but they managed to do so. The two always had a special place in their hearts for the Brooklyn Bridge because that’s the time they got close to one another. So when they sat down to decide where they wanted to get married, they instinctively knew it had to be there!”

However, there is hardly anyone in the industry who knows about this development. “Sam and Chaitanya wanted this to be a private affair, so none of the guests disclosed anything. No one could even tell that anything was different because the Akkinenis and Samantha seemed pretty normal at an award function held in the city recently,” says a source. While the wedding was a close affair with only family and really close friends in attendance, the couple plans to host a huge get-together once they head back to the country. Says a source, “It was a rather beautiful affair. It was a Christian wedding and Sam made the perfect bride! She wore an Elie Saab off-shoulder gown with delicate lace, and her veil was simply stunning, while Chaitanya looked dapper in a Giorgio Armani suit.”

What surprised people was the fact that Chaitanya got quite emotional when he saw Sam walk down the aisle. “Chaitanya couldn’t control his happiness when he saw her walk down the aisle, and what made this entire celebration even more special was the fact that Sam was wearing a family heirloom, a diamond neckpiece, that was handed down from generations,” says a source.

Talking about how they pulled off the wedding on one of the busiest bridges in the world, a source says, “Initially it was quite difficult, but they managed to do so… just as DC managed to pull the leg of their readers on April Fool’s Day with this story.” In case you still didn’t get the hint, Happy April Fool’s Day!

Hebah Patel, Bujji bonded on sets of Mister

We had earlier written about how Zbigniew aka Bujji, the Polish boy who has made waves with his rendition of Telugu songs, landed a role in Mister. Apparently, while shooting for the film, the kid was a favourite. But most of all, it was Hebah Patel who was really fond of him.

“She is fond of kids in general and that’s why took a liking to him instantly. In fact, the few days that Bujji was on the sets, she showered him with lot of love. She loved pulling his cheeks and pampering him,” shares a source.

Controversy Over Amala's Yoga Pose

Share

Hot Malayalam actress Amala Paul has got herself into a fresh controversy, courtesy her Yoga postures.

Amala Paul has recently shared a picture on her social media page where she is seen practicing several Yoga asanas. While some fans liked the hot poses of the black beauty, a few others ridiculed her for her callous attitude towards other religions..

In the pic, Buddha’s image is seen in the background. In one particular asana, Amala Pul, a Malayali Christina, is visibly placing her feet on the face of Buddha. This reckless attitude of Paul didn’t go well with devotees of Budha and they demanded her to delete the post and also seek apology for hurting their sentiments.

She has neither deleted the post nor commented on the controversy yet. Celebs need to be careful while sharing pics on social platform as even a little inadvertent act can easily land them into trouble.

On work front, Amala is rumored to have been roped in to share screen space with Balayya in Puri’s film.

Sam's Special Role in Jai Lava Kusa?

Share

Top actress Samantha, who romanced NTR Jr in his biggest hit ‘Janatha Garage’ and three other earlier movies, is reportedly being considered to share screen space with him again in the actor’s new film ‘Jai Lava Kusa’.

The Bobby directorial already has Raashi Khanna and Nivetha Thomas on board. Samantha may be roped in to play a cameo. Makers are reportedly contemplating on adding Samantha to the team to bring good luck as she was part of Janatha Garage, the biggest blockbuster of NTR. Nothing is finalized yet though.

Interim, the shooting of Jai Lava Kusa is progressing at brisk pace in Hyderabad. On the other hand, Samantha is prepping up to share screen space with Ram Charan for the first time in the actor’s new film, a Sukumar directorial.

Rogue Tremors in Balayya's Camp?

Share

With Puri’s latest release Rogue got mixed to poor reviews all over, the tremors could easily felt in Balayya’s camp. While Puri and Balayya’s combination was considered as one of the crazy combination, many in the trade now say it’s expected to hit with Puri’s Rogue and the director’s not-so-good form.

Barring a few trademark one-liners from Puri, Rogue has very little to offer. And Balayya fans also worrying whether Puri would change for their hero or will he continue to focus on style, dialogues leaving content aside.

Even Puri’s last film Ism was a major debacle at the Box Office. With Rogue joining it, naturally, this is now expected to have a great effect on the business of Balayya and Puri’s ongoing film being produced by Bhavya Creations. Anand Prasad is now said to be disappointed with the talk of Rogue. Let’s wait and see.

Guru Movie Review – 3/5

Share

Guru is the remake of Irudi Suttru starring Madhavan in the lead role. The film was a hit in Tamil and its Hindi version was liked by the critics. Venkatesh liked the script very much that he decided to remake it in Telugu. Guru is a faithful remake of the original without any notable changes. Venkatesh’s towering performance as the determined coach is a treat to watch.

Story :

Aditya (Venkatesh) is a talented but failed boxer due to the politics in Boxing Federation of India. He is sent to train women boxers in Vizag and he spots talent in a slum girl named Ramudu (Ritika) who sells vegetables for a living. Aditya lures her into boxing by paying her salary. Ramudu is a natural talent but equally arrogant and stubborn. It takes a lot of time for Aditya to convince Ritika and make her a boxing champion. It the story of a tough coach and a stubborn student with many twists and turns.

Performances:

Venkatesh breathes life into the role of a grumpy coach with unmistakable charm. He is at his very best as the aged coach, who does anything for the sake of the sport he loves. He is so perfect in the character that it is hard to imagine any other actor as Aditya. The extremely impressive newbie Ritika Singh steals the show with a knockout performance. This is the third time that she is cast in the same character, but Ritika shows no signs of disinterest and is as good as in the original. Mumtaz Sorcar as Ritika’s sister has once again come up with commendable performance. Nasser is too good and Tanikella Bharani is effective. Zakir Hussain looks the part. Anitha Choudhary and Raghu Babu are aptly cast as the parents of Ritika and Mumtaz.

Technicalities:

Sudha Kongara didn’t make any noticeable changes to the original script for which she has done a lot of research. Even the dialogue isn’t changed as Sudha wanted to keep the soul of Irudhi Suttru intact. She did a fine job in handling Guru without any hiccups. In fact she has scored better in the emotional scenes in this version.

Soundtrack scored by Santosh Narayanan is strictly average, but the background score is top notch as it builds tension and elevates emotions in key scenes. Cinematographer’s job also is commendable. Editing is crisp without any boring moments. Production values are good.

Thumbs Up:

Venkatesh

Ritika

Screenplay

Emotions

Thumbs Down:

Few lags here and there

Accent used for the female lead

Analysis:

You’ve seen it all if you had already seen the original. Apart from slight changes the script remains the same. Even the dialogue is just a translated version of the original. What’s the striking difference about Guru is Venkatesh’s soulful performance as the aged coach. He is so good with the salt and pepper look and tough body language. His emotions are so honest that you get involved into the journey of Aditya and root for him.

This is the kind of output we get when the lead actor is totally in love with the character. Venkatesh the star never came in between the script and stayed in the background when a young actress like Ritika Singh took the center stage. Ritika is a very fine actress and will surely win hearts of Telugu audience with her terrific portrayal of Ramudu. Both Venky and Ritika make it an engaging watch despite the cliches of a regular sports drama.

The pace slows down in the second hour, but the emotions worked out well and keep us emotionally engaged. The ending is predictable as we can easily guess the outcome despite the drama. Guru isn’t a perfect film, but it is one of the finest sports dramas that are made on Indian screen. Raw appeal and keeping it grounded is what separates it from other sports dramas. People who haven’t seen the original will like Guru and those who have seen it will be satisfied with one of Venkatesh’s finest performances.

Guru is not a regular commercial film, but has enough to keep the audience engaged and entertained. However, films like these usually don’t appeal to the masses as they expect family sentiments and comedy from a star like Venkatesh. If they are willing to accept him as a character without bothering much about his image, Guru can hope for a long run at the ticket window besides the accolades.

Verdict: Well Done Guru

Katamarayudu Effect On Janasena Future??

Share

janas

This Monday happens to be the decider of “Katamarayudu” future at the box office and that’s not so exciting if we have to say. After touching the 40 crores share mark after the first weekend, the film has to paddle all the rough shores and earn 50 crores more to help its distributors get breakeven. That looks like a bleak happening now.

A big comment that is being heard in the film and political circles now is that effect of Katamarayudu is going to take its toll on Janasena Party. Actually, Pawan is recently building up his party and his real-life appearance in Khadi tops and pyjamas is pretty close to how he looked inside Katamarayudu movie. With that coincidence, fans got close with the movie and now that it’s traversing towards a flop show, a negative sentiment is worrying them about Janasena as well.

Another buzz has that Pawan Kalyan listened to none when it comes to Katamarayudu and he took all the creative calls in the way he likes. Now that the film has flopped, in the lines of his previous flick Sardar which was also his creative brainchild, few of his trusted aides are now worried. They are confused if his political policies work or they too suffer like these two films.

Quite surprisingly, another rumour is getting spread that Pawan is not caring about the distributors investing in these movies as he’s moving to Trivikram’s film shoot from April 1st week. That looks like Pawan wants to quickly make some huge savings before he leaps into politics full-time, a critic commented.

What will Chiru speak about Vytla?

vaitla

Director Sreenu Vytla has given two blows to Megastar in the form of ‘Andarivadu’ (2005) and Bruce Lee. What kind of rapport the duo shares now?

After disappointing the mega family two times, Vytla was once again lucky to direct another mega family hero, Varun Tej in his new film ‘Mister’. The film’s audio launch event has been planned on March 29 at JRC Convection Centre in Hyderabad. Megastar Chiranjeevi will reportedly attend the event as chief guest.

Chiru played a cameo in Ram Charan’s ‘Bruce Lee’ as he felt that the film will be very special in his son’s career. Vytla however wasted the opportunity and rumors were spread at that time that Chiru was very disappointed with him.

Now, as the Megastar is attending the Mister audio launch event as chief guest, what he will speak about Vytla has become an interesting topic. Will he resort to soft criticism?

Known to be an astute speaker, Megastar might use his sugar-coated tongue irrespective of what his real feelings might be. Lets wait and see.

Big shock to Jagan! CBI back to work

Share

jagan-3 (1)

In what could be an unexpected shocker to AP’s leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Central Bureau of Investigation has appealed to the CBI special court to cancel the bail of YS Jagan who is accused in the Disproportionate Assets case.

In its petition, the CBI has cited that the Jagan is trying to ‘influence’ the witnesses in the most crucial case and hence asked the court to cancel the bail it granted him.

The CBI court has accepted the petition and ordered Jagan to file a counter before 7 April, 2017.

This comes in the wake of the Election Commission’s recent statement to the Supreme Court that it is in favour of banning the criminals entering legislature for lifetime.

It can be noted that the special CBI court had granted conditional bail to YS Jagan in Sep 2013 after spending 16 months in jail. Jagan was arrested in May 2012 in the alleged DA case when he was the Member of the Parliament. The CBI has listed Jagan as A-1 and accused him of indulging in quid-pro-quo.

Following the directions from AP High Court in 2011, FIR was first registered against Jagan in Aug 2011 by the CBI. On the court’s directions, the CBI had done a thorough investigation and registered 10 chargesheets against Jagan.

Pawan's 'Tagore' In 2019?

Share

chiru-pawan1484829546

Comedian turned producer of high budget movies, Bandla Ganesh is one of the luckiest filmmakers to have got the opportunity of making two back to back films with Pawan Kalyan. The self-proclaimed devotee of Pawan is now reportedly planning another film with Pawan and the director is VV Vinayak.

In his 15 year long career, VV Vinayak has time and again tried to get the nod of Pawan Kalyan but the project never materialized. Now, Bandla has reportedly initiated discussions with Vinayak and Pawan for a powerful mass entertainer with an underlying message for society.

Pawan has already committed for two movies. After Trivikram’s project, he will act in Tamil director Neeson’s direction for the rumored remake of ‘Vedhalam’. We will be in 2018 by the time he completes both these films. Later, the Jana Sena founder will be fully immersed in political campaign in view of 2019 assembly elections.

Bandla and Vinayak’s plan is to prepare a message-oriented mass subject, on the lines of Megastar’s ‘Tagore’, by early 2018 keeping Pawan’s filmy and political image in mind. The story will be laced with Pawan’s ideologies it is heard.
The target is to release the film for Sankranthi 2019, just 2-3 months ahead of Assembly elections. Bandla is aiming to satisfy the mass fan base of Pawan and also take his political image to new heights. If the message is well received by people and the film becomes a hit, it will surely help Pawan and his party in elections.

It may be recalled that NTR Sr has also done message oriented commercial movies right before he plunged into politics. Can Pawan recreate the unbelievable feat pulled off by the late legend?
