Varma Now Targets Bollywood Heroes!

Share

khan

Maverick film maker Ram Gopal Varma has the habit of troubling film stars with his tweets. In Tollywood, he had to bear the brunt of fans of mega family with his irritating comments against Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan on twitter. The other day, he tweeted that Pawan Kalyan’s fans were illiterates, evoking sharp reaction from them. He also created rift between fans of Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan, by belittling the latter compared to the Prince.

Of late, he has started focussing on Bollywood heroes by making similar controversial comments on twitter. He is trying to create rift between Sharukh Khan and Salman Khan, saying that Sharukh does not deserve to be called no. 1 hero.He has tweeted that compared to Sharukh, Salman has higher success rate of films making huge revenues. So, Salman should be No. 1, he argued.

Surprisingly, Ramu has also been targeting Tamil heroes. He tried to draw comparison between Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth, saying Kamal has lost his place in doing experimental characters and conceded his ground to Rajini.God only knows why Ramu is trying to be so judgemental these days.

GOPICHAND

After disaster run of Soukhyam, hero Gopichand said to have sacked his manager. Gopi is of the opinion that the manager was one of the reasons for his previous failures and doesn’t letting him explore different subjects, stories. Apparently, many directors, writers have approached Gopi’s manager with good stories in the past and the manager apparently turned down many without bringing them to Gopi’s notice.

Learning of such high-handed practices, Gopi finally removed him from the role recently. Though it’s not something new and very common practice for heroes, heroines to dismiss managers after failures, but this has become topic in industry circles as the manager had been working closely with Gopi from long-time.

China revises textbooks to focus more on traditional culture

Share

books

Beijing: China’s primary and secondary school Chinese language textbooks have been revised on popular demand to focus more on traditional culture which was largely destroyed in Mao era, especially during the decade-long Cultural Revolution.Starting this autumn, more than four million first and seventh graders from Hunan, Henan, Guangdong, Liaoning and other provincial-level regions will use the new books.Forty per cent of the content in the previous edition has been changed, said Wang Xuming, president of the Language and Culture Press under the Ministry of Education.

Traditional material makes up 30 per cent of the revised primary school textbooks, while it increases to about 40 per cent for secondary school textbooks.”We did so to address the needs of parents, who want their children to learn more about traditional culture,” said a senior editor surnamed Zhu in charge of the middle school textbooks.”Now many people cannot even understand the language in classical Chinese books, and parents compete to send their children to commercial training centres for traditional culture,” she said.

The changes coincided with the 50 years of Mao’s Cultural Revolution this month which was largely ignored by the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) which discarded his hardline Communist ideology. For 10 tumultuous years from 1966, China underwent massive sociopolitical upheaval that saw countless politicians and intellectuals driven to their deaths, civilians killed in armed conflicts, and cultural relics and artefacts destroyed.”The Cultural Revolution era is long over…We have bid farewell to the Cultural Revolution. We can say it once again today that the Cultural Revolution cannot and will not come back. There is no place for it in today’s China,” state-run Global Times said in its editorial on 50th anniversary of Cultural Revolution.

China has seen a renewed interest in traditional education.”Demand for private education grows when teaching of traditional culture in public schools is not enough,” Zhu said. The poetry and essays in the new books were selected not only so that students can learn the language, but also to instruct them on philosophy, Zhu told sate-run Xinhua news agency, adding that 16 excerpts from the Analects of Confucius were included in the middle school textbooks.Zheng Weizhong, director of the primary school department at the press said that students now begin learning classical articles starting in third grade.

“We also added stories about Chinese folk art and ethnic culture, such as paper-cutting and the Tibetan Shoton (yogurt banquet) Festival,” he said. The change was welcomed by many teachers, but some people questioned the revision. This is the first revision the press has made in more than a decade.

More than 2,000 boat refugees rescued off Italy, 45 dead

boat

Rome: At least 45 refugees died in a shipwreck and more than 2,000 were rescued from boats in the Mediterranean on Friday, the coastguard said, as the number of refugees coming to Europe via Italy soared again.Italian Navy ship Vega plucked about 135 people off a “half-submerged” large rubber boat in one of 17 operations coordinated by the coastguard on Friday. The Vega recovered 45 bodies and is still searching for the missing, the navy said, marking the third straight day of reports of migrant deaths at sea. Around 14,000 people were taken off often flimsy vessels over the whole week, the United Nations (UN) and the coastguard said, and hundreds may have drowned, survivors and boat crews added, though there are no official estimates of total casualties.

It is not known how many people had been on board the boat before it began to deflate. The coastguard said the warmer weather and calmer seas had led to a surge in the number of people trying to cross from Libya, where people smugglers operate with relative impunity. The numbers managing to reach Italy were comparable to the same period last year and the year before. The refugees, many of whom do not know how to swim and do not have life jackets, pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to make the crossing. They are piled onto flimsy rubber boats or old fishing vessels, and as dramatic images from the crew of the Italian Navy ship Bettica showed on Wednesday, they can be tossed into the water in a matter of seconds.

The images show the moment a blue fishing boat capsized, sending hundreds of refugees tumbling into the sea. About 240 women and children had already been rescued, but an unknown number were trapped in the hull. Only five bodies were recovered and 562 were saved. Testimony from survivors suggests there were still many people below deck who were not able to escape, according to the UN refugee agency, while the Bettica captain estimated that “some 100” may have been lost.On Thursday, when 4,000 were rescued in 22 separate operations, survivors from another overturned fishing boat say some 200 may have drowned, a sharp rise from the 20-30 originally estimated, according to an Italian Interior Ministry source. Some 15 bodies were recovered, he said.

“It’s obvious that no matter the great effort made by rescuers, when the numbers are as high as we’re seeing this week, it’s very risky,” said Federico Fossi, a spokesman for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Rome. “But in terms of numbers it’s the third year that this is ‘normal’,” Fossi said. “It’s the beginning of the high season and we’re still at slightly fewer arrivals as the same period last year.”In 2014 and 2015, more than 320,000 boat refugees arrived on Italian shores, and an estimated 7,000 died in the Mediterranean as they sought to reach Europe, according to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM). On Friday the IOM said it estimates total Mediterranean deaths at sea to be 1,475 in 2016.

Mobile radiation shows positive results for cancer: Study

Share

cances

For years now, mobile radiation has been a topic of concern. Scientists and enthusiasts have always believed that the microwave radio frequencies emitted from mobile phones could be harmful to human tissue, resulting in cancer and other health hazards. Loads of research and findings till date haven’t been able to prove any link between human health hazards and mobile radiation. However, a surprising news comes in from a two-year study which was funded by $25m.

According to a report by Tech Crunch, a major study conducted by the National Toxicology Program has found that there are significant, positive correlation between radio-frequency radiation exposure (like that given off by phones) and certain cancers in rats — though only male ones. The two-year involved thousands of rats and each received carefully controlled doses of radiation, daily, for two years. A set of rats also received no radiation at all. Of those who did, around 2 – 3 per cent of rats developed glioma in their brains and around 1 – 6 per cent developed schwannoma of the heart.

Strangely, the results revealed that only the male rats showed the results. What was also surprising was that the rats that received no radiation lived a shorter life.Experts are still working on these results and the National Cancer Institute is updating its cellphone radiation fact sheet to reflect the news.

The study:

In a previous study, this laboratory reported a statistically nonsignificant trend for shortened latency of ethylnitrosourea (ENU)-induced brain tumors in Sprague-Dawley rats exposed to an 860 MHz pulsed radiofrequency (RF) signal. The present study was designed to investigate further any promoting effect of the pulsed RF signal on latency and other characteristics of neurogenic tumors in the progeny of pregnant rats treated with 6.25 or 10 mg/kg ENU. The resulting 1080 offspring were randomized equally by number, sex and ENU dose into pulsed RF, sham and cage control groups.

The rats were exposed to the pulsed RF signal 6 h per day 5 days per week; the sham-exposed group was similarly confined for the same periods, and the cage controls were housed in standard cages. An essentially equal number of rats from each group were killed humanely every 30 days between the ages of 171 and 325 days; 32 rats died and 225 rats were killed when they were moribund. Postmortem examinations on the 1080 rats revealed 38 spinal cord tumors, 191 spinal nerve tumors, 232 cranial nerve tumors, and 823 brain tumors.

A methodical study of the tumor characteristics disclosed no evidence that exposure to the pulsed RF signal affected the incidence, malignancy, volume, multiplicity, latency or fatality associated with any kind of neurogenic tumor. At present, the research and study is continuing and there will be a lot of work to assess if it causes problems in humans. The $25m study is executed by the US government.

Inside Story :: This is why Mahesh Babu is better than Pawan Kalyan – ‘Real Hero’

mp

Failure of ‘Brahmotsavam’ has definitely struck Mahesh Babu and his fans so bad. Everyone of them are badly disappointed with the movie. The movie completely tanked at Box-office. The pre-release buzz and heavy expectations itself played spoil sport.

Most of the fans completely mocked Director Sreekanth Addala for his lacklustre screenplay and direction. Even a National media published an article. Makers of ‘Brahmotsavam’ has also came forward to compensate the losses. But now ‘The Real Hero’ Mahesh Babu has requested his fans not to mock the director and he took the responsibility for the failure.

He also said it was his wrong judgment which made this costly error. He also spoke to USA distributors about compensation and he has promised to reimburse the amount. It is indeed a good gesture from the actor.Earlier, Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Sardaar Gabbar Singh’ failed miserably at Box-Office. But the lead actor Pawan Kalyan never opened his mouth about compensation. In fact he even started Pooja for his next project. This shows why everyone prefers Mahesh Babu than other Tollywood heroes.

Mahesh gives another offer to him!?

pvp

Even Mahesh wouldn’t have expected ‘Brahmotsavam’ would end up as a disaster. That is the reason he joined hands with PVP and produced the film. But, looking at the first week collections of ‘Brahmotsavam’, the film may result is heavy losses for the producer and distributors. Now, Mahesh wants to compensate these losses by acting in another film under PVP’s productions says the source.

Prasad V Potluri spent huge money on this film and all his effort went in vain. So, Mahesh reportedly gave an offer to PVP to work with one more time. News is that Vamsi Paidipally narrated a story to Mahesh for which he was impressed. PVP company would produce this film says the source.

After returning from the vacation, Mahesh would kick-start Murugadoss project and PVP’s film may start after that explained the source. In the same way, Mahesh made ‘Aagadu’ under 14 Reels Entertainment after a disaster like ‘Nenokkadine’ with them. We all know what happened with ‘Aagadu’. We need to wait for further updates.
