The temple officials had a sigh of relief after the security personnel broke open the door and brought them out safely.

Rayudu Movie Review – 2.5/5

Share

Story:

Rayudu (Vishal) is like any other young lad, who lives with his doting grandmother, Annamma (Leela) and close friend Maghadeerudu Kokkarako (Soori) in Anantapur. The ripples in their life arrive with Rolex Bachi (RK Suresh), a powerful local thug turned aspiring politician. Rolex Bachi murders mother of Rayudu’s love Bhagyalakshmi (Sri Divya). Rest of the story is how Vishal locks horns with Rolex Bachi to settle the old scores. And then there is a twist connecting Raayudu to the death of Bhagyalakshmi’s mother.

Performances:

Vishal plays yet another tailor made role in Rayudu and walks through it effortlessly. His slang in the film is good as well. Sree Divya impressed with a very bold and powerful role, Bhagya Lakshmi. Soori stole the show as Magadheerudu Kokkorokko as he brings so much of laughs in to the story. Radha Ravi pulled off the Bhairavudu role with lot of conviction. Leela mesmerized in grand mother. RK Suresh is the perfect choice for the baddie role, Rolex Baachi. Marimuthu is good as well and other actors are also fine.

Technical Performances:

Rayudu story is a routine beaten to death story with a rural backdrop. However director Mattiah drive the point home with a good screenplay. The first half is more about setting up the story premise and introducing all the characters. Comedy gets going then. But as story unfolds in the second half as screenplay weakens. But as twists are revealed, that is made up and finally the climax is good as a result.

The dialogues also worked out well for the mass entertainer. Songs are very poor and are mostly speed breakers. However Imman made it up with perfect back ground score. Velraj’s camera work is good and got an authentic feel to the film proceedings. Praveen KL should have been more careful with his scissors. He could have trimmed several scenes in the second half. Action choreography by ANL Arasu is good and production values are appropriate.

Plus Points:

1. Vishal Performance

2. Magadheerudu Kokkorokko

Minus Points:

1. All the songs useless

2. Too much of Tamil nativity

Final Say:

Rayudu is an average mass entertainer. Slow paced second half, badly placed, lot of Tamil nativity and conceived songs are disappointing. Barring all that the film is mostly passable. Go for it if you have nothing to do this weekend!

Pakistan should completely stop support to terror to boost ties: Modi

Share

modi

He said he has always maintained that instead of fighting with each other, India and Pakistan should together fight against poverty.“Naturally we expect Pakistan to play its part,” he said.“But, there can be no compromise on terrorism. It can only be stopped if all support to terrorism, whether state or non-state, is completely stopped.“Pakistan’s failure to take effective action in punishing the perpetrators of terror attacks limits the forward progress in our ties,” said the Prime Minister.

Mr. Modi said his government’s proactive agenda for a peaceful and prosperous neighbourhood began from the very first day of his government.“I have said that the future that I wish for India is the future that I dream for my neighbours. My visit to Lahore was a clear projection of this belief,” he said.Ruling out a change in India’s decades-old policy of non-alignment, Mr. Modi said that despite the border dispute, there have been no clashes with China, pointing out the “new way” in today’s “interdependent world” unlike the last century.

“There is no reason to change India’s non-alignment policy that is a legacy and has been in place. But this is true that today, unlike before, India is not standing in a corner. It is the world’s largest democracy and fastest growing economy.“We are acutely conscious of our responsibilities both in the region and internationally,” he said.Mr. Modi’s significant comment on India’s Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which many now also prefer to call as strategic autonomy, came in response to a question on China’s assertiveness.

“The U.S. is very keen on India, the rising power that India is, to be part of, if not an alliance, then at least a grouping that can stand up to some extent to China. Where do you see India taking a position on the global stage?” he was asked.“We don’t have any fighting with China today. We have a boundary dispute, but there is no tension or clashes.People-to-people contacts have increased. Trade has increased.Chinese investment in India has gone up. India’s investment in China has grown,” Mr. Modi said.“Despite the border dispute, there haven’t been any clashes. Not one bullet has been fired in 30 years,” he said.

Donald Trump reaches magic number to clinch GOP nomination

Mr. Trump was put over the top in the AP delegate count by a small number of the party’s unbound delegates who told the AP they would support him at the national convention in July. Among them was Oklahoma GOP chairwoman Pam Pollard.

“I think he has touched a part of our electorate that doesn’t like where our country is,” Ms. Pollard said. “I have no problem supporting Mr. Trump.”

It takes 1,237 delegates to win the Republican nomination. Mr. Trump has reached 1,238. With 303 delegates at stake in five State primaries on June 7, 2016, Mr. Trump will easily pad his total, avoiding a contested convention in Cleveland.

Obama becomes first U.S. President to visit Hiroshima bomb site

The President also is expected to renew his push for a world without nuclear weapons, an aspiration for which he received a Nobel Peace Prize early on his presidency but has since seen uneven progress. The White House has said Mr. Obama will offer a simple reflection, acknowledging the devastating toll of war and coupling it with a message that the world can and must do better. It is a place, he said, “to remind ourselves that the job’s not done in reducing conflict, building institutions of peace and reducing the prospect of nuclear war in the future.”

Those who come to ground zero at Hiroshima speak of its emotional impact, of the searing imagery of the exposed steel beams on the iconic A—bomb dome. The skeletal remains of the exhibition hall have become an international symbol of peace and a place for prayer. The President is accompanied on his visit by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe a demonstration of the friendship that exists between the only nation ever to use an atomic bomb and the only nation ever to have suffered from one.Bomb survivor Kinuyo Ikegami (82), paid her own respects at the cenotaph on Friday morning, well before Mr. Obama arrived, lighting incense and chanting a prayer.

Tears ran down her face as she described the immediate aftermath of the bomb.“I could hear schoolchildren screaming- ‘Help me! Help me!’” she said. “It was too pitiful, too horrible. Even now it fills me with emotion.”“The suffering, such as illness, gets carried on over the generations that is what I want President Obama to know,” she said. “I want him to understand our sufferings.”Mr. Obama’s visit is a moment 71 years in the making. Other American presidents considered coming, but the politics were still too sensitive, the emotions too raw. Jimmy Carter visited as a former president in 1984.

Even now, when polls find 70 percent of the Japanese support Mr. Obama’s decision to come to Hiroshima, Mr. Obama’s visit is fraught. There are political foes at home who are ready to seize on any hint of an unwelcome expression of regret. There are Koreans who want to hear the President acknowledge the estimated 20,000—40,000 of their citizens who were among the dead in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There are blast survivors who want Mr. Obama to listen to their stories, to see their scars physical and otherwise. There are activists looking for a pledge of new, concrete steps to rid the world of nuclear weapons.

There are American former POWs who want the President to fault Japan for starting the war in the Pacific.Mr. Obama will try to navigate those shoals by saying less, not more. The dropping of the bomb, he said on Thursday, “was an inflection point in modern history. It is something that all of us have had to deal with in one way or another.”

Leading Tamil Magazine gives review for ‘Brahmotsavam’ :: Praises Mahesh Babu – READ IT NOW !

mtamil

Leading Tamil Magazine has given review for a Telugu movie for the first time. This clearly shows the star power Mahesh Babu has across the boundaries. In the review, they have praised Mahesh Babu and criticized Director Srikanth Addala. The review reads as follows.”A House full of relatives.. Colourful lightings.. Some blah blah sentimental dialogues.. Exclusive fight for Mahesh Babu… makes the perfect Family drama ‘Brahmotsavam’. Don’t get scared if some one from fourth row calls you as brother…

Because in each scene, some one will be calling ‘Brother, Sister, Brother in law.. and so on.. Three gorgeous actress lighten up the screen. But even all three of them are saying.. “Mana naanaa.. Mana Inti..” and that tests our patience. The movie has a costly Junior artist list and the whole junior artist will be extended to nearby screen !

Simple story. Senior actors. Sentiment for each scene and this is typical SVSC template. But the emotion factor is missing here. The movie turns out to be a costly serial. The travel in the second half is a good idea. But as there is nothing interesting in screenplay, that also falls flat. Mahesh Babu often has “Next Door Boy” image even in Tamil Nadu, so he must be careful before choosing such lifeless scripts !

Nag’s Next A Biopic On Legendary Actress Savitri

Share

nag

Director Nag Ashwin, who wowed critics and audiences alike with his Telugu directorial debut “Yevade Subramanyam”, will next helm a Telugu-Tamil bilingual biopic on the life of late legendary southern actress Savitri.”The film has been titled ‘Mahanati’, and it’ll be a magnum opus period film set in the golden era. With massive set pieces, the film will be unlike anything we’ve explored in Indian cinema. I’ve just finished the script and should finalise the cast soon,” Ashwin told IANS.

Asked why a biopic on Savitri and not on any other popular actress, he said: “There have been countless actresses over the last 80 years in Telugu cinema but none have earned the title of Mahanati, and even today it has solely been reserved for Savitri”.Born on January 4, 1936, Savitri made her acting debut in 1950 Telugu-Tamil drama “Samarasam”, and went on to star in several classics such as “Devadasu”, “Missamma”, “Penin Perumai”, “Pasa Malar”, “Bhale Ramudu”, “Thodi Kodallua, “Mayabazaar” and “Gundamma Katha”.

Besides donning the greasepaint, Savitri also directed a few films such as “Chinnari Papalu”, “Chiranjeevi” and “Mathru Devatha”. She was even a popular playback singer.Ashwin feels it’s time to revisit and understand why Savitri was considered a legend.”From penniless origin to the first female superstar, her life is quite a story. We are in that moment in time where it’s been long enough that the legends have left us, that we will have to revisit them and understand why they are legends,” he said.

Although Telugu audiences haven’t experienced the concept of a biopic, Ashwin is nevertheless confident.”The story and the character of Savitri is so script like, it has got it’s emotional thread so strong that I’m very confident that audiences will relate to it. I feel stories need to have a certain value to be made into cinema and this story has value on so many levels – historic and emotional,” he said.

Ashwin spent the last six months in research – reading articles, books, meeting old journalists and actors.”There was so much drama in her life. She lived her life fully and I will be as honest as possible in my attempt to recreate it,” he said.Though there was tragedy in Savitri’s life, Ashwin wants his story to be a celebration of the veteran.”She was a comedian, prankster and the funniest person. I want the story to be a celebration but not tragic or serious. I want to enjoy and celebrate this amazing legend,” he added.

Tamannah To Get Hollywood Touch

Milky White Beauty Tamannah Bhatia has joined the league of ‘senior heroines in heroine centric films’ bit late. Her contemporary actors such as Anushka, Nayanthara etc had achieved hits with female oriented films, wherein Tamannah apparently feels Abhinetri is the right film. AL Vijay of 1947: A Love Story and Nanna fame is directing the movie.

Hollywood veteran director Paul Aaron is co-writing the Telugu-Tamil-Hindi trilingual film that has Prabhu Deva playing male lead. Paul Aaron is former stepfather of actor Keanu Reaves and his1979 film ‘The Miracle Worker’ won a Golden Globe nomination.Vijay had met Paul Aaron through a common friend in Los Angeles when he was there for the sound mixing of his previous film Saivam which was remade as Dagudumoota Dandakor in Telugu. It is learnt that, Aaron had watched Saivam and then both had decided to work together.

Both had locked a story and worked on the script for the past three years.Buzz is that, Tamannah is gaining weight for the film, since her director asked to do so. SS Thaman, GV Prakash Kumar and a Bollywood music director are working for Telugu, Tamil and Hindi versions respectively for the film scheduled to release in July.
