Olympic Medals: India 26, Phelps Alone 26
While our Indian Contingent is yet to open account at the Rio Olympics 2016, US swimming champion Michael Phelps, 31, is creating unbeatable records.By winning his 4th gold medal of the Rio Olympics in the 200-meter individual medley event on Thursday night, Michael Phelps has alone Equals India’s cumulative tally of 26 Medals.
The 31-year-old US Swimmer now has clinched a total of 26 Olympic medals, 22 gold, 2 each of silver and bronze. Comparatively, India’s total media tally at 33 Summer Olympics, since its first participation in 1900 Olympics, is also 26 with 9 gold, 6 Silver and 11 bronze medals.
The Rio Olympics has been yet another extraordinary edition for Phelps. With one more individual event is yet to be held, Phelps has high chances of adding another medal to his tally to make Indians look more miserable.
It’s A Record For Balayya On TV!
Even as Nandamuri fans are waiting for the first look of Balayya from Gautamiputra Satakarni with bated breath, the satellite rights of the film have been sold for a staggering price. A leading entertainment channel has bought the film’s rights for Rs 9.15 Crore. And what’s more astonishing is that the TV rights are for the Telugu version alone. When contacted, the source in the production unit has confirmed the development and maintained that the TV rights of the film’s dubbed versions lie with the production house.
So far, only the film’s pre-look was released and the makers haven’t even unveiled the film’s first look. Also the film’s music composer is yet to be roped in as Devi Sri Prasad was shown the door. Yet, the film’s TV rights have been sold for an exorbitant price which is now raising many eyeballs.
These days, TV channels are thinking twice even for star heroes films and not taking a step forward at least till the film’s audio is released. However, defying all these traditions, the satellite rights of the film were sold even before the film’s first look launch. That’s Balayya for you guys! Balayya yet again proved his charisma.
Super Star Detained in USA, Again
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was detained again at the Los Angeles International Airport by the US immigration authorities on Thursday.Sources revealed that SRK was cleared within an hour but in the meantime, the actor kept himself busy playing Pokemon Go and also cracked a satire on twitter targeting at the US immigration authority.
“I fully understand & respect security with the way the world is, but to be detained at US immigration every damn time really really sucks. The brighter side is while waiting caught some really nice Pokemons,” tweeted the baadshah of bollywood.
SRK was detained for the first time at the Newark airport in New Jersey in 2009. Later, in 2012, he was detained again at the New York International Airport for 2 hours. Nita Ambani, wife of Mukesh Ambani, and the rest who were with SRK, were cleared immediately but SRK was stopped by the immigration officials only to give clearance after over two hours.Shah Rukh Khan (a Muslim) might have to change his name to have free passage at the US airports.
Taliban to attack India?
Is Taliban planning for deadly strikes on India on the eve of Independence Day on Aug 15.? Seems so according to Pakistan which issued two warning alerts to Indian government. Pakistan’s top security agency sent alerts stating “Tehreek-i-Taliban’s Fazalullah group is planning to target parade at Wagah Border in Lahore and Ganda Singh Border in Kasur on August 13, 14 or 15,”
The National Counter-Terrorism Authority has asked the Punjab Director General of Pakistan Rangers, the home department and the Punjab (Pakistan) police chief to take high preventive measures to protect the public as well as security personnel.Pakistan’s security alert went on to add “Extreme vigilance and heightened security measures are suggested to avoid any untoward incident,” and Punjab home department issued another alert stating “at least 16 suicide attackers have entered the province” and are planning to target public meetings in India which will be held in connection with the Independence Day.
Punjab now launched massive crack down and arrested many suspects. Lahore Police spokesman Niyab Haider said more than 50 suspects were taken into custody and security is beefed up across the border. Punjab government in Pakistan cancelled all meetings as a preventive measure. Alert also stated that two suicide bombers were sent to hit the targets. It is known that Wagah witnessed deadly terror attack in 2014 which killed more than 60 people and injured 200 others just after the flag lowering ceremony.

Nayeem reportedly threatened a high-profile industrialist who has contacts with top political leaders demanded 75 crores from him. Adding to this, Nayeem continued his criminal acts and threatened an MP asking him to cough up 25 crores.
This was soon brought to CM KCR’s notice who reportedly ordered the police bosses to strictly ‘handle’ Nayeem’s case and the cops bumped Nayeem off in a daylight encounter within 48 hours of receiving the orders.
Interestingly, the cops baited Nayeem by making a DGP who is close to the gangster call him to discuss a settlement deal. Unaware of the police ploy, Nayeem rushed to the spot where the DGP had asked him to reach and found himself in the police trap.

This is one of those incidents which make us wonder if humanity still exists in this world?A 40-year-old man was killed on Wednesday morning after being hit by a tempo in Subhash Nagar, Delhi. Immediately after the accident, the tempo driver got off to take a look at the injured man and instead of taking him to hospital, he drove away.
Police said that the victim lay bleeding on the road for half an hour before they were informed about the accident. In the meantime, many passed by him bit no one had come to his rescue. CCTV footage showed that a rickshaw-puller had stopped by only to run away with the victim’s mobile phone that was lying in the proximity.
The accident took place at around 5:30 AM on Wednesday but it was reported at around 7am. After reaching the spot, Police had rushed him to a nearby hospital but doctors declared him brought dead. They stated that he had died due to excessive bleeding. If someone had reported the incident earlier, he would have been alive.
Police found some documents in his pocket that helped in ascertaining his identity. His name was Matibool, a resident of West Bengal, who drove a rickshaw during the day and worked as security guard at night.Delhi Police, after an exhausting manhunt, nabbed Rajesh, the driver of the Tempo van, based on the CCTV footage procured from the accident site. Rajesh was a resident of Mahavir Nagar in Uttam Nagar area and he has been absconding since the accident.
Govt. cancelled License of 73 TV & 24 FM Channels
In its bid to curb the misuse of media freedom, the government has cancelled the permission of 73 TV channels, 24 FM channels and 9 newspapers and periodicals for violations the regulations in the recent past.Some of the permissions of 73 TV channels have been cancelled as the channels were not operationalized within the stipulated period of a year while others were denied security clearance by the home ministry. 892 private satellite TV channels are currently registered in the country.
The licenses of 24 FM channels have also been repealed for violation of provisions of the grant of permission agreement (GOPA) signed with the government. At present, 196 FM radio stations are operation in India. Through the Registrar of Newspapers of India, I&B ministry has also cancelled the registration of 9 newspapers/periodicals.
“Realizing the need to update and revise the legal mechanism in print sector, owing to phenomenal growth after liberalization of government policies, I&B ministry has initiated the Press and Registration of Books and Publications (PRBP) Bill with a view to replace the existing PRB Act, 1867,” said the information and broadcasting (I&B) minister, Rajyavardhan Rathore. He added that work is in progress towards further tightening norms for the print media.
