When buyers of megastar Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi No.150 were dolling out insane amounts for the distribution rights, many thought that they were taking a big risk. However, stunning the entire film industry, Khaidi No.150 has fetched profits to every person involved with the film. So, how much did Chiranjeevi and film’s producer Ram Charan pocketed form this hit film?

As Charan has produced the film, people must think that Chiru might not have taken any remuneration but the ‘Magadheera’ star has reportedly paid the remuneration to his father like any other producer would do. Instead of the remuneration, Chiru was promised a 55-60 percent of the profits and as the film has turned out to be a historic hit, Chiru has reportedly received Rs 32-33 Cr as his share from the profits.

Khaidi No.150 has done pre-release theatrical business of close to Rs 90Cr. Charan has pocketed around Rs 105-110 Cr including the satellite, audio, dubbing and other rights. The first time producer hired top class technicians so excluding Chiru’s remuneration, he had to spend around Rs 50-55 Cr on production and remunerations. Major part of this expense went to Vinayak, Devi Sri, Ratnavelu and Kajal.

Taking out all the expenses from the recovery of Rs 105-100 Cr, Ram Charan was still left with Rs 55 Cr profit approx. This amount is shared between Chiru and Charan in 60-40 ratio leaving the father-son duo with Rs 33 and Rs 22 Cr approx. respectively.

All the buyers have seen decent profits as the film collected Rs 100Cr+ share against Rs 90Cr investment. If doing record pre-release business was itself a big achievement, then recovering such staggering amount is truly a ‘Baahubali’ level of achievement.

With director SS Rajamouli publicly acknowledging his son SS Karthikeya’s hard work as an assistant director for “Baahubali: The Beginning” at the audio launch of the film, everyone understood what this youngster is up to now. But it looks like he’s a confused individual if we have to go by the work he’s doing.

Apparently while working as an assistant director for Baahubali, Karthikeya has started a company named “Showing Business”, where he’s seen carving out special teasers, audio launch videos and other making videos stuff for films. His company worked on projects like Baahubali, Akhil and also Khaidi No 150 pre-release videos. Maybe one would feel that the youngster is showing his editing and creative presentation talents through this work.

And now this assistant director turned creative presentation maker, has taken the onus of film production in a different position. He will be working as Line Producer for Naga Chaitanya’s next film that will be produced by Sai Korrapati. One wonders why did he take this new job except that he missed out a clarity on what to do in the film industry.

Sources have revealed that none other Rajamouli is directing his son this way. At the first Karthikeya worked as assistant director and then did some presentations. Now he will see the film-making work from producer’s angle and that’s what Rajamouli wants him to do. Then only Karthikeya will learn the intricate nuances of film making properly and will go on carving out better films in the future.

Choreographer turned actor-filmmaker Raghava Lawrence, who is known for his charity work, has once again shown his big heart and this time, it is for the sake of his film’s producer.

It may be noted that Lawrence’s upcoming film ‘Motta Siva Ketta Siva’ has been lying in cans for more than six months as the producer was unable to clear the finances. A kind-hearted Lawrence has reportedly given back his full remuneration and asked him to release the film first. Interestingly, the man at the receiving end is no small fish but a senior producer, RB Chowdhary.

Going into details, Chowdhary had bought the Tamil remake rights of Kalyanram Nandamuri’s blockbuster film ‘Pataas’ and partnered with another producer named Madan to make ‘Motta Siva Ketta Siva’ with Lawrence in lead. Because of Madan’s inordinate debts, the film stuck in financial issues and Chowdhary struggled alone for long time to release this Lawrence starrer.

Now, as Lawrence has voluntarily returned his remuneration, Chowdhary has announced Feb 17th as the release date. Interestingly, Lawrence’s another film, ‘Siva Linga’ is also releasing on the same date. Shva Linga was earlier slated for Republic Day release but it got postponed then.

As both the films have their share of postponements, producer of neither film is ready to back off from Feb 17 release. Lawrence is reportedly chalking out plans to ensure his films don’t clash at box office.

Young bollywood hero Varun Dhawan has revealed that Salman Khan had once warned to slap him for calling him ‘Uncle’.

Hyderabad: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao’s second wife Lakshmi Parvathi has threatened to move court if N. Chandrababu Naidu is portrayed as hero in a proposed film on the life of the late leader.

She said on Tuesday that she will not keep quiet if historical facts were twisted in the biopic which Rama Rao’s son and leading Telugu actor N. Balakrishna plans to produce.

Lakshmi Parvathi said if injustice was meted out to the TDP founder, she would wage a legal battle.

She alleged that Chief Minister Naidu “backstabbed” his father-in-law NTR to usurp power.

Balakrishna on Monday announced that he would produce a film on the life of his father NTR, the legendary Telugu actor and three-time Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh.

The actor said he would play the role of his father.

He also said the film would tell the entire story of his father, right from his humble beginning as a farmer’s son, his journey to become a superstar and one of the most popular political leaders.

However, a day after his announcement, Lakshmi Parvathi voiced her doubts on how the film would portray the turbulent events of 1995 when Naidu ousted his father-in-law from power.

Bonda Uma, a leader of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), said Lakshmi Parvathi would be the villain in the film.

“She is a villain in real life and she will be villain in the film too. She distanced NTR from people and everybody knows this,” he said.

In another development, Balakrishna met Chief Minister and TDP President Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada. Naidu, who claims to be inheritor of NTR’s political legacy, discussed with the actor his plans for the biopic.

Balakrishna is also a TDP leader and represents Hindupur constituency in the state assembly. His daughter is married to Naidu’s son Lokesh.

NTR had married Parvathi, his biographer, just before the 1994 elections, which saw TDP returning to power in the state.

However, her growing interference in party affairs and administration led to Naidu staging a revolt in August 1995. He became Chief Minister with the support of NTR’s sons.

NTR had launched a campaign against Naidu for ‘backstabbing’. He died in January 1996 at the age of 72.

Following his death, Lakshmi Parvathi went into political oblivion.

A popular actor, NTR floated the TDP in 1982 on the slogan of “Telugu self-respect”.

Creating a record of sorts, he came to power within nine months of the formation of the party, ending the monopoly of the Congress in the state politics.

With pro-poor schemes like the Rs 2/kg rice and total prohibition, he went on to become the most popular politician in the state’s history.
