Indian Students Arrested In US For Watching Oopiri
According to a latest update, four Indian students were arrested while watching Nagarjuna’s Oopiri at a movie theater in Texas, USA. Apparently, the arrested students were found watching the film without a ticket and they were found by the theater staff who called in the police.
The police arrived and took these students to the local police station and then freed them after imposing fine. It is still unclear whether a case was filed on these students. This incident came across as a rude shock to several Telugu students at the university.
Apparently, some Telugu students often sneak in and watch movies without buying tickets. Meanwhile, Teluguites in the USA gave Oopiri a sensational hit status as the film is all set to overtake Nagarjuna’s previous record of Manam ($1.5 million) within this week.
NTR promising a complete make over!
Young Tiger NTR is currently shooting for his Janatha Garage. The actor is likely to do the project under the direction of Vakkantham Vamsi as his next film. NTR’s brother, Kalyan Ram will be producing the film under his NTR Arts Banner.
Besides this project, NTR also committed to Hanu Raghavapudi. Hanu Raghavapudi is fresh from the success of Krishna Gadi Veera Prema Gadha. He reportedly met NTR few days ago and narrated a story. The young director reportedly got a positive nod from the actor.
It is said that Hanu is working on a love story with a first of its kind characterization for the actor. If everything goes as per plans, this project might roll out towards the end of the next year.
NTR fans can expected a complete make over from the actor in this film. Janatha Garage is being planned for August 12th release this year. Vakkantham Vamsi project will begin immediately after that.
Big Multiplexes create problems for Sardaar Gabbar Singh
Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s Sardaar Gabbar Singh is all set for a grand release this Friday across the globe. The Online bookings have opened in several theaters and there is a phenomenal response all over. However Big Multiplexes Chains like PVR, Inox and Cinepolis are reportedly creating problems for the distributors.
The Multiplexes are reportedly refusing a Higher % Share and Advances for the distributers. Sardaar Gabbar Singh distributors committed huge bucks and expects Advance.
When every Single Screen and Local Multiplexes do so, corporates play freely. They do business on distributor Investment and only pay the distributor Share only 3-4 months after.
Now this lesser % share will further create problems for the distributors. As a result of this deadlock, Multiplexes have not opened their bookings. Both the parties are in talks to resolve the issue.
Mega fans are hoping that this will be resolved soon since these multiplexes form major share of collections especially in the first two weeks.
Will Chiranjeevi give a second though on fans’ feedback?
The other day, Ram Charan and Chiranjeevi met and greeted the blood donors and organisers, who contributed dearly towards the success of the mega blood donation camps organized across various parts of the world.
On this occasion, Chiranjeevi made an announcement about his Prestigious 150th project to the fans. Chiranjeevi announced that Kathilantodu is the title consideration for the film and will begin in this month itself.
He also confirmed that it is the remake of Tamil blockbuster, Kathi in the direction of VV Vinayak. However the title of the film did not go well with the fans or usual film audience.
Many feel that such mass title may not be apt for Chiranjeevi’s comeback film and the image he is carrying now. Many others feel Kathilantodu sounds like a dubbing film title.
We will have to see if Chiranjeevi gives it a second thought about the title basing on the feedback! The movie is likely to begin in couple of weeks.
Overseas: Oopiri In 2nd Weekend Grosses 300k
Nagarjuna’s “Oopiri” has performed exceedingly well in its second week too in the North American markets. At the end of second week, the movie now stands at about 1.4 million dollars.
Over the second weekend, the movie has posted strong revenue by raking in more than 300k dollars. The film is expected to gross another 100k dollars this week. So it is likely to touch the lifetime gross of Nagarjuna’s biggest hit in overseas area – “Manam”.
Since “Sardaar Gabbar Singh” is all set for grand release in North America with nearly 192 locations, “Oopiri” may find the problem of theatres in its third weekend. Hence the movie may not touch the magic figure of two million dollars.
“Oopiri” starred Nagarjuna as billionaire and Karthi as tapori guy. The movie had Tamannah as heroine. Directed by Vamsi Paidipally and produced by PVP Cinema, “Oopiri” is likely to be made in Bollywood too.
Chaos Reigns Supreme In Naidu Govt!
In the Chandrababu Naidu regime in Andhra Pradesh, it appears left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing.
Not with standing the tall claims by the Chief Minister, the bureaucrats are busy working for their own interests, rather than working in coordination in tune with the government policies.
Take for instance, the latest decision taken by the Information Technology department of the Naidu government.
It has given bumper offers to the IT industries in travel and exhibition arrangements to showcase their business at the international IT exhibitions to be held at Hong Kong next month.
Similar incentives are being offered to IT companies to put up their stalls at various other global IT conventions to be held in various countries in the coming months.
Normally, the State government itself puts up stalls at the international conventions showcasing the opportunities available in the State for IT sector and inviting investments from global companies in the State.
What is the point in local software companies putting up their stalls in international exhibitions? It will benefit the IT companies and not the State government.
So, the Finance department is learnt to have raised objections as to why the State government has to sponsor the tours of private IT companies and offer subsidies to them to put up their stalls in the Hong Kong exhibition.
Instead, if the government itself puts up its own stall and invite global companies, it might fetch at least a few investments, the department argued.
