Did the Congress party, while dividing the erstwhile integrated Andhra Pradesh, declare a package of Rs 5 lakh crore to the residuary state after bifurcation?Well, that is what AP Congress Committee president N Raghuveera Reddy says.

“How can TDP president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu say that the UPA government had divided AP indiscriminately? During the debate on the AP Reorganisation Bill, the then UPA government announce several projects including establishment of higher educational institutions, special category status, creation of special railway zone etc; all costing Rs 5 lakh crore. Now, these BJP and TDP fellows could not bring even Rs 5,000 crore worth of investments,” he said.

Raghuveera said there was no merit in the argument of the Centre that there was no mention of special category status in the APRA. It was not followed in the case of other States when they were given special status.“The TDP and the BJP are hoodwinking the people by taking lame excuses,” he said.

The SR Nagar police have received a complaint from actress Poojitha against her husband Vijaya Gopal stating that he has married an IAS officer Rekha Rani without divorcing her, and she was asked to produce documentary evidence of her marriage. But Vijay Gopal a former journalist who has recently married Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) MD G. Rekha Rani, IAS has denied that he never married Poojitha but had a live-in relationship with her for sometime long back.

Poojitha have said that the police have informed her that if she could provide evidence they would book a case and the Police has not booked a case so far and Poojitha has sought time to produce documents. She has evidence and she will produce them before the media and police. However, she has admitted that she did not have a marriage certificate.

It was not compulsory to register marriages in 1994 when many have got married and they did not do that. But Poojitha have other evidences which she will produce soon. She has also claimed that they have got married in a temple and a wedding function was conducted with relatives. Poojitha had approached the police alleging that Vijay Gopal was her husband and he had cheated her and several other women.

She has alleged that he never took divorce from her and Poojitha has also alleged that she had spent a lot of money on Vijay Gopal. Meanwhile, Rekha Rani has told that she was ready to face the legal battle ahead and was sure that Vijay Gopal had never married Poojitha.

After months of dilly-dallying, the BJP government has finally come out clear on its stand regarding the special status to Andhra Pradesh at the Parliament today. Yesterday, the Union Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha categorically stated that AP would not be accorded the special status category as it was not mentioned in the AP Reorganization Act.

Today, Finance Minister Arun Jaitely on his speech during the discussion on the Financial bill in the Lok Sabha said that the centre has so far allotted Rs. 6,403 crores to Andhra Pradesh under the AP Reorganization Act and another Rs. 2,800 crores towards the state’s deficit.Arun Jaitley further said that the BJP government is also fulfilling the promises made by Congress to AP and that it will continue to assist the state even in the future, hinting that the state won’t get the special status.

Stating that all the directives mentioned in the AP Reorganization Act have been fulfilled by the centre and reiterating that the BJP has given Andhra Pradesh more than it deserved, Arun Jaitely conveniently ignored the special status proposal and said that Rs. 2015 crores were allotted for Amaravati construction and that the centre is committed to assist the state in the Polavaram project.

With Arun Jaitely’s revelations, it is loud and clear that the BJP has backstabbed Andhra Pradesh on its promises and in the process, it has made its stance clear that it is heading for a split with its alliance, the TDP. With the opposition leaders’ pressure mounting on him with each passing day, Chandrababu is forced to go all out against BJP and severe all ties with the NDA government.
