Share

allu

The pre-look of Allu Arjun’s Sarrainodu is out and its giving instant goose bumps to the onlookers. Announcing about the first look release date January 26th, Allu Arjun must be clicked in the gap where he is busy crushing the goons with a heavy Kettlebell.

The bloodmarks on kettlebell, Bunny’s biceps and unbuttoned shirt stress the need for an extra ‘R’ added in the title later to make him ‘SaRRainodu’. Allu Arjun is as stylish and sturdy as always and Boyapati raised the bar to top with just the prelook. Awaiting the first look !!!

KCR Enquires Balakrishna’s Claims On Social Service!

Share

ert

Strange it may sound, but Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has personally enquired into the recent claims of Tollywood hero Nandamuri Balakrishna that he was doing social service for poor through his cancer hospital located in Banjara Hills. Only recently, Balakrishna went to CM’s camp office in Begumet to meet KCR and sought regularisation of his illegal buildings in Basava Tarakam Cancer Hospital, for which Balakrishna is the chairman, on the ground that the hospital was doing social service by providing affordable cancer treatment to poor.

KCR had promised to consider his request. Surprisingly, KCR, while going in his convoy to his old residence in Nandi Nagar in Banjara Hills, which is located near cancer hospital, stopped his convoy at hospital and spoke to few patients and their attendants standing in front of the hospital and asked them about the facilities being provided by hospital to them. He asked some patients and attendants to come to his residence and left. Soon, some 10-12 patients and their attendants went to KCR’s residence, who had a talk with them for about 15 minutes.

KCR asked them about the facilities in hospital and how much they are charging for treatment. Though patients did not complain about charging excess money, they told KCR that the facilities were poor and there were no night shelters for attendants to stay there who accompany patients. KCR promised them that he would soon ensure night shelters and other facilities for them in cancer hospital premises. It now seems KCR would not give approval to regularise illegal buildings in hospital premises till all the facilities are provided to patients and their attendants by Balayya.

‘Airlift’: A Salute To An Unsung Hero

Share

tye

“Airlift” is a human saga set in the backdrop of war-ravaged Kuwait in August 1990, when Saddam Hussein attacks and takes over Kuwait, rendering several thousand Indians homeless. How an otherwise shrewd and prosperous businessman named Ranjit Katyal (Akshay Kumar) rises to the occasion and selflessly leads the rescue operations to evacuate 1,70,000 Indians, forms the crux of this over two-hour long film.

Akshay Kumar as Ranjit Katyal, the unsung hero, is sincere and portrays the character credibly. He is a self-absorbed businessman living in the lap of luxury one minute and a distraught family man the next. With equal ease, he brings out the frustration and fears of a helpless Indian in Kuwait trying to help his fellow countrymen.

Nimrat Kaur as his wife Amrita fails to leave an impact as she seems disconnected with her character and merely delivers her lines. The ensemble actors, with limited screen time, manage to leave an impact: Purab Kohli as Ibrahim Durani is natural and convincing; Inaam-ul-haq as the greedy and opportunist Major Khalaf Bin Zayed of Baghdad with a quirky Middle East accent wows with his performance; Prakash Belawadi as George Kutty is every inch the disciplined but selfish old man in the Indian camp in Kuwait; and Kumud Mishra as Sanjeev Kohli, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, touches your heart with an honest performance of an Indian who answers the call of duty.

The film starts off on a sluggish note, with a fairly slow pace and minimal drama, but picks up post intermission and more than makes up for the dull first half with drama, action, emotion thrown in for good measure. The graph of the story is flat and lacks the peaks and troughs of a thriller. Furthermore, owing to the predictability of the subject, there is no element of surprise for the viewer. It is only the performances and the human pathos that keeps the viewer going. Priya Seth’s cinematography of the war scenes and destruction is praiseworthy, as she recreates the anguish and fears of the stranded Indians, right before your eyes, enabling you to relive those moments.

Raja Krishna Menon astutely wields the baton as a director, handling the powerful subject in its entirety with honesty and manages to evoke a feeling of pride in the minds of the audience. He recreates the vulnerability of Indians and their indefatigable spirit with aplomb along with displaying a spectrum of human emotions in the hour of crisis. The music in the film is perfunctory. The song, “Mera nachan nu”, conveys the emotion, yet seems a tad forced as it is picturised at an inopportune moment. With minor flaws that can be overlooked, “Airlift” is a well made film that would definitely appeal to patriotic Indians. (IANS)

First Week: Nagarjuna Beats Balakrishna

“Soggade Chinni Nayana” has completed the first week on a grand note. The movie was the last to hit the screens among the Sankranthi releases and it was released in just 450 theatres due to lack of sufficient screens as major theatres were occupied by “Nannaku Prematho” and “Dictator”.

Despite this, Nagarjuna has showcased his true power at the box-office with this film, as the movie became a blockbuster. By end of the first week, the movie has collected about Rs 20.43 Cr from AP and Telangana states and USA alone. Rest of India and other territories were not added.

In the second week too, the movie is having dream run and another 150 screens are being added to movie from Friday with the heavy demand. So the total collections figure by end of its lifetime run would be huge. Comparatively, in the first week Nagarjuna beat Balakrishna by collecting more collections even though Balayya is considered big mass hero. Surprisingly, Nagarjuna’s movie has attracted mass audiences in big way than Balayya’s movie.

“Soggade Chinni Nayana” was released by Nagarjuna himself in many areas. He didn’t sell it off to distributors. Hence he would be reaping in huge profits.

Jr.NTR-Latest-Stills-1

Nannaku Prematho is doing wonders to the career of NTR as the movie is certain to be joining the Rs 50 Cr club amidst tough competition.  The movie has proved that if one gives him ‘right entertainer’ and releases without competition, NTR would create new records. Hence the buyers are offering fancy rates to NTR’s next movie “Janata Garage” to be directed by hit maker Koratala Siva.

Trade buzz is that a Rayalaseema distributor bought the rights of “Janata Garage” for Ceded area for record price of Rs 9 Cr. Shooting is yet to be begin, and the business has already been closed. The distributor is said to have distributed Koratala’s “Srimanthudu” in one district and is confident of Koratala’s magic.

NTR has great fan following in Ceded area but recently he was falling behind. With “Nannaku Prematho” he is back in the reckoning, hence the buyers are competing with each other to snatch the rights of Koratala – NTR movie.
