In a rare development, all head constables in Adilabad district of Telangana were on Thursday given a day’s holiday to watch a Telugu movie.

District Superintendent of Police M. Sreenivas declared a holiday for head constables to enable them to watch the movie “Head Constable Venkatramaiah” with their family members.

The movie is based on the story of a head constable and the character is played by R. Narayana Murthy, described as a “people’s actor”.

The SP said while there were many movies based on the stories with top police officers as heroes, it was for the first time that a film has been made about the good work and honesty of a lower rank official as the central theme.

The policemen hailed the gesture of the SP. There are about 230 head constables in the district.

Cinema theatres in the district also announced that they will screen a free show of the movie Thursday night for head constables and their family members.

The film featuring Narayana Murthy and Jayasudha in the lead was released on January 14.

Ever since the trailer of Vishal Bharadwaj’s “Rangoon” has hit tinsel towns, everyone got stunned by the nude portrayal of seductress Kangana Ranaut in the film more than the period backdrop content and the efforts put in to carve out this movie.

Looking closer at the nude show of Kangana who is seen engrossed in a deep lip lock with Shahid Kapoor and covered with black mud all over her body, even glamour lovers got a shocker. But the recently released video song “Yeh Ishq Hai” features full length visuals of this sparkling chemistry between Kangana and her leading man, which prove something else.

Even from long shot, where a seminude Kangana could be seen, never her face is visible as her short hair elegantly covered it. And that creates a benefit of doubt, if a body double is used to film those long shots and makers have trickily filmed the whole sequence creating an impact as if Kangana herself lying nude there. We have to see what Kangana will say about them.

Set in World War II backdrop under British colonial rule in India, “Rangoon” is a triangular romance between Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Rananut and Saif Ali Khan. Find the film in theatres from February 24th.

As Tamilians are more desperate about conducting Jallikattu event and protesting all over the state to uplift the ban on this bull taming sport, Kollywood celebrities have joined the chorus against PETA, the organisation that moved Supreme Court on the issue.

Other day hero Surya despite being an ambassador of PETA has stated that PETA will lose it in the court of people while it may win in Supreme Court. Similar opinion is being voiced strongly by singer-dubbing artiste Chinmayi Sripada, who is popular in Tollywood as Samantha’s soul, as she dubs for Sam in Telugu.

Pawan Kalyan has reportedly lost his cool on music director Anup Rubens while working for Katamarayudu. Apparently, it was Anup’s fault as the music director wasn’t delivering his work on time which said to have miffed Pawan.

Though proper time has been given to Anup for songs, he kept delayed the songs. For each song, Anup is taking months due to his busy schedule. It’s heard that Anup has another 8 films in hand and working parallelly on other films leaving Katamarayudu aside. This naturally didn’t go well with PK.

As Pawan has to wrap Katamarayudu on time to start his other commitments, at one point, he expressed his anger on Anup and hinted that he would be replaced if don’t give songs on time.

If Salman Khan’s marriage is a never ending mystery in Bollywood circles, a similar conundrum exists in tollywood regarding Anushka’s marriage. However, we are not discussing about her real marriage but reel marriage here.

It is known that Anushka is playing the main leading lady opposite Suriya in ‘Singam’ series. In the first two parts, Anushka could only reach the engagement mandap with Suriya twice but in the third part, audiences will finally get to see their marriage. The ‘Baahubali’ actress will be having a limited role but her lovable wife character is said to be one of the positives of the film.

After the success of the first two parts, the third part is coming up with huge expectations. To improvise the prospects of Khaidi No. 150 at box office, Megastar Chiranjeevi has kept the relay of MAA TV’s Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu on hold, as any slight disappointment with his TV stint will lead to negative impact on his comeback film. Now that his 150th is a stupendous success when it comes to ringing registers, MEK is back in focus.

Apparently, Chiranjeevi has once again started shooting for pending episodes of this Telugu version of Kaun Banega Crorepati. Interesting thing is that, Megastar’s daughter Sushmita is taking care of this program’s costumes as well for her dad. She’s said to have got all the suits and shirts picked, stitched and readied in Chennai. But this is becoming a time consuming process for MEK makers as they have to always wait for clothes bundle coming from the Tamil city to start the shoot.

Balakrishna’s 100th movie Gautamiputra Satakarni is still running with decent collections in the two Telugu states and in overseas. The film has collected a cool Rs.31.55  share from AP and Telangana in its opening weekend.

With a whopping 42.30 crore worldwide share, GPSK has turned out to be Balayya’s biggest hit, surpassing his Legend’s full run collections. GPSK also stands 9th in the list of Tollywood’s all-time highest first week earning movies.

With this phenomenal feat, GPSK is next only to Baahubali, Khaidi No.150, Janatha Garage, Srimanthudu, Atharintiki Dharedi, Sardaar Gabbar Singh, Nannaku Prematho and Sarrainodu.

Top music trio in Bollywood have been reportedly roped in for Prabhas’ next. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, who composed several popular films including Dil Chahta Hai, Kal Ho Naa Ho, are said to be zeroed in on for Prabhas 19.

And the music sittings for the untitled film have begun and going on presently. Sujeeth, of Run Raja Run, fame is going to direct the film.

Though it’s not official yet, it’s learnt that the trio is working for Prabhas film.

Sharing a pic on their social networking page, they posted, “We’re back in the studio working on a top secret project… Keep watching this space for more updates!”

Fans of late NTR and several TDP leaders reiterated the old demand that late NTR should be conferred with the highest civilian award for his outstanding contribution to society.

At a time when neighbouring people in Tamil Nadu are way ahead and strongly vouching for Bharat Ratna to late Jayalalithaa, Telugus are trailing behind.

Except twice a year – birth (May 28) and death (Jan 18) anniversaries of NTR – none of the days, no one voices the demand for Bharat Ratna to the former CM of united AP.

Even these two days, besides raising pitch, none of them actually took this to the logical conclusion. Over the years, the demand for Bharat Ratna to NTR has lost its significance. Even no one has genuinely fought for it and haven’t actively lobbied for the Bharat Ratna for TDP founder.

Since TDP is the part of NDA at centre that is in ruling, it’d be easy if Chandrababu steps up his pressure on Modi. But actually it’s not happening leaving Telugus, especially fans of NTR, disappointed.

Sundeep Kishan is on a downward spiral of late. None of his recent films have had a decent run at the Box Office. Right from Joru to Okka Ammayi Thappa, his films lacked substance and none of them have worked at BO.

Senior Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor, father of young hero Ranbir Kapoor, often makes headline worthy statements. However, this time he has made a startling revelation that exposes not only his dark secret but of the film industry in general.

Speaking on the sidelines of his autobiographical book, ‘Khullam Khulla’ launch, Rishi Kapoor revealed that he had bought the first Filmfare award that he won in 1974.

It may be noted that Rishi Kapor made his silver screen debut as lead actor with his father Raj Kapoor directorial film ‘Bobby’ in 1973. The next year, he won the Filmfare award for Best Actor.

Now, Rishi has revealed the dark secret of buying that award. He added that he later felt ashamed and never again resorted to such award buying act.

Actor-turned-producer Ram Charan chose to skip Khaidi press conference today and it has set the tongues wagging in T-town.

Since morning, it’s widely circulated that Charan would be attending the press meet and even a special ballroom in a star hotel has been booked. But in the eleventh hour, Charan chose to be absent. Charan’s absence to the event became conspicuous and added fuel to rumours surrounding Khaidi collections.

With Charan decided to hide, Allu Aravind who is no way directly connected with Khaidi turned up as saviour and announced that Khaidi grossed 108.48 Crore world-wide in one week.

Despite being producer Charan didn’t face media after the film released. Even after the tall claims of film’s collections, Charan avoiding media is becoming talking point. It can also be recalled that Charan was absent for the first press conference announcing Khaidi numbers.

On other hand, having hold on distributors, none of them are able to get the exact report of Khaidi numbers. Apparently, all the distributors are instructed not to reveal any figures without their consent. And Allu Aravind has become the face of this whole episode.

What’s more is that several questions are being raised by many on why Aravind didn’t announce collections publicly for his own production ventures Sarrainodu, Dhruva and why he is dong it newly for Khaidi?

Looks like, Charan hasn’t come out of his hero tag yet and seems to have forgotten that he is the original producer of Khaidi.
