At a time when the world is going volatile with USA President Donald Trump making some hard-hitting comments and laws, Telugu people getting attacked by racists and in the name of religion ISIS making its killings, the 89th Academy Awards stage has given something new and different, of course, an answer to many.

For the first time in the history of Oscars, The Academy Awards, a Black person has won Best Director award and then there is this Muslim guy the first ever to win an Oscar in any category. The film “Moonlight” has won three golden statuettes and that stunned the world for its first.

Best Director statuette was given to Barry Jerkins for “Moonlight” and since the commencement of awards in the 1920s, this is the first time a black person has won the award in this category. Similarly, we have Mahershala Ali, a Black Muslim, winning the Best Supporting Actor crown. And that’s the first Oscar ever received by a Muslim community member.

Also, another big feat is that actress Viola Davis, a Black woman, has won Best Supporting Actress award for the movie “Fences” thereby creating a record. She has won the same award at Emmy Awards (given by TV associations) and Tony Awards (given by Theatre people) and now at Oscars (by film personalities).

Of late, Ileana D’Cruz is in news for her relationship with photographer boyfriend Andrew more than her roles. Her hot photos clicked by Andrew have been taking internet by storm but little did they helping Ileana bagging good roles. And of course, Ileana has her own reasons for “turning down” roles.

Talking about the pics she’s sharing on Instagram, Ileana says, “I do it because I really want to share about my personal life on social media and not because it’s some PR activity. I think there’s no point in being on social media and not to reveal anything about my personal life. I don’t think much and it’s just spur-of-the-moment act.”

After rocking in T-town, she moved to Hindi in 2012 with Barfi and she did make her presence left in the film. Yet she hasn’t had a great career in Hindi. She had no release in 2015 and in 2016, she had only one film -Rustom. Definitely, she has slowed down.

Ask her about the gap from 2014 (Happy Ending) to 2016 (Rustom). Pat comes reply. “I decided not to do a film rather than doing a bad one. I felt that it was a better choice. Also, I don’t want to play a glam doll in a commercially successful film. I’d like to do roles that have substance and I wait for them,” Ileana reasons for her gap. She adds that she had turned down many roles, films and says she has no regrets.

Is marriage on cards? “Really, I find it funny when someone ask me that question. What’s the big deal about marriage? I am happy right now, I am in a great space. I think marriage is overrated. When time comes definitely, I’m gonna make it public.”

The teaser of Stylish Star Allu Arjun’s upcoming film ‘DJ’ looks unstoppable as it continues to scale new records on social media. As of now, DJ teaser is sitting next only to Pawan’s Katamarayudu teaser in record books.

It is known that the teaser of Katyamarayudu holds all the records for teasers like fastest to 1M, 2M, 3M etc, most number of views, most likes etc. DJ teaser is second only to Katamarayudu teaser in accumulating fastest views. With 4.97 views at present, DJ teaser will soon reach the half a crore views mark. It is also the only second teaser after Katamarayudu’s to cross 100K likes.

At the same meet, Srikanth confirmed to the family and also viewers glued to TVs that Megastar Chiranjeevi is now going to work on Uyyalawada’s biopic. Giving thumbs up to Chiranjeevi’s decision, the family vowed to give more details about the legendary fighter.

Be it in Bollywood or Southern film industry, Sequels have rarely become hits and we have seen several failed examples in the past few years. Talented Tamil hero Dhanush however is breaking the sentiments by getting ready to act in three sequels, all in 2017 itself.

A sequel to the highly successful ‘VIP’ (Raghuvaran BTech in Telugu) is already under production in the direction of Dhanush’s sister-in-law Soundarya Rajnkanth. Now, the national award winning actor has reportedly given green signal to the sequels for ‘Kodi’ and ‘Maari’.

Released in 2016, ‘Kodi’ (Dharmayogi in Telugu) was a successful venture. Film’s director Durai Senthilkumar has penned another political thriller and has got approval from Dhanush to film it as ‘Kodi 2’.

‘Maari’ on the other hand was a failure at box office. Also starring Kajal Aggarwal, Maari was released in Telugu as Mass. Film’s director Balajai Mohan, who had to sit idle for two years after the failure of this film, has reportedly convinced Dhanush with a subject and the project will be made as ‘Maari 2’. Both the sequels will go on floors this year only.

“La La Land” is one romantic tale that has touched many hearts this year and it’s the favourite at Oscars after it got 14 nominations by The Academy alongside history creators like Titanic and All About Eve that got the same number of nominations.

An interesting and shocking moment happened at Oscar Awards Show on Sunday night (Monday morning) as the “Best Picture” award is being given. Already “La La Land” has stunned everyone with its fantastic run as it grabbed awards for Best Production Design, Cinematography, Original Score, Original Song, Best Director and Best Actress awards as well. And the guest giving away the Best Picture award announced the name: La.. La.. Land!!

That’s it, the three producers of the film along with their leading actor and actress, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, has come up on stage, collected their trophies and also delivered their speeches. But a major glitch is here shocking everyone.

Guests who have presented the award are given a wrong envelope and they have accidentally named La La Land as the Best Picture winner. But it’s the film “Moonlight” which dealt with the story of a gay black guy, that got the award. And the producers of “La La Land” have given back their trophies to “Moonlight” crew before coming down from the stage.

That’s a major goof up, but more than that a heartbreaking moment for La La Land fans. That’s reality, however. Congrats La La Land and Moonlight folks!!

Sometimes we wonder how certain films are made and they lead to various questions swarming the mind.

A beaten to death rubbish story with mindless twists and ridiculous sentiments is projected as a great story with great content and made into a heavy budgeted film. As the film bites the dust at box office, few producers go on saying that they are not fools to come up with pale stories but only the execution part has failed.

Frankly speaking, the stories of these ‘routine’ films are itself a rubbish which generally should not be made into a film. Recently we have similar beaten-to-death story churned out as a silver screen extravaganza only to test the patience of people in theatres. If audiences feel why these type of films are made, again and again, critics feel what are their past birth deeds that cursed them to watch these run-of-mill stuff most of the time.

But those who are aspiring filmmakers with real good stories in hand ask to themselves: “How to catch producers in this way with a stupid story in hand? How to make a happening hero convince with a nonsensical story so easily? How to? How? Hh?”

Probably the directors who are making such silly movies should write a book, or a thesis, on how to catch producers!!

“Like any rags to riches story, i have had my share of hardships, insecurities, failure, rejection, pain, sadness, success, fame and wealth. But, that does not mean i became happier as i became more successful. It took me 7 years to understand how to crack the art of normalcy,” Samantha shared.

“What I have learnt in this time is that all the fame, wealth and success does not necessarily mean all the happiness. The greatest blessing cinema has offered me has been the people it has introduced into my life. people who have influenced my entire being,” added the soon-to-be Akkineni daughter-in-law.

“Cinema gave me your love, love that i hunt onto dearly and desperately in hard times and fondly and gratefully on sunny days. Thank you so very much, will keep loving you all back all my life,” Sam wrote in gratitude.

Finally, hitting back at abusers, Sam said, “people who abuse me on social media spend less time thinking about me than i about them”.
