Akhil still in dilemma?
Tamil Storm On Telugu Box-office
Tollywood’s trade is facing a huge competition from its neighboring counterparts from the Tamil film industry. Since the last couple of decades, dubbed films like Chandramukhi, Aparichitudu, Ghajini and Robo gave jitters to Telugu films with their record collections. Most of these Tamil hits even gave a stiff competition to top Telugu stars in terms of box-office collections. However, Tollywood audiences seem to have reduced their fascination towards Tamil dubbed films over the past few years as many high profile star Tamil films bombed in Telugu.
This series of disasters led to the downpouring of dubbing films in Telugu and even the market strategies have been changed. Over the past 2, 3 years, hardly 1, 2 dubbed films managed to get decent collections at Telugu box-office.But looks like 2016 has once again changed gears for dubbed films. Star hero Suriya, who was reeling from a series of flops, got a decent hit with 24. The film grossed more than 25 crores Telugu, which is surprisingly higher than the Tamil original.
The latest Vijay Antony starrer Bichagadu took everyone by surprise, even though it released with no expectations. As per trade circles, Bichagadu has already grossed nearly 7 crores and is poised to collect nearly 10 crores in full run.Even Vishal’s Rayudu made its presence felt at Telugu box-office with 5 crore gross in its first week. Incidentally, all these films gained as most Telugu biggies failed to set the cash registers ringing this summer.
Varun Tej Shocks Srinu Vaitla
Director Srinu Vaitla hasn’t delivered a hit with any of mega heroes including megastar Chiranjeevi. His last movie Bruce Lee with Ram Charan was also a dud and even Chiru’s cameo didn’t help the film sustaining at box office.Srinu Vaitla was supposed to work with young mega hero Varun Tej for a romantic entertainer titled Mister. First shooting schedule of the movie was planned in May end in Spain, followed by second schedule in Brazil.
However, the film has got postponed as Varun Tej is keen on starting a film with Sekhar Kammula first. Nonetheless, some reports state that, Srinu Vaitla’s project has been called off as Varun Tej isn’t happy with second half.Srinu Vaitla has worked on Mister script along with his friend-writer Gopi Mohan. The duo who missed the magic in past few films has failed to convince Varun with the script, it seems. Moreover, the actor is said to be impressed with Sekhar Kammula’s subject.
Producer Dil Raju announced to start Varun Tej-Sekhar Kammula project in June. It’s highly impossible for Varun Tej to work for both the films simultaneously. So, apparently he picked Sekhar Kammula over Srinu Vaitla.
Fact Sheet: Power Till 2050?
Stating that he would make Andhra Pradesh a dream State, Chandrababu Naidu said that education and eradication of poverty were the main thrusts of his government which would help in the development of the State.Naidu said his aim now is to make the residuary AP the third most developed state in the country by 2022, and put it in the number one slot by 2029. He unfolded his vision for the state up to 2050.
Now does this mean that Chandrababu Naidu is asking for a people’s mandate until 2050? Or is he absolutely confident of remaining in power until 2050? Whatever may be his intentions, one thing is emerging clear from his speeches. The TDP will seek a fresh mandate in 2019 by saying that the investments in Amaravati would go waste if they are not voted for another term in office.
Well,it would be ultimately up to the people whether they would buy this argument or his Vision-2050. If Naidu lasts till 2050, he will be well beyond 90 years.
Quite an ambition he has then.
Behind The Scene: Who Will Take Over?
The election for the post of AP BJP President was supposed to be held in March but the Party kept the issue in abeyance. It is a significant election for the saffron Party which is keen on making inroads into South India. Therefore, the choice of BJP President for AP becomes extremely significant.
The current President K Hari Babu won the 2014 election over YS Vijayamma. More than Hari Babu winning the election, it can be said as a classic case of the people of Vizag defeating Vijayamma for they were scared into believing by the TDP that Vijayammas victory would usher in Rayalaseema factionism into Vizag. That the people of Vizag are rueing their decision now is an entirely different thing. But suffice to say that Hari Babu has done precious little for the people of Vizag since getting elected. Sources say that Hari Babu is keen on not contesting for another term as BJP President in order to concentrate on his constituency works.
That means, there is going to be a good contest between the likes of Purandeswari and Kanna Lakshmi Narayana. Venkayya Naidu might back Purandeswari for casteist reasons. Hari Babu is also of the same caste. But under these people, the BJP in AP will always be a second wing of the TDP! Therefore, the election assumes a lot of significance.
How can I live without Jagan: KVP

Congress Rajya Sabha MP and close-aide of late YS Rajasekhar Reddy, KVP Ramachandra Rao, has showered his love on YSR’s son and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Calling Jagan as his Menalludu (Nephew), KVP said in a TV interview that he couldn’t live without him. “Jagan Mohan Reddy is my Menalludu. How can I live without him?” said KVP.
When questioned about Jagan’s role in the umpteen corruption cases against him and amassed disproportionate assets, KVP replied, “Who’re we to decide? There’re courts. There’s law to look into it. Since it’s sub-judice, let’s wait till the courts pronounce their judgement.”On prodding further what’s his individual opinion since KVP was the sole eye-witness for all the proceedings of YSR’s government, KVP gave clean-chit to Jagan and said, “As per my knowledge, there’s no chance of Jagan doing mistake.”
After the demise of YSR, Jagan parted ways from Congress and flouted his own political outfit YSRCP. But KVP remained with Congress and claimed as “true loyalist” of Sonia. However, KVP’s latest comments on Jagan prove to be otherwise and likely to bring flak from several Congress leaders. Now that Congress is ‘zero’ in AP and its revival looks impossible, looks like, KVP is making plans to join YSRCP in coming days. Let’s wait and see. As anything can happen in politics. There’re no permanent friends, foes.
Pawan’s Secret Phone Call To Mudragada
Former Kakinada MP Mudragada Padmanabham turned as the Messiah of the Kapu community ever since he vowed to fight for Kapu reservation in January early this year. The senior politician also warned of fast unto death protests on a couple of occasions if Chandrababu failed to come clear on his promises to Kapus.
In his latest bid to gain support from all quarters and to put pressure on Chandrababu, Mudragada has reiterating met the Congress leader Pallam Raju and sought his support for his fight for Kapu agitation. However, Pallam Raju reportedly called up Janasena president Pawan Kalyan and requested him to extend his support to the Kapu movement. Pawan, who himself is a Kapu and once said that Kapu issues have to sorted out with proper talks, in turn telephoned Mudragada.
In his telephonic conversation with Mudragada, Pawan reportedly made some crucial suggestions about the Kapu reservation stir. However, Mudragada did not disclose the details about his discussion with Pawan and there have been speculations about what not might have transpired in their conversation.

Well-known face in Mollywood Jayaram has been in roped in for the villain role opposite Sweety.

UK puts music festivals, sporting events, nigh clubs on terror alert
London: Scotland Yard’s senior-most Indian-origin officer has put music festivals, sporting venues and nightclubs in the UK on terror alert, noting that such venues could be the target of the next major attack.Neil Basu, deputy assistant commissioner with the Metropolitan Police and in charge of protective security, said crowded entertainment events and venues were at the top of the agenda after the Paris attacks last November, which killed 130 people.
“This (large venues) is where you put a small town into a small area for a couple of hours. That’s exactly the same with large concert venues and much harder (to safeguard) with a large open-air festival,” he told The Times. He added: “The threat has become much more difficult (to counter) because it’s now potentially any time, any place, anywhere.“These people (terrorists) are perfectly happy to target civilians with the maximum terror impact. Crowded places were always a concern for us, but now they are right at the top of the agenda.”
Basu said there was no specific intelligence to suggest an imminent attack on a sporting arena or music festival. However, members of the Paris terrorist cell are known to have visited Britain last summer and photographs of a football stadium in Birmingham were found on a key plotter’s smartphone.Basu met sports chiefs, including Premier League bosses and music executives, at an anti-terrorism briefing at Wembley stadium last week to drive home the importance of good security at venues.
“(The organisers) of music festivals are invited because they tend to have one big stage with high perimeter security. It’s kind of the equivalent (to a stadium), but even harder to control because their perimeters are much larger,” he said.Basu also recently travelled to France to be briefed on security for the European championship Euro 2016 next month.
