Over Rs 100 cr loss for Sex Comedy Movie?
The makers of adult-comedy “Great Grand Masti” ton Saturday said that the online leakage of the film three weeks before its release has “killed” the movie and they have suffered “huge” losses. The release date of the third instalment in the “Masti” series was changed, from July 22 to July 15, due to the online leak.
Director Indra Kumar and film’s cast including Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani and Urvashi Rautela today expressed their displeasure over the dampening effect of leak on its box-office collection.
“It’s a big loss for us. This has happened for the first time when a film is leaked 17 days before its official release. It has killed our film. It’s a tough time for us. We are sad and upset,” Kumar said in a press conference held here.
Vivek claimed, “We are facing huge losses. It’s unprecedented as the film was leaked three weeks before the official release. It must be almost Rs 100 crore loss or even more.” According to the makers, the movie has earned over Rs 2 crore at the box office on its opening day.
They have already filed a complaint with Cyber crime cell and that the investigations are on in full swing.
“The government and police officials helped us a lot by taking action against those who were selling pirated DVD. By this we could curb physical piracy, but digital piracy was not in our hands. We hope we get compensated once the perpetrators are booked,” said Hitesh Jain, legal aid of film’s producer Balaji Motion Pictures.
Riteish revealed that it was through one of their fans that they learnt the film was leaked online.
“We were at IIFA awards when we saw a fan posting an image from the film and it had ‘For Censor’ written on it. We initially thought it’s a movie still but later learnt that the film was released online,” Riteish said.
“We immediately informed the producers and we all jumped in to prevent it (online leak/piracy). We started talking to people in government including the I &B ministry, police officials and cyber crime cell,” he added.
Urvashi said the leak was akin to murdering the movie. “When ‘Udta Punjab’ got leaked online, all of us felt bad. I never expected that my film will also face a similar situation. It’s really disheartening. It’s nothing less than a murder.”
Despite the film being available online, the team did not stop promoting the film.
“We thought by talking about our problem, we would in a way tell people that our film is already available before its official release. This would mean more loss. So we thought about talking about the issue after the film is officially out,” Aftab said.
YSR’s Death Gave Life To KCR
Hyderabad: Stating two years was too short a time to gauge if bifurcation of AP was a success or failure, former Union minister Jairam Ramesh on Saturday said that the Centre should provide financial assistance to AP for construction of a new capital city and setting up a new High Court for TS.
Mr Ramesh said all parties, barring the CPM, supported bifurcation in writing including the TD and YSRC. He said bifurcation was an “unmitigated disaster” and “spectacular self-goal” for the Congress which lost both states politically.
“Multiple factors, including T-sentiment, agitations, suicides by students, political gains and caste played a key role in the traumatic division of AP. It’s not a partition but bifurcation. More aptly it can be described as demerger of Andhra and Hyderabad that took place in 1953,” he said.
Mr Ramesh added, “There are several ifs and buts. If KCR had been inducted into the Cabinet by Naidu? If YSR was not killed things might have been different. YSR’s death gave life to KCR.”

Abolishing Governor’s Post
The post of governor of states should be abolished as the existing federal democratic structure does not warrant its continuance, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said on Saturday.
His remarks at the Inter-State Council meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi came against the backdrop of the Supreme Court’s severe criticism of the Arunachal Pradesh governor over the dismissal of the Congress government in the state, and some opposition-ruled states accusing the occupants in Raj Bhawans of working politically at the Centre’s behest.
The JD(U) president added that if it is not possible to do away with the constitutional post, the discretionary powers that go with it should be curtailed. He also said the CM of a state should have a role in the appointment and removal of the governor.
Babu Bangaram Not To Have Nayanatara Song!
Vexed with Nayanathara’s attitude, the team of “Babu Banagaram” has now decided to give her a minor shock. So far she hasn’t provided her dates for the shoot of a romantic duet.
Director Maruthi has planned to shoot the song on hero Venkatesh and Nayanathara. Saying her agreed dates have already been used by the team, she is refusing to come down to Hyderabad for the shoot.
Although she got the full remuneration, she is not adjusting her dates for this remaining song. Initially they tried to persuade her in but she didn’t relent. Now they have reportedly decided to release the movie without the song.
So, “Babu Bangaram” will not feature one duet although the song will appear in the album. The movie’s audio will be released on 24th July in Hyderabad and movie will be hitting the screens on 12th August.
